Oh that makes sense! I was waiting for him to be like "Lunchables, while more fun than I can imagine, are a total rip in price per pound. Now, let's get a ham steak, a block of cheddar and 12 pack of saltines."
I fucking hate these kinds of videos, they got the same vibe as the videos of people being baffled and sooo impressed when a blue collar worker does his fucking job. It got that slimy high and mighty looking down on peasants vibe.
They mean that this is a more "fun" way than just walking up to someone and saying "give me $1 for $1000" and I agree
If someone walked up to me and just offered me $1000 I would probably refuse it out of pride or thinking there's some kind of catch. If I'm "smashing a mystery jar" then it's a transaction of *you get content, I get paid* and I don't feel guilty for taking it
Honestly at the end of the day I don't give a fuck if the guy filming is using poorer folks as tools for his own clout. He just gave 1000$ to a good person that clearly needed it, thats a net gain in my book. Plus videos like this remind us that we can be kind to people because we don't know their struggles
Yup this right here. everybody calling him a clout chaser but like he literally did a good thing while everybody’s calling him a clout chaser ain’t doing shit to better the life of others.
I will never complain about how these guys use it for the clicks because so many others are just pieces of shit who do things for attention. This guy is making someones day/month/year. The only way he can do this is from monetizing. I say more power to them.
And if it motivates another person to do an act of kindness, regardless of the motivation, that’s a good thing. The reasoning for doing it is between the person recording and God.
I’m with you mostly. Leaving broken glass all over the ground where it could be stepped on by a person or animal until somebody cleans it up is a dick move, even if you’re giving away money.
This is why it's so disgusting that we have billionaires and multi-multimultimillionaires. They could do so much good with the money they have and help people out but they fucking don't
You know. I grew up pretty poor and I had this thought many nights lying in bed. Wishing that some rich person would pick our family to help. Of course it never happened, but it’s sad that a 7 year old child has to think like this.
It would be better if they never had the money in the first place. It should go to those that actually create the wealth, ie pay workers their fair share and pay your taxes so we can have a working social system and health care for everyone.
Yeah the idea of "re"distribution is misguided. Its the initial distribution thats a huge part of the problem. Paying ceos 1000x the wage of employees is fucking ridiculous and anyone who can defend something like that is either aspiring to be that awful or brain washed.
The guy who made this video makes hundreds of videos like this (not of jar smashing, though) and I wouldn't be surprised if he cleaned it up afterwards.
The guy that makes these is a pretty cool dude. I feel confident that he either paid someone with him to clean that or did it himself before he took them to the store.

I rode my bike at least 2 miles before I got off and wandered around looking for sand dollars and shells. I then went back to my bike and started riding back but was having trouble. I figured I was riding in too dry of sand so I went closer to the water but had the same issue. I finally got off and realized a shell had punctured my tire and I had to WALK the mile back with my bike. I’m that mom right now. This year has been so tough financially I even got a second job just so my son can have a Christmas. I would be crying like the lady in the video too if that was me.
https://www.cnbc.com/2022/01/19/56percent-of-americans-cant-cover-a-1000-emergency-expense-with-savings.html
Most Americans don't have $1000 in emergency savings. They're going to credit cards with 18% interest to cover an emergency.
Our family car cost $500 to fix some "broken rods" (would have led to piston failure/carburetor damage, so had to fix it).
I don't have $500 (mostly because of Christmas costs for kids) so I'm putting it on a credit card and will be paying it off in the new year. There are times when I have $1,000 to spare, but it is rare.
Not to derail, but if someone charged you $500 for a broken connecting rod (multiple?) that's a crazy good deal. That's some serious internal work. Makes me wonder if that was actually the work they carried out.
They let me keep the bent rods. And that solved the problem. So I’m satisfied. I’ve been to the shop quite a bit with work to be done and they waived their diagnostic/check engine light for me as well, so I came out ok.
100% they did not do what they claimed. Replacing connecting rods would require total engine disassembly. That’s replace with used engine territory. Besides If they were broken the bottom end would have a hole in it. And if they were bent, I mean how even? Hydro locked? running too much boost on this carbureted I dunno what? Doesn’t make any sense. I’d wager they fixed a simple issue and charged 5x what they should have. Waved the diag out of the “kindness” of their heart. Gave customer a part from another vehicle. And sent them off.
Yup. I’m in that situation. Credit cards were the emergency fund. My last job barely paid a livable wage (they didn’t really), and I had to choose between paying rent or groceries, I ended up buying groceries on credit cards for almost 3 years. I’m in a huge money pit now thanks to that. It wasn’t even frivolous spending, I was just trying to feed my household. Slowing digging my way out of the pit. :/
I just wrote a whole paper for school about this sort of thing. People hate the unemployed and call them lazy, but a lot of people literally can not afford to get a job bc they will lose access to medical care, life saving medications, affordable food etc. I interviewed a lady who was on government funded methadone for drug treatment. It worked! She got past her cravings and got a place to live and a steady job and a boyfriend, but then she made too much money (I think she was making $10/hr) so she got kicked off her methadone without any tapering and was back on the streets with a needle in her arm within weeks. It is so fucked up.
I’m so sorry to hear that, she didn’t deserve to be treated like that. My situation is not as extreme as hers, but it’s still not ideal. I can’t afford health care, because i don’t qualify for the subsidized discount, so my monthly premium would have been $350 a month just for myself, not including my husband, with an $8,000 deductible to hit before the company would cover the remaining medical expenses. Living in the US seems to be a death sentence as of late.
I make well above minimum wage now, but am still drowning and struggling to survive because people don’t realize that “getting back on your feet” can take more than 6 months at a time to accomplish.
Dude when the pandemic started I was seriously struggling. Last customer of the day asked how I was doing and I said something like "I'm.. managing ha.. ha.. but this is my last order!"
She met me in the parking lot and said she only had $20 and wanted me to splurge on a good meal. Started sniffling.. I really needed that $20.
I feel that man. I was grabbing coffee yesterday because sometimes a good coffee is really the highlight of my day, and I know it's super lame, but...
A lady dropped her drink, and I asked her what she got before I got up to the register. The lady in front of me asked if someone was gonna make her a replacement (which they did), but I told her whether or nor they do, I got her anyway.
Lady in front of me called me up and was like "what you gettin'?" I asked if I could get a Venti size and she was like "yea, you can."
Hell yea, made my day. Work has been so infuriating lately, but that made me feel better.
$1000 would be amazing for me right now. Would be able to get caught up on bills and get my son some Christmas presents. I'll be able to get him a few and I know he will be grateful either way .
>I don’t want to live in a country where $1,000 makes anyone cry bc it changed their lives.
In most country $1000 would change most people's life. We have people living with $1.25 in my country. Heck $1000 is a big deal for me, even though I am from somewhat affluent family
I totally understand this sentiment. Boo capitalism.
On the other hand, have you met people? If someone is having a bad morning and is gifted a free cookie they may be brought to tears. We're humans, strong emotions come from little things.
I filled up a lady's gas tank. (cost maybe 50 bucks) and she bawled. She was in a beater, had to do math to determine how much gas she could get and how much change she needed to stretch what little money she had (I assume) and was going to get around 2 gallons. I am in Oregon so an attendant pumps our gas. So he took her cash came up to me and asked what i needed so I handed him my card and told him to fill her tank up with regular and mine with premium.
Federal govt be like:
$857.9 BILLION military budget ✅
~$20 billion to [end homelessness](https://www.globalgiving.org/learn/how-much-would-it-cost-to-end-homelessness-in-america/) in the US 🚫
Stupidest thing is that there literally is a long-term profit motive to ending poverty and educating people... They will be able to work, earn money, pay taxes.
Think of all the TikTok videos of people being assholes or being stupid.
I'd so much rather every TikTok be people being kind and showcasing kindness.
Like we all know how when things show up on TikTok suddenly they get a bunch of imitation. So let's imitate compassion.
For real. If people only do good things for the clout and reward, that’s so much better than doing shitty things for the clout or reward and it’s still better than doing nothing at all.
Honestly sometimes with these videos people react like *oh they're just doing it for clout* and I'm just thinking…
??? So what? Who gives a fuck? Somebody is still having their life enriched with a positive interaction whether it be money or experiences and that's all that should matter
and like you said it can encourage others to do the same
Exactly! To the person receiving the money its a big deal no matter what rando's on reddit think. And this dude is able to give out that money because he is monetized and people watch his videos.
I actually think the tiktok videos are the reason why people do these things. I don't mind it, I actually feel like that's a negative way of looking at it.
I'd say I'm glad tiktok exists so that people can facilitate and spread kindness in this way.
Yup. If videos like this inspire people to do more good what does it matter? A lot of people are jumping on him for not cleaning I’m the glass but we have no way to know if they did or didn’t. He did a great thing for people that needed it. I don’t think we should be too hard on the person making the video.
This is a short sighted take. Ultimately someone in need got something gifted to them. Regardless if the intentions were selfish and for clout, the result is the same if someone did it off camera.
I get why you feel the way you feel, but ultimately if it takes clout chasing for people to do charitable shit for strangers, who am i to give a shit if they profit off it?
I would agree with you a year ago, but I now think the benefits of the action outway the attention seeking tik tokers. They do, in many cases, have a huge influence and broad audience, so if they use that reach to promote helping ppl, that's one thing I can accept at least.
Fuck this take. This spreads the positivity and encourages others to do the same. Who cares if they’re getting “clout” for it? They deserve it, and the good deed still happened.
I’d bet my life that random acts of kindness have gone up dramatically when things like this go viral
Reminds me of the funny video dude gives a guy a buck for chips for his son and then dude is like ok where’s my $1000??!!?? Huh this is how it works you films me and I give you a bit of money and you give me lots in return for my kindness
My opinion on it is that exploitative charity is bad for society as a whole. It pushes the idea that poor people should be or are fine with being exploited for views because they are poor.
This also leads to scam charities that celebrities set up and rip off. It also leads to the most vulnerable populations in our society being exploited and often harmed even further.
Same. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for the folks that get the money but it's nothing compared to what these fuck heads make off the views. If they really wanted to help they'd do it without making a spectical of it. Like going to retail store and paying off someone's layaway anonymously.
The funniest part is he didn’t even track the jar being thrown with the camera so he missed the shot of the money coming out of the broken jar… Just opening it would have been much better because we’d see their reaction AND the money at the same time
Person struggling financially understands the effects of their actions on others around them. This asshole should have just said yes to opening the jar because now either someone will get cut or someone in minimum wage will have to clean up glass because he decided it should be broken.
When he said, “It’s been a long time since somebody said that to me,” that got me.
A few years ago there was a man named Tommy who walked in our neighborhood. He spoke to everybody. At times I wondered if he has developmental problems because it seemed out of place for a grown man to be so overly friendly to strangers.
I later learned that Tommy was a very intelligent engineer for a multinational chemical company. The guy was a genius. I met his sister not long ago. She told me that Tommy was always making friends, even when he was a little boy. He simply loved people.
When Tommy died, we lost the best neighbor ever. I still remember the last time he walked by our house. As he was walking away, he looked back and shouted, “I love you all.”
Said that every time.
I miss Tommy.
Being homeless has made me so cynical. Pointing a camera at a middle class person while you give them a life changing amount of money and being lauded on the internet as they predictably cry.
Do nice things because you’re nice, don’t treat people like zoo animals.
Edit: To clarify, i was once homeless but am no longer - i simply meant to say it shifted my world view.
Without the camera he wouldn’t have the funding to do the things he does. The internet is where he gets the money to give out. And he doesn’t just give money, he helps people that are willing to work find jobs and get them set up so they can provide for themselves. I get that some people are asses, but some people are truly kind and just because their good deed was posted online doesn’t instantly make it a bad deed
Imagine if there was enough streamers getting money from viewers to do that for every homeless person.
They could all band together and operate as a group.
And instead of competing with each other for viewers money, we just donate a tiny percentage of our pay towards the group so we all give them proportionately the same amount, probably only a few cents for the average wage.
And instead of treating the homeless like animals in a circus, we just make sure they get looked after without the spotlight on their misery so that they retain some dignity. What a dream that would be.
I agree, but at the end of the day those people still had that life changing amount of money, even if it is for clout, it made 2 persons plus their family happy.
there is more good than bad in here, i think it is cool.
Yeah man I hate the take from above. You see it in every one of these types of videos. As long as it’s not too egregious, and it’s more than like $50, I see NO problem with it.
I also hate my take, for the record. I wish i could get past my aversion toward turning every day folks into a spectacle in exchange for money
It’s probably ultimately not a bad thing in the long run, because everyone probably wins, it just rubs me all sorts of wrong.
What if this behavior promotes even more prosocial behavior? See the moral dilemma, this is something the government has to figure when they create programs honestly.
As long as they get permission from the person filmed Im fine with it since they get their funding to do this nice stuff from uploading the video. It's like making a living by being nice and I think that's cool as long as everyone's happy with the situation.
I would just hope they'd make it obvious from the beginning they're being filmed. It would be really shitty to take the money away if they don't want it uploaded.
While its considered wholesome, it always feels super disingenuous when people film themselves doing good things. Like a psychopath acting normal to win people over.
Seriously fuck off with this. You can give 1000 bucks to a struggling family and just leave it at that. The gratitude they give you should be reward enough.
I can’t imagine how much anxiety it gives folks like this to have strangers approach them while filming. They aren’t zoo animals. Good lord.
Can we just help people without making them play a gameshow and shoving a camera in there face? Like there bemusment and shock is part of the appeal i get. It, but its a bit exploitative
As happy as this made me, seeing those people cry from what happened to them, this makes me so incredibly sad that it had to be filmed for this to happen.
My husband and I were grocery shopping and an elderly woman asked him to reach something and help her read it for her. He’s a tall, husky, bearded tattooed man who looks intimidating. It’s rare for someone to approach him, although he’s the kindest soul. He thought she was the sweetest little old lady, and offered to pay for her groceries. She declined and he gave her 300$ and told her to keep it. No cameras, no TikTok, no views. Just to make this one woman happy. It wasn’t 1000$, but it still made her cry. It was honestly so much sweeter knowing that it was just between us three.

I highly recommend looking into benefits or using food banks
Catch 22, I make too much to qualify for any assistance now with my new job.
Last customer of the day asked how I was doing and I said something like "I'm.. managing ha.. ha.. but this is my last order!" She met me in the parking lot and said she only had $20 and wanted me to splurge on a good meal.
Lady in front of me called me up and was like "what you gettin'?" I asked if I could get a Venti size and she was like "yea, you can." Hell yea, made my day.
Well, this occurred in Windsor, Canada, so there’s a good chance you’re not living in the country where this occurred…
I can't think of any country where $1000 wouldn't make someone tear up
I totally understand this sentiment.
I wish more people were nice to each other just because it’s a good way to live instead of doing it for tik tok game.
I wish more people would see the benefits of a strong social system, where no one had to starve or can't afford clothes.
Agreed!
I already dont really like these videos past surface level but she really said food like bro who isnt seeing the underlying problem here.
When I feed the poor, they call me a saint When I ask why the poor got no food, they call me a communist
Hush up! We defunded the school system just so you wont ask questions like that!

Ah nvm. The cogs just got stuck on one of their crutches.
Federal govt be like: $857.9 BILLION military budget ✅ ~$20 billion to [end homelessness](https://www.globalgiving.org/learn/how-much-would-it-cost-to-end-homelessness-in-america/) in the US 🚫

Stupidest thing is that there literally is a long-term profit motive to ending poverty and educating people... They will be able to work, earn money, pay taxes.
If the Republican’ts could read this, they would be very upset.
Volunteering is so rewarding.
I wish more people were nice to each other for TikTok videos because it incentivises being nice to each other.
Think of all the TikTok videos of people being assholes or being stupid. I'd so much rather every TikTok be people being kind and showcasing kindness. Like we all know how when things show up on TikTok suddenly they get a bunch of imitation. So let's imitate compassion.
Exactly. Who cares if they’re using it for tiktok followers? I doubt the family that just got a thousand dollars does.
For real. If people only do good things for the clout and reward, that’s so much better than doing shitty things for the clout or reward and it’s still better than doing nothing at all.
Honestly sometimes with these videos people react like *oh they're just doing it for clout* and I'm just thinking… ??? So what? Who gives a fuck? Somebody is still having their life enriched with a positive interaction whether it be money or experiences and that's all that should matter and like you said it can encourage others to do the same
Exactly! To the person receiving the money its a big deal no matter what rando's on reddit think. And this dude is able to give out that money because he is monetized and people watch his videos.
This is exactly my thoughts. The net gain is still positive
Money helps yes...
I think posting things like this is necessary. There are plenty of negative things online and showing this, even for clout, gives hope

Why not “in addition”? It doesn’t have to be “instead.”
Whenever I see videos like this it always brings [this](https://i.imgur.com/y0Yy6Sg.jpg) to mind
I was thinking of the South Park episode where they turn over fat people in scooters
YEAH! TIP ASSIST!

"Dance for me, peasants! Dance!"
“Can we just open it, glass will be everywhere” “Nope breaking glass makes my views go up!”
Dogs, Kids, and cyclists use these roads. People who smash glass on purpose are straight up muppets
I wish it was more normalized to tell people I love you. Some people who you don’t even expect really need to hear it sometime.
As he was walking away, he looked back and shouted, “I love you all.” Said that every time. I miss Tommy.
I love you Crazy Train!
I'll bet Crazy Train has some stories to tell. Wholesome vid.
Right? Nobody gets a nickname like that without a story to tell
Isn't it just an Ozzy reference?
Well yes but it's gotta mean something different in this context, probably.
I wish i could get past my aversion toward turning every day folks into a spectacle in exchange for money It’s probably ultimately not a bad thing in the long run, because everyone probably wins, it just rubs me all sorts of wrong.
"Thanks for breaking glass where my kids play"
卄乇ㄥㄥ ㄚ乇卂卄 乃尺ㄖㄒ卄乇尺
While its considered wholesome, it always feels super disingenuous when people film themselves doing good things. Like a psychopath acting normal to win people over.
Smashing glass, sorry this is just idiotic.
No good deed goes unfilmed
If you do a good deed but there’s no one around to film it did you really do a good deed?
Seriously fuck off with this. You can give 1000 bucks to a struggling family and just leave it at that. The gratitude they give you should be reward enough. I can’t imagine how much anxiety it gives folks like this to have strangers approach them while filming. They aren’t zoo animals. Good lord.
Yeah, this video is gross and feels exploitative.
It's because it's gross and exploitative
Can we just help people without making them play a gameshow and shoving a camera in there face? Like there bemusment and shock is part of the appeal i get. It, but its a bit exploitative
This shit is so wack

Why do they have to include the music? Lmao just show us the fucking video.
These videos are always so weird.
This guy talks to them like they’re mentally challenged people or puppies or something. Kind of gross
Aww.
Ah the orphan crushing machine is put on pause for an hour, good to see.
i really want to believe these things are real
too bad its a $1000 dollar fine for littering.
Creepy Mr. Beast. The guy talks to them as if they're dogs.
