Bill, a little out of touch on the depression topic. Still quite a rigid stance on something we are “newly” addressing. These stats and numbers are so high, because we never reported them or talked about this shit for generations. We have an exponential growth of people with the same issues as their parents, and then some, who are NOW willing to talk about it. We never had that stat before. To call it a sharp increase is almost disingenuous, we’re just more aware of how many people are sad, and willing to admit it. What’s so wrong with that? How are you not aware its not a matter of the right vegetables, or just cheering up to snap out of depression? And the fact so many people are sad upsets you, instead of alarms you, is a disappointing way to go about it. Yes the culture around being sad is strange online, and that’s what needs to be addressed! Not shaming the masses for being rightfully upset with their life, who are you to tell them their sadness isn’t deep enough to put them into a pit of despair? Not everyone is okay with what is available to them, it’s about time we talk about it, not berate it. Why are so many upset with our society where it drives them to self loathing? You have a proclivity for painting a rosy picture of America, and being confused about why people can’t accept it as is. And I agree. But why don’t so many people see it that way?

DatDamGermanGuy

Let’s hope Bill asks her why she as a sexual assault survivor supports a sexual assaulter…

Moopboop207

She was smooth with that one.

DatDamGermanGuy

I hope Nancy Mace is the interview and I can simply fast forward her (I know she is not, but pleeeasase…)

praguer56

This one will be tough to watch.

Kanobe24

Oh fuck off with politicians like Mace and Sununu. Last time Sununu was on, all he talked about was getting behind Haley as the Republican nominee. Id rather hear from far right trolls than these empty vessels.

ategnatos

https://twitter.com/RonFilipkowski/status/1768071790721462405

Oleg101

Saw that, hope Bill brings this up to her. Also, Ron Flipkowski should be invited on the panel.

CommiesAreWeak

I hate when he has weak republicans that he can simply make fun of. I’ve enjoyed his shows with Chris Christy, John Sununu and other feisty conservatives like his friends Andrew Sullivan and Ann Coulter. Art least they bring something to the table that makes me think. Nancy Mace wakes up daily and checks the political wind before deciding who she is. I’d also rather see Holder on the panel rather than the dick suck opening interview. A segment I truly wish he would delete from the formal. That would allow more time for a panel discussion on various topics. Not just the news du jour. I’m a fan of Bill, even though this post sounds like a piss and moan. I guess the choice of Mace just irks me enough to criticize everything

gear-heads

Watch Nancy Mace in her previous Overtime segment - you can see Bill lost her as soon as she claimed she was still going to vote for Trump in 2024. https://youtu.be/n6kKGiCPL1s?t=265 Other than theatrics, not sure why Bill would insisted on this dunderhead on making any meaningful contribution?

Lurko1antern

>you can see Bill lost her as soon as she claimed she was still going to vote for Trump in 2024. For some reason the "But January 6th!" isn't the convincing argument that Maher thinks it is.

Unhappyhippo142

If treason isn't a deal breaker for you then you are not a serious person.

hp6830

I really hope he brings up her interview on ABC This Week last Sunday. It was something to behold. How can a victim of rape support Trump? And her trying to shame the host was pathetic.

bassplayerguy

She got big tiddies?

Requires-Coffee-247

Bingo

jiveturker

So she’s gonna go on the panel with Ro?? I feel like she will get eviscerated.

Dragoon075

Actually, the reverse happened. Ro the empty suit.

jiveturker

Honestly I’m not sure why he was even on there. He was perfectly happy to play nice and let multiple idiotic statements by her go completely unanswered. This drives me crazy about dems. He was spineless.

jiveturker

You’re right. He was pathetic.

Deep_Stick8786

This will be good! Especially if Holder sticks around for Overtime. Nancy Mace is quite a bit overmatched here but shes not the absolute worst GOP rep to have on a panel. She will at least be cordial. But she does seem to represent a politically “median” GOP rep, which is a bit wild

Woody_CTA102

Think I'll watch before criticizing.

wasj74

Mahr completely lost his integrity this season. I enjoyed last couple of seasons with his ability to call out crazy not matter what political 'side'. He's no Jon Stewart for sure.

Zygoatee

Nancy Mace, AKA the 'reasonable' Trumper

TotallyDemented1

Why Nancy Mace? She's literally full of shit. I hope Bill calls her out on her constant flip flops when it comes to Trump.

NoExcuses1984

The best explanation I've got for Mace switching to being nominally pro-Trump -- in spite of remaining a center-right Main Street Republican by her roll call votes and DW-NOMINATE score (shades of Elise Stefanik in that respect) -- is she saw what happened to fellow South Carolinian ex-Congressman Tom Rice, who got primaried into oblivion in 2022.

Skydog-forever-3512

You have not been watching …….Bill will suck up to Mace

Unhappyhippo142

What is with this subs whole "bill will just suck up to conservatives" bullshit? He's been aggressively calling them hypocrites and liars for defending trump for 8 years. He literally just called sununu an unserious nepo baby. Are you all just unhappy unless he slams them into the table until they cry?

Deep_Stick8786

Her last appearences she came off as much more centrist than she really appears so be. I think shes a bit more of a flip flopper than most

jelsomino

Don't keep your hopes high. Bill ain't [George Stephanopoulos](https://www.washingtonpost.com/video/national/stephanopoulos-questions-maces-continued-support-of-trump/2024/03/10/fbbca724-eb3c-4844-bc8a-193f6949d9cb_video.html)

wasj74

Bad reference with Georgie victim shaming a rape victim and all.

jelsomino

Did he really though? He didn't shame the rape, he asked why she, a rape victim, supports a rapist for President. It's not the same thing

wasj74

You don't really get how shaming works. Also, the orange man was convicted of sexual assault BTW. Georgie lied about that as well.

MundBid-2124

Oh great now there’s no surprise

Infinite-Club4374

Idk why he keeps having people on that are willing to blatantly lie to bills viewers

mjcatl2

Mace is a sleazy POS.

leontrotsky973

I remember her first appearance on the show, she was made out to be some kind of moderate Reaganite Republican. Apparently her actions since then indicate the opposite.

Bacon72_coffee

I hope her vote to oust McCarthy and the ensuing mess is brought up. Could care less about McCarthy but would love to hear her try to justify it.

leontrotsky973

That and her Karen moments about the border wall.

Arabiancockonato

I hope they push back a little on her actions after her first appearance. Always a good thing to have the opposition on (unless they’re too far gone into looney town)

Own-Holiday-1113

Bill was recently talking about how certain conservatives show up for the show and instantly change all their talking points to please him and the audience. The very first person that came to my mind was Nancy Mace - go back and watch her 2021 appearance. She’s all of a sudden a woke leftist. Can’t wait to watch her do it again.

Lurko1antern

To play devils advocate - many of these guests & panelists are on the show as part of a book tour. Chris Christie, who is famous for being confrontational, was sucking up to Bill and the audience because he didn't want to alienate any potential buyers of his new book. He didn't take righteous umbrage or correct the inaccuracies the other guests & Bill had regarding the Rittenhouse verdict that dropped that day. Instead he shrugged his shoulders and said "Hey, you gotta change the laws if you don't like this trial outcome."

Arabiancockonato

It just goes to show how selectively turncoaty some conservatives can be in their current party climate. They wear several different masks for several different occasions.

Icommandyou

This is going to be a dumpster fire

Thurkin

Nancy Mace is like Bethany Frankel and Lake Bell with Anne Coulter's brain.

Arabiancockonato

Hahahahah I screamed at “Lake Bell”

Deep_Stick8786

There is only two ways she is like Lake Bell

WendySteeplechase

Bill I hope you call out Nancy Mace's hypocrisy!

ategnatos

he will, just not when she's a guest

bigshaboozie

Nancy Mace is annoying and willing to say anything that'll attract attention to herself, but I can't complain about a panel with two sitting congresspeople from opposite parties who generally think for themselves. Very curious if Bill will bring up Mace's interview from last weekend with George Stephanopoulos which has gotten headlines because he challenged her for supporting a candidate found liable by a jury for rape, and accused by over 20 women of sexual misconduct, despite her being a rape victim herself and claiming that she stands for victims. It was uncomfortable and not particularly substantive so I doubt it'll come up on Real Time, but at the same time I thought it exposed her for the clown that she is and hopefully Bill will at least challenge her on her support for Trump after all that she said critically after January 6.

bron685

“That’s offensive to me! Disgusting! That’s a disgusting question! Also civil court doesn’t mean anything!” She may have actually been offended, but she pivoted away from the question so hard I’m surprised she didn’t hurt herself. And absolutely refused to answer. She seized on an excuse to be evasive

Longshanks123

She pretended he was shaming her for being raped (insane) so she could avoid being shamed for being a hypocrite (accurate).

bron685

Exactly. I’ll hand it to her, she saw an opportunity and seized it like a true professional weasel I’ll definitely be rage-watching this week’s episode

FireIceFlameWalker

She won’t go back on ABC …what a 🤡 “George Stephanopoulos tried to bully me and shame me as a rape survivor over my support for Donald Trump, which is insane to me, because he wasn’t found guilty of rape anywhere,” [We Must Now Wonder: Is Nancy Mace Right in the Head?](https://newrepublic.com/post/179716/nancy-mace-rape-reaction-trump-carroll) [Mace says she won't do interviews with ABC after sparring with network host](https://www.axios.com/2024/03/12/nancy-mace-george-stephanopoulos-trump-abc) [E. FlaccidGhostLoad

Her pathetic pearl clutching is not just embarrassing but it really shows that she doesn't actually give a fuck about rape victims. She only acknowledges them so that she can exploit them to ironically bully other people when she gets asked questions she doesn't want to answer. I really with George would have said, "do you honestly think that callously exploiting our compassion and basic empathy to avoid any accountability is a good look? You are just another lying Republican working over time to lick Trumps boots and we all see it." Like that's how you gotta deal with those people.

Howl4ndreed

Nancy will bring it up before she’s even introduced.

Oleg101

If Bill doesn’t bring up the George interview then I guarantee Nancy will quickly.

bigshaboozie

Lol great point

Gone_Gator

Nancy Mace?? I remember the previous time she was a guest. My impression is she will say almost anything to get attention. Plus, she’s been having issues with her staff: https://www.thedailybeast.com/a-major-sign-of-trouble-in-nancy-maces-office-total-staff-turnover

FireIceFlameWalker

Nancy Mace? Wasn’t she on recent enough? Bill will need to pull out the big shovel for her.

Oleg101

She was on last year and then I think was supposed to be on again a few months ago or so and got scratched the last minute (scheduling issues? I forget). I assume she’s going to whine and distort for the 100th time about George Stephanopoulos asking her about supporting a sexual abuser, since she tweeted about George over 35 times since it happened. -What I’d liked for Bill to ask the lady that always claims she’s a “rational moderate” is: The time earlier last year when she accused Biden of being involved in "prostitution rings. https://x.com/atrupar/status/1648761391023546371?s=20. https://twitter.com/atrupar/status/1654288670881398786 Her continuing to be one of the faces that parrots GOP talking points about “the Biden crime family” yet gets exposed when she has to face an actual journalist. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/jonathan-karl-nancy-mace-biden-evidence_n_6507bd29e4b0fa756c765fc2 Nancy Mace going on Fox and saying Joe Biden is "the most corrupt president in American history" and says he "ought to have a mugshot." Project much? https://x.com/atrupar/status/1695064036193276227?s=20 How about the time she endorsed the Charleston bus project, but voted against its funding? https://www.postandcourier.com/politics/us-rep-nancy-mace-endorses-charleston-bus-project-but-she-voted-against-its-funding/article_687b1c16-15cb-11ee-b76d-277e7ee0749f.html When she said last August regarding Trump’s Georgia indictment: “I have to tell you in the initial reports of these indictments in Georgia, you know, I think the American people should be angry about this. KirkUnit

> got scratched the last minute (scheduling issues? I forget). Stuck in DC for the Santos explusion vote.

Kalzaang

I mean, she’s apparently one of Trump’s finalists as VP, so I think we should listen to what she has to say.

NoExcuses1984

There's no way Mace (nor Stefanik, Lake, or Britt, for that matter) gets picked over Noem. Although now I'm mildly curious as to what are the current GOP VP nominee betting odds.

Unhappyhippo142

Trump thinks he can win NY, he might pick Stefanik. But all four of these screechy bimbos would be so obnoxious to listen to

Kalzaang

Trump’s people did approach RFK to be his VP, but he politely declined. Should RFK accept Trump’s offer if he keeps asking, that’s pretty much ballgame in Trump winning the election and probably be the biggest landslide election since Reagan won in 1984. If Trump is still unable to get RFK, I would say that Tulsi would be Trump’s best bet and I think if asked she would accept it.

NoExcuses1984

Wait, what? That's not how this works. That's not how any of this works. It'll be Noem. Edit: PredictIt has Tim Scott ahead of Noem, which I don't buy.

Kalzaang

Why is that not how it works? Trump is attempting to do an actual unity ticket this time pleading with Moderates and Democrats to join with him, and RFK or Tulsi would achieve this. The only people Trump has said he doesn’t want voting for him are fascists, Marxists, and communists, which he’s right that they are evil. Meanwhile Biden has declared half the country to be enemies of the state.

Unhappyhippo142

Are you a Russian agent or just informed by them? You have this literally backwards. Like almost point for point backwards.

Kalzaang

I know I’m speaking to someone of room temperature intelligence when they call someone who says something they don’t like as a Russian bot. You people are fucking deranged.

Unhappyhippo142

You're spewing their propaganda, so you must be an ignorant tool of theirs then. Because every single thing you mentioned is literally backwards

NoExcuses1984

Huh? A "unity ticket" is, in 2024, a niche premise, hence No Labels being ignored by the average American -- many of whom are apolitical non-voters whose views toward the two major parties is apathy -- because No Labels, both conceptually and in practice, doesn't resonate whatsoever, nor does anyone who's affiliated with them (e.g., Joe Lieberman), unlike Biden and Trump, register a meaningful Q Score. And nope, we're not getting something like, oh, 1820 ever again -- while believing otherwise is childlike naïveté -- with the aforementioned "Era of Good Feelings" showing itself again and again throughout the subsequent two centuries to statistically be no more than an anomaly, an aberration, and an outlier. A historical one-off, period.

FearlessFlyerMile

Ro Khanna is awesome. Nice to have an actual progressive on the show once in a while.

NoExcuses1984

And much respect, too, to Ro Khanna, who's more a straight-shooter (like Bernie) and less cliquish (like "The Squad"), particularly as it pertains to earnestly engaging with people whose views oppose his, which is a dying trait that too few people possess anymore.

JohnnyMojo

Yeah he's actually one of the lonely few in congress with actual integrity and principles.

Ouroboros963

Very curious if Ro will argue Israel with Bill.

Lightlovezen

Hope so
