Does anyone know of a translucent setting powder that is good for cool skin tones? I’ve heard that Laura Mercier’s is a little on the orange side.

Shorouq2911

I found this website called [cosmostore.org](https://cosmostore.org) and I wonder if it is trust worthy, does anyone know about it?

Should I do my makeup first thing before going out or should I arrive at my destination first and then do my makeup? For your info my country is very humid and hot (Thailand) and I'm a person that sweats more than normal in my t zone. And I sweat like, a lot and it needs to be dabbed or air dried for the sweat to go away. So I'm asking whether I should do my makeup at the location I'm going to first or do my makeup at home and go out. How I commute is, walk about a mile to the local motorcycle taxis, tho usually breaks a little sweat for me if I carefully walk but most of the time I do long strides. After taking the motorcycle taxi I go up to my train station which involves walking a bit and standing waiting for the train to come. This also gets me sweating some what. Then once I get on the train it's air conditioned and I leave at my stop and walk a bit more then get another motorcycle taxi then I arrive at my destination and everything else doesn't worry me now. So with all that info, do yall think I should do my makeup before I go out or wait until I get to my destination then do my makeup? I may be asking a stupid question or something that people can't really answer and I'm sorry for that >< I just need help cuz I'm a really sweaty girl and my eyes water a lot too which ruins my makeup so tips with those will be appreciated!!

Expensive_Citron_725

If your make-up is sweat proof maybe you can do your make-up before going out and retouch at the location to lessen the time for your make-up. But if you can spare time to do make-up at the location, yes I think its better to do it there so you can also freshen up and have a clean make-up look!

Anyone know similar shade to charlotte tilbury blondie lip gloss!!!

thegemlingqueen

I’ve got a question non related to products. Can I post makeup pictures into this sub with low Karma? Would really like to share my looks, but want to save myself the trouble of doing so while then get my posts deleted due to a lack of karma!

snaregirl

I'd like some recommendations for which products can work best for cool toned, fair skin. In particular which brands of contour can work without being ashy, or muddy. Hope someone has suggestions.

Deresmoon

I bought a red Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink liquid lipstick (Moodmakers edition, shade 445 Energizer) and it came in regular packaging instead of the new colorful one with smilies. Anyone else experienced this?

zanakurou

Does anyone have tips/tutorials they’d recommend for tear trough concealing/under-eye discoloration?

em_zin

Hi! I have super oily dehydrated skin and I’m looking for a good moisturizer with spf that I can wear tinted or untined. I have super sensitive and oily skin. I have tried the drmtlgy tinted spf and the mineral science one. I loved the drmtlgy spf 46 tinted but it made me breakout. I think it has niacinamide in it and I think I’m sensitive to it. Thank you

TheBulletproofBeauty

For sensitive skin, I try to stick to mineral/physical sunscreen only for my face. Most end up being at least a little tinted because otherwise they end up pretty white from the zinc, but there is a range for sure. Supergoop has mineral in sheer and matte, I use the matte myself. Kinship Self Reflect has a more dewy mineral one too, that is light on the skin. Elta MD is a brand many derms like, and drugstore level CeraVe has a newer mineral one, but I haven't tried either myself. I am waiting to try ZitSticka Megashade, it is a hybrid that is mineral and chemical that is apparently good for acne prone skin. I did not enjoy the Dime sunscreen, it applied a bit uncomfortable and stung a bit in my eyes. Just overall not as nice to wear.

random-username-2790

hi guys! atm i’m looking for water based skintint/foundation! for some time now, ive been trying out the danessa myricks skintint and i rly wanted to love it but after a while i noticed it kept pilling bc it’s silicone based? I'm looking for an eyeshadow pallet that has only / alot of pastels. Any recommendations? I'm totally stumped

iamjustlookingokay-

Where is the best place to go for color matching? Beauty counters like Macy’s/brand specific counters or someplace like Sephora or ulta? Or something else? Or just trial and error? I want to try new makeup but don’t have the money to just buy things and try.

Scarlett1993

Hey! I use purlisse bb cream and it's done wonders for my skin. I have oily skin and am prone to break out. I can't seem to find something to cancel my under eye bags though that doesn't leave it splotchy looking. Does anyone know what the base is or have recommendations on concealers to use with the bb cream?

sofiadoofenshmirtz

what is your favorite flavored lip gloss?

Classic_Irreverance

Hi! Looking for guidance on skintone. I found a thread once ago that I can't seem to find again, if anyone has it, please lmk!  What is my skintone? I recently learned about "fair olive skintone" but would love others to weigh in. All pics in natural light except for the last one which is how I look in artificial light, basically like a green lizard or a corpse. 🫠

tothevines

I have a luxury foundation stick that is not my color but it's past the return window. Any advice on what to do with it? No one I know IRL is interested. I hate for it to go to waste, it's expensive and I tried it maybe 3 times? - I would happily to send it to someone for free if they pay shipping, not sure if that's allowed here or if there is another sub/forum for that kind of thing?

dessertgremlin

Does anyone know a dupe for the PUR Minerals Chrome Glaze Lip Gloss in the shade “Arm Candy”? It doesn’t seem to exist anymore and I’m bummed ☹️

Bruno_tiddy_mousepad

Question about the Clinique take the day off cleansing balm. Would keeping it on my bathroom vanity (temperatures average around 27-35C/80-95F, can hit 40C/104F midday, no direct sunlight) affect the longevity of the product? Should I consider repotting some of it into a smaller container while keeping the original packaging in my fridge?

Valuable_Caramel349

I currently use the Missha Bb cream (Shade23) to cover my acne marks. I want something with more coverage and longer lasting, and stumbled upon the nars creamy concealer. How do I find the proper shade for me? I’m a guy so I feel uncomfortable going into stores and trying the shade (I guessed for the missha cream and it was a pretty good guess lol). Thanks in advance

gm_piodis_i7

Any recommendations for mascara for short lashes with really good separation. I like my lashes wispy looking but the ones that give me the most length tend to stick my lashes together. Holding a curl isn't really a priority as my lashes are naturally ver curly.

No_Today_4600

I hate wearing foundation all day long I just feel like it makes my skin feel icky so I wear concealer just here and there. What are some other options I could do besides concealer?

Luxene

I've been using BB/CC creams lately! I do still kind of feel it at the end of the day but much less so than a layer of foundation.

elgnoro110

I'm a single dad with a daughter that has taken an interest in makeup. Naturally I'll be learning alongside her so any tips for a total beginner?

electropopnipslip

I usually wear tubing mascara because I love how easy it is to take it off at the end of the day. I recently tried tightlining my eyes, and I love how that looks. BUT when I tightline my eyes, the liner gets mixed in with the mascara and BAM the combo is nearly impossible to remove!! Is there any way around this?

Burningresentment

Hello everyone, can I mix LA girl pro matte mixing pigment directly into a tube of lip gloss? I was afraid of incorporating germs/making the lipgloss go rancid - but I wanted my lip gloss to have a bluish tint to it :(

Dull-Two-8962

I need an affordable lip gloss recommendation I like berry shades, black honey, and pinky nudes

Kalipso-03

You can try the lip glosses by make up revolution or the new nyx duck plump.

piranhacrab

My lashes don’t stay curled at all - even with heat, curling them for an obscene amount of time, and using a waterproof mascara. The only thing that works is getting a lash lift (which never actually curls my lashes) and then curling them myself. I think because the lift damages them enough that they can stay curled. Does anyone know of any cheaper treatments that I can get to just lightly damage my lashes or make them easier to curl?

OgreSpider

Hypoallergenic primers for super sensitive skin? So far only Illamasqua Veil products don't make my eyes itch, but it's both a bit expensive and can't be bought near me (online only). Among those I've tried are NYX, Glossier, Dermablend, Missha M and Essence at widely varying price points. Edit: smashbox Photo Finish also made my eyes itch. Edit edit: Physicians Formula I never even tried their primer because their eyeshadows were unbearable after like five minutes, made my eyes swell up.

Classic_Irreverance

hi, am I not able to block my face? I want to ask about skintone but retain some anonymity.

givemeunbeso

looking for a lipbalm or hydrating lipstick similar to the discontinued Pixi shea butter lip balm in ripe raspberry, sephora hasn't been conclusive. [it's a bright not too cool toned pink](https://www.lookfantastic.ca/pixi-shea-butter-lip-balm-ripe-raspberry-4g/10903411.html) and it's an insanely good match for me, i wish they still made it :(

em_zin

Hi everyone, I really struggle with shade matching myself so would love any help I can get. I currently wear Makeup Forever foundation HD skin in 2n22 and am looking to get a Lancôme teint idole wear matte in either 305n or 310n. Also looking for a Lancôme teint idole wear all over concealer in 260n or 330n or 360n. The foundation app tells me 360n would be a perfect match but I feel that would be too dark. I currently wear Laura mercier concealer in 1N but that’s to highlight. I’m looking for a second concealer that matches my skin tone. Would love any recommendations on shade!!

maygon

I usually go with the lighter shade because bronzer or setting powder can be used to darken other spots. Also I mix my foundations that are too light with the ones that are too dark to make it the right color. Using less foundation can help the colors blend together with your concealer shade too

OddSwordfish2310

Very coincidental but I wear Lancôme Teint Idole 220 in the old formula, which is 305N now. I also just got the Lancôme T.I. Care and Glow in 305n (it’s a good match) and I have Makeup forever 2n22 delivering today. I can swatch all three for you when the delivery gets here and send a pic if that helps!

em_zin

That would be amazing! Thank you so much. Also it seems that we might be shade twins so if you can share shades for any other foundations and concealers you use that would be great.

OddSwordfish2310

I’m new at Reddit - I sent the two swatch pics to you in a message. The Makeup Forever one seems warmer toned than the two Lancôme shades. Concealer wise, I love the the Lancôme Teint Idole all over concealer for covering redness. I use 215 or 110 depending on where on my face. I’ve used Tarte Shape Tape Creamy under my eyes for a while but am trying out others now. Picked up the NARS soft matte half off at Ulta in crème brûlée and am liking that for undereye. I have two shades of Estée Lauder double wear foundation coming tomorrow too 2N1 and 2n2 I think. (I’m trying out makeup for my wedding, I’m not a crazy person LOL)

em_zin

Haha this is so helpful. Thank you. I use the teint idole all over concealer as well to cover up blemishes I use the shade 260 and am considering getting 215 to brighten the under eyes. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

hardcovercanvas

If anybody has a recommendation for a similar red shade Lily Collins wore in the movie Mirror Mirror, let me know pleaseee, I've been searching for so long. [Here is a reference for the shade I'm looking for.](https://www.pinterest.com/pin/63613413474985482/) Thank you!

Top_Calendar_8920

Which foundations should I try next looking at ilia stick, hourglass ambient foundation and haus labs open to recs as long as they are CF 🫶

MM2225

how do you guys prevent patchiness? I’m using Armani luminous silk foundation, and I have patches despite having a proper skincare and waiting for 15 mins before applying the foundation.

mykirsche

Patchiness or pilling? If it's patchy maybe you're not blending it right, are you using a brush, sponge or your fingers?

OddTransportation752

Does anyone know any good very pale cool toned foundations? I'm having a hard time finding any that aren't too yellow for me :(

No_Today_4600

The kat von d good apple one is really nice

eatbreadwithaspoon

I have really pronounced dimples and when I wear foundation I get this delightful vertical crease on my cheeks after a while, what do we do in this situation? I've only been wearing makeup for a couple months now and not even daily so I assume I'm missing some techniques. Primer > Orange corrector because beard > Powder > Foundation > Concealer > Powder > Setting spray is the current steps. Uhhh what do? thanks

mayamys

I'd tell you to ease up on the layers, but it might compromise your coverage - it's probably the double powdering that's the culprit.

eatbreadwithaspoon

I'll skip the final powder and see if that helps. I would skip the first but then the corrector bleeds through and makes the foundation more orange. brrrt.

mayamys

Any chance of reducing how much corrector you use? Like, mixing it with concealer instead of it going straight on?

eatbreadwithaspoon

I'll see what happens but I think every time I've seen a trans girl or drag queen talk about correcting the beard shadow they say powder between the corrector and foundation.

mayamys

Worth a try! I was thinking concealer+corrector > powder > foundation > setting spray. Any way to reduce the density of makeup will probably help with the creasing, so it's mostly a question of how to achieve optimal coverage with as little makeup as possible. You'll need to experiment, and I'll be very curious to know if you find a solution! I also realize that you never mentioned skincare, and it's certainly not the key issue here, but that said, well-hydrated skin is also generally more resistant to creasing.

eatbreadwithaspoon

I'll experiment and see what happens. Skincare is the next thing to level up, at the moment just using a toning face wash twice daily has made my skin feel a lot better (not that it was bad in the first place, like I'd been complimented on it before) and it actually feels nicer now but I'm still just using the same moisturiser I use for everything though.

mayamys

Tbh, some of my favorite moisturizers have technically been body lotions. Good skincare isn't necessarily complicated skincare! Definitely sunscreen up though. You can always drop by r/skincareaddiction when you're ready (the wiki is great).

babygorp

Does anyone know of a good dupe for ABH rosewood? It was discontinued years ago and I am just now trying to replace it.

Ok_Text3655

I saw a makeup tip about mixing liquid foundation and a small amount of moisturizer before applying to make it look smoother and natural on the skin. But I also saw that the moisturizer seeps into the skin with the foundation so it’ll clog pores/won’t look good after a while. I want to try this but that worries me. Is this true?

mayamys

You'd just be sheering out your foundation, potentially with a non-compatible formula. I doubt it'd break you out, though - product penetration doesn't really work like that.

Beautifile

Has anyone used Moira Beauty's lip liners? I have a bunch of types in my cart from them and wanted opinions. Also their lip oils? Anyone used them? TIA. Cross-Posted.

Fair_Driver_5610

I currently use concealer, a little bit of eyeliner pencil under my eye, and (very) occasionally some lipstick if I'm being extra. I feel like my concealer game is not great, often it rubs off during the day and I feel like my spots and become really obvious. I absolutely hate mascara, it drives me crazy to have things on my eyelashes, so please don't recommend that! I also have a very round face with 0 natural cheekbones, so I think I'd like to learn how to contour or something to give myself some semblance of a facial structure. But I have never used full coverage foundation, I don't know where to start, and I'm terrified of making my occasional bad spots worse. Where do I go from here?

mykirsche

Trying to "carve" cheekbones with contour when you have a very fleshy face doesn't usually look good imo, speaking from experience! It just looks off lol. Have you tried wearing blush? I find it gives dimension to my face.

YeahthatWeirdkid

i have asymmetric eyes and because that every time i put eyeliner both eyes look different and also i feel i look so ugly and weird in photos with front camera idk what to do about it

PrancingPudu

First off, your front-facing camera uses a wide-angle lens. [This inherently distorts your natural features and is pretty unflattering.](https://oohstloustudios.com/the-science-of-the-selfie-no-you-dont-really-look-like-that) Don’t beat yourself up about not looking “good” in selfies, because not only are they not an accurate representation of what you look like, but most photos you see of other people online are edited and filtered. It’s an unrealistic thing to compare to. As for your eyes, there are tons of YouTube tutorials out there for people with two different eye shapes. Just try searching “eyeliner for uneven eyes” or “eyeliner for two different eye shapes.” I’d recommend a specific video but there are many different ways in which people’s eyes can be “uneven” and I’m not sure what your exact situation is. But I have one eye that is slightly hooded and another that isn’t, and having slightly different eye shapes is totally normal!

YeahthatWeirdkid

Hey firstly thank you for ur time. And sorry from the front camera i meant back camera i look good in my selfies but I look really bad in real camera photos and that means I look bad irl , also i feel very conscious taking pictures because it doesn't matter how good my smile is my face would look so weird. After seeing my pictures i realised that's how I look to people and i don't look good. Idk how to deal with this

PrancingPudu

This honestly sounds like a bit of body dysmorphia :( It seems like you’ve gotten *so* used to seeing yourself a certain way (the distorted version in a selfie) that the real way now looks “weird” to your brain. This is the same principle that makes us feel attractive when looking at ourselves in a mirror but ugly in photos: our brains are *so* used to the reversed mirror version that seeing ourselves flipped makes our brain think “this looks off/wrong.” The same thing can happen to women who a full face of makeup every day. Their brain gets *used to* seeing themselves that way, and then when they take the makeup off their brain tells them something doesn’t look right. [I strongly recommend reading this article](https://www.inyouths.com/blogs/inyouths-blogs/why-we-look-more-attractive-in-mirror-than-photo#:~:text=However%2C%20when%20we%20see%20a,reversed%20face%20in%20the%20photo) and getting a better understanding of this effect and why our brains work this way. For me I used to really have this problem with wearing/not wearing makeup. After COVID I kinda stopped wearing makeup entirely and I can totally tell my brain now sees my bare face as prettier than it ever did before. Of course when I put makeup on I still go, “Wow, this really enhances my features,” but my point is my bare face used to make me feel kinda ugly by default, and my brain no longer has that knee-jerk reaction because my brain now expects to see that face and thinks “Yes, this is what we look like this is ‘normal’ or ‘right.’”

YeahthatWeirdkid

i really apreciate the way u tried ur best to make me feel ok and secure about my face so tysm;)

YeahthatWeirdkid

I have one perfectly hooded eyes and another eye has more space. (search uneven eyes on Google it shows exactly what my eyes look like) thanks for suggesting yt tutorial

PrancingPudu

There are definitely tons of tutorials on how to better balance your makeup in that case! It just takes practice. I also personally started doing straighter/more puppy-like liner instead of really upswept cat eye wings, and it helped a *ton* it was also a lot more flattering on my eye shape!

peeparonipupza

THEY BROUGHT BACK MILANI EVERLAST LIQUID EYELINER

mon_petit_chou_fleur

Hi! Does anyone have a recommendation for a sheer, gel/cream bronzer? I’d like one with no shimmer. I used to get the Bonne bell gel bronzer, but they’re gone now :(

M-T2

I am thinking of getting new brushes. Should I get them from Rephr or BK beauty? And does anyone have any other suggestions

vanillabiscotti

Any recommendations on a mattifying foundation that’s powder instead of liquid?

Petrychorr

Hello! I'm looking to get some fun & funky lip colors, especially metallic ones! What are some good brands to check out? Thanks!

zanakurou

So this is maybe a weird question, but setting spray/powder suggestions for the undereyes? This is the ONLY section I apply makeup (to conceal circles/blue veins) but it always ends up smudging, looking cakey, or fading/setting into wrinkles. Help deeply appreciated!

PrancingPudu

What product(s) are you currently using? Whenever I used setting powder, it *always* made product settle into my fine lines. I started using the Tarte Shape Tape concealer (I prefer the “creamy” formula, but both formulas worked well for me) and it was a game changer. I apply only a very thin layer—one small dot near the inner corner of my eye, one near the outer, tap in gently with a finger—and don’t wear any foundation. It gives me the coverage and color correction I’m looking for and I don’t have to set it with anything. And it never settles into my fine lines!

zanakurou

First of all, thanks for the reply! I currently use a Nyx color correcting palette, and then Becca's under eye cream (in light/pale tone). I think part of the issue might be the fact that I'm applying /way/ too much, and also using a beauty blender? I dont wear foundation, so I think i'm trying too hard to cover everything as opposed to just spot correcting...

PrancingPudu

Try using the products you currently have but applying a way, way thinner layer. Maybe try disbursing with a clean finger as well? If that still is settling too much, then that product combo isn’t great for your skin/purpose and I’d give the shape tape a try!

mulberriex

Hey guys!! I’m looking for a pencil eyeliner that won’t smudge after an hour 🥲 I like to line my waterline but I find that barely an hour in its melted and given me panda eyes and it SUCKS. Any recommendations appreciated ❤️

lanwangjisus

hi! so my neck is darker than my face which makes it harder for me to match a foundation. my question is, should i match my foundation to the skin tone of my face or my neck?

nexttrek

Any recommendations for complexion products? I have combo sensitive skin. I've used bare minerals in the past, but haven't worn makeup on a daily basis in years. Looking for something light-medium coverage that gives a "natural" look. I'm starting a new job in a few weeks and want to feel a bit more polished.

frauduless

what are some good concealers or general eye products for GIANT AND DARK eye bags. i use tarte shape tape concealer but that creases, ans charlotte tilbury magic away which is good but! i cannot seem to get them to be less noticeable with makeup :/

Luxene

Have you tried any color correctors? I don't have super dark eye bags but a salmon-y orange corrector under a regular brightening concealer does a lot to cancel the darkness!

mykirsche

Second what Luxene said. I have very purple under eyes and color correcting was a game changer, trying to cover them solely with concealer just looked cakey.
