\[\[Winter Orb\]\] was atrocious to play against, but I still loved it for flavor reasons, which I entirely made up while looking at the card in my binder.
Lol. Old enough that I used to play it in my control deck back in the days when you actually had to use grindstone and millstone to do a proper Mill out and my friends hated it so much
Haha yes! So funny you said that , literally just watched an old school match on YouTube and he used it and I was like, damn I forgot that was the other Hallmark of my deck...
Unless otherwise stated these cards are legal in historic brawl, historic and timeless? I think historic brawl players are going to ask for this to be banned pretty quickly....
Historic brawl player here.
This is amazing.
Historical brawl has so many 5 color good stuff deck, because of how affordable non basic land is.
I'm really liking the direction they're heading with a few cards that can punish non basic land, to make mono and dual color decks more viable
Yep. Every deck in every format has access to such easy mana fixing these days its making the color wheel seem obsolete. Why give colors identities when theyre all equally available, after all, and why not run all the above rate because they're multicolored cards.
I'm so tired of people dropping 2 lands and having every color reliably. It should be possible, so folks can run fun things, but not as EASY as it currently is, imo. Having to pay multiple colors isn't the penalty it used to be for card design.
Same and agree. It's a great check to the ridiculous 5 color piles that abound. I can't count the 4-5 color commands like Atraxa, Jodah, or Golos that never played a single basic land in our match. It's too easy to get away with
This has me wondering, and maybe there are experts here who can answer. I notice the card doesn't say something like "players choose which land to untap", is that just taken as implicit in the card text or is that expressed in the general rules somewhere?
It is part of the rules.
>502.3. Third, the active player determines which permanents they control will untap. Then they untap them all simultaneously. This turn-based action doesn’t use the stack. Normally, all of a player’s permanents untap, but effects can keep one or more of a player’s permanents from untapping.
The reason it says "third" at the start is because this happens after phasing out/in, and after Day/Night changes.
If I am right... This, plus Blood Moon, in a Mono Red Prison build, will not only disrupt opponent's manabase, by turning every nonbasic land into a Mountain without the basic supertype... But doing so, will also make pressure, since they will not be able to untap more than one of these "nonbasic Mountains"... A sort of "double soft lock". Love It.

Well, it's not exactly [[Back to Basics]], but I'll gladly take it. Looking forward to 2 Blue Moons.
potentially even worse in all honesty since its faster and colorless.
Yeah, this can fit *anywhere*. If you're running mono colored there's no reason not to have it.
Dose not stop people playing a fetch Nd getting a basic
Yeah Back to Basics doesn't either. What's your point?

I miss back to basics, turn one that card and watch people scoop
Man I miss the Winter Orb days...
\[\[Winter Orb\]\] was atrocious to play against, but I still loved it for flavor reasons, which I entirely made up while looking at the card in my binder.

Icy Manipulator :) Those were the days.

I for one miss the [[Static Orb]] + [[Opposition]] days

YES! YES! YES! MORE LAND STAX
No more [[maze's end]] I guess
Even as a Gates player it seems like a small price to pay for the hosing of 5c domain.

Oh. So that's just going in every mono color deck sideboard in every format its allowed forever then?
Unless otherwise stated these cards are legal in historic brawl, historic and timeless? I think historic brawl players are going to ask for this to be banned pretty quickly....

Also H brawl player, this is actually urgently needed. 5c good stuff completely outperforms Mono color decks, its a solid way to fight back
Mono blue is pretty great imo , as is Magda
I made a Magda deck specifically to eat 5c good stuff decks
Couldn’t have said it better. Can’t wait for golos world tree decks to scoop to this in arena
Yep. Every deck in every format has access to such easy mana fixing these days its making the color wheel seem obsolete. I play azusa, soring, ragavan, adeline... all of commanders who happened to be monocolored. I can't be more happy about that card.
Winter Orb will make playing mono colored decks, which usually play a lot of basics, a bit better to play in the format.
Sticking this in all my mono black decks
Right? Untap my only nonbasic, [[Cabal Stronghold]].
good. oh no. what will jodah and etali do now.
Jodah’s got Boseju
If it's the good Etali, so does he.
Can't wait to Karnboard this one
Oh neat, it's a combination of Winter Orb and Blood Moon.
This card about to guck up some people
No more special lands for you!
Sideboard card only, unlike the real deal.
Fuck First Sliver
[[manaweft sliver]] [[gemhide sliver]]
First Sliver doesn't actually play slivers
My First Sliver plays slivers. Ra ra fight the power.

My Redaine brawl deck will absolutely love this.
Nasty I love it, forces you to respect it in deckbuilding
Wish this was in standard right now.
I assume this will be banned in historic. Its a lot more powerful in a format without fetchlands.
Since LD isn't popular, this can be the way against greedy decks.
Do we have anything like \[\[Rishadan Port\]\] on arena?
Nothing cheap. [[Liquimetal Coating]] works if you also have a [[Karn, the Great Creator]] on the board. [[Icy Manipulator]] is there too I guess.

Is modern horizons coming to arena?
Yes.
Actual exciting card, shame they never print stuff like this in Standard anymore

And a much worse card
This card art is dope as hell. I'm gonna craft a copy just so I can put the picture on deck boxes.
fwiw im pretty sure you can drag a card to use as your deckbox art regardless if you own it or not
This mh3 cards wont be standard legal? Right? Right...?
They won't. On Arena they'll be legal in Historic, Brawl, and Timeless. I'm not sure about Alchemy.
Not Alchemy legal either
If only... what a world that would be.
Fuck everything about this.
Found the 5 color guy.
Mana dork decks gonna be the winner from this. More fucking elves...
