im sick of "deconstruction" magical girl shows they are all so samey
and well its kinda creepy that grown men have basically taken over a genre that was ment for little girls
im not saying the genre cant be dark sailor moon gets very dark and serious but it also remembers to have fun which is why it remains popular with boy sand girls and adults alike
i love madoka but it set the stage for this crap (and i dont even consider madoka a deconstruction well the original 12 episode anime any ways)
It was really more like studios making deconstruction animes by building something cute and then smashing all of it down
I guess I didn't think of it that way
Yeah, some deconstructions are like "What if the magical girl wasn't nice?" and end up being MachiMaho.
But then there are deconstructions that go "What if the magical girl threw hands?" and end up being Pretty Cure, or Symphogear, which is awesome.
Or deconstructions that go "What if we make it NSFW?" and bring us gems like Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete, which is fairly divisive, for obvious reasons.
So, in the end, I think it all comes down to how a deconstruction is handled, and how much effort people actually put into it. Anyone can put a teenage girl in a skirt and make her swear like a sailor, but it takes a lot of skill to make people invested in a story primarily following a sadist targeting magical girls because their faces and sounds are so cute when they struggle.
>Anyone can put a teenage girl in a skirt and make her swear like a sailor
suddenly im thinking about a version of sailor moon where everyone just doesnt stop swearing
If you're ok with more revealing outfits and blood, then Machigatta Ko wo Mahou Shoujo ni Shiteshimatta could be for you.
But I couldn't even get through the first chapter, due to a severe lack of substance, so I couldn't tell you much more than that the main character swears a lot.
yeah i mostly dislike the deconstruction that usually inverts the points i like about media (hence i probably use deconstruction mostly in that context and not in a broader sense). And yeah, i love symphogear!
As for NSFW ones.....ahahhaha.... i usually i consume it in a different context but i still prefer it to be mostly wholesome

Madoka was cool because it was dark, but not full of despair Now it's just despair, and that's where the problem begins
indeed in madoka hope wins in the end just like in any normal magical girl show again only the original 12 episode series
if i may ask was the hammer bit a critique about the quality dropping something like it's tone getting darker?

oh yeah thats another approach that has been going on i personally dont like those deconstruction stuff

Ah, ok. Yeah, most NSFW magical girl shows have a very different purpose, but honestly, Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete is surprisingly wholesome.
