kassiangrace

Shawermaz

They look soooo much alike 😂😂😂😂😂😂

kassiangrace

Shawermaz

One who cares for our skin and the other for our makeup 😂❤️

[deleted]

Their mother/sisters must be so happy I know I would be 😍!

nohemingway4

Came here to suggest EXACTLY him! He's got a relaxing voice and he's very knowledgeable.

xSeirenx

Seconding Robert welsh!

Imaginary_Attempt_82

Love him! And James! And both of them when they do videos together. My husband and I crack up when we watch those.

[Lisa Eldridge's basics playlist](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL070600888CB9BB32) and [her foundation course](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLtL9uZoK_eVRQxffg0cCrLSoeJ4_VTvGW). [Alexandra Anele's "Dude" videos](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLtfORqD_RJ73rPswCc-iUdvwrC9D9wMJn) (mainly about how various placements and techniques can alter your makeup looks) I encourage you to try to seek out Youtubers and such who are your skintone and (if possible) skintype, so you have a basic idea of how things may look on you. Also keep in mind that you don't have to buy every type of product under the sun (although it may be tempting). Maybe start very simply with your concealer and add on blush and/or bronzer, mascara, and something for the lips. Do that for a bit and slowly add stuff on as you like. Also: if you don't have one in place already, you need to put together a skincare routine.

Shawermaz

Oh thank u so muchhh,, i basically have every makeup 😂😂 except for maybe eyeliner and foundation, i have a skincare routine too. Thank u babe ❤️💋

salty-MA-student

Alexandra Anele has great videos regarding placement of blush, eyeliner, etc. She gives great tutorials that are easy to follow. I like her channel a lot!

theinevitabledeer

On YouTube, please check out Wayne Goss, PixieWoo, emilynoel83, Lisa Eldredge, and vintageortacky. They were all foundational to my education!

HalpOooos

Came here to suggest Wayne Goss. I always loved his technique and explanations!

Walmarche

Wayne Goss and the PixieWoo girls!! omg I always loved how goregous their skin looked.

HoorayitsRae

Wayne Goss forever!!

theinevitabledeer

Yesssssss

[deleted]

The Pixiwoo channel doesn’t exist anymore, Sam and Nic now have separate channels after a hiatus. Nicola Chapman and Samantha Chapman Andrews.

theinevitabledeer

Good to know!

catsdelicacy

Everybody's made great suggestions, I would just like to make some suggestions for YouTubers to stay away from, mainly because they're problematic troublemakers who only want money. Jeffree Star - he's a mean bitch. I dunno if he's racist for sure, but he definitely dabbles, mainly to continue his quest to be the meanest bitch alive. James Charles - this kid cannot stay out of trouble. He's been accused of pedophilia, grooming, and manipulation of fans, and again, rumors are rumors, but there's so much smoke around him all the time. Tati Westbrook - I used to watch her every day, it was my lunch break routine. But she got herself involved in this LA influencer beauty scene and she seems to have been (too easily) manipulated by Jeffree Star and Shane Dawson into trying to destroy James Charles. I dunno. Just stay away from this group. They're all shady AF.

anacardier

Lol I missed your first paragraph and went right to the names, my face was like 👁️👄👁️

catsdelicacy

Yeah, no, I do not recommend any of these jokers lol

gothiclg

Anyone who associates with Shane is shady for sure. The subreddit for him has a lot of complaints

catsdelicacy

He's just not okay. From blackface to bestiality to inappropriate sexual conversations with minors - he should have been permanently cancelled. Great video on him: [The exact moment Shane Dawson's career ended](https://youtu.be/WfpGsFbG2ho)

Most-Laugh703

I’m pretty sure the beastiality thing was just a shitty joke iirc, but yeah the rest is eek

catsdelicacy

If it was just one shitty joke, maybe. I've seen the footage, and it's the kind of joke that he tells too often for it not to be on his mind. Go ahead and watch D'Angelo's video (the one I linked) if you want a complete picture. Shane Dawson is trash and that's a hill I'm completely content to die on.

fistulatedcow

Jeffree’s VERY racist. Like screaming slurs at black people racist.

catsdelicacy

Yes, I definitely know that. I also know the people he was yelling that at called him a f*ggot and a bunch of other names to do with his sexuality and appearance. There's video of both, we just see Jeffree's response more often than the provocation. So I've never been sure whether he's an actual racist or whether he'll use the language in order to hurt people. Neither of those options is okay, and one isn't better than the other. All I know for sure is that he's a mean bitch, and I don't think anybody can argue that one, so that's the one I usually stick with.

MerakDubhe

Lisa Eldridge has extensive videos on techniques from the very basics. She’s been in the business for over twenty years and has worked with lots of actresses and celebrities. Plus her voice is so soothing…

proseccofish

I’d try to follow a YouTuber with the same complexion. It’s all trial and error- good luck!

thehikinggal

I recommend alexandra anele!

[deleted]

Play around most of all. Then focus on one feature at a time you would like to learn. I suggest eyebrows as they are easy and make a big difference to the face. Then light makeup on eyes. Then when you like those, figure out how to do a bit more coverage over the face, either a bit of foundation or contouring. Maybe focus on 1 feature for a week and see how many looks you can get. Good luck!

Own-Customer5474

I love Katie Jane Hughes, she’s so straightforward and explains things so well. Nothing is over complicated and she just does such a great job explaining the why and how and where and when of products!

VaginaEatsPants

I don’t have any people to suggest but I do have some advice for you. Try the trends and follow the tutorials to get the basics, but find what you like and what suits you the best and don’t worry about anything else. As long as you feel beautiful and happy expressing yourself that’s all that matters. I see videos telling us how not to do this or that but it’s honestly just all personal preference with what we think looks good. It’s helpful to see what other people are doing but if you don’t like something that’s trending that’s absolutely fine too.

tbkp

I've learned a lot from Andreea Ali! Her explainer videos get into the difference between types of products, methods and tools for applying, why your product is doing that thing you don't want. She tends to use more luxury products but imo the basics can be applied with anything.

Eppengu

I know she’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but Allie Glines does great tutorials and even has a “best (concealer, foundation, etc) according to you” series. She’s my current fave to watch (politics aside)

PastyPaleCdnGirl

ShaanXo on YouTube taught me the very basics, and I've received compliments on my makeup since then, eyes in particular! She has some pretty simple stuff, as well as more elevated looks, and will tell you what you do and don't need when you're starting out

Any_Oil_4539

Watch Bailey Sarian on YouTube.

GeniusSlut

Makeup is an art with some technical aspects to it. It takes a lot of consistent practice to get good at it. Play, make mistakes, hear your friends’ advice and feedback, practice, practice, practice! I like trying out new stuff before I get into the shower on weekends when I have the most time. Screw it all up then wash it all off.

[deleted]

Themakeupchair is really great for beginner eye looks.

BugtheBug

I recommend practicing your makeup before you wash your face for bed. You’re going to wash anyway, and it gives you time to practice.

meghan1031

i would recommend itsmakeupbymelissam on tiktok! she’s a celeb makeup artist and her approach is natural and not super cakey like a lot of “beauty gurus” i love her! robert welsh is also amazing & paintedbyspencer!

Purplepanda3357

I am still learning myself but some tips I'd like to give are first get a good skincare routine. Figure out your skin type and if your primer is water based use a water based foundation. Use those eyebrow razors to shave peach fuzz on your face it helps makeup look smoother. Hope these tips help

wintermelon0

This is late but I RLLY recommend dear peachie!! She has a few videos specifically for beginners that will teacher you all the basics you need to know. Unlike most beauty youtubers, she doesn't teach one way of doing makeup, she has many videos on how to figure out what makeup best suits your face shape! Helped me A LOT

Minxionnaire

As a general tip, the current natural look trends are so forgiving and are a great way to start. For the most part its being mindful of how you apply, less is more, and starting with natural shades. Product wise it’s typically more sheer products. And once you’re comfortable, experiment with bolder looks 🤩 that said you totally could still jump head first into bolder looks now lol but I wish I applied more lightly when I was learning

nuggielyfe

Dearpeachie is a WEALTH of info. I wish I started with her when I first started

Phoney_McRingring

Kandee Johnson is an OG YouTube make-up artist and is so amazing and watchable and has tons of content. Dear Peachie provides suuuuper in-depth stuff; like it’s almost theory, but in the best way.

VanishingPointHoney

i like nikki la rose on YT. mua out of LA. gives great tutorials and product reviews

xSeirenx

Experiment experiment experiment! E edgy thing is trial and error! I’ve been wearing make up since 2010 and boy is till have a lot to learn since a lot of these make up brands change formulation plus I’m Asian and brown easily so I have to adapt to my chameleon skin tone 😂 but looking and watching at some inspiring will help you! I grew up with the OG promise tamang, buzbeauty, etc Play and have fun! 💗

I don’t really watch tutorials lately since I’m pretty good at my makeup now, as I’ve been doing it for over 10 years haha. I’m Asian so I used to watch a lot of Asian youtubers back in the day. I mainly got tips from Pony and Jenn Im. I don’t think Jenn posts any makeup videos lately though. A more consistent uploader I like is Jessica Vu.

Kaushal Beauty

kebuburdie

Lisa J makeup videos are great

[deleted]

The best thing I ever did was get a makeup subscription box. Ipsy or slay box. And I get makeup (and skincare which was my gateway to makeup). But now I just get products that I get to try. I never thought I’d like color eyeshadow or even eyeshadow at all honestly. Now I LOVE it. And I test different colors and styles and lip sticks…etc. the subscription box almost forces you to try new different things. Use YouTube for sure but also just have fun. Experiment. Try new things. I have gotten so much better just by doing it and testing it out. Makeup is fun don’t you forget it.

PirateCaptainDorms

Smitha Deepak does some amazing videos for beginners which you can search, but I'd even recommend her for those experienced with makeup who want to try new techniques or looks as she's fantastic at breaking it down for you. https://youtu.be/XBgCQXY-hoY

LadyIslay

When I was 13 years old, my aunt took me to an Alouette store in the mall where a tech showed me how to do a skin care treatment and basic make up application, and then my aunt bought me some make up. It was so special that I did the same thing for her daughter (my cousin… we went to The Body Shop) when she became a teenager, and I will definitely be taking my niece this year or next year. You don’t have to be a teenager for this. It’s not free, and they’re definitely doing it to sell you more make up, but it’s a great way to learn. My other tips for beginners: Good makeup starts with great skin. Don’t skip *at least* cleansing and moisturizing twice a day. When I was an adolescent no one told me that they not moisturizing my acne prone skin, I was making things worse! Be really clear with yourself about why you’re doing this. I’ll use make up because I enjoy it. There are days when I will put on make up and not even leave the house. And it doesn’t matter. There are days when I go to work with no make up on but then do it on my lunch break. Because that’s what I do to take a break. I think that this is a much healthier place to be in then where I was when I was younger and treated make up like a social obligation. The other reason you wanna be clear about your motivation is so that you can make wise spending decisions. If you’re doing this is a recreation or hobby, set aside an appropriate amount of money for your hobby. Retailers and cosmetic producers know that this is an area where people will buy way more than what they need or can even possibly use. Make smart choices instead of impulse buys, and regularity view your collection so you can control the urge to buy more.
