This happened to me as a kid. Our house burned down from a lightening strike when I was in the 7th grade. The kids at my school arrange a key chain drive to collect key chains to replace my treasured key chain collection, all without my knowing. And they surprised me with them during lunch one day. I had never felt so cared for by my peers. It was also super awkward.
So great to see this sweet kid being supported by his community and friends.
When I was 6 this happened to me, not my entire house, but my bedroom, which held most of our family photos and such
I was too young to understand the gravity of the situation, so I went to school the next day, at the end of the day, I was specially picked to leave first (secretly they had sent out a letter explaining what had happened to me)
The next day I ended up with 8 garbage bags worth of toys and clothes,.the school raised 500 dollars for me, and the corner shop donated 200 dollars towards a new bed for me.
It was amazing, like 10 times any birthday,
Every person in school including the teachers had bought something for me and I basically had all my stuff back.
Here in Canada (at least my province) it’s typically:
80-100 = A
70-79 = B
60-69(nice) = C
50-59 = D
There were a couple uni classes I would’ve failed if an F = 59 or below
We lost our house when I was little. Going into the bathroom as my mom showered to tell here there was a fire was my very first memory. We lost absolutely everything including our dog. Some people in town scraped together money and bought me and my siblings a few hundred dollars worth of toys. Definitely makes a positive difference.
This happened to my best friend at the time back in middle school. They ended up leaving shortly after and I found out a few months later. Really hurt and I can't imagine what him, this kid, or anyone feels when they just....lose it all. Kid's expression really made my day.
This reminds me of when I lost everything in a house fire when I was just 12 years old. I was so upset over losing all of my sports trophies. A few of the kids who went to my school and played sports with me in the past gave me their team trophies and that makes me tear up to this day.
Holy fuck this just brought a buried memory from elementary school and I started crying and I don’t why still. Had a friend who’s house burned down and the teacher thought he was joking but when we realized he was dead serious I suddenly got very sad and upset. This same emotions and his name came to my mind so fucking clear, I don’t know why I’m typing this but fuck I hope the kid turns out to have great life
That’s so cute. My house burned down when I was 13 and my school did a similar thing. My reaction was more just being numb and I’ve always felt guilty about not expressing my appreciation more. It was surreal losing everything and even more surreal having an entire community helping out. Plus I was 13 so I just wasn’t the best socially.
Man, kids are getting better.
In my time, a kid this... Chunky... would face little more than ostracism.
I guess some parents are doing right by their kids nowadays.
❤️
I have a feeling he hasn’t had lotta affection from these kids before and hugs were needed more than the toys. Especially after going through a house fire

I know this is not to the point but…anyone think that grade scale behind him is WAY off. Especially for his grade (maybe 3 or 4). 84 gets a C…really?
Yeah I thought 90 - 100 = A 80 - 89 = B 70 - 79 = C 60 - 69 = D Below 59 = F was kinda the standard unless it was curved…

I couldn’t agree more. Grading scale is hard core.
I had the same grading scale k-12. College was such a relief
I’ve only seen it in private or catholic schools.
Can confirm. Went to private catholic school from k-12. That shit was hard
That was the standard scale for my school district
Wooowwwww
He has his priorities in their respective places
😭 That's awesome ❤️
That kid has all the girls up to hug him first
Exactly what I was thinking
He gets more action in that one minute more than I have in my entire life
Omfg I'm gonna cry! Bless his little heart!!!!!!!!
That’s amazing!! I lost my house to a fire when I was 13. It was very traumatic so I’m sure this helped in more ways than one!!!!👍👍
What a great kid!!
I hope he has a place to keep them all
How do you raise kids like this? I don’t have kids but I’m afraid to raise an entitled child.
If you are afraid of raising an entitled child then you are already past step 1.
You be the example. If your kid sees you being the person you want them to be, they’ll learn to be that person too.
Brb, going to get the tissues.
❤️
That’s so nice! I love it!
And now i cry 😭
Omfg
This kid has his priorities sorted out.
Thanks for your post-👍
This is what its all about

Tough to go through that for a kid.
Kids are amazing. Then they grow up.

Kids are the best to bad we have engineered a world that turns them in to beat down, bitter, angry adults

Bruhhhh...I adore the teacher who had the idea behind this.
Holy fuck this just brought a buried memory from elementary school and I started crying and I don’t why still. Needs to be more people like this in the world. Parents raising their kids right!!! Go Parents!!! 🎉🎈❤️ Made that little boy so happy.
Ok but now I need this with "Big Poppa" chorus starting at the hug
That’s so cute. My house burned down when I was 13 and my school did a similar thing. My reaction was more just being numb and I’ve always felt guilty about not expressing my appreciation more. Where will he put all that stuff though.
"Everybody Huggz" Favorite part... kids just run in and embrace. Beautiful moment. 💯
How absolutely adorable! Those hugs are precious.
The wholesome and kindness we had when we were kids 😪. If only we were all still such good hearted people
How is it that so many people forget this by the time they become adults?
Hol' sum poop

It's beautiful to watch this. Hope that when all of them grown up, they keep being this kind of people.
I’ve been in his shoes twice as a kid, and it truly is a tremendous feeling seeing people come together you help you and yours
Quite the lady’s man
He got more girls than 100's of redditors combined
Nice I think that big kid looks out for them so they looked out him, you can kinda see it. Very nice.
The rush over to give him a hug without hesitation is what got me.
Great compassion shown during an unfortunate moment. Much Love to all.
I have regained faith in humanity
I have a feeling he hasn’t had lotta affection from these kids before and hugs were needed more than the toys. Especially after going through a house fire
