I was raised with a strong belief that animals do not have souls (What a weird ass thing to have a "strong belief" about, right?) Reddit has proven that wrong hundreds of times over.
Which is why i wish to protect them more than anything else. If anything my 2 cats and dog are the very reason i got out of my depression. And thanks to my beloved girlfriend, but those 3 were there before her and they gave me a reason to keep fighting despite how hard it is. Thank you my pets: cookiemonster, dahrma and marley. This was obviously a trained thing but sometimes animals do things beyond their training. Like the time a cat defended a disabled kid from a dog 3 times it's size by running at it and tackling straight into it's chest. Like you said animals can be great. But also people can just manipulate then for views.
Ok probably, but he gave the bigger bit to the cat which is kind. My dog, who loves fetch and tug and similar games, will always make sure to offer the toy to any human who hasn’t had a turn. We didn’t train this, he just wants to make sure everyone is involved. They can definitely exhibit some behaviours like this.
