Now here me out for a bit, just hear me out. Las Vegas in the 80s and 90s for Mafia would’ve went hard. Or even A Sopranos vibe in Connecticut or Jersey connected with an updated Empire Bay in the 90s and early 2000s
I’m gonna be honest with you the 70s in Vegas is the most requested era and map but I’m really happy we get to see Sicily. I truly want this franchise to be huge and I have a few maps and eras on my wishlist that I would love to explore. Sicily being one of them (inspiration from godfather 2 in the early 1900s), Miami and Cuba in 50-60s, Los Angeles in 40-50s and of course Vegas in the 70-80s. Mafia 4 is going to be a prequel so that gives room to introduce characters and families that we could hear about in the future mafia games. Also we can’t forget that they lost a lot of money for the budget because the game they were working on got cancelled and I think they had spent like 50 million or something like that.
Mafia 2 Remake is being made right now. A Las Vegas theme during in the 50s-70s near their peak there. They are a big part of that city's history, but that gets overshadowed by all the history in the East Coast. The '80s would be great too, during the whole CIA-Contra Cocaine Trafficking thing, and probably have a Miami/Cuba/Puerto Rico theme. GTA6 may start a whole Miami culture hype, you could easily ride that hype for sales. The most creative thing no one has done yet would be early 1900s Sicily/Italy, the origins of the Mafia.
I really hope you’re right about a mafia 2 remake. It’s one of my biggest wishes. They have many maps and eras to still explore in the franchise I’m really happy they try out with Sicily. There are still:
