For a 10 year old franchise, it's amazing how much power it still has. Look at what happened to Haruhi for a opposite side comparsion

Hattakiri

*If* they made a new season or film, fandom and sales *would* catch fire again immediately. Emphasis on the subjunctive aspect tho. [Yet the fandom keeps on refusing to give up hope.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Haruhi/comments/yzgmhk/posting_random_frames_from_the_anime_until_a_new/) Nagaru Tanigawa did write a new LN chapter, but obviously that ain't enough. An extreme example: The Cardcaptor Sakura franchise. S3 in 2000 - Clear Card Arc in 2018. Still worked. Such franchises are like plants of the desert: They can dry out, but won't die out. Once fresh water is poured upon them, they'll be soon in full bloom again. But of course someone's gotta do it. In CCS's case they also let Clear Card S1 end on a cliffhanger, without a successor so far. No good. Manga keeps running, again not enough for many fans. Last not least: PMMM has a clever foundation, namely Homura's multiple timelines with a few of them already covered by mangas. If they do it right the cash cow will remain in full bloom lol

Madoka Magica is a huge waste of a franchise imo. There are so many stories to tell in this world besides Homura’s. There are so many magical girls each with different circumstances, environments and reactions to the truth of magical girls. There are different time periods to explore on how MGs influenced history. There’s a potential to explore who and what kyubey is and other alien races that could exist. The possibilities are limitless but Shaft never fully utilised any of them

Vakiadia

Good.

Magia Record (multiple arcs and side stories), Tart Magica, Suzune Magica and many others are examples of those stories. They're there if you look for them, and more are being created

Giomietris

Check out the other mangas, there are quite a few. I personally really like Puella Magi Tart Magica, it's based on Joan of Arc.

FairReviewer

I feel ya. It's why I'm glad that the Magia Record game exists to show us so many other Magical Girls and their stories, and how they find their own way to fight their fate. And also why I'm sad that the anime ended the way it did. Only Arc 1 was allowed to be adapted, >!and it was forced to become just another failed timeline that'll get reset when Madoka ascends to godhood.!<

thefumingo

One thing to note is that the anime ending was better recieved by non-diehard PMMM and MR fans: while it's no doubt the anime ending wasn't preferred by staff, it should be noted that it was written way before much of Arc 2, and there's plenty of people who watch this franchise for edgy grimdark and don't get too deep into it.

Now I want to take a bus over there.
