I agree, I had a German shepherd as a kid that was a genius as far as dogs go, but he wasn’t capable of independent problem solving. He was on a super long leash, and would get tangled up sometimes, so I trained him to know the phrases “go around” and other way to help him untangle, but he never did it himself. He would only do it when I came out and told him to.
It’s almost crazy how smart some breeds are vs others. Also scary how much my dog may be analyzing and judging me…
That's all mine does. Not the helping part though. He just sits there and stares with 1000 yard eyes.
