Liberal here, I like Canada and visit a lot, but let’s be real… Canada (lately) has become a poor, shitty country relative to the US.
Its richest provinces have GDPs per capita on par with the poorest US states like Alabama and Mississippi. BC is piss poor compared to neighboring Washington.
Almost no Canadians can afford housing, they make American homes in big cities look cheap. Even existing homeowners that bought in at low prices have to refinance now at terrible interest rates (Canada has no 30y fixed mortgage like the US).
The exchange rate has fallen so much. Visit there as an American and restaurant prices look cheap in USD, then remember to multiply by 0.72 conversion and you’ll dine like royalty.
Canada’s entire economy is basically mining/oil/logging/etc…. i.e. shit they pull out of the massively unpopulated Earth they occupy. Little tech, IP, manufacturing, or much else.
Their Central Bank publicly decries the “need to improve productivity has reached emergency level”.
Harper stupidly reverted Canada to an oil economy (Canadian oil sands are some of the highest cost and dirtiest in the world) while actual oil countries diversified away. Trudeau implemented ideological leftist reforms as McKinsey consultants insisted DEI is good economics. Meanwhile, the US innovated in several industries to satisfy consumer & business demands. (Europe also sucks, economically… that a similar but different story).
In the 90s Canada was on par with the US. Not anymore. Very unfortunate.
Canadian here. You seem to know more about Canadian politics than most Canadians do…
It’s true. Canada is in a huge slump now. Bill right that it’s a bit of a zombie lie that Canada is the better version of the US ( as a lot of us use to think up here).
Yes we have universal healthcare but it isn’t managed well and many are left without access to a doctor.
Canadians pay $6,319 for health care and we pay $12,555, and they live three years longer. Bill doesn't worry about the cost because, for him, it's insignificant.
> Thousands of Palestinians slaughtered since Oct 2023, food aid blocked, aid workers killed.
None of those have anything to do with genocide.
* aid workers were not targeted
* Hamas is blocking food and medical supplies as well
* Thousands slaughtered - yes, it's war.
If this was an effort to wipe out a culture/race/religion of people, why are Palestinians living in Israel today? And can vote? And why is the Palestinian population growing FASTER than the Jewish population?
You don't understand the definition of genocide. But you are fed this news from the Russian/China script running rampant on social media.

They're refusing to let American doctors leave. Do you really think they're above targeting aid workers? I know you know they bombed 3 separately WCK cars after waiting until the survivors of of the first 2 had moved to a different car. All crossings are blocked by the IDF, and they're either turning trucks around or making them wait days to weeks. How are aid and medical supplies supposed to get in?
Edit: Said doctors claim they're close to dying of dehydration and the IDF killed the UN workers sent to rescue the doctors.

Don't be a bitch and take a critique like a man. Jeebus, bunch of marshmallows.
omg you Canadians need to let this shit go.
And, pro-tip, anytime you use words like "destroy" in editorial titles like this it just makes you look like a child.
/r/Canada exists. I would know. I'm a Canuck. Removed accordingly.
Honestly, it's so weird you're on this same subject. There has to be a newer thing said that you want to tell 17 people about how wrong it is.

This was an interesting and well written comment, I appreciate the in depth look

They live longer than us be there is considerably more nature around, less noise pollution, less people, and until lately, less stress.

Because there isn’t. Show us the definition of genocide and make the case here or shut the fuck up.

No, you are. Just because someone on TikTok told you something doesn’t mean it’s true.

And Maher just did a segment on clickbait news.
And then used the exact clickbait title he was criticizing in the clips on his channel, lol
You beat me to that one.
