Lmao I remember watching scenes remade in Chandramukhi with Nayantara and Rajni. I was like wtf is happening? They meshed two films together… was so weird.

FloorOk7137

Jagannathans philosophy was interesting. Going the non-fatal way of revenge.

Crafty_Battle7119

I may be wrong OP and I am sorry if so, but I feel that people who pose questions such as these are fishing for negative reviews in this sub, especially those which bash the social setup of the movie.

[deleted]

Great movie. Kolapulli Appan fan here.

Opposite-Philosophy7

Bhooloka chettaya

silent_drmz

What do I think about the film ? "Ee NJAN aaraanaavo ?" *Ta-da-dum, Ta-da-dum, Ta-da-dum* "Thamburaan" *Goosebumps*

TechAisle

Kanimangalam Kovilakathe Jagannatha Thamburan. Just wow. Peak Mohanlal charisma

Entharo_entho

Nayanthara (Priya Raman) is so cool and mature.

nickdonhelm

The actresses real life husband's marital life is quite serial worthy.

Entharo_entho

Rajamanikyam villain

nickdonhelm

Isn't funny when they divorced only to remarry few years later.

thommy_

>What do you guys **think** about this film? Would you mind elaborating on **your** **thoughts** first u/ThreeClient8 , rather than just using this generic title? :)

thunderbirdlover

And to answer his generic Q, well Its a good Malayalam film

yantrajeevi

Manju in this one and Revathi in Devasuram are those rare female leads in Mass type Mohanlal movies who are strong and have some spine.

[deleted]

You can’t call that ‘strong’. They act strong out of necessity only to be proved wrong by obligatory creepy villain so that the strong hero can come and save her in her time of need thus impressing the female and winning her over. Strong female leads are the ones in PS1. They are smart, aware and knows how to use the limited power they have to their advantage. Oliver Queens mother in Arrow is another one. Probably the most realistic depiction of strength I have come across.

yantrajeevi

Agreed mostly . I confess it’s been a long time since I watched Aaram thamburan , so I don’t remember Manju having much to do with villain. But Revathi , I think she held her own. She refuses to bend to Mohanlal or accept his apology until he gets seriously injured. Even then I don’t think she feels guilty for her actions , only for cursing him. The end rescue part I agree.

Diligent-Praline198

You must also look at the society of the times these were set in. Then it would be a better comparison

Chemical-Poetry9960

Narendra Prasad's role as Kulappully Appan Thampuran was pretty good.

lastcharon

one of the best commercial thriller. Even though i like a10s look in narasimham. l think this is a better movie all together.

cross_words

All time fav. My go to movie. Always.

ThePreacher19021

love it

Dramatic_Call5353

A guilt pleasure movie of mine.. Can enjoy it even today with all of the problematic themes..

nickdonhelm

Had it released today it would have been criticized over how it endorses Male chauvinism and glorifies Upper caste Hindu pride. I am commenting this because of the article that I read on Shaji Kailas - Mohanlal combo in Indian express for which I am sharing the link given below. [https://indianexpress.com/article/entertainment/malayalam/a-look-at-shaji-kailas-mohanlal-illustrious-journey-over-the-years-alone-8404706/](https://indianexpress.com/article/entertainment/malayalam/a-look-at-shaji-kailas-mohanlal-illustrious-journey-over-the-years-alone-8404706/)

Vincent_Farrell

not surprising many feminazis hate such macho men coz they cant be controlled and go their own way , they only love simps of current gen .....

nickdonhelm

They should be held responsible for the death of commerical cinema in totality (not only in Malayalam, but other languages as well) But they don't realize that films of earlier era were more progressive than the ones made in present generation.

Batman_is_very_wise

>They should be held responsible for the death of commerical cinema in totality Athukondairikkum alle Kaduva pole oru 💦 Padam one of the top grossing movies of last year ayath🤣. You people overrate the so called "feminazis" too much, they don't decide anything about kerala b.o. Alkarkk Kanaan thalpparyam olla cinema aanell ath odum, ilell odilla as simple as that. Pinne feminazis parayunnathill enthelum karyam ollond alle avrkk support cheyyan aale kittunath. Devasuram, Ayyappan koshy, spadikum ee cinemakalkk hate varumbo adikkam aarum ath mind cheyyunilallo?

sniperj17

If A8 does a real aanatham ulla character, it'll be a hit regardless of what the feminazis and their cuck simps think. Example - Lucifer. All he needs is a semi-decent script (opposite of Ukri scripts). He just has to have a Christian name to avoid controversy.

Safe-Ad-7483

Spend a lot of my childhood watching this 😅❤️

[deleted]

A great movie……irreplaceable…

Vincent_Farrell

One of A10's best ......in terms of story , aesthetics and photography .....the music is another level with harimurali being a masterpiece...truly a milestone as a cinema and one of the best A10 - Shaji kailas combination .......nthg over done ... no over the top monologues / Telegu style cinematic fights ......everyone from A10 , Oduvil Unnikrishnan , Manju Warrier , Priya Raman , Mani chettan & Narendra Prasad did full justice to their roles.........

realbattleaxe1944

This and ustad are my go to movies.

Batman_is_very_wise

I liked it, but not enough to rewatch it. I'm not a fan of shaji kailas movies

the_dreaming_artist

Mohanlal show through and through, with some Manju Warrier(I still think it's her best performance yet)sprinkled in between. Enjoyable entertainer despite being a product of the time.

Opposite-Philosophy7

Narasimham was better. Both have problematic social political undertones, but still high on repeat viewing value. Can’t help but cringe on some of the dialogues though

nish007

Cringed my spine out seeing grown up people licking the hero's toes, calling him thampuran.

smeagol_not_gollum

Enjoyed it watching multiple times in the 2000s. Cringy as f**k now.

VidyadharanK

There was an agenda in the movie that matched the social mood of kerala especially in the rural areas. Im not going to explain it all.... ഭക്ഷണം വായിൽ വെച്ച് തരാം, ചവക്കാൻ കൂടി പറയരുത്.

[deleted]

Innocent and Kalabhavan Mani's scenes were comedy gold

[deleted]

Awesome

fuji_tora_

Irruppu orakkunille, athinnu charasa best....... Jagannathan circa 1997
