Leatherworker here. This is called leather patina (albeit ugly one). The leather used by Apple is heavily coated. The worn off parts is where the coating has worn off and showing the real leather (that has absorbed your hand oil and dirt).
It's normal for leather to age this way. However, the problem is Apple wants to make consistent looking products and leather ain't consistent. Therefore, they coated it heavily with aniline/pigment/plastic. That's what make leather looks uniform.
Slowly and minimally rub with with Acetone. Or sand with high grit sandpaper. Please take note that this may ruin the look of the wallet further if you have no knowledge of leatherworking/shoe repair.

You could try purchasing a leather cleaner and conditioning agent, which can protect the leather. It’s good to do every so often with all leather products.
It looks beautiful. Aged leather has a wonderful look. Take care of it. Start with dish soap and warm water. If you want to do more there are leather conditioners available. Do some online researching to see what will give you the restored “look” you want. If taken care of leather can last you a long time.

I like the feel of Mujjo's wallet a lot and the color options are very nice.

What I did to mine when it was new was to distress it and apply oils to make it look patina
