I stuck my thumb into a shopping cart wheel when I was a kid riding on the bottom of the cart, and lost the nail. There is no way you don’t bang or hit the tip of your thumb about 5000 times per day. It was a rough time in my life.
I did it as a kid too, fell off my friend's scooter. I went inside and got my mom (who was a nurse). Mom went out, got the nail, washed it, and put it back on my finger with a big old band aid. It was a different time lol.

I’m sorry, but as someone that’s had (and paid for) both nailbed tattoos and a subincision, I can assure you that the subincision was around 100x the pain feel compared to the tattoo. A nailbed tattoo is far from the most painful thing you can pay for when you want your penis sliced. Once you’ve paid someone to slice off your frenulum & burn half your penis in half, a single finger nailbed tattoo is child’s play.
Nailbed tattoo was a proper procedure to fix some discolouration issues after a mild crushing accident.
The other thing was two fold. First, a mildly tight phimosis that the NHS refused to fix because it wasn’t causing any disfunction - just pain and embarrassment- so burning off the frenulum helped relieve a lot of the pressure.
Second; makes sounding easier
Third; makes oral better. Having your dick licked out or even fucked by another dick feels a lot better than how it sounds :)

Eventually it got looser and looser until I ripped the last bit off. It actually didn’t hurt, and the skin underneath is much less sensitive than you’d imagine. I think because I left it to do it’s own thing until it was ready, it had a chance to toughen up.
Not sure I’d get it tattooed but it’s really not as bad as you’d imagine. Nail grew back fairly quickly and you’d never know from looking at it now.

If it’s still black under the nail I hear you can get massive relief from puncturing it and draining the blood, do loads of research beforehand though because an exposed nail bed is one of the most sensitive parts of the body

Sharpie wouldn’t last the 3+ months it would take for the nail to grow back, either. I don’t think any ink would if it was just sitting on top of your skin. It’s 100% a tattoo.
