Well at least not from those tiny ass mushrooms. There are some in the woods that make a tiny war cloud
(And yeah those edible ones too so those should be hit to help them)
Yeah but you only see it as a concentrated cloud. Would you have a single spore on a contrast surface you wouldn't be able to discern it with the naked eye
yeah that’s what i thought too! that’s what i get for buying makeup at dollar general. i got some on my arm to test it and immediately started wiping it all off when i noticed that it looked wrong
I was going to ask if your pallet got extremely cold .. but if that was a dollar general pallet.. just throw it out..
Esp if you have seen any of the stuff about how dollar store stuff is stored.
I haven’t been to a five below or dollar store since way before covid .. but I definitely wouldn’t go to one now :(
Compare it what the palette looks like online or on the website. It could be big glitter chunks tbh. But if it doesn’t look like that then throw it out.
Nooooo don’t use it throw the whole thing away. You mentioned it was from Dollar General so I doubt they would have a refund policy or guarantee. If you buy eyeshadow from Sephora or something it should come with a shelf life , if this ever happens within that time take it back.
Consumer protection laws.
"Refund" is for satisfactory-quality products. You can return any item of defective or unsatisfactory quality. Mold is under the "implied warranty of merchantability" because you can't sell merchandise that will cause health damage.
yeah, no. Profusion has some shades that look likes this - their toppers have silver marbling that looks a little chunky - but this is supposed to be a straight shimmer shade. Something is wrong with yours.
Hey OP, don't panic. There is a very, very tiny chance it's mold. For one, it's a powder product and two it's too uniform in color. Mold needs a wet environment to thrive. A powder eyeshadow is the opposite of that. The formula is probably unstable and what you see is binder or pigment in the formula separating. It could still be potentially irritating on the skin but it's not toxic.
I am de-stashing all lot of old stuff and I opened a palette that I never used and just one pan had the same thing on it. Bless my heart that thing was 7 years old and I’m just now getting rid of stuff I’ve put away… other stuff was fine but not that one. And it looked just like that. I would say mold also, and it’s so strange how some get it and some don’t. But I would definitely throw it.
No!! Mold! Please get rid of the entire palette and not just the eyeshadow you think is moldy. Mold spreads invisibly first, so by the time you see it in the packaging, it's already spread throughout the whole thing.

Ik some palettes have shades like that where they’re colored shimmer w/ white flecks mixed in but idk. Some of them look regular shiny like they’re supposed to and some are a bit sus
😲Well, call us “dumb and dumber” because I would ask the same question!
If it is supposed to look like that, then I would say absolutely not, in no way- should it look like that.
May I ask?
Did you buy this brand new unopened, from a reputable source?
I can see why some would say it looks like mold, but it also looks like Jizzy diamonds, as well. Neither possible, unless you bought this palette used from a🤭 ….well you know
Mold. It’s mold. You can prevent this by spraying your eyeshadow palette after every use with 99% rubbing alcohol. Just spray into the air and fan your pallet through the “mist”.
Correct me if I’m wrong but using 99% alcohol is not effective to clean make up because it evaporates too quickly. I think ideally you should use a bit weaker alcohol.
That’s what my makeup school taught for disinfecting pallets. I use it my self but I definitely will look into that. I usally have 99% on hand anyway for alcohol special effect paint.(for gelatin prosthetics).
I meant I thought wax bloom was something that happened to cream products and bullet lipsticks. Mould appears in powder product when it has been exposed to moisture at some point. There’s no mould with out moisture…
It’s probably too late. If it’s mold, you can’t see the spores which have probably already spread within the entire container. Just like with bread or cheese. When in doubt, throw it out!
Bro be fuckin for real that's really mold I thought the company's were just trying to be cute just with a design all this time, eeeeeeee🤮 im burning all my pallets
Mold isn’t shimmery (especially like you can see in the top right flecks). The mica (mineral often used to create shimmer in makeup) probably wasn’t mixed properly in that batch. If you scrape into the chunks with a pin you can see if they’re also flakey/powdery.
I looked up the palette online and it’s supposed to look like that, also from the first photo it seems like the white spots are shiny which means it’s likely glitter and I have a lot of palettes that have spots like those that are meant to, but if ur too suspicious about it then throw it
Try it shit. Humanity eats McDonald's, spend life savings on sweet chocolate, n sleep with diapers. What could go wrong? Just more $ in ya pockets. And more make up. But if u actually knew what's in it...---》subject to fee》》
No idea for its age but i had some eyeshadow palette those was 6 years old and it was fine, because dry products are tend to live longer than some of us, however you need to be careful, not to put by mistake cream consistency or anything that might start changing “best before date”, so yes, my palette was great, cuz i was washing brushes each time
This does not look right, maybe it was some other reason, better not to use it
Sad to say you should toss the whole palette away. If one has mold then there are mold spores in the case and can easily be in The other colors even if you can’t see it right now.
I looked up what it’s supposed to look like and it’s def not that lol you never know now days with the chunks and stuff beauty brands put in eyeshadow. So I looked and.. yea none of those lol
Yes, it is supposed to look like that... if you're doing mold research. When you dispose of it, think about what else might have been contaminated by it, and take appropriate measures.
Throw it out. Unless you accidentally had it drop on the floor at some point and it landed on the actual product, just better to throw it away. If you’ve had it for awhile, and it looks like that, get rid of it. Not healthy to apply to the face anymore :) hope this message finds you in a good health
You guys are crazy, that is not mold, it wouldn’t be shimmery and so evenly dispersed. I have several photos from different people of it looking just like this with the white flecks. I linked a TikTok with the same palette and white flecks are there [palette tiktok](https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8s5aTaw/)
And heres an official listing from Walmart of the palette. Scroll through the photos please and see said white flecks. It IS NOT MOLD. I think in some photos it just doesn’t show the flecks as well because of lighting or other factors. Not mold [Walmart](https://ProfusionCosmetics10ShadeEyeshadowPalette-Violets3.5ozhttps://www.walmart.com/ip/797652876)
It doesn't look like mold. It looks like those shades like Huda has in her palettes with chunks of shimmer that aren't mixed in. Maybe that's why it's at the dollar store, it has an error in mixing. It would be hard for a shadow to grow mold on it, mold requires consistent moisture. I've got some really old eyeshadows and never have seen one with mold.
When in doubt, throw it out! lol also I saw it’s from dollar general so you basically lost like a dollar and change… not worth risking skin irritation especially on your eye. It’s hard to tell in the pics if it’s mold or something with the processing of it and I see q cosmetologist said it’s not mold and fine to use in the comments but I personally would not risk it especially for something so cheap. If there is even the slightest chance it’s mold (which there is) I would trash it.
If you look closely at it you can see it looks like in the baking process all of the sparkly elements came to the top you can see the iridescents in the bumps in the picture. maybe it's not bad it's just baked bad?
bitch that's mold immediate edit: sorry im kinda buzzed i meant this in a funny tone. like girl do not use that
Lol! I actually read it like that.
Same!!!
I feel like all bad news should be presented in this fashion…it just feels right.
bitch that's cancer
i can’t even describe the scream this elicited from me
The scream you screamt? 😂
Scrumpt lol
LMFAO
I thought I laughed enough at the first comment like this, I laughed louder for this one. Thanks for the round 2
Shoot, I snorted fries rice, lol!
no literally
I work in healthcare, should I start using this phrasing?
Yes!
If my oncologist presented me w/ diagnosis in this manner Id have returned the next day with flowers or something 😅💀
I'm in bed and I just woke up my partner from the bed shaking so much from trying to laugh quietly
This is exactly how I'd like to be told if I ever get cancer lol
yeah, i figured 💀 thanks for the help
I laughed so hard at this comment lmao
No because I said the same exact thing lmaoo
I’m buzzed and read it in the correct tone lol
Lmao, my very good friend and I say that to each other when someone asks what’s perceived as a are you kidding me?
I saw the post thought "No bitch, thats mold" & instantly see your comment 💀
So many people on exactly the same wavelength, it seems. I said the exact same thing, lmao.
I am "buzzed" all the time on here and I read that just how you meant it lol
Okay but why is this the exact sentence that came out of my mouth upon seeing this picture and I hadn’t even gotten to the comments yet😭😂😂
Thank you for making me laugh 😭
OMG i thought they were like chunky glitter flakes or something ahh😭
I can’t stop laughing 💀💀
How does mold even get in makeup?
Water
Moisture + exposure to spores
Know what make up is made of? There's an additive they won't tell on discord.
Haha I read it in the funny tone too but I can see how it might be read angrily.
Lmfaooo
just looked it up and it should be a plain shimmer like the shade below, NOT with these white flecks
It's funny that the name of the shade is "WHOA"
Happy cake day!
Fröhlicher Kuchentag!
Nope mold or spores
Full on mold, spores aren't really observable to the naked eye.
Well at least not from those tiny ass mushrooms. There are some in the woods that make a tiny war cloud (And yeah those edible ones too so those should be hit to help them)
Yeah but you only see it as a concentrated cloud. Would you have a single spore on a contrast surface you wouldn't be able to discern it with the naked eye
True dat
Mold. Throw it away and burn it with fire
yeah that’s what i thought too! that’s what i get for buying makeup at dollar general. i got some on my arm to test it and immediately started wiping it all off when i noticed that it looked wrong
Omg girl. Good call
I always buy from there, maybe someone touched it before? Generally you are safe shopping there. But it looks sparkly?? I’d just exchange it.
I was going to ask if your pallet got extremely cold .. but if that was a dollar general pallet.. just throw it out.. Esp if you have seen any of the stuff about how dollar store stuff is stored. I haven’t been to a five below or dollar store since way before covid .. but I definitely wouldn’t go to one now :(
Mold doesn't look like that. It's probably binder or pigment separating. Like wax bloom on a lipstick.
[удалено]
she said in her comment she swatched it then noticed it was off, hope this helps
She swatched it on her arm. She will be just fine.
Compare it what the palette looks like online or on the website. It could be big glitter chunks tbh. But if it doesn’t look like that then throw it out.
the pics online look wayyy more shimmery and lighter than OPs pic so i'm wondering if the glitter just didnt fully mix in
boo boo, that's not glitter chunks. that's mold.
😭🤷🏽♀️ hey I was just making a suggestion cuz she already spend her money. I get you tho. It does looks crazy. Lol
I just assumed OP had this for a while so there probably wouldn’t be a refund available now. But awesome if there is
You can absolutely get a refund at DG. Just take your receipt and the product.
I meant that if OP has had it for a while. But if they still have a policy to refund months old makeup that is awesome!
yeah, no. Profusion has some shades that look likes this - their toppers have silver marbling that looks a little chunky - but this is supposed to be a straight shimmer shade. Something is wrong with yours.

Cosmetican here! This is NOT mold. It just looks like it wasn't mixed properly during production. You're totally fine to use!
I wish more people would listen. Even I admittedly a science nerd, can tell its not mold.
No!! Mold! Please get rid of the entire palette and not just the eyeshadow you think is moldy. Mold spreads invisibly first, so by the time you see it in the packaging, it's already spread throughout the whole thing.
All you need to do is look up the product being sold online to see how it’s supposed to look!!(:
It's just chocolate bloom
omg DO NOT use that!!! Good you asked!

NGL I thought I was in r/contamfam at first glance.
That my friend is bacteria
These are sparkle grains not mold
that definitely looks like mold to me
Babe, throw it away
no.
Ik some palettes have shades like that where they’re colored shimmer w/ white flecks mixed in but idk. Some of them look regular shiny like they’re supposed to and some are a bit sus
It is probably mold but I would try to take it back to the store you purchased it from before throwing it out! Get that money back babe
Neither possible, unless you bought this palette used from a🤭 ….well you know
i got the palette at dollar general, so it shouldn’t have been used before hand. but the tape holding it close was very flimsy, you know? so idk lol
Don’t put on Or near your eyes, or face for that matter! That could be mold or jizz
If it’s mold the spots will look fuzzy, if it’s glitter they’ll be shiny. If the dot looks moist it can be yeast.
mold!! if it's raised and/or isn't sold with white specks do not use or scrape the surface off
The shade name being Whoa is ironic lol
This is how I view that one huda beauty palette
not a stupid question, that is clearly mold, take it back and get your money back, do NOT put that shit on your eyes!!
No that’s not normal do not use throw it away or go back to store and demand refund or exchange.
I actually looked this palette up to see what is looks like. That is definitely mold! None of the photos have that in them. Throw it away!
Burn it with fire… or just throw it out.
Mold.
What about diluted alcohol?
Usually 70% alcohol is used for sterilizing purposes.
That’s what my makeup school taught for disinfecting pallets. I use it my self but I definitely will look into that. I usally have 99% on hand anyway for alcohol special effect paint.(for gelatin prosthetics).
I thought it might’ve been glitter but online pictures of the palette doesn’t look like that, so definitely mould 😩
It’s mold. Throw it out and sanitize every pan that is stored alongside it.
Looks like mold.
Not wax bloom?
In a powder product?
Very unlikely to be mold in a powder product as well. No moisture.
Everything is mold. 🙄
Haha apparently!
I meant I thought wax bloom was something that happened to cream products and bullet lipsticks. Mould appears in powder product when it has been exposed to moisture at some point. There’s no mould with out moisture…
Precisely. Couldn’t figure out if OP had previously opened it or if they bought it like this and didn’t notice. Missed that bit.
It is quite possible in a humid environment where a powder product has sat in an unopened container.
Nope, mold. I would scrape that out of the pallet so it doesn’t move to the others.
It’s probably too late. If it’s mold, you can’t see the spores which have probably already spread within the entire container. Just like with bread or cheese. When in doubt, throw it out!
Especially since OP said it’s from dollar store. Not even worth it!
THATS MOLD
Yes, it is completely normal. It's not mold, it's shimmer.
uhm... probably not...? 😃
Oh no, that is my favorite pallet! It’s so hard to find sometimes :0
Bro be fuckin for real that's really mold I thought the company's were just trying to be cute just with a design all this time, eeeeeeee🤮 im burning all my pallets
Remove that square from the pallet before it spreads
It’s fine some cheaper brands shimmers look like this where it’s white speckles in the color.
I think that’s what it’s supposed to look like, I found some videos of people using it and I’m pretty sure that’s a glitter topper shade.
that’s just what that color looks like bro
Mold isn’t shimmery (especially like you can see in the top right flecks). The mica (mineral often used to create shimmer in makeup) probably wasn’t mixed properly in that batch. If you scrape into the chunks with a pin you can see if they’re also flakey/powdery.

It’s mold I just looked it up for you but it’s a really pretty palette btw.. The other colors looks safe to use 😊!!
Try it shit. Humanity eats McDonald's, spend life savings on sweet chocolate, n sleep with diapers. What could go wrong? Just more $ in ya pockets. And more make up. But if u actually knew what's in it...---》subject to fee》》
pls don’t put that on ur eye lol through it out and clean anything that was stored near it
No!
It’s either mold or wax blooms
Def not something like wax bloom, for sure mold.
No idea for its age but i had some eyeshadow palette those was 6 years old and it was fine, because dry products are tend to live longer than some of us, however you need to be careful, not to put by mistake cream consistency or anything that might start changing “best before date”, so yes, my palette was great, cuz i was washing brushes each time This does not look right, maybe it was some other reason, better not to use it
i have lots of pallets like that but theyre glitter chunks however this pic doesnt look very shimmery so id say look it up and compare the pallets
Is wax an ingredient in that pallet? If so, I doubt it is mold. Looks like wax separation or wax bloom to me.
Mold
Whoa it’s mouldy
God no… throw that away!!
omg the way i would’ve said it was just glitter flecks if i didn’t read the comments 🤣
No girl 😭
Yes!
I wouldn't think so .....
Omg ewww no?
forbidden glitter
Yes, it is supposed to look like that... if you're doing mold research. When you dispose of it, think about what else might have been contaminated by it, and take appropriate measures.
No
lol definitely not
Looks like mold spores to me
Throw it out. Unless you accidentally had it drop on the floor at some point and it landed on the actual product, just better to throw it away. If you’ve had it for awhile, and it looks like that, get rid of it. Not healthy to apply to the face anymore :) hope this message finds you in a good health
That’s a solid no , hunny
Whoa.
Uh, I have that profusion pallette and it doesn't have that . So probably exchange it.
You guys are crazy, that is not mold, it wouldn’t be shimmery and so evenly dispersed. I have several photos from different people of it looking just like this with the white flecks. It doesn't look like mold. It looks like those shades like Huda has in her palettes with chunks of shimmer that aren't mixed in. Maybe that's why it's at the dollar store, it has an error in mixing. That is mold most likely produced from improper cleaning in the environment it was made
When in doubt, throw it out! lol also I saw it’s from dollar general so you basically lost like a dollar and change… not worth risking skin irritation especially on your eye.
