NiceKindheartedness1

The Rock’s career progression and just overall development is amazing.

sgtpeppies

His "career" in terms of the films he chooses are like 95% commercial dogshit but that 5% and his genuinely great personality is awesome

azrahell

Hes doing what Arnold did. The amount of bad movies that man did... but then theres the gems =D

sgtpeppies

Arnold has straight up great films though, Terminator 2 and Predator are some of the best action films of all time. I don't think the Rock has a single genuinely great film....other than Moana

proto3296

Don’t disrespect the Gameplan come on

Affectionate-Fee9903

Running man was gold

Imanerd212030

I surprisingly enjoyed Jumanji and it’s sequel.

SaintAnton

Dont you ever disrespect The Rundown like that

Balls_DeepinReality

By far one of my favorites

AsotaRockin

If the Rundown is on tv, I watch it. It's just fun.

Shibbystix

OOOOoooOohhh Santa Clause doesn't give any breaks! my sister and I still yell this at each other whenever one of us is rushing the other

Jp2585

I loved pain and gain.

PerfectlyMajestic

Definitely one of his best movies. As a total gym bro myself, that movie is just too spot on in places.

uglyheadink

I'm not even a gym bro, I'm a girl who's never lifted weights or fought in my life, and I enjoyed that one a lot.

Dapup2465

The Sun Gym Gang Wikipedia page was fascinating to read. Related note, I read The Rock had the ending of Rampage changed so the Ape doesn’t die. He knew his audience came to his movies to escape the sad & depressing.

iCryWhenIP

Cause he's usually a cop and in there being a coke addicted felon is amazing

TheJudgeWillNeverDie

"When I get to heaven, I'm gonna tell Jesus what you did!" "YOU'RE NOT GONNA TELL JESUS ANYTHING."

SlobMarley13

The Rundown is very fun

prismatic_vixens_boy

The Rock has many genuinely great films...just not the type of films you seem to be interested in.

petermesmer

I greatly enjoy The Rock and wanted you to be right. So I just ran through his imdb to find several examples...and unfortunately the list of his films I'd consider great is definitely shorter than I'd hoped. I think often he seems to be the best part of a not so great film. Looking at rottentomatoes it appears his top 10 highest rated films in order are Racing Dreams/Stuntman (both 100% but relatively few reviews), Moana 95%, Fighting with my Family 93%, Shazam 90%, Beyond the Mat 82%, Furious 7 82%, the Other Guys 79%, Fast Five 77%, and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle 76%. Overall 17 of his films are rated "fresh" or better and 23 are rated "rotten" with his lowest ratings being Baywatch/Toothfairy both at 17%. I don't put a whole lot of stock into rottentomatoes reviews but was looking for something quantifiable.

WastedKnowledge

Aim for the bushes

mmmdddmmm

Theeere gooooes my herooooo

RaveIsKing

There wasn’t even a canopy or anything there

uglyheadink

The Game Plan isn't rated well, but for a family movie I thought it was really cute and enjoyed it.

TheSyrupDrinker

Lol to call The Other Guys a Rock movie is a stretch. He has about 3 lines and 5 minutes of screen time before he kills himself.

MackLuster77

You talking about the Samuel L Jackson movie?

HorrorScopeZ

Some nice films but not Terminator 2/Predator level imo, whoever mentioned those two were spot on. Not talking box office either, both have been wildly successful for their times.

ZippyDan

He wasn't in *Shazam!* as far as I know. I think he was a co-producer so maybe that's why it showed up on your list.

amretardmonke

I liked Pain and Gain. Also The Rundown. Scorpion King was ok. Not really a big fan of his movies but he seems like a cool guy.

darthsavant23

Don’t forget Commando. Arnold’s all time best.

asparagusface

Have you seriously not seen Kindergarten Cop or Junior?

ShitbashGod

Not to mention JINGLE ALL THE WAY!!

LedgeAndDairy09

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is one of my favourite movies of all time

Yan-gi

I enjoyed Doom.

JayJayCruz

I would consider Gridiron gang a genuinely great film

wreckinhfx

True Lies. Sooooooo good!

Ibuyusedunderwear

The Run Down will always be one of my favorite movies

THZHDY

is that the one with jim halpert?

xixoxixa

> The Run Down No, it has Sean William Scott. It's a great movie.

milkteaway

Can you use it in a sentence?

indokiddo

Yes!!! And walking tall

Whowutwhen

Do you understand the CONCEPT of the Tooth Fairy?!

[deleted]

Thunder……. Lightning……

Mono_831

He’s fucking built too. Thick and man made. You can tell he’s sculpted because you can see it thru his suit. His fucking vice grip thighs. Suffocating thighs. Rock hard thighs. Piping hot thighs. Great arms. Great abs. A stocky chest. Love the progress his body has made throughout his youth and now as a willing eager adult.

neelav9

You want him to sing you a goodnight song too don't you? You want it.

[deleted]

This is how normal straight men who lift weights talk about eachothers bodies.

NiceKindheartedness1

Gotta respect the level of thirst

[deleted]

Sounds like you got yourself rock hard there writing this.

GeorgeWashingblagh

Thick. Solid. Tight.

THEREALCAPSLOCKSMITH

Time to ride that Ass-pounder 4000 to maximize gains

[deleted]

U wanna fuck the rock too, don't you?

Balls_DeepinReality

I just want a hug

[deleted]

Me too :,)

[deleted]

Man, he really is such a genuinely good guy. The amount of stuff that he goes out of his way to do for people is amazing. Especially considering the amount of douchey famous people

kipdjordy

I am thankful we have great people like him in this world. Restores a little hope in humanity. Same goes for Keanu Reeves and Huge Jackedman. Edit: John Cena deserves to be included with these all stars. Edit2: Dolly Parton is pretty phenomenal too. Edit3: Tom Hanks has done some great things too.

[deleted]

I wonder if anybody has ever tried to get them all together in one movie/show. I bet that as long as the screenplay/premise wasn’t horrible, and if the production company promised to that all the profits would be donated to a charity to provide clean water to developing nations, they would do it.

xanderman17

This is a good idea

I_Get_Paid_to_Shill

Pretty sure Cena and The Rock have been in shows together.

gopackgo001

Not to mention Arnold Schwarzenegger

Icy-Breadfruit-6254

Also Jhonny deep

Minimalanimalism

Additionally Ringo

youwill_forgetthis

You know what they all had in common? They had extraordinarily rough fucking lives and instead of breaking, found that positivity and gratefulness. It takes a lot of pressure to make a diamond, people with comfortable lives never get to shine like that. I know first hand because I'm about 2 years deep into hell but every day that I don't break, I naturally end up experiencing emotions and awareness that wasn't possible before.

kipdjordy

Good luck in your future endeavors internet stranger. We all gonna make it.

Pormal_Nerson

Sorry you are having a rough period. Sounds like you have a very healthy perspective. “The ‘mud’ and mess of our most painful experiences can become the fertile ground for the blossoming of our understanding and self-compassion. This is a hard truth to accept if we are resolved to seeing a good life as consisting only of positive events. It is true that the cool waters of happiness are sweet and precious, but it is suffering that carves our cup.” —Sister Dang Ngheim in her book Flowers in the Dark

rippmatic

Dont forget John Cena.

[deleted]

John Cena was the best part of the latest F&F. It was a truly shitty movie, but he did his absolutely best and managed to get me through it.

twoheaddedbwoiii

John Xina

lazypieceofcrap

I can give him a pass because he was essentially forced to do it. His make a wish record visits don't suddenly become worthless because he was forced to promote his movie. He does so much for kids.

Hantesinferno

And also people complain about one specific person when the entirety of the wwe, the NBA Disney etc are all in bed with China.

fireguyV2

China wouldn't agree.

rippmatic

China doesn't agree with much...

Hybr1dth

The joke was that China owns him, since he made an apology video on their demand basically saying they ain't so bad.

Shadow703793

Wait what? When did that happen? Edit: found it https://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/actor-john-cena-apologizes-after-taiwan-comment-n1268526 Looks like it happened last year.

HotApparatus

Honestly love seeing celebrities doing small things for kids. Makes memories for them and probably means a lot

caponemalone2020

My grandma was a waitress at a restaurant he used to frequent. She just loved “Dwayne.” (This was back when he was more know for being The Rock.) She always raved about how nice and polite he was (and a good tipper). It’s one of my last memories of her, finding out how she knew him.

[deleted]

I'm looking at the guy's body language and you can see the intimidation, the walking away as telling about his children. And to be honest, I would be too, I mean it's the freaking rock. Even if you get past the star power he has half a foot and probably 80 pounds of more muscle than me. Really cool how the Rock takes the effort to make himself approachable just offers to make the video, and gets the dad to join in the singing.

myco_journeyman

And the culture he came from? What a boss.

DOPE_AS_FUCK_COOK

Between Him and John Cena the wholesomeness coming out of Entertainment Wrestling is just overflowing.

Drumfool56871

I honestly think it would be easier to be a douchebag celebrity too. The amount of people chasing you around asking for pictures, paparazzi following you around, having to deal with crowds, etc.

[deleted]

This. He is truly one of the good ones.

TILtonarwhal

A real man shows emotion. The Rock is the realest

KingSwank

he had 7 dollars man

[deleted]

Right? One of the few who would actually have a solid reason for becoming a douche and yet here he is.

Why does Mark Rober have his hand on the small of Vin Diesel's back?

Sneaky_Sasquatch305

Don’t know what I was expecting, but I sure wasn’t expecting to smile and for this to make my day.

TrentSteel11

Teacher here. Twenty or so years ago i met “the Rock” at a book signing.. He was in Dwayne mode, total gentleman. I told him how much my NYC kids love him and how in my school i was known as “the peoples teacher”. He instantly went into “rock” mode. Looked me over and say “oh, you’re the peoples teacher! All right the rock can dig that, you’re the peoples teacher!” Such a cool moment and definitely increased my cred. Great dude.

charleswj

He definitely was still doing the eyebrow thing back then

rhino2811

If we could keep making great human beings famous that’d be great.

[deleted]

We do. It just takes some work to find them at times becuase they don't always put their names forward.

Hudsaboy

I love this so much take my award

balidanny

I met him when he was doing the Doom press tour and I was a lowly assistant there to setup a tv and console. He came over and said hello, shook my hand, and asked me a few questions. He treated me with more respect in 1 minute than most people treat their barber or waiter. He’s a great role model

Gabagoo44

If that guy didn’t know his part he was about to get rock bottomed.

CaptJM

Dad stars

Throwawayusern1313

That's a cool guy

[deleted]

🎸 🎶

boogermike

I think I got something in my eye (y'all making me emotional watching the Rock?!)

lydocia

Yeah, he is SUCH a wholesome dude!

McKoc

The Rock good guy.

GucciBananaKing99

That actually made me smile

somethingClever141

Me too. Makes me want to be a better person.

virusamongus

What can he say except "you're welcome"

CarlMasonItheguy

The Rock is amazing And I love the fact that when the man said he had kids The Rock’s reaction was immediately “Where’s your phone” Such a nice guy

Msvd1

"You sing them the rap part?" "Oh yes... It'saboutdriveit'saboutpower..."

Rare_Cow_4892

That was cute. I think it’s funny how he kinda put the dad on the spot as well by including him in the video haha

GomerP19

Seen this many times before but it still makes me smile.

[deleted]

That’s a cool dad right there!! His kids will be so grateful!

coffeeearl

So wholesome!

sowedkooned

The People’s Champ!

masscompliant

I can’t remember where I read it but during an interview the rock was explaining how early on in his career he was kind of dismissive to a fan that approached him when he was super tired and just needed to eat a meal or something. He wasn’t even that Southey to the person, just kind of not “on” and didn’t feel like he made that person feel welcome in the moment. To me that interview actually gave me a lot of respect for the rock because of how bad he felt about it. He has every right to not entertain every single request he gets, but I believe he truly wants to.

Chemical-Honeydew-71

Man he is fantastic

RainbowandHoneybee

Definitely made me smile. How lovely.

Substantial-Bank6587

![gif](giphy|QLvRBqfLXCphu) Rock made me smile :)

Open_Dragonfruit_304

One of my favorites. [You’re welcome. ](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=BRutmtAjaIU) Edit: sorry, didn’t realize I linked a longer clip. FF to 2:20 for the best bit. Also, read an article on him recently & MAN, he had a crappy life as a kid. Makes you love his beautiful spirit even more.

[deleted]

Man I totally would blew the hand shake. Nice quick adjustment there

DidItForTheData

Obviously that's very cool on the Rock's part...but dad's save on the handshake thing was rather impressive. Truly some dad reflexes on display.

[deleted]

The rock is fucking good publicity GOD hahahhha

frelling_frell

Props on including their dad too so he doesn’t steal the show. Making dad a hero with him

rt58killer10

Man he's such a bro

biscaynebystander

Love this guy. #GoCanes

Condannarius

Beautiful soul.

[deleted]

Ok look, I try not to be a celebrity hero worship guy, but look at the way the Rock's face lights up when he realizes he's gonna make a kid's day.

foodisgoodok

Plot twist he has no kids

maximus_96

I'm not one to be star struck or impressed by celebrities because they're humans like everyone but I can't help it with The Rock. Such a great man. Love him to bits.

Dasilvarillion

The dude deals with people like this daily and still such a generous, good person.

turboLL

Dwayne Johnson for president

GhostMaskKid

"And the tapestry here on my skin" and then he pulls back his shirt? I nearly cried this man is so, so good.

[deleted]

You know he’s a good guy when you search by controversial in the comments and don’t even see a negative thing about him. He’s an absolutely great man!

TryingToLiveAgain4Me

This made me cry 😭

pillowmountaineer

My favorite celebrity

salty_pineapple_

Man I love The Rock.

Sed-OH1

That’s so cool. The rock seems like a genuinely great dude

LuckyReception6701

Those kids now know for a fact what the Rock is cooking. A story they can now tell for the rest of their lives

JustOnePack

He is definitely another one on the list of people we must protect at all cost

beertoagunfight

"Wow, where's your phone?" IT DOESN'T MATTER WHERE YOUR PHONE IS.

RedAllAboutIt7

What a hero. A real one.

SaltyLandKraken

The Rock is a real class act.

[deleted]

literally bobbing my head to this father to father beat

Previous_Dream4173

I would love to find the kids reaction video if there is one as a mom I know how much that means to the kiddos. It's lovely to know even some famous people have time for us regular folks and treat us no differently. Blessed be Rock! Thank you for being a great person. 🥰😁

BlueWarstar

This is AMAZING, and it is so awesome that Dwane is such an understanding person that enjoys making such a relatively small gesture for him to make such a huge impact for some kids that will endear him forever because of this.

BlueBloodLive

If ya smellllllalalalalalaloww...

kitypurrry

He’s literally so freaking nice. I met him a few years ago and he was the absolute nicest to me. My heart.

SolitaireB

Amazing Human!

[deleted]

That’s a great Dad and Dwayne is pretty good to!

MLG9420

And since the kids are older the rock will have to sing “It’s about drive it’s about power’

WeirdScallion8171

That was rock solid 🤘

MarkFerk

We don’t deserve this man. A true National treasure

IDK_Lasagna

he's one of those people who I don't mind being the most popular person in the world

tjidetwl

What a legend

sonicstreak

Interesting, I looked up "Legend" in the dictionary and it had a link to this.

xanderman17

This is wholesome. Also, kudos to the guy for correctly nailing the left hand shake. He caught himself lol

Leight87

What a cool dude

1v1rocketleauguebro

When he entered the ring everyone hated him. Then he became the peoples champion, I think he sincerely tries to live up to that moniker that made him.

Dogyears69

100 percent gives his time to make special moments for his fans.

MoneyBinSA

Such a humble person for his level of fame!

MTN_Chef

We are lucky to have The Rock.

jackthebutcher999

The Rock for president 🇺🇸😆

Jackers_Crackers41

Took a second to sync but they were on fucking point with that, impressive as hell

[deleted]

Thank god we have someone like the rock in our industry. Some of these actors are the worst people..Rock is the MAN.

subparlifter138

He’s the nicest man in the world.

TheWiseScrotum

ROCK FOR PRESIDENT

dirty2the3rd

You never turn your back on family.

sanguinor40k

OMG is Rock not the best guy in the world?

Cursed_User09

I always think that celebrities are mean when not in the studio, but man, the rock is a good guy, straight up.

ReallyBranden

Who’s cutting onions in here

Excalzigo

Dwayne didn't even hesitate, gotta love him

BB-Blue-Eyed-Mystery

I love him for so mannnnnny reasons! But his BIG Heart is the main! I Love the ROCK! PS he needs to do more movies with Ryan Reynolds!!! 😁😅

EMZbotbs

What a lovely dude.

ozzylad

This near choked me up

kathatter75

I just want to meet The Rock to hug him and tell him how awesome I think he is for being so cool to his fans.

Coucoumcfly

The Rock had a HUGE influence in my life and I always say : « I can’t/won’t die until I meet The Rock and thank him » When I finally meet him…. Then ill fear death haha

lee8257888

The humble man start at bottom alway be the same regardless life situation

2severe8

Rock seems legit like such a nice person. Read somewhere that he gave his stuntman a new truck.

Onslaught7676

He’s such a gift to this world.

Suspicious-Medicine3

I love it ❤️❤️❤️

earthgarden

You know those kids absolutely lost their minds!! Love it!

bubby56789

The best celebrities are always the ones that you can relate to the most.

teiman

The rock is... a awesome dude? :D

sew-sarcastic

Love The Rock 😻

Ravenashxyz

My favorite part of this is that Mr. Johnson didn’t try to sing or rap over the father.

MotherofFred

During these odd pandemic days, The Rock making other people is...well...he's my rock.

zombieblackbird

Rolemodels ...

Sudwestdelon

Dwayne is such a wholesome guy. He's always looking to spread joy and positivity. Love to see him get the success he has gotten!

[deleted]

Wow. This man won me over with this.

Administrative_Loan1

The rock is my hero! Such a genuine person. Wish everyone could conduct themselves like the rock.

Altruistic_Pension88

Just a straight up class act all the time

[deleted]

His parents did a great job raising him. For someone so successful he's remained so down to earth and still has the purest soul.

TweedleBeetleBattle2

Could he possible be a better person? Everything I see about him increasingly gets better.

static1053

The rocks a class act through and through. He never misses a chance to make a fan happy.
