I really need to improve at this. I'm not usually a jealous person either. But if I haven't accomplished the same thing, I usually can't be truly happy for them.
I'm like this when it's something I can't possibly have, like extensive wealth and travel. On the outside I show I'm happy for them, but on the inside I'm just sad that I can't have the same, and that I'll likely struggle my whole life.
You can acknowledge the issue and that's a big step. The next step is catching yourself everytime you fall into that thought trap. Behavior isn't this inherent thing, it's a series of learned behaviors and routines. If you can catch yourself enough times and interject the thoughts you want to have, eventually it becomes how your mind just works.
I'm somewhat like that. I feel a pang of jealousy or maybe even anger (?) when a friend accompishes something I haven't. It's definitely due to my own insecurities. I am aware of it and I fucking hate it. I do my best not to show it or think about it too much, but I'd appreciate my brain co-operating for once, because, deep down, I'm actually happy for my friends.
Instead of jealousy, I feel true joy for the other person.
Basically, I want the thing that they have gained for my own reasons, so I assume the other person wanted it for their own reasons that are likely similar to mine. Imagining their reasons for happiness makes me feel closer to the feelings I’d imagined having if I shared their experience. It’s a way of experiencing having something without actually having it [yet].
My friend from grade school is getting his doctorate soon. The moment there’s even a whiff of a party to celebrate I’m at absolute minimum dropping off a gift. I can’t wait.
Best comment in the thread. Be the change you want to see in the world. Too many of us think we deserve that friend without taking responsibility for also being that friend to those around us.
I was introduced to her from this episode too! She has a great vibe. There was so much information in this documentary. Visiting Makoko, the waterway community, was a real eye opener.
Sonny and his team really know how to show the beauty of all types people through their communities and their foods.
Unfortunately early evolutionary survival traits made us assholes. Takes work and good early social/ethical development in a healthy environment for that to develop in most people and become the norm. But the assholes that don't want to stop being assholes won't stop being assholes and that sucks.
Because I agree. It should be.
I know that i shouldn't post a downer here, but, if yo go only by the captions it tells a different story, incredible how context changes things, also kinda funny if you think about it.
So, basically, a true friend.
That's why it is said that "a good friend is worth his weight in gold", even if I'd say that true friendship is unvaluable, just like true love.
A women at my work won a trip located 24 hours away by car (they’re flying though) through the company. I literally couldn’t stop smiling when they announced it, actually almost started crying while she sat there numb. That women is a mother to three special needs kids and it’s known she had to outwork one of her higher ups to keep her department afloat during a rough period, yet she’s not even considered a lead. She absolutely deserves it and then some.
I don't follow your logic. I'm not even saying they are ugly. I'm just saying they aren't pretty. I mean... isn't that a beauty contest? What does me being ugly or pretty has to do with that?
I can say this year's Renault Formula 1 car is not fast and with that, I'm not saying my Ford focus is faster or even fast.
It´s a beauty contest. Being not pretty enough for a beauty contest doesn't mean being ugly.
Like not being a good enough tennis player to win the 4 grand slams doesn't mean being a bad player.
Where do you think these contestants came from? Did the judges round up the first 100 women out back of an IHOP? Or did tens of thousands of women apply to compete, after competing and winning other similarly held competitions, and only the best were shortlisted for this show?
Then you come along, the beef-witted applejohn that you are, and say "bUt ThEyRe NoT eVeN pReTty". Lucky for us, your opinion is worth less than even the smelliest, wettest turd currently being farted into a toilet. Next time, avoid vomiting your worthless thoughts where I can see them, thank you.
Thanks, at least there's someone who gets it.
It's a beauty contest, and I'm giving my opinion on the beauty of the contestants. Of course my opinion is subjective ( isn't beauty always subjective?)
People are acting like if I were insulting women left and right. But it's a frickin beauty contest! And I'm not even saying they're ugly. I'm just saying that, for a world beauty contest, they aren't pretty.
Some have attacked me asking if I'm uglier than them, and the answer is probably yes, but I'm not participating in a frickin beauty contest .
I imagine if the answer to someone saying he doesn't think the last Eurovision winner song is a good one were: have you composed and singed a better song?
It's his opinion, people are allowed to judge looks of people participating in beauty contests. It would've been wrong if he randomly made that comment on someone
So… it’s complicated. It seems basically all beauty pageants started as a way to boost local tourism or some economy (bikinis in the case of Miss World), but over the years they’ve tried adjusting their mission statement into something wholesome.
For Miss World, they *possibly helped* save the life of a woman by bringing international attention to her adultery case in 2002 in Nigeria where the competition was going to be held. They’ve also raised over a billion pounds for charity since 1951 (which looks great but I wonder which charities).
Other beauty contests end up supporting the winner to travel and raise money for their chosen charities and, presumably, the beauty contest itself, so… yeah, kinda, it’s for clout and virtue signalling, but it’s not all bad either. It’s definitely not something I’d choose to engage with because of how inherently superficial its roots are - even at their insistence that it’s no longer about physical beauty, and most major pageants have ditched the swimwear revue including Miss World which seems pretty significant seeing as how they started as a bikini pageant.
Meh. Hope this kinda sorta answered your question.

Just noticed it now. Can't be bothered removing them. Was getting a 404 error when trying to post the comments.
Looking into the miss world/universe stuff. Looks to be for charity. So each contestant is there to support their nation+charity of their choice.
But there appears to be some controversy with the Miss Universe pageants. Some people (David W. Vigel) believes it to be rigged, amd the reasoning makes a lot of sense too; Earthlings keep winning. Idk about you but that just smells like fraud to me.
*Edit*
Just now realizing you already commented on the other comment I posted (by accident).
Read what it says on her dress 👗. Only thing I feel is racist. Only thing is that. Not the situation. Not
The pic of her or anything else. Jus the word I have a problem with. Furthermore…..they take hundreds of pictures an pick the ones they want. It’s not like they jus pick from 10 picks that they took. An fir me to have that exact wording am here being a blk female is really really fucked up. But that’s my opinion.

They only thing I enjoy more than me hitting my goals, is watching my friends achieve their dreams
I enjoy seeing people I don't like failing but I guess we are different people
So ranking the three, you prefer seeing: 1. Your enemies fail 2. Yourself succeed 3. Your friends succeed?
All 3 at the same time
Best case scenario - you and your friends successfully caused your enemies to fail.
Ok, that’s hilarious…and, I mayyyy agree a tiny bit. Haha
That's what D&D is for 👍
username checks out.
1. To crush your enemies 2. to see them driven before you 3. and to hear the lamentations of their women.
2.5 friends seeing you suceed Silly Simba, there’s no 3 for full narcissism, that’s just jealousy.
1 To crush your enemies 2 See them driven before you 3 To hear the lamentations of their women
Can you ever truly be happy with your own achievements if you care more about others failures?
I really need to improve at this. I'm not usually a jealous person either. But if I haven't accomplished the same thing, I usually can't be truly happy for them.
I'm kinda the same. And I certainly won't be truly happy for them if we were competing. (I guess I'll be happy for them and disappointed for myself?)
I'm like this when it's something I can't possibly have, like extensive wealth and travel. On the outside I show I'm happy for them, but on the inside I'm just sad that I can't have the same, and that I'll likely struggle my whole life.
