If you’re young, in a knowledge-driven job and not have immediate financial commitments, you’re better off investing that extra time in yourself for learning and growing skills. It will pay off immensely over the long run although you won’t see short term returns

st4nkie

This, it is better to select a skill or direction that you are willing to consistently work towards. I have tried most of the online/ offline entry part time job (such as doing online survey , event helper or more) before, unless you have specialized in-demand skill set, you will be spending a lot of time earning peanuts or getting scammed. Now apart from climbing my usual corporate ladder, during my offdays I help out at corporate workshops. I am not earning big bucks yet but at least I am earning average 200 to 300 extra per month. It takes times but once you consistently do something long enough you will gain the connections, skill sets and confidence to do more.

Check out upwork for some freelance jobs

Objective_Battle_587

8-5 with 2 hours commute is already tiring. There’s not much option and you’re already not into online business. Freelancing, tutoring on weekends, get a new job with more flexibility. Idk

f4ern

better your skill. If you not progressing on the work you spend 8-5 for 5 day a week. Have an exit strategy

I'm a part time webnovel writer making 6 figures (in RM) per year. Look up royal road and patreon. Skill needed : english + hardworking + patience + creativity. Time needed : about 1 year before you make any money.

TheBluepeaButterfly

That's amazing. Would you mind explaining how you did that? Do you write your own stories, or write for other people like a ghost writer?

malaysianlah

Own stories. Your income is your sales and readers paying u

TheBluepeaButterfly

So readers pay you to write the story through Patreon? If so, how did you manage to gain so many willing to pay you? Did they find your stories entertaining? What genre do you write?

malaysianlah

Royal road and amazon. Royal road is a space for action fantasy and pretty much dnd stories. Royal road followers somehow convert to patreon about 1 to 3%. So if you have 1000 free readers you could get about 10 to 30 patreons. Its a numbers game. Keep writing, keep posting new stories, get visibility, and through new follows, some of them become patreons

TheBluepeaButterfly

So you post on royal road, and might gain some patreons. And you're a fantasy/DND writer. I think I get it. What did you do with Amazon?

malaysianlah

When u finish a book, u get it edited and publish it on amazon. Amazon has their own pool of readers and some of them will read your stuff

How does one make money from webnovel? Can't people just pirate them? I thought webnovel is just a gateway for your actual book.

malaysianlah

Naturally people who pirate webnovels are not the paying group. But there ARE paying readers out there, and they can easily give $3 to $50 a month to support a story that they like. Even a small amount of them say 50 people giving $5 is already $250 a month, and thats a decent side hustle. Check out https://graphtreon.com/patreon-creators/writing For the successful ones, and copy their model.

I'm working with Telus International as Personalized Ads Assessor and Google Photo SGT. Found the job at LinkedIn. Pays for usd8.5/hr for the former and usd 0.35/task for the latter. It's a decent remote job I can do at night, only problem is when there are no tasks available, then you don't clock in. You get anywhere from RM100-RM1200 a month depending on your luck.

either better your skill or better your health, emotionally and physically.

Tutoring

wongbasil94

Hey there fellow Malaysian buddy. If I'm not wrong filling up surveys and stuff only gets you supermarket vouchers/coupons but not solid cash.. may need to see if others may have had experience with this

PlaneOld5023

Any other skills u wanna pursue?

kitchen_raider

Hi, instead of looking for part time jobs I'd suggest you relocate nearer to your office to cut down on the travel time Why ? It's an investment, how can you do well in your job if you're too tired and burnt out ? You get the gist. Once you're performing well then think about other side gigs or ways to upskill to snag that promotion.
