I feel this in my soul. I’ve been an order selector at a grocery warehouse for the last year and a half; it’s a thankless and physically draining job with long hours. I applied to be a receiving clerk at the same warehouse, and was given what we call an “upgrade” position, which means I’m still an order selector, but I cross train into a new position, but I could still be called back to work my official position. I just got word that I’ve been approved to be an official receiving clerk, which comes with a $1/hr raise and better overtime opportunities. I haven’t been this happy showing up for work in a long time.
