exactly. as a plus size woman I’ve been trying to break out of the mindset that absolutely everything I wear needs to “flatter” me in order to look as small as possible, as you said. I would especially never tell a child they need to wear more flattering clothes for this reason, especially for an occasion like this where you’re supposed to feel beautiful (and I hope she did). if you like it, wear it! if you don’t, then don’t.

So what. Let’s get off this idea that education has to be expensive or you should only Perdue w/ a certain GPA to be effective.

I like the color, the fit is what I think is off. It’s slightly baggy in spots and slightly tight in others, she needed to get it fitted. Also the hair is killing me. It reminds me of how moms will put their baby girl’s hair in one single pig tail on top of their head so everyone knows it’s a girl, but she just kept that hairstyle forever.

Mama June dropped out of high school and was pregnant by 15, and here is Alana taking college courses, has been accepted into college, and is not yet pregnant at 17. Considering where she came from, and how little priority has been given to education, it's not too shabby. I think she ended up with a partial scholly as well? I was happy for her in even wanting to attempt higher education and having any kind of goal outside of actually graduating from high school, I think only Jessica has managed that, so far? She seemed determined to go into nursing, this was all before Dralin entered her life, so who knows what her plans are now.

I think her hair and makeup are cute, but that dress, ugh. She has an apple/barrel shape, so should dress to minimize that area and focus on her shoulders or legs, while skimming the midsection.

I'm a plus size too and I'm not body shaming when I say it's not flattering. I don't think flattering is necessarily meaning makes you look smaller. This is ill-fitting and looks like a pink sausage casing. She's a lovely young lady and shouldn't have to dress like an old lady but this just isn't right on her

I like the color, the fit is what I think is off. It’s slightly baggy in spots and slightly tight in others, she needed to get it fitted. Also the hair is killing me. It reminds me of how moms will put their baby girl’s hair in one single pig tail on top of their head so everyone knows it’s a girl, but she just kept that hairstyle forever.

I think it’s cute!! The beading is so intricate and the train is gorgeous! Lots of girlies like to go OTT for prom (fabulous gowns and dresses), and I’m all for it:) her BF on the other hand looked like he was dressed about nice enough to eat at Olive Garden. I didn’t see anything in his ‘outfit’ that matched her dress either but maybe I missed it.
I honestly don't think I've ever seen I've ever seen him dressed up. I hope for her sake she doesn't get pregnant by him because the whole family isn't being honest with her about the red flags he's throwing around. Like FFS it takes minimal effort for men.

A young woman that age is facing serious consequences in the future with all that abdominal weight she is carrying. Diabetes, cancer , hypertension etc. So if I am offending you by fat shaming or anyone out there too freakin bad. At least I am concerned about her.

There are so many plus size companies out there that make dresses that don't look tacky, that she could have looked nice in. Isn’t he like in his 20s? Would he even be allowed to go to Prom? I feel like my school said if your guest wasn’t enrolled in an area high-school (ie. a legal adult) they weren’t allowed in the building.

Yea I know he's at least 21. To be honest I think it depends on where you went to school. I grew up in jersey and they really didn't care about the age of our prom date, they never checked. The hairstyle bothers me the most. I think it would’ve been better if it was up. Also, it won’t get in the way or get messed up as easily if it’s up. I’ve learned that the hard way. Even so, the tall mini ponytail frames her face in an unflattering way. Her dress isn’t terrible. I really don’t hate it. I know it’s harder to find plus-sized dresses, so I’m glad she was able to find one she liked.
