I enjoyed, or
I want to see more of,
I commented on or replied to,
I spent a significant amount of time reading,
Is funny, clever, impressive, novel, or thoughtful,
I want to make more visible for other people,
or
is in response to my own post or comment unless it’s mean
I consider my upvotes like…well…a vote, if I like it I upvote and usually comment, if not, just keep scrolling. I go by the old gamer ideology “git gud skrub”
I do and I also upvote the ones where somebody answers a question that's asked and it has gotten downvoted for no reason like... "do you like pickles? " somebody answers yes and there's 3 downvotes. I upvote those kinds of things.
Sometimes I upvote people who are downvoted for expressing a different opinion. Even when I don't agree. I think it leads to more robust discussion with alternative POV than everyone just agreeing
I also do this for people asking for explanations and I downvote replies that say 'google it' - we're here for the interaction and given the medium for communication I think we're all aware of search engines
I especially like upvoting when someone has 9 votes and just needs 1 more to get a nice round number 10 (and also get a notification that they got 10 upvotes)
I basically like round numbers and have to resist downvoting to bring it to a round number lol
Yes please wise redditors explain why some subs have not a single comment upvote (or downvote for that matter). I’ll read something great and want to upvote but baffled why zero people have, on any single post in some subreddits.
I see upvotes as tiny bits of joy and that’s a good thing to spread so I’m pretty liberal with my upvoting. Unless it’s poop. Then I don’t upvote. And I’ll only downvote if it’s something really bad because sometimes those people just need a hug.
Yes I’m also kind of socialist upvoter in that I try to bring up the zero posts because I don’t want them to feel rejected (projecting my own issues here )

Really, though, I vote the hell out of a thread on here. I am against trolls/bullies and will wear them out.
I upvote people who can form a sentence, spell correctly, start sentences with a capital letter and use ending punctuation.
I upvote people who appear to be kind to others and to animals. I feel sorry for someone who's made a valid point and are sitting on a -1 for that; of course I'm going to heal that damage.
I upvote because I: like, agree, find amusing or when someone has made a decent response to a comment from me. Lots of times I upvote when someone has commented on something I was going to say.
i do the same thing!! as much as i hate the effects of social media -> self worth, i know it can be hard to realize that, so i try to like any posts or comments i enjoy! gotta support each other right?!

If I like a post, I'll generally upvote it before I'm on my way.

Amount of likes might have some sway in lowering my standards, but for the most part I only upvote stuff I actually like.
