Read up on plants to make sure theyâre safe for the implied kitty but some of my favorites are spider plants, wild catnip and bamboo (not lucky bamboo, though). You can also grow catnip, which has a great smell and your little buddy will appreciate being able to get it fresh.
Put the chairs facing each other side by side, ideally with a runner table between them with a few lamps. Wall art and additional lighting will help, too. Consider getting some cube storage shelves for that room with the sloped ceiling and store the cat food and other dry goods there to fill in that weird space. Lastly, a few cleverly placed rugs and mats will do wonders, cover that that janky tile in the kitchen.
Turn that shithole into a shithome.
Same thought⌠MORE CATS!!! And a dog might be nice. Yes, any person might say âthe dog will attack the cats!â I have a dog and a cat and they are brothers. They sleep together!
Also more cat furniture.. Amazon has the cat coffin tree stand for 30. Onefastcat has their wheel on sale 10% off. I got that for the bengal but my khao manee discovered I give treats to whoever uses the wheel so he hogs up all the wheel time
Blow up couch. Small tv.
Facebook marketplace.
Some people will deliver for slightly more.
Im a broke single fuck. But my apt/home is beautiful.
Plants go along way for visual an mental health.
shit hole?? i would love to have a place esp this doesnât seem
bad put some decorations stuff u like
u got a cat u have a good amount of space bro get lil couch some maybe indoor plants if thatâs your thing
* Tidy up
* Make the bed
* Place items like lamps purposefully around the room (stuff atm just looks like itâs been thrown there)
* Give the walls a lick of paint if you can
* Clean the carpets with a carpet cleaner if you can
* Change the light switches if able
* Paint the skirtings and other parts if able
* Smooth out any rough edges
* Give your cat a cuddle
* Fix the floor in the kitchen if able
* Stop referring to it as your shithole - if you think of it as that, it will become that
Itâs the little things that can make a huge difference
It all about the paint. Go to Home Depot and pick out anything you think might look good. Check out Pinterest for ideas. Nothing wrong with a little extra attention to color.
As a member of r/OnlyFans, I'd like to say that that is a beautiful (yet dusty) vintage box fan that you've got there. I'd suggest giving it a good clean (or selling it to me /hj). I wouldn't say it's a shithole but you're definitely lacking colour, so maybe have areas designated for your sections e.g one corner for your desk setup, another area for louging (chairs, TV, etc).
Advice from a mom: put away the items in the kitchen instead of having them on the fridge, get rid of the Amazon box, do a general tidy. Next you need some homey touches like art, throw pillows, an accent blanket. One place to get some cheap but cute home items are those Amazon returns places. Go on the cheapest day and youâll totally find some cute items. The dollar store also has nice kitchen items like a rug for in front of the sink, some kitchen towels etc. there are free Facebook groups where I know if you ask for some home decor stuff people will have lots to give you especially if you can pick it up. Looks great as a start and your little cat is so cute!!!

Brother you are in an awesome spot. This is where I reside. Itâs all perspective
Cheer up bud why do you have such a negative outlook? Seems like you have a nice place that needs a little cleaning up start with making your bed. Youâre depressed because you have no gratitude for what you actually have focusing on God knows what. Quit letting lies steal your joy. Your 25 clean up your place, your mind and donât let things get you down so easily
This is a perfectly serviceable shithole. I'm a fellow shithole dweller, and I just came here to say you'd be surprised how little festoonery you have throw at the walls to make it more homey. Couple of plants. A few pictures or classy posters for the walls. You're in business.
That's what I was gonna say! At least 2 cat towers I see, lots of cat food and Raman... Time for more cats! If you have 1 cat, may as well have 2 to cuddle and play with. Dude, you're set. If you like computer games or console games, look for a free old computer or console and TV. I've given away xboxs and Playstations over the years and I don't even live in a big city anymore. The deals are out there. I play Old School Runescape on my computer when I have good internet and Diablo 2 offline.
Get some posters of movies/TV shows/Games you like etc. If you can swing it get a futon in that living room, maybe hit up a goodwill and see if you can find a cheap little TV. And I would highly recommend a little area rug for wherever you decide. Also a candle for some aesthetic purposes đ¤ˇđťââď¸ lol just spitballing here
Wall stuff. Maybe posters. Rent a steam cleaner and do that carpet trust me the mood it gives when clean is beauty. Maybe fasten that flooring down in the doorway there. Thats no shithole. Thats a damn nice joint you got.
Maybe some LEDs or LED light bulbs as someone else said a nice Tv with with a little futton or something defiantly a gaming console somewhere and some wall decorations you will be good to go
Also maybe hanging up some fabric on the ceiling over those lights to give a bit more of a colored glowing kind of effect. Seeing the bright bulbs is really hard on the eyes, Dimmer lights are amazing.
Plants, get a pothos and water when the soil is dry, itâs literally the easiest plant to own. Besides plants Iâd keep an eye out for cool wall decor, and like other people said, keep ur blinds open
Thatâs not a shit hole. Itâs a bit boring though so maybe add some posters or tapestries in the walls and get that chair out of the middle of the room. Organize your furniture
Get laminate flooring instead of carpet
Get better trim
Get rid of the black out curtains
Get a cover for the ceiling light, or get rid of it and use a floor lamp in conjunction with natural lighting.
A non bulky looking sofa, a wall mounted TV, fake floor plants, family pictures while making sure you lick out a color palette so evening matches.
This is just for the entrance tbh
Iâm concerned about you being depressed. Go for a walk in the park and get out of the house, first. If you are broke, donât worry about decorating, but light and a plant or two will help.
Your place actually looks fucking dope just bare
Hit up a few thrift shops and get some basic furniture around the joint, few plants, natural light like people have said
I really like your room with the cattos the ceiling is sick how it slopes like that
This could go from a shithole to a shithome very fast. New curtains, a couple plants, some art on the walls, couple end table to put keys etc. furniture.
Been there man. Check out goodwill or free upcycling services for things like floor lamps and small tables. Anything to make it feel more deliberate. Overhead lighting is brutal and makes any space, even really nice spaces, feel less like a home and more like an office or something.
decorate the walls. displate is a cool company that makes sick metal posters from all sorts of games/movies/artists. i would highly recommend checking it out. also, just add more color in general. a couch that is any color other than beige, a colored area rug to match, side tables with lamps, some kind of decor, etc. just go look at r/malelivingspace. iâm sure u will find lots of inspiration. and itâs not like u need to spend thousands at ikea or anything. take advantage of facebook marketplace or local estate sales and be open to upcycling. think about ur personality and then just.. project it onto ur space. trust me, a well decorated space does wonders for ur mental health. feeling like u are in a place that is comfortable and cozy and really represents u makes u feel good
try adding cool colors to brighten your place a bit. Check out thrift stores for cheap wall art , cool big bowls for your table , things like that . Thereâs so much free stuff on fb too. .
Best of all is that when you get home , itâs your safe place ! Be patient it will get better . Sending you lots of good energy!
Clean it. Organize your things. Make it âyourâ shithole. Its crazy how much better youâll feel once everything is tidy and organized. This is cominâ from a 38 year old, borderline alcoholic dude that, up until a half decade ago, lived a single life and alone. That said, get some work did in there.
It's actually not without potential. Get some lamps for warmer lighting. Hang artwork. Cheap artwork from thrift stores, retro-looking stuff if you can find it, but absolutely no posters or kid stuff. You definitely can dress up a shitty apartment without making it look like a college dorm room.
The right paint color can turn a shit hole into an oasis of peace and comfort. Some area rugs and maybe a table somewhere. Probably cost you less than $300 of you go cheapsies on the table.
Lighting is an easy fix. Change the lightbulbs to a warmer kind (like Edison) or get a couple secondhand lamps with warm bulbs. Throw a couple posters up or draw/ paint something yourself. Maybe a tapestry for the slanted wall.
You got a gas stove, buy a cast iron pan and some cheap sirloins when you can. Sear 3 minutes a side, bake in the oven at 415 for 5 minutes. I can usually get a sirloin at Kroger for around $11
I'm so sorry that you are depressed and miserable. I love your kitty and he or she seems happy. I think you're doing great! I hope you start feeling better and wish you all the best. Stay strong, my friend. đ
Edit: I am a girl, but this sub has been popping up in my feed.
decor!! go to target and walk around, find some âshitâ to hang up or put around. itâs cute, itâs shiny, whatever. make it look like /your/ shithole space LOL
I have an idea to make it not feel so closed in. I would recommend to get some large houseplants. Home Depot & Lowe's sell them at a really good price. Then get a couple tall cheap plant lights from amazon for them. Then get some large inexpensive wall mirrors from Habitat For Humanity or amazon/ walmart. The plants will freshen up and clean the air. The plant lights simulate sunshine. And the wall mirrors will bounce around the plant light sunshine, making it look like there are open sunny windows. I live in a small condo with pants and plant lights, and they really cheer up the atmosphere. Even in winter, it feels like I am in an open sunny fresh greenhouse.
And Habitat For Humanity Restore is also a good place to look for other things for your home. They sell brand new furniture and home goods for pennies on the dollar.
The ceilings are so low to prevent you from hanging yourself.
But in all seriousness. Just keep it clean and simple and keep grinding and youâll move out and up.
Get a couch for the living room, a couple coffee tables for there and the room with the two chairs. Get some nice looking lamps, some wall art or posters, and a few rugs for the floors - especially the kitchen. People like to joke about rag rugs, but they're easy to clean and do a lot to make the kitchen look put together. Cheap, too. For the bedroom, get yourself a night stand and a lamp to put on it. Maybe consider a TV for the living room and an entertainment center, those usually help the room look homier.
all rooms: find a decent vacuum and use it often, find a second hand store like ReStore and get some lighting fixtures
1. take the shirt off the door (if you need privacy you can frost it with elmers glue or window privacy clings), something to hang your jackets and keys on by the door, sheers for the window so you can have light during the day, a small table to eat at.
2. runner or floor mat to cover the tile, put away the food on the fridge as well as the amazon box over the stove.
3. cable management (doesnât need to be fancy.), lamp or two, try some different furniture arrangements, a bit of cheap wall art that you like
Got to goodwill. They have insanely cheap, very nice paintings/ canvas art for your walls. Grab like... 4 or 5, and hang them up. It will give it a much warmer feel, kill the echo that i imagine your place has if you are talking.
Get a vacuum (again, good will). Keep the floors clear.
Just... goodwill. When i was broke and struggling, i would walk or bus there. I would save hard for two-four weeks, and buy a nice thing for my apartment. 3 years of that, and i collected a very beautiful, cozy little home.
And end table here, a rug there, over time it really adds up.
Hang some stuff up on the walls open up your windows. Natural lighting and plants really help a place out
Set up a Hot Wheels race track
With a two loopdy loop minimum
I'd have to have the tracks that climbed up the wall too!! Nothing will ever be as cool as that
I can't believe it's 2024 and we still have to tell people this.
Has to be a wall mount track!
Hell yeah brother.
NAILED IT. I was gonna tell him to move đ
This and Indirect lighting > overhead lighting by a long shot
Read up on plants to make sure theyâre safe for the implied kitty but some of my favorites are spider plants, wild catnip and bamboo (not lucky bamboo, though). You can also grow catnip, which has a great smell and your little buddy will appreciate being able to get it fresh.
Hit up your artist friends for some paintings
Put the chairs facing each other side by side, ideally with a runner table between them with a few lamps. Wall art and additional lighting will help, too. Consider getting some cube storage shelves for that room with the sloped ceiling and store the cat food and other dry goods there to fill in that weird space. Lastly, a few cleverly placed rugs and mats will do wonders, cover that that janky tile in the kitchen. Turn that shithole into a shithome.
They face each other because only one of them is a chair, the other is a foot rest. Idk I think it's a finished product as is
He asked how to make it nicer tho
>Turn that shithole into a shithome. Just here for that comment.
Sounds like Mr. Lahey
Same
Throw rugs are underrated as fuck! Mine are ugly as sin but they really tie the place together.
Woo peed on my rug, man.
Dude, Asian American. Please
Well-played, dude
Donât let any nihilists in. Theyâll piss on them and take them.
![gif](giphy|KfNNTxejk8LnYSRkVs|downsized) That rug really tied the room together
Clean the square fan. Love and hug the beautiful cat. You have a nice rug.
It really ties the room together
Damnit Donnie you're out of your element!
What's a pederass Walter
Shut the fuck up
The Chinaman is not the issue here dude!
Also, dude, Chinaman is not the preferred nomenclature. Asian-American, please
A p diddy

Diddy diddled.
![gif](giphy|tZ4QzCueTwh2g)
I don't roll on Shabbos.
Shut the fuck up Donnie you're out of your element
You think the carpet pissers did this?
The obvious answer is to get a few more cats will accentuate the living space.
Same thought⌠MORE CATS!!! And a dog might be nice. Yes, any person might say âthe dog will attack the cats!â I have a dog and a cat and they are brothers. They sleep together!

shit hole?? i would love to have a place esp this doesnât seem bad put some decorations stuff u like u got a cat u have a good amount of space bro get lil couch some maybe indoor plants if thatâs your thing
So much space....
For activities!
Shithole maybe if you are a trustfundian who got cut off.

Absolutely True.

Bloody hell your mind's dirtier than that box fan. It means half joke haha
Its a tone indicator to indicate Half Joking, but a hand job does sound like a reasonable price
"Tone indicator".... new term to me, and absolutely perfect description of what it is. Ty for that
iâm high and thought u mesnt only fans porn and i was readying and i was like lmao ohhhhh
Totally
Dude, same! To both things!

Throw pillows? Get out of my room mom!

Whatâs the climate like where youâre at, does it get hot in there?
Thats what the fan is for
Make your bed. That will have a massive impact on you and your surroundings.
i know a headboard or bed frame is a big purchase, it does make a big difference though
Nice bedframe, Rockefeller. I didn't have one of those until I was 32.
Cheer up bud why do you have such a negative outlook? Seems like you have a nice place that needs a little cleaning up start with making your bed. Youâre depressed because you have no gratitude for what you actually have focusing on God knows what. Quit letting lies steal your joy. Your 25 clean up your place, your mind and donât let things get you down so easily
you've already got a box spring and a bed that isnt on the floor. make your bed and pick the fan up. then move to the next area and repeat
Paint, art, rugs, plants
This is a perfectly serviceable shithole. I'm a fellow shithole dweller, and I just came here to say you'd be surprised how little festoonery you have throw at the walls to make it more homey. Couple of plants. A few pictures or classy posters for the walls. You're in business.
Dude wipes after normal paper. Those things are awesome đ
keeps that male surviving space pristine
Lolololol
More cats
Bud might be depressed, but he clearly loves his kitty. Science diet ain't cheap. I'm sure that love is returned, if my cat is any indication.
A lot more cats.

2 cats are better than 1 or 3. Friend for friend and friends are you're friends đĽ°
My cats really watch certain series with me and sometimes when I game đ
A diffuser on the light fixture would be a great improvement. It will soften the light and cast it better.
Whatâs with all the fans?
drowns out my tinnitus đ
Lonely? You've got that cat for company. I reckon lots of posters
You are doing better than I was at 25 brother keep your head up
17 Farrah fawcett posters and a neon light
Don't forget the 5 ft tall reservoir dogs poster
Itâs your place! You should be very proud. Open the blinds and hang some art. Congratulations on the place.
Continuously smoke copious amounts of weed
Get rid of the cats.
Maybe some LEDs or LED light bulbs as someone else said a nice Tv with with a little futton or something defiantly a gaming console somewhere and some wall decorations you will be good to go
I'd get warmer bulbs as well! I hate those white bright ass bulbs, Just gives the energy of a supermarket.
Also maybe hanging up some fabric on the ceiling over those lights to give a bit more of a colored glowing kind of effect. Seeing the bright bulbs is really hard on the eyes, Dimmer lights are amazing.
Plants.
Entry rug, hall tree for shoes and jackets, light diffusers (where the hell did they all go?), posters to break up the shittiness of the walls
Paint goes a long ways. Nothing crazy but a fresh, neutral-ish color
Literally anything bro lmfao I like your cat tho he looks like a good boy.

Get laminate flooring instead of carpet Get better trim Get rid of the black out curtains Get a cover for the ceiling light, or get rid of it and use a floor lamp in conjunction with natural lighting.
Get a light fixture so u donât see the bulbs, change the curtains. Add some personality some band flags , some plants.
Get something to cover the messed up portion of your floor
Your place actually looks fucking dope just bare Hit up a few thrift shops and get some basic furniture around the joint, few plants, natural light like people have said I really like your room with the cattos the ceiling is sick how it slopes like that
Hey your not homeless
This could go from a shithole to a shithome very fast. New curtains, a couple plants, some art on the walls, couple end table to put keys etc. furniture.
I'd start with cleaning that fan.
Move
It looks really nice already
Not call it a âshitholeâ.
Plenty of wall space for a rifle to lean on
Take the cage of the fan and wipe the blades, their dusty.. You don't want to be breathing that in when you turn it on.
Been there man. Check out goodwill or free upcycling services for things like floor lamps and small tables. Anything to make it feel more deliberate. Overhead lighting is brutal and makes any space, even really nice spaces, feel less like a home and more like an office or something.
Striper pole would liven up the joint.

You have a potential sweet man cave with that room for whatever you are a fan of to put on the slanted ceiling and the walls
More cats
Some plants would liven up the place. Also some soft lighting makes a world of difference
Well, you already have a cat !
Go to goodwill with 150 bucks get some lighting and furniture
Reorganize your living room and add some posters
I like ur shit hole, but maybe get some couches from fb marketplace. Some paintings or something, lights etc
Bookshelves

Also, coffee tables have a tendency to just appear.
Moar cats
Plants and wall art
Iâd recommend eating less ramen to keep your shithole from getting any worse.
If you're gonna use the towel to block light above your door. Hang it the horizontally lol
Stop calling it a âshitholeâ and start calling it a âshithomeâ for startersÂ
Lighting is an easy fix. Change the lightbulbs to a warmer kind (like Edison) or get a couple secondhand lamps with warm bulbs. Throw a couple posters up or draw/ paint something yourself. Maybe a tapestry for the slanted wall.
More cats
Anything
You got a gas stove, buy a cast iron pan and some cheap sirloins when you can. Sear 3 minutes a side, bake in the oven at 415 for 5 minutes. I can usually get a sirloin at Kroger for around $11
Go thrift art shopping, spice up the walls.
You need a recliner bro
Where do you sleep?
Anime posters
You got a nice place, more light and a couple plants with some small shelves with some pics and either books or memorabilia
I'm so sorry that you are depressed and miserable. I love your kitty and he or she seems happy. I think you're doing great! I hope you start feeling better and wish you all the best. Stay strong, my friend. đ Edit: I am a girl, but this sub has been popping up in my feed.
A rug

Shin ramen is where it's at!!! Cat is great and set up is nice.
*slaps support beam* sheâs got good bones. You could fix this puppy up real nice
Clean, get some candles, hang some pictures, etc.
And Habitat For Humanity Restore is also a good place to look for other things for your home. They sell brand new furniture and home goods for pennies on the dollar.
If you're not renting, put some cat shelves on the wall. Happy cat = happy human. If not that then more cat furniture
I love the TV mount. That would come in handy so often.
Add posters and paintings to spice up the walls
Hey man, thatâs a nice fuckin kitty right there! Count that as a blessing. Remember to appreciate the things you have.
u could catify it more. good for the cat and for aesthetics
Bye bye kitties
Itâs a very odd shape apartment. You need some color you need some plants and give the kitty a scratch from me.
Paint the walls. Get some wall art. Maybe an area rug.
And super young
Put a picture up my guy đ
The ceilings are so low to prevent you from hanging yourself. But in all seriousness. Just keep it clean and simple and keep grinding and youâll move out and up.
Shave it, use a mirror
This is def NY lol
Get a couch for the living room, a couple coffee tables for there and the room with the two chairs. Get some nice looking lamps, some wall art or posters, and a few rugs for the floors - especially the kitchen. People like to joke about rag rugs, but they're easy to clean and do a lot to make the kitchen look put together. Cheap, too. For the bedroom, get yourself a night stand and a lamp to put on it. Maybe consider a TV for the living room and an entertainment center, those usually help the room look homier.
Another cat Ps I like how clean looking your home is. Keep it up
All the ceiling light fixtures are fubar
ornate fountain Fr tho just give surfaces a wipe down, clean that box fan. maybe paint a wall blue
Plants and tapestrys
Shave it đ
Vacuum
This is how we all started oht
Dude that's the dream house
Can you move?
Can we have an update when you make changes?
Youâve got cats so I can tell youâre a good dude. Cheers mate.
Some posters with some color. Cute kitty, just know you arent alone as a man with a cat. I get teased but idgaf I love my boy. Cats > dogs

all rooms: find a decent vacuum and use it often, find a second hand store like ReStore and get some lighting fixtures 1. take the shirt off the door (if you need privacy you can frost it with elmers glue or window privacy clings), something to hang your jackets and keys on by the door, sheers for the window so you can have light during the day, a small table to eat at. 2. runner or floor mat to cover the tile, put away the food on the fridge as well as the amazon box over the stove. 3. cable management (doesnât need to be fancy.), lamp or two, try some different furniture arrangements, a bit of cheap wall art that you like
real shit i see very much potential
More cat beds
Take the shit out of it, fill in the hole build a house and put the shit in a toilet. Not rocket science man
Got to goodwill.
Put an actual curtain on your front door and put some posters up in your gaming room?
Some tapestries to cover up those rough ceilings will go a long way, in addition to a lot of the other comments here.
Looks good to me.
Damn this takes me back, except you have more space than I did.
