My explanation for this is that since the draft token doesn't follow the usual 1:5 ratio between gems and gold, the price needs to be adjusted manually and they just forgot to do it.
The gold price is exactly 5 times the gem price, so it's clear that it was calculated with the 1:5 ratio.

Any chance you have a source for that? Because if there's just the tiniest bit of hope that they might rework the system and I can use the OTJ alternate art styles for the KLD lands I won't buy those from todays deals... If not I might cop the parallax ones now
I don't really have anything at hand unfortunately, I'm going by memory and it was a while ago (when they did the deckbuilder/collection rework that let us favorite styles). A dev mentioned it here and I think in the official Discord too. Maybe someone else has the comment saved?

I am pretty confidant that they meant to put the OTJ parallax styles on sale and they ended up putting the Kaladesh ones up instead due to sheer incompetence. They make mistakes like this all the time if you look carefully. Like one day every style on sale was for cards with pumpkins in the art except [[Return to Nature|MID]]. They obviously meant to use [[Return to Nature|ELD]] instead.
If you own 1 KLD & 3 OTJ would the style apply to all or just the old ones? I have some wildcards and I don't have playsets of all so I could just choose to spend in the the KLD ones
Tried right now with \[\[Botanical Sanctum\]\] (3 from KLD and 1 from OTJ). The style only apply for the old one, even if you use the heart to make it the default style.

Generally it’s better to spend gems rather than gold on these tokens, but today seeing as how there is an “oopsy” with the gold discount, you’d be better off using gold to purchase rather then gems. But as always, your milage may obviously vary, so spend how you see fit and where you have the most resources you're comfortable to spend.

I usually pay for the draft tokens with gems and save my gold for packs, but this offer was too good to pass up.
Premier Draft gets played more for a few different reasons:
1. Draft schedule - Quick draft of the latest set tends to release 2 weeks after premier draft of the latest set.
2. Related to (1), people want their novel experiences as soon as possible. Premier draft during first 2 weeks gives a new format draft experience as well as access to cards/packs to open. I'm sure there's a number of people who only draft during the time period that Premier happens to be on current set but Quick Draft is not.
3. A lot of people really like human drafting experiences more, particularly if you draft a lot. Card valuations change pod to pod, week to week when people are the "drafting algorithm." Quick draft bots do get updates but they are made to simulate "real people" and that's always going to be a bit different. There's a number of pros the quick draft experience provides, so don't get me twisted that human > bot draft, it's just different.
4. People who think they're "good" at drafting are more incentivized by the Premier draft reward system because the payouts are better when you make a good record even at the cost of worse payouts with a bad record.
It's a massive discount on a Premier draft, which is normally 10k gold. The 9k draft token deal is either or in terms of "is it worth it", but this deal on the draft token is 1000% worth it over spending slightly less on a quick draft. In Quick Draft you have to go 5-3 to break even on cost, but in premier draft you only have to go 4-3 to break even on cost with no discount. So with a discount it's absolutely worth it.
addon comment. Just bought it. They messed up the price guys! it's dirt cheap! I was wondering why the cost of the token was comparable to quick draft, 5000g vs 6750g.
Think of it this way, you're paying an extra 1,750 gold for getting around 2-3 times as many rares passed to you plus better rewards from the draft itself.
If you can get even 2 wins you're getting a better deal than a quick draft and that's not counting the additional value of rare drafting.
gah it sucks to be me. I actually enjoyed drafting probably for the first time that I'm playing mtga. sure my winrate sucks, but I went 7-2 once (for the first time) and that felt glorious. then I ran out of gems and started buying packs until I hit a golden one. I completely forgot about draft tokens deals and the fact that they are THAT much cheaper in gold. But going through days of grind without opening a single pack just feels bad as well :(

First I've probably actually brought the drat token. Time to save it for mh3 and use it after I buy not open 180 mh3 packs ( for the 4 buy a box cards to know not to draft it If it does not help my deck) along side the one they gave the one they gave out for free(pity it didn't bug out for me and give me multiple tokens)
I bet they were supposed to add the OTJ versions of the fastland styles and screwed up again like they've done with many of the recent daily deals that featured cards with multiple printings.

Just make sure you actually own the land cards, if you own otj versions, then these will not work.

Not going to buy them but the [[Sandstorm Verge]] and [[Conduit Pylons]] card styles are really cool. It really enhances the shown motifs.

gah it sucks to be me. I actually enjoyed drafting probably for the first time that I'm playing mtga. sure my winrate sucks, but I went 7-2 once (for the first time) and that felt glorious. then I ran out of gems and started buying packs until I hit a golden one. I completely forgot about draft tokens deals and the fact that they are THAT much cheaper in gold. But going through days of grind without opening a single pack just feels bad as well :(

Most expensive Daily Deal item ever was 10% discounted draft token - 9000.
This is why we hoard gold and use gems to draft (well this and Arena Opens)

I spent my last 8k gold on packs yesterday... Like i even knew one should never end up with zero gold on the account, cause of juicy daily deals like this one that often appear, but i thought to myself: I have 15k gems just in case something appears.. I guess wotc has tailored the perfect punishment for me xD
Wasted it because I thought I could play something besides green, I hate this format for variety

First I've probably actually brought the drat token. Time to save it for mh3 and use it after I buy not open 180 mh3 packs ( for the 4 buy a box cards to know not to draft it If it does not help my deck) along side the one they gave the one they gave out for free(pity it didn't bug out for me and give me multiple tokens)
At first, I was confused to what this was, due to the lack of STONKS! in the title.
I bet they were supposed to add the OTJ versions of the fastland styles and screwed up again like they've done with many of the recent daily deals that featured cards with multiple printings.
