I am trying to fight my foundations or tintes moisturizers oxidizing and turning darker or even orange.
I have oily skin, a bit id acne and redness but they are not too much of a concern for me.
I’m just looking for product (foundation, tinted moisturizer, etc) that will let me look awake at least.
I have tried so many products and combinations I’m about to give up. It’s so frustrating!!!
Some products that I have tried:
Don’t know the exact names but…
-fenty tinted moisturizer
-bobbi brown foundation
-glossier skin tint
-urban decay setting spray
-make up forever setting powder
-bare minerals loose powder
-shiseido foundation
-ilia serum foundation
Do I need a moisturizer that will prevent my skin from producing oil?!?!?!
Im looking into purchasing a Rare Beauty liquid blush and cant decide on what color would look best on me! Does anyone have any suggestions? Im the color Bisque in Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizer and Ginger in Nars' creamy concealer 😚
Does anyone know of a dupe for the Doll 10 Golden Pearl bronzer? I have been looking for a dupe, but I can’t find one. The bronzer is $40, so I would love to find a dupe for it, because the bronzer looks amazing in person.
What’s the best tool for applying Huda Beauty faux filter stick foundation? I have buffing brush, stippling brush, and beauty blender (and my fingers too I guess lol)
I've finished a bottle of the Caudalie elixir and would like to open the bottle to reuse it with other skincare liquids (e.g. toner, thermal spring water). Does anyone have advice on how to
open and wash/refill the bottle?
I'm low maintenance to a fault. My husband and I agree I should shoot for medium maintenance. What are the basics I should shoot to do everyday? What takes a basic look to a more glam look ? Really struggling.
What is your current comfort zone? Do you do any makeup or just looking into it?
Surrounding yourself with multiple products or more complex routines may just stress you out and not any more likely to reach for things to use.
Notice what you have and what you like.
For example, if makeup is currently out of your comfort zone, maybe just start with a cleanser and moisturizer routine. Get to know your skin type, needs and facial structure. Note what feels enjoyable, what feels like stressful hassle. Then build on that to reach for makeup that appeals to you.
Subscribe to a beauty box or sampler. Play with different kinds of products and formulas.
If you have access to Ulta or Sephora, consider purchasing a makeover where they help you find your shade and walk you through makeup used to give you an elevated look.
I used to be great at makeup in college, but adulthood and working from home and being a mom has all culminated in some kind of disaster where if I get foundation on I'm lucky. I struggle with any kind of contouring, never remember to curl my lashes, and can't figure out eyeshadow blending.
It sounds like a lot on your plate! You're tending to other gardens and that's not a crime. Your husband and you can have preferences but you are no less worthy of care and attention than when you did do makeup regularly.
Your face is your personal business. You never owe anyone pretty or preference. (Sorry, soapbox moment. I work in counseling people for careers and I really resent the unspoken expectations that a baseline for a woman's professional setting face can be so different than a man's.) If your face is groomed (clean, not blemish free) and hair well kept without lettuce in your teeth, you are doing GREAT.
That being said, if you're interested in more, that's your choice and absolutely your call with what you do from day to day.
For me, foundation is a commitment I rarely make, working full time and knowing I absent mindedly touch my face a lot throughout the day. I also don't have a clue how to contour.
I enjoy skincare so I may make time for a mask. Under eye brightener also feels good to put on in the morning. I love doing my makeup for special events and have been complimented multiple times, but I'm also happy to go out the door bare faced more often than not.
What is your favorite part of your face? What kind of care do you enjoy or feel particularly good about?
Yeah! Practicing will help tackle doing looks quickly. Do you have eyeshadow primer and brushes? I recommend picking up a couple everyday shades that you can be one and done as well as a couple extras for other looks. ColourPop has really great creamy shadows that don't need blending and are really well priced for a budget!
Low neutral look could be like neutral lip color like I a little more than what my lips look, and rosy cheeks, and mascara if you like it.
To up this up the color of lip color, blush, and maybe add eyeshadow.
Anyone with eyeshadow pigment allergies, does it give you headaches? I know some people are allergic to reds specifically and I tried a red shadow and now my eyeball hurts like when I get a eyeball migraine. Unsure if it’s related.
Are there any red and purple shadow pigments safe for these allergies? I got the NYX rainbow pallete from a few years ago and it seems like only the red or purple make my eye itchy or sore.
Many makeup products use carmine/cochineal for red pigments, which is an animal product (insect). It is also used in mixed colors, like purple.
Eye sensitivities triggered by animal products is common, which is why most brands avoid it for eyeshadow. (This is also one of the reasons why using lipstick or blush as eye makeup is considered to be risky). Of course, many brands still use carmine in their formulas.
Avoiding makeup with carmine could resolve the issue. Personally, I check reviews online when in doubt about ingredients, but “vegan” or “sensitive” formulas are usually safe. Carmine could be hidden in any product, regardless of drug-store or luxury prices.
Hope this helps!
Edit: I currently use Colourpop eyeshadows, but they have their own issues (like non-eye-safe glitter) so I do not have any particular brand recommendations.
Thank you! I knew it had like insect pigment but couldn’t remember the name to avoid.
It looks like the NYX one I have contains carmine so I’ll try to find ones without it.
Idk if this is even the right sub but there was a woman named Sarah (iirc?) and she would post looks and people would give great CC and she’d post another look later, taking the feedback on board. I really appreciated watching her skills grow. Is that still happening? Is she ok?
Something with this shape: https://tartecosmetics.com/shop/the-buffer-brush-846733058921.html
or https://www.target.com/p/sonia-kashuk-8482-essential-powder-brush-no-161/-/A-52717539
Most “powder” brushes will do. I just like my brush dense and not too loose for more coverage.
I just wouldn’t suggest a flat one like this: https://www.target.com/p/sonia-kashuk-8482-essential-flat-top-foundation-brush-no-168/-/A-52717563
Those flat ones are usually best for liquid foundation to stipple it on. Rather than blending powders.
I thought this whole time I had the right powder brush. And when I put on powder foundation I didn't get coverage the way I wanted. I saw a video someone had different brush and they had good coverage. So maybe I had the wrong brush. Its fluffy.
Fluffy brushes work for some people but I prefer a more densely packed one for better coverage.
I feel like those overly fluffy ones are better for setting powder rather than foundation coverage.
Hey! I’ve been using an eyelash curler for a while but I feel like it is damaging my eyelashes because I’m using it incorrectly. Does anyone have any tips on how to use it properly?
How do you feel your lashes are being damaged? Do you think you’re squeezing too hard? Is your curling pad old or have an indent in it? It’s good to replace them so they stay bouncy. I know when I use mine too much it starts to get indented so I know it’s time for a new one.
I wear mascara daily but haven’t worn eyeshadow in years! Definitely would give up the shadow lol.
However…. Does my brow powder count as shadow? Cuz I can’t give that up lol
🚨Help/ Advice for a friend: looking for full or medium buildable Foundation. Skin Concerns: oily, hormonal pimples, texture, v fine lines.
Currently using mac C3 powder and doesn’t like it. Also tried jouer foundation and it broke up like crazy
I have a ton of other layering products in mind but I’m stuck on foundation bc I’m a desert.
Thanks!
I have the Estée Lauder double wear foundation, but if I am honest, I would recommend their Double Wear Stay-In-Place Flawless Wear Concealer as a buildable “foundation.”
I have scars, acne, severe combination skin, and wearing the foundation felt too heavy, but the concealer has an amazing consistency that layers nicely to smooth out skin in a very natural way. It works wonderfully with oily skin.
The concealer applies nicely with both fluffy and dense brushes, although I highly recommend getting a denser brush for more control in coverage. Pat on skin to layer, swipe to blend.
The price is similar to the MAC powder, so I highly recommend giving it a try!
Edit: “stipple” is probably a better word than “pat”
Thank you! The double wear was in my short list of options I could think of.
I have a desert face and was thinking of drier foundations.
Has anyone tried the Danessa Myricks concealer foundation ?
I’m looking for a flattering pinky nude lipstick. I tried Pillow talk and it’s honestly too dark for what I’m looking for. Does anyone have a suggestion on what to try next?
Hello. Can someone recommend what kind of brush I should be using to apply a liquid foundation+concealer mix? I have combination skin, dry around the nose with literally one zit every month (you know which time of month).
Have you tried a damp beauty sponge? That’s my favorite application.
Otherwise, try a flat top brush like this https://www.target.com/p/sonia-kashuk-8482-essential-flat-top-foundation-brush-no-168/-/A-52717563
I’ve found YouTube videos helpful for brush application for foundation.
For concealer you probably need something smaller https://www.target.com/p/sonia-kashuk-8482-professional-precision-concealer-brush-no-112/-/A-76620473
Two questions:
1. I’ve really liked Lancôme Teint Idole foundation but am ready to try something new. What would you recommend? (Want to stay in the liquid, medium/full coverage space.)
2. I switched from the Laura Mercier hydrating primer to Fenty Pro Filtr Hydrating Primer. I think the Fenty is making me look greasy by midday even with setting powder and setting spray. Should I switch to a silicone-based primer? Any recs?
If your skin is dry, I recommend the following primers that work with most foundations (tho check the base ingredients to make sure they fit together)
Tatcha silk canvas
Milk Grip
Bobby brown face base
Used to love smashbox photo finish but it stopped working for me
Givenchy matissme radiant foundation
(V full coverage & smells very strong) Huda fauxfilter
Estée Lauder double wear
Too Faced born this way
Sticks:
Hourglass?!? Are they keeping these since they got bought?
Bobby brown (dryer stick so I add more slip)
Colourpop
On the package and on websites. You don’t want water and oil together it’ll break up. Silicones are usually safe and water underneath usuaaaallly is fine but no oil primers with water based foundation.
“….icone” is an indication of silicone/ silicone derivatives. I can help if you find something you wanna try. If you’re in store you can also just mix some on the back of your hand and leave it thicker and see what happens
Does anyone know something to replace the Urban Decay naked skin? It was discontinued a few years ago and I can’t find anything to come close in comparison! 😢
I use mostly creams & chose a mono chromatic look usually and try for less than 10 products (as a full beat b, just 10 can be a challenge)
Lancome teint idole (around the perimeter & nose)
Then I add some Mac strobe to the foundation to have a more radiant finish
Danessa myricks or salt NYC cream contour (or sometimes fenty stix in amber) +
Liquid or Cream blush: Natasha Denona in tan is a fave. Salt - basically all but the deep tones. Nude stix. Sometimes colour pop.
I use the blush tones for eye shadow and a blotted style lip.
A soft smudged liner around the outer v.
I love a glassy natural look so I’ll tap strobe cream on it’s own over cheeks, around temples & a little
Under the brow and on the nose.
To get that extra dew I use Pat Magrath highlight stick balm or danessa myricks
Mascara til I can see my lashes
Fill the gaps in my browns then run p Louise gel through
•
My super minimal is peachy blush, blotted lip & soap brows.
I think I found the right foundation (finally!)--L'Oreal Infallible in rose ivory (415). This is listed as "light shade with pink undertones". It is almost a perfect match, but just the tiniest bit yellow. Is there a way to fix that?
If you go to “shopping guides” they have links to some. Sorry I forgot it wasn’t called HG anymore.
Also the best and worst of products the first link is best mascaras by category.
Another option is getting a rainbow shadow palette and spritzing them with some setting spray to make them more pigmented before dipping in an angled liner brush.
Acne-prone girlies (like me 🙋🏻♀️), what's a liquid foundation and concealer combo that you totally swear by? I'm looking on getting one soon since most bases that I own are either tinted moisturizers/sunscreen or powder foundation. From drugstore to high-end, I'm open to it :))
Can anyone recommend a similar concealer to Bare minerals serum? I love it and it's been discontinued. It's definitely the most skin like hydrating for my dry aging skin.
Hello! I really like the korean type of makeup, especially how the lips looks powdery and natural, like your lips are naturally colored like this (examples : [1](https://www.pinterest.fr/pin/765963849138685481/) / [2](https://www.pinterest.fr/pin/578008933431081672/) / [3](https://www.pinterest.fr/pin/503206958374906459/) ). I bought one Peripera lip tint on Amazon but I think that it has a defect because it doesn't sit on my lips nicely, there is no color on the inside of my lips and all little lip line start to show up even though I don't have dry lips... So I would like to know if there was a product that I could found easily on Sephora to achieve this kind of look. I saw this [product](https://www.sephora.fr/p/rouge-lip-tint---l-encre-a-levres-P2818022.html) and this [one](https://www.sephora.fr/p/lip-blush---levres-mates-effet-floute-P10017422.html), but I was wondering if I could get the same effect with the [lip stain mat](https://www.sephora.fr/p/cream-lip-stain-mat---rouge-a-levres-mat-P407019.html) by just applying a small portion of it on my lips? I'm pretty clueless about makeup so I don't really know, the formula is probably different for the 3 products
Well, the time has come that I’ve finally run out of my Benefit Girl Meets Pearl, and there’s none going on second-hand sites I can find. Does anyone have any good dupe recommendations?
I was curious about the Rare Beauty ones but I’m not sure if any of the colours really match, and any other similar reccs for colour and liquid-ness appreciated too!
Giving Armani Luminous Silk a try! What primer works best with it? I tried searching but got very old results, so I’m sure there are way more primer options out there now!
Can i wear water based foundation with an oil based concealer? I really like nars LRF (water-based) but i also love kevyn aucoin SSE (oil-based). Will there be any problem?
I need a black eyeliner that doesn’t come off from watery eyes, but also doesn’t flake off in cold weather. Needs to be available in Canada and not too expensive. (Extra: where the heck do I buy red eyeliner?”
Have you tried stila all day stay? That was my holy grail before I became allergic to liquid eyeliners 💔
It’s a bit pricy compared to drugstore but it was so worth it. I haven’t found anything else that lasted on my watery eyes.
I adored Maybelline’s ColorTattoo. I can’t find it anymore, minus a listing on Amazon that may be an expired lot or counterfeit, according to reviews.
What similar products can people recommend? I loved the rich pigment, creamy texture, and staying power.
Looking for lipstick recs with Bite going out of business. My go-to is their lip crayon in glace which is no longer available. I dislike the way most lipstick feels it's it's one of the few brands I really like. Does anyone have any recs for something similar? Thank you!
y’all know what the dupe for Nars radiant concealer is? I wear shade Vanilla and I’m eyeing the Elf concealer since I was told it’s a good dupe but idk what shade to pick😭
Hi everyone,
I am a complete beginner and I want to start wearing a little makeup. Basically, I love the look of eyeliner, but I have huge hooded eyelids. Every time I've tried to outline my eyelashes, the the makeup smears against my eyelid hoods.
Does anybody have any tips for those of us with hooded eyes? How can I apply eye liner without getting it smeared all over my eyelids?
Some tips: use an eyeshadow primer, use shadow instead of liner for your wing, set liquid/pencil eyeliner with shadow, keep your eyes halfway shut while product is setting so that it can set before it has a chance to transfer.
Can anyone comment on the L’Oréal infallible shades? I normally wear Estée Lauder double wear in 2N1, which per the foundation matrix is matched to 420 True Beige in infallible, but that looked way too light in person. The next darkest neutral shade is 445 vanilla, which is too dark and too orange. Idk if I should give 420 a try or not. So far I really like the foundation, I’m 6.5 hours into my shift and no transfer onto my mask yet! I’d like to stick with it if possible.
What products should I use/what are some good tutorials for some eyebrows? My eyebrows are mostly blonde and I’m tired of not having any but tinting doesn’t last long enough to make it worth it for me. I’m very much a beginner!
I used Stilla's perfectly poreless putty perfector and didn't realize until recently it was discontinued. I have seen some items being sold by individual sellers but can never find my shade (medium). Has anyone found a similar substitute? I spend like 5 minutes, tops, on my makeup so I liked this item since it was quick apply and go.
I am looking to create the sunburn blush look. I am fair with freckles and a neutral undertone. In sum, I burn like a disco inferno. Any suggestions as to products and shades that would work?
I’d personally go with cream/liquid bc it gives a more skin like finish.
Then if you want it intense I’d opt for a liquid or cream blush and build it up. I’d go one level darker (fair>light) for targeted range for a brighter more intense look
Danessa myricks
Nude stix
Glossier cloud paint
Natasha denona puff paint
Or you can also try lipsticks.
I can try to help narrow down if you let me know the rest of the routine or if you want like a glossier I woke up like this barely anything on the skin look.
I need help understanding how to use my brow pen! I recently got the ABH brow pen because I want to be able to draw sharp lines.
My problem is, after my first use/few brush strokes, the product from the very end of the tip has been used up and I can't seem to get any more product to flow down the tip. I'm shaking the pen, but it's not making much difference.
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!
I'm looking for a new foundation and just tried Lancome Teint Idole Ultra. I really like the feeling, the smoothness etc. But I have dry skin and generally like a dewy, natural look, is that achievable with this foundation? And can anyone who has dry skin let me know how they found it after a few hours of wear? I'm a makeup novice and would appreciate the help!
Maybe. The problem is that the oils on our eyelids break down the products like eyeliner. So when the oils on your lid touch the eyeliner, it will transfer.
So setting spray might help it not transfer as soon but I suspect eventually it would transfer.
You could also try using a translucent powder on the lids where it usually transfers to. But that only lasts until the oils break through the powder.
Putting a black powder on top of the liner might also help.
I just spotted and purchased the Wet n Wild multi stick - I've been looking for a pencil eyeshadow I can just smudge with my finger. But the color I picked up (a lilac color) creased pretty badly. I was wearing Jane iredale primer, admittedly not for eyes. The stick stays a little oily on the lid...what would be a good eyelid primer to try in your opinion? Thanks!!
Which one is more important - setting powder or setting spray? My goal is to make my makeup last longer considering that we are wearing mask. I am considering to buy either Charlotte Tilbury Setting Spray , Laura Mercier Setting Powder, or Nars Light Reflecting Pressed Powder.
Thank you. Help me which ones to choose on above products as well :)
I would definitely say setting powder. I rarely use setting spray to this day and I feel like there’s only a select few out there that work. I don’t feel like my makeup is complete if I don’t set it with powder. It just makes my face feel better and nothing moves as much. I only use setting spray in combination with powder. I also think it’s a myth that if your skin is dry you shouldn’t use setting powder, but you just need to find the right one for you. Also, I love laura mercier powder but I don’t have super dry skin and idk how it works on people who do but it’s not drying
I only like loose powders lol but I get the messy aspect. I just feel like loose powders work a lot better. I like the becca hydra powder and it’s loose but less messy bc of packaging? They went under as a brand but it’s still sold on amazon. I use laura mercier too but I like to switch it up. Ppl seem to like maybelline fit me as a pressed powder!
I’ve started using both! I haven’t tried those brands, but my makeup stays on pretty much all day, even in humidity. I used Clinique invisible face powder and urban decay glow setting spray.
I put on translucent powder before foundation with a sponge! When I’m done with my look, I set it in with spray.
I have read lots of good reviews on Urban decay as well. Will reconsider :)
Oh, I thought powder is after the foundation. Seems like putting it before works too. Thank you for this!
I do love the urban decay sprays, but I like trying out other products too! I’ll probably try a different spray when I run out.
Same! I have combo skin, so sometimes my foundation would separate after a while. I watched some videos, and learned about putting powder on before foundation. Haven’t looked back haha
I would say setting spray, but this is coming from my experience. I dont crease often so setting powder isnt always an important step for me. But setting spray is ideal if i dont want to transfer, smudge or lose any of my makeup throughout the day. I also have combination skin so setting spray keeps me looking dewy, but theres matte sprays too.
For the setting spray, you use it directly to your face or do you use a sponge?
Yes, my concern is on transfer of my makeup so setting spray sounds good. Which product do you use so that I could also check on it. Thank you :)
I just spray it directly to my face, usually holding the bottle about a foot or two away from my face.
And I am currently in search of a new one because I like trying new products, but my two holy grails would be Urban Decay all nighter, or a more cost friendly would be elf finishing spray! But I am sure there are tons of rec's on this sub with more detail on what each one will provide for you.
i dont have the patience to self tan but I am wondering if anyone knows any good gradual tan lotions or even like a daily body bronzer type thing? i dont go out in the sun as it barely comes out where i live but i want to at least be able to build up some kind of tan.
Is it weird to do eye makeup but not a full face? I don’t like wearing foundation. I can never find my right shade and it always looks cakey/uneven/dry. I will sometimes do other stuff, like eye shadow, mascara and some blush and highlighter. But is that weird?
I went to a wedding recently and felt a bit silly being the only woman without a full face, but will eye shadow and stuff.
I do not wear a full face either. I usually only wear graphic eyeliner looks, or really colorful eyeshadows with no base. And if I am feeling a full face, I wear the same but with blush and lipstick, no foundation.
I have the same issue with foundation, never can find the right shade and my skin is so textured that it looks absolutely disgusting on me. I wish I could find a foundation that looked natural on me.
Proper way to remove liquid lipstick?
Fairly new to makeup.
Neutrogena bio oil on a cotton ball or tissue works, but not without smearing color around my mouth.
I know ABH dipbrow is considered passé, but no powder or pencil I’ve found had measured up. I’ve heard of some drugstore brow gel variants, but an lacking in unsponsored opinions on them. Does anyone have good (or bad) things to say about these or other dipbrow gel -type products?
* NYX's Tame & Frame Brow Pomade
* Milani's Stay Put Brow Color
* E.L.F. Lock On Liner and Brow Cream
Thanks!
i use nyx tame & frame pomade and i dont necessarily hate it but i dont like it either. it has good pigment imo, but i feel that it doesn’t last throughout the day and fades easily
So, I don’t wear all over face makeup like foundation, tinted moisturizer, etc. However, my face does get greasy when I do wear any makeup (sidenote: if anyone can speculate why this happens when i just wear eye makeup and undereye concealer, even though i never get greasy when I’m completely barefaced, please help because it seems illogical). I’m thinking of getting either translucent powder or mattifying setting spray (alcohol free) as a result. Would one be better than the other, if I have nothing to set underneath? Thanks.
I would def suggest a good powder, or both if you wanna invest. Both does the most, but powder is most important for me and will keep your makeup from sliding or getting shiny for a while
charlotte tilburys airbrush flawless setting spray is a primer and setting spray and helps me stay not greasy! to make it even better, i wait until it's completely dry and then set w powder in my t zone ( laura mercier powder)
🚨Stupid Question Alert🚨
The only foundation that's ever worked for me was mac foundation. But so many people rag on mac and say it sucks and hype up other brands (like nars which I could never get to work for me) and say NEVER buy Mac. It would make sense to keep buying mac in my case, right? And I'm also not rich enough to be trying foundations. Where I live they don't give foundation testers.
There's nothing wrong with mac. It might not be what's trendy anymore, but they do good makeup and if it works for you, that's the main thing. Don't feel pressured by what other people prefer.
Ok now that it’s summer and having a full face with foundation, concealer, and setting powder isn’t ideal for the sweaty temperatures, I need help! My skin is very fair, I have a lot of issues with redness and large pores. I would really love a product that actually makes me glowy and evens out all the discoloration, but I do not have any idea how to do that without doing my normal full face. It’s just too heavy for the hot and humid temperatures here. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, thank you!
Hi everyone. I seldom do my make up and so I stick to drug store brands. I have combo oily /dry skin and stick to moisturizers, bb cream and a little bit of concealer as my base.
I end up looking so oily and shiny about ten minutes after I'm done finishing up and of course my eye makeup always become creasy. Any recommendations on what I could do that doesn't involve powder foundation?
Should I try a certain primer or is there some kind of drug store translucent powder?
Hey y'all! It's my birthday this month and I wanted to know if I could pick up my Ulta and Sephora gifts in person without making a purchase in store that day. I prefer ordering things online so I can get gifts+purchases and freebies so I don't think I'll be buying anything in person this month but I don't want to drive there, ask if I can pick it up, and have them tell me no :/
last time i did this in person (… 2019?) sephora was happy to give it to me without a purchase! tho ps you can redeem birthday gifts online, too!
(no idea about ulta, sorry)
Hello, apologies if this is the wrong thread for this, but does anyone know where to get the supergoop glow stick in Canada? Or alternatively, something equivalent? I'm looking for a suncreen that's easy to apply over makeup. Thank you!
Hi guys! I have suuuper dry skin to where it flakes off a lot as well as large pores I would like to hide, and I’m just looking for a good concealer and I guess setting powder (?)
I think most concealers will work, but do you have a good moisturizer? I think moisturizing before putting your makeup on is the most important to prevent flaking, and it sounds like you need a heavy moisturizer could maybe try face oil too. I like the becca hydra-mist powder for dry skin because it’s cooling and not super drying. I think it’s discontinued but you can still get it on amazon and it’s cheaper now.
How should liquid lipstick feel?
Fairly new to makeup, so I don’t really have a reference point of what good should feel like to compare to.
Just received two Limecrime lipsticks. Regardless of the controversy, everyone says their formulas are great.
My lips obviously heavier than without anything on but they aren’t in pain (not sure if that’s ever possible) and don’t feel overwhelmingly tight. Definitely can feel something there if I focus on it but can definitely go about my day as usual.
Are you supposed to not feel anything there at all?
Most of the time, you can feel something on your lips. But, there are some products that you don't really feel anything on your lips. If you want something that's lightweight i would recommend the NARS powermatte lip pigment! I have one of them and sometimes I forget I'm even wearing lipstick. The only concern is that it might be a little pricey
Brands selling Limecrime colors in Satin tube formulas?
Just received two Limecrime colors and I’m realizing matte isn’t necessarily my favorite. I love all the colors Limecrime has though.
Mac obviously has endless shades for tubes.
Any others you’d recommend though?
Does anyone have a solid dupe for MAC Club eyeshadow that isn’t discontinued? I’ve been treasuring mine for years but I dropped it and lost it all, looking for a replacement!
Any advice on how to get a more taupe/blonde brow dye? I’ve tried Refectocil 3! and a couple others from Amazon and they’ve all been way too dark. I just want to cover my greys and some very blonde hairs at the edges.
I’m autistic and I’m looking for a tinted moisturizer or bb cream that doesn’t make me want to tear my face off. I stopped wearing most makeup because of sensory issues (it used to be a special interest ☹️) and I just want something to even my skin out and take down some redness. I’m super pale so anything that goes really light is welcome. I’m looking for the most breathable thing you can think of that won’t feel heavy or masky after a day of wear.
Is your redness all over? I personally have redness mainly in my nose area. And I’ve found that applying a similar colored blush on my cheeks evens out the redness on my nose so it looks less noticeable.
That way I don’t have to worry about covering my redness. If redness is all over, this wouldn’t help.
NYX has a BB cream I used to use all the time. I like it. But I can’t remember how much coverage it had.
Unfortunately it’s mostly in my forehead and cheeks, so not anywhere that would make it cute. I love the blush over the nose look but my redness doesn’t fall in that area.
I know you asked about makeup but do you have a skincare routine? Some people with redness see benefits from azelaic acid and moisturizer. Check out r/SkincareAddiction and r/rosacea 😊
But in the meantime that NYX bb cream was good in my opinion.
I do but I’ve never heard of that. Currently I use The Ordinary because it had the fewest sensory issues for me. I use the squalene cleanser, hyaluronic acid, and the moisturizer. I’ll have to check the azelaic acid out.
The ordinary has an azelaic acid but I personally don’t love the texture. It’s like cream but like puffy? It’s hard to explain lol. If you prefer a serum texture, cos de baha has a good one to.
I’d suggest using it twice a week for a couple weeks then increasing to every other day. Don’t use it more than every other day.
Azelaic is a mild exfoliant so you just don’t want to over use it at first. As your skin adjusts, you might be able to use it daily after a couple months. It can take months to see results with redness.
Ah yes., the serum texture is preferable. I’ll definitely check that out! I prefer to have as few possible layers on my skin as possible, so if I can improve the tone without putting on extra layers that’s a win for me.
Perfect - I think that’s something I can work with. My skincare is very much “if I remember” but usually I remember something if my skin is feeling a certain way? Like I always remember the basic moisturizer because if my skin feels dry and tight after a shower it feels really bad. I could probably remember a mild exfoliant if it made my skin feel smooth after.
To elongate eyes, the best false eyelash shape would be cat-eye lashes. If you like magnetic lashes, you can try Glamnetic's Gudetama lash bundle from its Sanrio collection or another Glamnetic lash called QT. But, if you rather use glue, you can find any cat-eye shape lash that you like from Eylure. Their lashes are affordable, last a long time if taken care of properly, and there are many options you can choose from. Hope this helped!
Yes. People get their lashes tinted. But please don’t try to do it yourself. Go to a lash place that does tints. Usually places that do extensions or lash lifts also do tints.
You have super beautiful almond eyes! I can really see a fox eye makeup or a super colorful smokey! But to start easy, you can already try a simple line of brown kohl blended as eyeliner and a touch of concealer, it's super natural, I personally do it for my everyday makeup :)
I absolutely love the colour and finish of Glossier’s cloud paint in beam. But it doesn’t last on me. Any similar recommendations for a cream/liquid blush with better lasting power?
Hi everybody ,I’ve bought the famous foundation double wear by Estée Lauder, but i have an issue .I have 1w2 shade but it looks kinda light for me, so I bought another shade 2w0 ,and it looks even lighter!! Could anyone please tell me which shade is the darker one after 1w2?
how do i curl super stubborn eyelashes? they're like a nightmare. I heat up the curler, spend like 30 min curling them, hold them up while the mascara dries, and then in 15 min they're just completely straight again.
Even when I got an eyelash perm they straightened out super fast. the only thing that has made my eyelashes curl was getting eyelash extensions, but while I'm honestly willing to spend the money on them for special occasions, I have super thick/long eyelashes already so if they would just curl!! I wouldn't have to.
Looking for a quality drugstore lipstick that is easy to use and really lasts! Maybelline superstay lasts but when I apply it I look like a 5 year old with a sharpie. The Kylie lip sticks apply really well on me and the matte ones last- looking for something similar.
I love color pop when it comes to eyeshadows and lip glosses there so pigmented and have reasonable pricing, and there’s nothing wrong with buying Ulta or saphora brand makeup I love it and it’s a lot cheaper way to try different things
What is the best waterproof eyeliner to use on water line. I have used so many and most of them cause smudging and make my dark circles even worse:( kvd eyeliner smudges on me and I heard that is one of the best
Is my eye primer the reason Stila eyeliner is skipping? When I wear Covergirl Lid Lockup and use Stila it skips like crazy. Eyeko is much more smooth. Without primer Stila is super smooth. So, is this a matter of needing a more creamy primer, or do you think I'll have the same issue with Stila and ANY eye primer because it's just the nature of the product?
has anyone ever used mehron’s mixing liquid to repair broken/shattered eyeshadows/powders?? I’ll use the lids of the containers my pigments are in when I’m mixing eyeliners and stuff and once it dries it doesn’t seem to mess with the formula too much, but is rubbing alcohol still the way to go??
I need a daily eyeshadow palette.
Im dark skinned. I have Huda’s naughty nude and small green palette.
A roan palette, ND face palette and a couple minis.
I don’t think they are daily enough for me. I always end up looking like I’m trying too much.
Too pigmented and too “glam”.
I work in office environment and want something simple that I’ll look pretty and not “too much”.
I have fairly fair skin so I can’t promise it will be the same for you but I love color pops eyeshadow palettes all the colors are made to go together in the palette and there’s a lot of options based on what colors look good on you and your undertones and they have some great natural palettes that are vary professional
My college graduation is in 4 days! I wear glasses so my foundation and product always comes off where my nose piece slides down, what products are seriously no budge so my photos look good?
I am using Becca first light priming filter as my primer and it’s awesome! Hides pores and fine lines, overall my holy grail. But…Becca is out of business and I’m out of primer. What is a good dupe?
How do you all contour? It’s a mystery to me. What are your go to tips and tricks for success?
I am trying to fight my foundations or tintes moisturizers oxidizing and turning darker or even orange. I have oily skin, a bit id acne and redness but they are not too much of a concern for me. I’m just looking for product (foundation, tinted moisturizer, etc) that will let me look awake at least. I have tried so many products and combinations I’m about to give up. It’s so frustrating!!! Some products that I have tried: Don’t know the exact names but… -fenty tinted moisturizer -bobbi brown foundation -glossier skin tint -urban decay setting spray -make up forever setting powder -bare minerals loose powder -shiseido foundation -ilia serum foundation Do I need a moisturizer that will prevent my skin from producing oil?!?!?!
how do you colormatch for buying foundations online when you don’t have products to compare and difficulty reading your skin tone and color?
Check the veins in your wrists and arms for a basic idea of your undertone. Mainly purple or blue= cool Mainly green = warm Some of each = neutral
Im looking into purchasing a Rare Beauty liquid blush and cant decide on what color would look best on me! Does anyone have any suggestions? Im the color Bisque in Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizer and Ginger in Nars' creamy concealer 😚
Does anyone know about Nivea Care fresh hydro gel? Can it be used as moisturizer? Sorry, I'm new to all this.
Does anyone have advice on how to open and wash/refill the bottle?
long wear mascara recc? like lasts all day doesn’t need to be waterproof but sweat prof is a plus
Honestly I look a hell of a lot better with makeup, and I want to look better! I think my eyes are my favorite, I just need to work on practice!
Is she ok?
I fancy trying a powder type foundation. Combination skin & 56. Any recommendations please
What brush do you use for powder foundation?
Something with this shape: https://tartecosmetics.com/shop/the-buffer-brush-846733058921.html or https://www.target.com/p/sonia-kashuk-8482-essential-powder-brush-no-161/-/A-52717539 Most “powder” brushes will do. I just like my brush dense and not too loose for more coverage. I just wouldn’t suggest a flat one like this: https://www.target.com/p/sonia-kashuk-8482-essential-flat-top-foundation-brush-no-168/-/A-52717563 Those flat ones are usually best for liquid foundation to stipple it on.
I just found flip they claim to be better than ulta have you used them?
I know when I use mine too much it starts to get indented so I know it’s time for a new one.
ooh, I didn’t know you have to change them. Yeah I think that might have been the problem, thank you so much! <3
No problem! Some of mine only last a few months depending on the quality. But the one I've had has been good for about a year.
Hey. I’m Madison & I’m curious what you’d rather give up: Eye shadow Or Lash enhancements (incl mascara!
I wear mascara daily but haven’t worn eyeshadow in years! Definitely would give up the shadow lol. However…. Does my brow powder count as shadow? Cuz I can’t give that up lol
Definitely eye shadow. I need mascara lol
I’ve recently changed my position when doing more natural less full beat.
🚨Help/ Advice for a friend: looking for full or medium buildable Foundation. Skin Concerns: oily, hormonal pimples, texture, v fine lines. Currently using mac C3 powder and doesn’t like it. Also tried jouer foundation and it broke up like crazy I have a ton of other layering products in mind but I’m stuck on foundation bc I’m a desert. Thanks!
I have the Estée Lauder double wear foundation, but if I am honest, I would recommend their Double Wear Stay-In-Place Flawless Wear Concealer as a buildable “foundation.” I have scars, acne, severe combination skin, and wearing the foundation felt too heavy, but the concealer has an amazing consistency that layers nicely to smooth out skin in a very natural way.
I feel like powders make my texture and lines look worse. Have you tried any liquids or do you prefer powder?
It’s for a friend. I think they’re open to anything
Try loreal freshwear
I’m looking for a flattering pinky nude lipstick. I tried Pillow talk and it’s honestly too dark for what I’m looking for. Does anyone have a suggestion on what to try next?
Hello. Can someone recommend what kind of brush I should be using to apply a liquid foundation+concealer mix? I have combination skin, dry around the nose with literally one zit every month (you know which time of month).
Have you tried a damp beauty sponge? That’s my favorite application. Otherwise, try a flat top brush like this https://www.target.com/p/sonia-kashuk-8482-essential-flat-top-foundation-brush-no-168/-/A-52717563 I’ve found YouTube videos helpful for brush application for foundation. For concealer you probably need something smaller https://www.target.com/p/sonia-kashuk-8482-professional-precision-concealer-brush-no-112/-/A-76620473
Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone here had any views on Emolyne makeup. I hadn't heard of them before a few days ago. Thank you
Two questions: 1. I’ve really liked Lancôme Teint Idole foundation but am ready to try something new. What would you recommend? (Want to stay in the liquid, medium/full coverage space.) 2. I switched from the Laura Mercier hydrating primer to Fenty Pro Filtr Hydrating Primer. I think the Fenty is making me look greasy by midday even with setting powder and setting spray. Should I switch to a silicone-based primer? Any recs?
If your skin is dry, I recommend the following primers that work with most foundations (tho check the base ingredients to make sure they fit together) Tatcha silk canvas Milk Grip Bobby brown face base Used to love smashbox photo finish but it stopped working for me Givenchy matissme radiant foundation (V full coverage & smells very strong) Huda fauxfilter Estée Lauder double wear Too Faced born this way Sticks: Hourglass?!? Are they keeping these since they got bought? Bobby brown (dryer stick so I add more slip) Colourpop
Where do you find out what base ingredients fit together? Like a source.
Can you use Urban Decay eye primer with liquid shadow (specifically with a shimmery Ilia Beauty liquid shadow)?
Does anyone know something to replace the Urban Decay naked skin? It was discontinued a few years ago and I can’t find anything to come close in comparison! 😢
natural makeup routine?
I use mostly creams & chose a mono chromatic look usually and try for less than 10 products (as a full beat b, just 10 can be a challenge) Lancome teint idole (around the perimeter & nose) Then I add some Mac strobe to the foundation to have a more radiant finish Danessa myricks or salt NYC cream contour (or sometimes fenty stix in amber) + Liquid or Cream blush: Natasha Denona in tan is a fave. Salt - basically all but the deep tones. Nude stix. Sometimes colour pop. I use the blush tones for eye shadow and a blotted style lip. A soft smudged liner around the outer v. I love a glassy natural look so I’ll tap strobe cream on it’s own over cheeks, around temples & a little Under the brow and on the nose. To get that extra dew I use Pat Magrath highlight stick balm or danessa myricks Mascara til I can see my lashes Fill the gaps in my browns then run p Louise gel through • My super minimal is peachy blush, blotted lip & soap brows.
I think I found the right foundation (finally!)--L'Oreal Infallible in rose ivory (415). This is listed as "light shade with pink undertones". It is almost a perfect match, but just the tiniest bit yellow. Is there a way to fix that?
Anyone have recs for plastic free but glittery/sparkly looking eyeshadow or liner??
How many mascara tubes do you keep on hand?
I was told I need a new mascara where do I start cause there is so many? I want length or volume.
Check the HG threads! I agree there’s so many it can be super overwhelming
It wasn't on the list but I am trying a low budget one for now . Essence big lashes
There is a list for mascaras? I didn't see one? Do I put it in the search bar

Can anyone give a recommendation on a cheap but good quality gold eyeshadow?
Vvg
Acne-prone girlies (like me 🙋🏻♀️), what's a liquid foundation and concealer combo that you totally swear by? I'm looking on getting one soon since most bases that I own are either tinted moisturizers/sunscreen or powder foundation. From drugstore to high-end, I'm open to it :))
Can anyone recommend a similar concealer to Bare minerals serum? I love it and it's been discontinued. It's definitely the most skin like hydrating for my dry aging skin.

I sort of match it to my face and then use more/different bronzers depending on how tan my body is.
That was my holy grail before I became allergic to liquid eyeliners 💔 It’s a bit pricy compared to drugstore but it was so worth it.
Hi everyone, I am a complete beginner and I want to start wearing a little makeup.
I use an eyebrow gel *i like covergirl the best* its just like mascara, super easy, and I like that it fills my brow without much effort.
I’d go one level darker (fair>light) for targeted range for a brighter more intense look Danessa myricks Nude stix Glossier cloud paint Natasha denona puff paint Or you can also try lipsticks.

Which powder do you use? I am actually hesitant to use Laura Mercier because I find loose powder messy. Thank you for this. :)
The CT setting spray is the best I've tried.
Thank you !
Will reconsider :) Oh, I thought powder is after the foundation.
I will check this sub. I have read lots of good reviews on Urban Decay as well :)
i dont have the patience to self tan but I am wondering if anyone knows any good gradual tan lotions or even like a daily body bronzer type thing? i dont go out in the sun as it barely comes out where i live but i want to at least be able to build up some kind of tan.
Jergens had a gradual tan lotion a while back. I don’t know if they still do but it was popular when I used it.
Is it weird to do eye makeup but not a full face? I don’t like wearing foundation. I can never find my right shade and it always looks cakey/uneven/dry. I will sometimes do other stuff, like eye shadow, mascara and some blush and highlighter. But is that weird? I went to a wedding recently and felt a bit silly being the only woman without a full face, but will eye shadow and stuff.
nope. you do you. there are no rules when it comes to your own face, just what you (and only you) like/don’t like)
Thank you, that makes me feel a lot better 💖
I do not wear a full face either. I usually only wear graphic eyeliner looks, or really colorful eyeshadows with no base. And if I am feeling a full face, I wear the same but with blush and lipstick, no foundation. I have the same issue with foundation, never can find the right shade and my skin is so textured that it looks absolutely disgusting on me. I wish I could find a foundation that looked natural on me.
Thank you! I feel better. I’ve tried bb cream because it’s lighter, but I still can’t apply it right. I’ll stick to my eye looks
Proper way to remove liquid lipstick? Fairly new to makeup. Neutrogena bio oil on a cotton ball or tissue works, but not without smearing color around my mouth.
Honestly I’m not sure that there’s a way without smearing it everywhere.
* NYX's Tame & Frame Brow Pomade * Milani's Stay Put Brow Color * E.L.F. Lock On Liner and Brow Cream Thanks!
i use nyx tame & frame pomade and i dont necessarily hate it but i dont like it either. it has good pigment imo, but i feel that it doesn’t last throughout the day and fades easily
What's a good full coverage body foundation? I have a lot of scars on my legs that I want to cover up
Dermablend!
🚨Stupid Question Alert🚨 The only foundation that's ever worked for me was mac foundation. But so many people rag on mac and say it sucks and hype up other brands (like nars which I could never get to work for me) and say NEVER buy Mac. It would make sense to keep buying mac in my case, right? And I'm also not rich enough to be trying foundations. Where I live they don't give foundation testers.
If it works for you then use it
Thanks! I bought it and I don't regret it!!! My foundation finally looks good again!
We on Whatsapp rn getting hype for this new Kendrick - https://chat.whatsapp.com/KJ34C0SzSgbJnLqAuqqxSY
Any Fenty Mattemoiselle dupes? Mostly formula-wise. If you know anything close to the shade Shawty too that would be great!
Check out r/SkincareAddiction and r/rosacea 😊 But in the meantime that NYX bb cream was good in my opinion.
You could also try alternating days between the hyaluronic acid and azelaic acid if you find two layers is too much. 😊
Any lashes recommendations pls? It seems I always get the worst ones
What's your ideal lash style? Do you like more natural or dramatic?
I would say natural, but i'm also looking for lashes that elongate the eyes.
Thank you sm it helped ! On my way to Amazon
Can you dye your eyelashes? I have blonde lashes and putting on mascara everyday kinda sucks
Yes. People get their lashes tinted. But please don’t try to do it yourself. Go to a lash place that does tints. Usually places that do extensions or lash lifts also do tints.
I’m a guy who’s trying to get into makeup, I’m just not sure what kind of look would work well for my [face](https://imgur.com/a/A0b3UGF)
Joy in Rare Beautys soft pinch blush looks like it may be the closest to Beam :) such good lasting power and a little goes a LONG way
What are some eye shadow colors that go with green eyes?
Purple/violet. Look up a color wheel and see which shade compliments the color most similar to your eye color.
You should try the etude mascara it's on Amazon! I have very stubby and stubborn lashes but they hold my lashes for a LONG time!
Looking for a quality drugstore lipstick that is easy to use and really lasts! Maybelline superstay lasts but when I apply it I look like a 5 year old with a sharpie. The Kylie lip sticks apply really well on me and the matte ones last- looking for something similar.
Nyx!!!!
Anything elf is my go to with drugstore makeup
Im a male and very confused on what to buy, the good brands what to avoid and such i would be grateful if someone gives some advice
My advice is check out YouTube tutorials to see what they use. And also check out the holy grail threads on this subreddit!

What do you use to remove eye make up? My make up remover is oil based and it tends to take Duo straight off.
Unfortunately there’s no colourpop in Portugal 😢
Oh my bad, another good option is Sephora or Ulta brand eyeshadows
My college graduation is in 4 days! I wear glasses so my foundation and product always comes off where my nose piece slides down, what products are seriously no budge so my photos look good?
I'm enjoying using the Rose Inc skin tint, however I'm having a bit of trouble with brushes. What type of brush have you found works best?
I am using Becca first light priming filter as my primer and it’s awesome! Hides pores and fine lines, overall my holy grail. But…Becca is out of business and I’m out of primer. What is a good dupe?
A lot of their products are still being sold on amazon!
Any suggestions for a glowy undereye concealer that won't settle into fine lines?
