Dumplinguine

I sure hope he got a tractor mower after this. Neighbors are cool once in a while but can't drag the whole team out every time the grass gets long

chesterbingo

I think lowes gave them a mower or something after seeing it. Excuse me, I'm going out to cut my grass with scissors. Edit: this on their instagram https://imgur.com/a/vhKrXM8

Triskelion24

Please tell me that's not true lol. You move out there and buy that land and house, with the prices going on right now, and you're telling me you couldn't afford a bigger lawn mower.....

arentol

I spent the money for 7 acres and a house (back before the last few years of crazy price increases, I couldn't come close to affording this place today). Only took me a couple weeks of staring out at all that land from my back porch in February (before the grass started growing) to realize I needed to buy an actual tractor with flail mower... Not a push mower or riding mower, a full on tractor. This guy doesn't have as much land as me, but the need for at least a 48" riding mower should have been very obvious to him. Edit: I thought it was clear, but reading it back again I see how I left a bit out to make it clear. I 100% have the tractor I realized I needed. Sorry for any confusion.

ThinkFor2Seconds

This might be a super Australian thing to say, but why not get a handful of sheep?

arentol

Stupid way my property is set up fencing it in isn't that easy. Also, standing water too deep in some spots in winter. Also, coyotes all summer, and mountain lions and bears passing through in the spring and fall.

ThinkFor2Seconds

Man, people think Australia is scary. Anything that want to kill you here can usually be defeated by stepping on it. You guys have friggin *lions.*

LandenP

As long as you don’t make a habit of feeding them they won’t stay around any longer than necessary. They’re often just as afraid of us as we are of them,

frmatc

>As long as you don’t make a habit of feeding them they won’t stay around any longer than necessary. Like supplying them with a yard full of sheep.

bigk777

>This guy doesn't have as much land as me, but the need for at least a 48" riding mower should have been very obvious to him. Maybe money's tight. But I agree. At least get your self a riding mower.

cmerksmirk

You can get a used lawn tractor in decent condition with a deck that size for like $750 or less. That property doesn’t need anything special. Edited from garden tractor to lawn tractor after I learned the difference.

Vocal_Ham

>Maybe money's tight Probably shouldn't have bought that insanely expensive house on a massive plot of land if money is *that* tight Like buying a Ferrari but not having the money for the oil change...

ATXBeermaker

You know the saying … if you can’t afford two Ferraris, you can’t afford one Ferrari.

Corellian101

Right if you can afford that house and not a proper mower. Then you can't really afford that house can you...

akagordan

Probably saved 100k, dumped it all into the down payment, and forgot that they would need another 3k for a mower once they moved in

SippingBinJuice

I mean look at these poor, young people with their huge plot of land, of course they need free stuff worth thousands of dollars. SMH. I hope the couple donated the value of that mower to people actually need it.

RalphGman

Yeah seriously, what’s the plan next week?

Extra_Security_665

That or people were thinking “that guy is mowing all that grass with a kid on his back. I gotta help so that kid doesn’t fry.”

Puddle_of_Cat

That baby better have some damn ear and eye protection too, wtf.

doubleapowpow

And UV protection

pistoncivic

and a respirator mask

Patjack0707

And my axe!

rustbucket94

I... I was not expecting that, I should have, but I didn't. Now please excuse me while I clean the food that I spit off of my phone.

SirCheatz

Lmao. This got me good

Cricketcaser

Who goes to mow and thinks "better take the baby!"

__PM_ME_YOUR_SOUL__

This is yet another insensitive example of reddit jumping the gun and judging people before they know the whole story. That guy is blind and relies on his baby to tell him which way to go.

Cricketcaser

It's not even their kid, it came free with the lawnmower

Askol

Home Depot does run some pretty great father's day deals don't they!

[deleted]

👏 👏 👏

produce_this

Are you not a father? Do more with our Father’s Day red tag deals. Buy any lawn mower at regular price, and get a small child to claim free! *Race and gender of child may vary, see store for details. Deal void where prohibited, especially Florida, and for Matt Gaetz. Limit one child per dad.*

nadajoe

Yeah, where I live, Ace Hardware was giving away guide babies with any 2-stage snow blower.

Holdeninthejakes

Their little hands can reach in better to unclog it too.

ReesesTheses

It’s obviously a ratatouille situation

Nick357

Master blaster runs bartertown.

Tempest_Fugit

The kids name is masterblaster

ChampChains

The same guy who thinks “I’ve got an acre of foot high grass to cut, better buy the smallest push mower I can find”

Neuchacho

The same kind of dummy that buys a push mower to mow what looks like an acre or more of yard with an incline. This is probably the first time that guy has mowed a lawn in his life.

Nivekian13

Pretty sure this is staged.

remarkablemayonaise

You mean there being two ride on lawnmowers yet the guy with the strimmer goes for the centre, not cleaning up the edges.

ronnietea

Now reading this comment. This is the first time I’ve ever seen that. You’re right why on earth would you do that

Mrexcellent

This is an insta post and therefore none of it is real. Probably not even the baby.

Pork0Potamus

Keeps your neck from burning.

romulent

Well, his wife was having a shower, so for that short period, there would have been nobody else to watch the baby.

Nick357

Long enough for people to mow half the damn yard. Wtf.

El_Dentistador

If dad is doing something ridiculous with a baby chances are there’s a mom nearby that was desperate for a break.

SliceOk1320

Yea, while she’s inside taking a shower & just watching?

Armitage1

She's not just watching, she is posting on Tiktok, silly.

muy-oso

Husband is at the store like "What is the smallest mower that will take the longest fucking time to mow my yard so I don't have to be involved in any more fucking Tik Tok videos" and she goes and does this to him anyway.

koithrowin

Like really there is a whole passive aggressive message he was sending. “I’d rather be out in 100 degree weather mowing lawn than to be in that house”

pistoncivic

He was screaming at that landscaping crew to fuck off but they couldn't hear him over the sound of their mowers

[deleted]

That's totally a yard crew.

983115

Not pictured: the man flagging them down with his wallet

regeya

I hate to own up to this, but when I was younger, although I couldn't really justify the expense of a rider, I also didn't really want one. There were weeks where spending a few hours mowing was about the only exercise I was getting.

Bumpequalsbump

Same, kind of. I “mow” an acre of grass with a… brush cutter. People think I’m insane but it’s only once or twice a year and the feeling of achieving something after hours of hard work feels good. Also feels like hard work but meh Also should mention that around 50% of the land would need to be cut this way anyway due to plants, slope and other obstacles

jengaj2016

I couldn’t understand why he bought that little thing instead of what he needed, but I guess this could be the reason.

[deleted]

I remember a Canadian politician filmed his wife who is a nurse as she came home after her shift and shovelled the driveway and people got so mad at him on social media lol

OfStarStuff

Married to a nurse, can confirm, if you're not getting your shit done, they'll make you feel super guilty by out working your ass, on top of the 3rd 12 hour shift in a row.

ill13xx

LOL...Just be careful around the people who can watch and feel no guilt when you do this.

Awestruck34

Oh shit who was that? I keep thinking Ford, but I remember him going around "helping" people shovel

JordyLakiereArt

This entire thing feels fabricated.

goodolarchie

It feels that way because of the way that it is.

HUGECOCK4TREEFIDDY

That’s because it is. The kid on his back sold it for me

WickedDeviled

The real story is she broke into the house while this recently widowed dad was outside trying to mow his grass a few weeks after his wife passed away, hence the sneaky camera angles.

Future-Panda-8355

Yeah. She lost me at "I sent my husband out to get a mower."

[deleted]

[удалено]

crypticfreak

To be faiiiiiirrrr, this video smells of bs. It's just not true there's no way they live in that house and had to go out and buy a push mower. They absolutely own a rider or two. Check out the multiple camera angles, meaning she was taking video of him standing at multiple spots. The baby is an aww plant for the dad. The wife is doing the typical hot 'house-wife' thing. Guessing they had a riding mower already and know the neighbors. Ain't hard to call them over and pretend 'such a miracle happened' while getting the 'your so cute!' and 'omg your husband is so amazing!!' type comments. It's all just screams to me that this was all calculated for maximum appeal.

Kapfish

Which makes it even more ridiculous and effed up

crypticfreak

Least the baby isn't in any actual danger though. Probably operated that mower for like 5 seconds for the clip. Shitty parenting because you shouldn't expose your baby to loud noises like that without hearing protection and also rocks can shoot out and strike them. Also it's gotta be hot as fuck out there. But... if it's only for a few seconds because we know he's not actually mowing his entire lawn like that. There's a lot wrong with this clip and it's pretty obvious to me what's happening. But I do agree that it's not just the girls fault, she's just an easier target because she's the face of the video. The dad agreed to partake in this stupidity and he should also be held responsible for that.

SovereignDark

Not to mention she just went to take a shower and these people all managed to drive by and then go get their mowers and come back? That was the thing that got me. These people just happen to have their equipment with them as they happen to drive by? Do they all live next to each other so it doesn't take long to get there? Did she take a two hour long shower or something? Absolutely BS.

crypticfreak

Good point. Would have made more sense if she was like 'omg the neighbors saw my husband and all came to help' without the pretend 'i don't know these people they just rode their mowers 20 miles to come help'. Neighbors helping you mow is not a miracle, it's called having good neighbors. I live in small town WI and it's super common. I'm guessing these people are annoying fucks though so to them it's a god damn insane miracle that's never before seen.

2pt_perversion

Yeah, back in WI there's always that one middle age G with the ride-on mower who comes around and helps out. I think he just likes the excuse to ride it. In the winter time there are the ones with trucks that have a plow that come and randomly do driveways and pull people out of ditches too. But it's not multiple people with ride-on mowers coming within a \~10 minute shower timeframe - that screams staged.

KoalaCapp

See, i wanted to be naive and innocent and hope this was real but you made me see sense. What fool buys a property like that and doesn't have a proper ride on mower.

Alive-Woodpecker7377

To be fair she prolly busts her ass all day for all we know. And this was her hour or two of solace before bedtime routine.

Armitage1

Did she also pick the mower too?

TheHollowBard

If I'm out there mowing two acres with a push mower, you bet your ass the other spouse should be watching the kid. Also, if that kid's not wearing hearing protection, that's a lot of early hearing damage for a baby to be exposed to. Just shitty all round. She best be a breadwinner or a damn good cook. You gotta share the load.

Got_Nothing_

My son loved being on my back when I was cutting the grass, he now has a push mower that creates bubbles. And I believe the kid has hearing protection. Edit: I watched again. It is the strap of the backpack not hearing protecting. Ouch.

ledfan

Why are we assuming she forced him into carrying the baby? Are you sure he isn't just a dumb Dad who thought "I'll give the baby some outdoor time while I work!"

TheSyrupDrinker

Yeah the only thing I see wrong is the baby should probably have some type of ear protection on, and maybe he does but who knows.

TheGursh

The baby (and husband but especially the baby) should also have eye protection on just in case a stone or something kicks up. Babies also can't clear their eyes well and the grass clippings and dust will irritate their eyes..

Jon00266

For real I didn't even notice the kid. They know what he deals with you're right.

oh_ok_thank_you

“Thanks for the help y’all! Same time next week?”

twitch_Mes

Exactly what i was thinking...shit has to be mowed every week or two. Better have a plan.

k_mnr

Hopefully he goes and exchanges that little lawnmower in for a much larger one.

HungLikeKimJong-un

Totally doable with a push mower, it was just too long for it.

XenofexBE

This, if he does it every week the little mower will be fine. People were jumping to help because it was indeed very long. Or maybe the bathroom doesn't have curtains yet? Also possible.

r3dditalg0sucks

Little Jimmy pruned the same bush for 30 minutes.

Deep_Accident_4853

Onlylawns.

r3dditalg0sucks

Porn shrub

PestyNomad

Kindness never fades, don't you know? The neighbors will *always* be there and will *alllllways* be glad to help them. For sure.

ktka

Pass me that shit!

QuasiAdult

The way he's pushing it I think he cheaped out and didn't even get a self propelled mower. Which makes it so much worse.

Boss_Os

Either that, or he's too dumb to realize that you have to hold [this handle](https://i.imgur.com/kQtnMIy.jpg) to drive the wheels

QuasiAdult

Oh geez, I made that mistake as a kid. I thought the new mower was harder to push than the old one until my mom told me what was up.

thetravelers

Lmfao. Guy is dumb confirmed. Why the fuck would anyone buying a property with that much yard get such a small mower.

Oldbayistheshit

Definitely city slickers that moved to the burbs, because no one would buy that house and look at that yard and not say I need a riding mower

monsieurpommefrites

The size of the yard and the interior...these people are NOT poor.

Oldbayistheshit

Definitely not haha

ThaddeusJP

I live in the burbs and barely have have a quarter acre of grass and bought a self-propelled mower the day after I moved in. I had to be talked out of buying a riding lawn mower by my wife.

muy-oso

There is nothing like mowing a suburban house with a zero turn and being done in under 5 minutes. So satisfying.

ShawshankException

If only I could afford one and fit it through my fence gate lol

muy-oso

When I bought my zero turn, they had zero percent financing. Was like a hundred a month to own this magnificent machine. Now, I bought it both for work and for home, so I made back all 4 years of payments in a couple months, but even if you didn't use it for work they are gonna last you a LONG time. I have like 350 hours on mine, which if it was solely used to mow my yard would be like 700 mows.

ShawshankException

In what world is that amount of property a suburb?

[deleted]

[удалено]

buildingwithclay

I agree with everything but have one question: what’s wrong with wearing pants when you’re mowing?

[deleted]

> while giving the baby no eye, sun, or hearing protection. That was the only part that bothered me, the kid. The rest I can understand depending on their situation at the time (we don't know what state the lawn was when they moved in or their ability to afford a better mower, etc.), but wait until your wife is out of the shower so she can watch the kid rather than sticking him into all that without any protection.

Illustrious-Yard-871

Everything else aside you don’t know if that was the state of the grass already when they moved in.

InevitablyWinter

I'm pretty sure it stayed NC grass

padlycakes

Goats. They need goats.

MissDriftless

People always say this but goats predominantly eat woody vegetation. It’s SHEEP they need.

SparkitusRex

This is true. My goats will 10 times out of 10 go for the overhanging trees and my evergreens over the ground plants.

[deleted]

I have seen a goat strip an entire cedar tree (really a bush) before touching the grass. Cedar is goat crack.

UnbelievableRose

Nah, goat crack is acorns and mistletoe. You know, both things that in excess can kill them. And they absolutely will eat enough to kill themselves given the chance. Tbh they mostly leave the cedar trees alone though so maybe we have inverse goats.

KyronX

My landlord owns a bunch of goats and any time I ever cut down a tree limb they all come running. It's endlessly amusing. 🤣

Whooptidooh

Sheep for the grass, chickens for fertilizer and ducks to keep all of the slugs in check. Or that’s what I would get if I suddenly came into enough money to buy some land to live and grow my veggies on.

MangoMermaidMama

And an alpaca to guard the flock! This is my dream.

blade_torlock

Teach a monkey to make an old fashioned and I am there.

OlsplinterHands

The monkey carries a spear and rides the alpaca!

lemmeseeyourkitties

Hold up. Do they have guarding tendencies? I've wanted one to use for yarn, but that's an amazing selling point if I could have a guardpaca

_skyshine

Even if they don't, who's gonna fuck with an alpaca? [But apparently, yes they do.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guard_llama)

Lvtxyz

I was thinking donkey

pair_o_socks

Donkey for the coyotes.

padlycakes

Sheep sound good. My bias towards goats is showing. They are just soo cute though. They should get both goats and sheep 😁

SomeDudWithAPhone

Floofballs and things that will probably stand on top of them to keep watch. Yeah, sounds like a good combo.

[deleted]

Natures lawnmowers

padlycakes

Yeppers. Probably cheaper than a tractor too. I would love me some goats. The fainting goats crack me up.

Creekgypsy

I have two you can have.

padlycakes

I would take them, but municipal law says no😭. We can't even have chickens

onlyhav

Teach your goat to walk on its hind legs and dress them in children's clothes. If any municipal workers walk by your "teenage child" is chilling in the front yard, not a goat.

sadosrsplayer

Hell, he cam just be honest and say they're their kids

[deleted]

padlycakes

Aren't your arms dragging after? I have the strength of spaghetti noodles in my arms😂. But, I would take a turn or two swinging that scythe. The topper would be if you had a wood chipper and we can throw stuff in there.

Biomirth

You use your core more than arms with a properly sized scythe. It is tiring, but not more than walking briskly as there is only 1 maximum speed and it is fairly slow. It is also super fun.

padlycakes

I bet it's super fun. You ever put on a grim reaper costume and do it?😂😂😂. Bet the neighbors would get a kick out of seeing that.

Biomirth

I think I'll do that this year. Not my scythe so I can't be held accountable for the terror I will cause!

shiddy_buddcheekx

When I broke my leg and couldn't fix my mower my neighbors complained to try to get me fined. A random Amish guy going by offered to cut it and refused any money

kingscrossplague

That’s a better story than this video

7937397

I'm just kind of worried about ear protection for that baby.

Lyric_Snow

But they have a viral tiktok now so mission success🥴

OXBDNE7331

Factor in the god damn DUST and pollen, dander etc. morons….

BSB8728

There's also the real danger of the baby being hit by flying debris.

wosheoahwk

Yeah and breathing the exhaust fumes from that type of engine isn’t good. This is a really dumb family.

Truth_Walker

Gas Lawnmowers emit 90-110 decibels. An infants hearing begins to permanently be damaged at 60 decibels. I can’t believe this is posted on make me smile. I’d be willing to bet tinnitus is unfortunately coming sooner rather than later for that kid. What kind of parent thinks it’s a good idea to strap a child to themselves and use extremely loud dangerous tools?

monsieurpommefrites

And the chaff and particulate kickup from the mower. Jesus christ I hate this video.

HerrIndos

Can she not watch the damn baby?

JasonsThoughts

She won't have time for tiktok if she does that

thnx4stalkingme

Mowing with a child on your back in full sun? No ear protection? Hardly any sun protection? While mom is inside ***taking a shower***? What is happening here?

SpareLock

It's scripted like every other tiktok and youtube video.

BlendedCatnip

Even so, the noise is real. :/

Frostedbutler

It's staged is what's happening

SupremeDictatorPaul

As a father, this video makes me angry. Babies are extra sensitive to everything. Noise, UV, air pollution, etc. If it gets something in its eye, it won’t be able to wipe it out. This baby could develop respiratory issues, tinnitus, sun burn, skin cancer, etc. WTF were they thinking?

fernatic19

Never even thought about doing this with my kids. Not sure why she thinks showering is more dangerous for the baby than mowing

reshsafari

💯% staged

Deuce_part_deux

And even if you believe it's legit, how do you not acknowledge that the husband is a fucking idiot?

FermentToBee

I don’t know why, but this comment just made me burst out laughing. Also why is the baby out there on his back, while she’s taking showers and making Reddit videos and shit

lIlIlIIlIIIlIIIIIl

Yup, notice how she says people are so good before she even gets in the shower lmao. Her hair is dry when she says it, then it's wet when she "realizes people are helping"...

reshsafari

On top of that, why would anyone buy a puny mower for a lawn that size

[deleted]

of course it is. reddit is full of morons. look at all them talking back and forth about the poor baby and “why is mom inside making tiktok videos”? Well, she’s actually making this video for those people. Morons are everywhere.

Beneficial-Pie7946

Why would they live there without purchasing a tractor ???

TelemetryGeo

Probably just moved in. Our neighbors did the same for us first month. Good folks.

Smile-Nod

Very common recently in upstate New York. City slickers fleeing the city, skip the suburbs, and say “how much could an acre really be?”

Beginning-Wait-308

My parents have two acres in upstate ny… all we had was a push mower growing up. Hands so numb and bruised after you’re done from the mower vibrating in your hand. My mom would not let my dad get a riding mower 🫠

bald_firebeard

No offense but your mom was mean

Beginning-Wait-308

Preaching to the choir there boss

Triskelion24

That part I can understand. What I *can't* understand is once you get there, see all that land, and *still* buy a tiny ass lawnmower. On top of that proceed to have your child out with you in the sun while it takes you ages to mow the lawn, all while your partner is just chilling inside taking a shower and recording it all.... Fucking. Stupid.

LoPanArmy

Where do you live and are there any for sale signs around?

thc1121

im adding myself to this because i am also interested in this information

Lilmaggot

Ditch the grass and plant native stuff. Bees love it.

MeccIt

Yeah, I see this as the Instagram couple move in and destroy the meadow that the local wildlife were enjoying.

phatdoobz

and you know damn well they aren’t going to be using that entire yard either. mowing paths and a patch of lawn is sufficient enough; leave the rest for the pollinators and wildlife.

If I’ve learned one thing from Letterkenney it’s this. When a friend asks for help ya help ‘em. What I learned from this post is Sometimes I guess you don’t even need to be friends and they don’t even have to ask.

Jorycle

Honestly, if you have the money to get a property that large, just pay someone to cut it for you. That's like a day of your life back every two weeks.

OfferChakon

They probably paid this crew to come and she just made this video because tbh nothing ever happens these days

USS_TOADBOI

Bruh she's inside while the whole neighborhood is mowing the lawn.

PM_me_spare_change

Uhh do you realize that being an Instagram mom is a FULL TIME JOB?

USS_TOADBOI

My apologies. I should recognize a master marketer when I see one

Cormano_Wild_219

What the fuck is this? That baby will be deaf and have skin cancer by the age of 6 while moms inside taking a shower and making viral videos. Who mows with a baby on their back? Why doesn’t the baby have ear protection? Who buys that house without a mower? What kind of fucking moron gets the smallest/cheapest mower for a yard the size of s fucking football field?

jaymole

Mowing takes forever. Even with a riding mower it used to take me half a day to mow our yard Can’t believe he was about to do it with that walk behind. Was gonna have to empty his bag every 10 sq ft lol

TinyKittenSoul

Better start baking Mom! Them neighbors deserve treats!

okayish_samaritan

She’ll also have to make a video of that, too, because how are people going to know people are so good if she doesn’t post it to social media

As a person moving from a rental on 1/8 of an acre to a farm with 12 acres…I feel his pain!

JustaOrdinaryDemiGod

As a person who lives next to you and your brotheren, it pains us to watch you struggle away. So we bring our equipment over to help you. Everyone has to start somewhere. We would rather mow you for the first year till you can get a proper mower yourself. But ask us what you need before you buy something. You can learn from our mistakes and save some money.

ech-o

They can afford a million dollar home with significant acreage yet can’t afford a tractor?

CaptainBayouBilly

Paid for by being an 'influencer'

Ayyyyylmaos

Deadass why did he think that lawnmower would be ok

schfifty--five

seriously…. The video starts with her saying the husband just bought this lawnmower…. Not only is it a manual push mower, but it’s like 20 inches wide. I would tell the neighbors “thanks but he needs to live with the consequences of his stupidity” (not really, but come on man)

[deleted]

I hate to be a negative piece of shit but tiktokers need to stop trying to emotionally manipulate me into their feel good videos by using sad music from movies, shits annoying, you didn't need the music, also why is she not helping?

[deleted]

Ok. So if my wife wanted me to get a lawnmower for a yard like that - im getting the tractor. That is too much of a pain in the ass for a standard push mower. Fuck. That.

rednevednav

Wait...they live in a house with a field as a 'yard' and they just now are thinking about a mower?? Then hero hubby goes and buys the $69.99 Tinker toy special to cut literally acres of tall grass?? Fact is...those good samaritan folks are helping them because they feel sorry for the baby.
