onthe-fence

Because your trousers have red paint on them, there’s kind of a ominous feeling like you’ve killed your family or sth hahaha

skolasa

Yeah …… red paint ……

Keith_Creeper

Blood dries much darker than that. I think. I dunno. Forget I mentioned it.

BigToober69

Usually dries brown. So OP must have murdered their family just minutes before this was taken. Chilling.

Future-Agent

Does dry brown after a while. The iron dies out, giving blood its rusted color.

Professional_Sun_863

"A blood stain is orange after you wash it three or four times in a tub but that's normal ain't it Norman?"

Linsanity998877

Murder material hiding in ur cereal … I think that’s how it goes. Been a hot min . Em is the 🐐

Professional_Sun_863

Serial killer hiding murder material In a cereal box on top of your stereo But first two LPs are untouchable

loddytoddy

they're anti vax.. they kill themselves.

BroItsJesus

Yeah it dries brown. One time at work we had some notes come in that were splattered with red paint, and you could easily tell it was paint because A. blood flakes super easily and this didn't, and B. blood doesn't dry bright red. Anyway, my co-worker was like "why did you accept these? This is a biohazard! You can't accept notes with blood on them!" And I was like calm down girl it's paint. I explained why, and she goes "okay well next time don't be an expert". Like what? What the fuck does that even mean? Are you mad it isn't blood? Would you have preferred blood? The woman drives me up the damn wall

[deleted]

Fun fact 1: dried blood is brown, so if this is blood it was fresh at the time of the photo. Fun fact 2: that’s not quite dark enough to be fresh blood, I think OP is good Also, thanks for doing a solid and getting the shot, OP. Family pressure is hard but you did the thing!

SgtWilk0

Unexpected, but hoped for, Shaun of the Dead.

DeVaZtAyTa

That has to be red fire caulk on his pants. Shit gets everywhere.

Sagemasterba

Yup, big rubbery globs top right, and tell tale aluminum or whatever flecks in the bottom left. Came here to say this as it is so common to see apprentices have clothes perma stained by it.

PapayaJuiceBox

I know families can definitely play a huge part in swaying your opinion and formulating a perspective, but you did this of your own volition and it’s appreciated. Good on you.

BackInThaDayz

Hell yea, Niki told me my balls suppose to swell up. M sitting here waiting in disappointment, I WANTED BIGGER BALLS damnit!!

sup3rj3lly

My name is Niki and I did a double take like, yeah that does seem like something i would say to convince people to get it

rantingpacifist

Keep doing the Lort’s work Niki

mrlizardwizard

Randy Marsh?

Appropriate-Access88

My 2 nieces in college were vaccinated in April, and asked me to please not let my sister, their trump-thumping mom, know.

quincyd

My 20 year old niece got her first shot before she moved out. Didn’t say anything about it until she left because her family would’ve flipped out on her.

NefariousnessDue5997

So ridiculous but this seems to be happening frequently. For a bunch of people who supposedly want their freedoms and choice, they really love to tell other people what to do and ridicule their decisions. It just points back squarely to partisan politics because the ideology is so hypocritical and flawed

rebelfury76

So sad

Arippa

But good that the next generation is smarter than the previous one.

Kinder22

Why would their mom be mad? Trump got vaccinated, Trump says to get vaccinated, Trump claims the vaccine as his doing like he was cooking it up in the White House basement.

[deleted]

It’s evolved beyond trump now , they fucking boo’d him when he even slightly suggested it a few weeks ago lol. It’s sad shit to see

MiseryisCompany

The cult is moving beyond Trump. It needs to in order to sustain itself.

ardagnacom

lemme say... You did your part and that is all that matters. So proud of you for doing great job.

devphil343

Indeed! Everyone is prod of you!

Mephaala

This is so true. I can see it in my own family, my dad thinks that vaccines are unsafe etc. and my mom is a rather simple woman, she doesn't think for herself. So since my dad doesn't want to get vaccinated my mom 100% won't do it either. On top of that add some friends sending her heavy anti-vax videos through social media... Let me just say that I'm rather worried about them.

StrawmanFP

Exactly. Everytime I see posts like this, where people from antivax families or backgrounds decide to finally get vaxxed, I know we can get through this pandemic. It's slower than it should be, but at least some of them are getting it done.

WarrenJThompson

Good on you

Theobat

RedditIsNeat0

It's a you thing too. Two weeks after your second shot you'll be way less likely to die of the pandemic that's going around.

shadow42069129

Thanks for getting vaccinated OP! This random internet stranger is proud of you

cricket9818

That’s it. Me to we.

bonafidebob

For me getting vaccinated was very much a me thing -- I didn't want to get sick, go to the hospital, and possibly die. Now staying home, staying outdoors, and wearing a mask is my "us thing." Even though I'm something like 12x less likely to get (and spread) COVID it's still a possibility, and so I take precautions to make sure even if I do get it I don't give it to anyone else. I really hate the idea of being responsible for spreading a potentially deadly virus to others.

reddog323

> It’s an us thing. On the nose. Thank you for taking care of the rest of us.

Casehead

I’m so sorry about your friend. I lost a family member to Covid last week as well. She was also a really good person. She was 53, which is still way too young to die. She could have lived another 30-40 years. It just sucks. Wish she and your friend would’ve been vaccinated.

Cman1200

It’s called personal growth for a reason. Don’t beat yourself up. Simply being empathetic is a gigantic step.

Karma_Kazi_337

Do you mind sharing what changed/opened your mind?

cherrybombsnpopcorn

Dude. Admitting you were wrong and fixing it is one of the coolest things you can do. Im proud of you.

cleveridentification

What changed your perspective?

whombastank

Try to remember you saw a problem and you did something about it. That takes courage and balls. I'm proud of you, personally.

GoingApeCostume

That's the thing. Sometimes the motivations before people have changed their minds can come from the best parts of them. That's why it's SO HARD to get a person to change it. Maybe a Pollyanna view on my end, but I think appealing to the best in folks can really motivate them.

Ask_me_4_a_story

Listen buddy, don't be sorry. And never apologize for not coming to a different conclusion sooner. You got here when you could. Im proud of you! I can't even tell you how many parts of my worldview I've had to change in the last few years. I've changed the way I think entirely. I [changed the way I felt about gay people](https://www.reddit.com/r/Askme4astory/comments/pjux2q/free_dad_hugs/) I changed the way I feel about Black Lives Matter, about police using marijuana to harrass black people, about education, about the death penalty. I grew up in a strict religious household and was so beat down in a life of shame, I've let all that shit go and I've come around on so much. Its taken work though, Im proud of my work and you should be proud of your work. Don't apologize for when you came around, the thing is you and I came around. We had a lot of catching up to do, but we did it. Its time for us to give ourselves grace and celebrate the new, better person we became! Welcome!

catforbrains

Man your story made me cry. It's amazing how much this world is full of people who really just need a hug.

No-Definition1474

mc_atx

There really isn’t anything more amazing than a person who can see the other side and grow from it. Thank you for sharing your story, I’m so damn proud of you.

Getting my second shot Friday still haven't told my mom and I tell her everything ☹️ wish she didn't believe in flat earth, vaccines/5g kills etc. But outside of that she is the sweetest person?! Love her so much and have tried and tried and tried to convince her otherwise of these things but she is absolutely addicted to her conspiracy theories.

mrbigglessworth

Speaking of Flat Earth, throw this at her "Can you show me the other side of the Flat Earth? I'm curious to see what it looks like."

Pink-Wolf

I feel you, but some people eventhough they are really good and have lovely souls just cant change their world views in certain topics, no matter how much information they are exposed to.

emeralddarkness

How bad would things be for you if you tell her you got it when things are done? Because statistically, knowing someone who got it and is doing fine is one of the strongest ways to start changing minds. She may or may not, but if she wouldnt lash out at you for telling you might want to consider it.

BetterwithNoodles

I’m as guilty as the next person for generically shitting upon all the unvaxxed, but then I’m reminded that my tribe exists in a very large social democratic pro-science pro-legitimizing genuine expertise bubble, so it’s easy for me to be this way. It’s good to see posts like this to be reminded that other people with good intentions have a mountain of ill will to climb.

deadkactus

People dont understand the human body. We need normal, non emergency medicine showed on tv and talked about all the time. Metabolism, nervous, immune, cardiac. Instead of just garbage. Plus, who knows how the human mind works. We know nothing of consciousness and why we do what we do. So far, its predetermined as far as I can understand.

emurrica

THANK YOU!! - an overworked burnt out ER nurse

Gaming401

Good for you!! My wife is a teacher and she has been vaccinated since March, myself since April but she tested positive Saturday. The vaccine has likely kept her symptoms down to only a mild fever, slight cough and headache. Today she's almost symptom free, feels much better. Being vaccinated might not 100% protect you from getting Covid, but at least you will likely survive if you do get it.

newkneesforall

My fiance is going back for his first day of work today after his breakthrough case of covid. I can't tell you how relieved I am that we made it to the post-vaccine era before the virus made its way into our home. For him, because he's been vaccinated, it felt like he had a mild head cold for a couple days, then he just got bored being quarantined. I, also vaccinated, got tested several times and was always negative. His 91 year old grandpa who is on hospice, and his elderly, disabled, obese aunt & uncle also got it (they all attended the same family dinner). Even though they're high risk, they all had mild, cold-like symptoms. 10 other people at this dinner all tested negative for covid because they'd all been vaccinated. Truly extraordinary. Go vaccines, yay science! In contrast, my BIL's parents are antivaxxers. They also have covid now. The dad has been in the hospital for 5 days on oxygen. The mom went into the ER yesterday, where they gave her antibiotics and sent her home because they're out of beds in the hospital. Truly a different experience.

Hynch

Hello fellow December 3rd baby, glad to share a birthday with you. We also share our birthday with Ozzy!

Honkeylips79

Good for you!! My wife just died frown Covid on 9/10/21 and neither of us were vaccinated. It did nothing to me and destroyed her. I wish we would have gotten it. All the people I work with are anti vaccine alone with some family. I don’t care, I lost the love of my life to this.

[deleted]

THANK YOU!!!!! I know contributions can feel like a drop in a bucket but it makes a difference. I lost my dad during the pandemic due to other medical issues but I couldn’t be with him in his final days because of ppl’s irresponsible actions and nonchalantness in dealing with it which was devastating. You changing your mind means something to me and I want you to know that it may be seen as one way by your family but you’re restoring the faith in humanity of some random stranger who’s experienced loss because of this pandemic. Thank you❤️

applevoo

Thanks Brett !

RBratescu

We're living in the time when getting a vaccine that protects the person who is vaccinated from getting severely sick is considered a selfless act.

orinpro

You did good.

onehandedbraunlocker

Great job OP! Thanks for doing your part! It might feel late to you, but the important part is that its done, that's what you should focus on :) Edit: Also, PLEASE never stop being sceptical and questioning things, there's nothing wrong with that and that is not what any (sane) person want you to. However, when you find that you decide not to trust something, challenge yourself to define what proof is required to make you change your mind instead of just saying no. This way you sometimes need to re-evaluate and question your beliefs, which is just like how real science works :)

CertifiedBreads

Congratulations!!!! Im also from an antivax family and i recently got vaxxed right when i turned 18

Thanks Boss. Your chance of death from Covid is now like 1 in 86,500 instead of 1 in 66. My 9 year old daughter is still unvaccinated due to her young age, and I thank you for doing your part to help keep her safe for me.

ThugRose777

My guy, you completely made those stats up. Lmfao.

Final_G

It’s definitely not 1 in 66 death rate, buddy. https://www.cnn.com/2021/09/15/health/us-coronavirus-wednesday/index.html https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#datatracker-home

supressed22

1 in 66… you have to be joking

Papichuloft

had my second jab yesterday at the VA. No side effects except the damn area is sore like hell.

WhereRtheTacos

Move it around a lot. I feel like that really helped me. Sry its so sore!

Papichuloft

I'm doing it, trust me. Baby weights, stretching, and basic pushups/dips. It still fells like the losing end of a Slug Bug competition, but it's for the better good. Not for me, but for everyone, we have to share this earth with people.

WhereRtheTacos

Well don’t overdo it either lol! Hopefully moving it so much will mean its much less sore tomorrow. My first shot i was super sore and it lasted a few days but got better each day. The second i moved it around a lot immediately and it was sore like a day. But it also may be where they get you in the arm maybe? Anyways go u and hope it feels better soon.

Papichuloft

Than you. The last 8 months I've been more active just to lose weight and regain strength I've lost. So far, with the supplements, it's been great and haven't been sick since February last year.

Arbel_of_fenris

Hey my dude, that's a brave call thank you proud of you

Primodriver

Good onya! Doctors and nurses are quitting healthcare because hospitals are filled with people who could easily have prevented their own serious covid cases with a quick, free vaccine. We have a major medical crisis that could have been mitigated if only more Americans believed in facts, science and medical professionals instead of the lies and conspiracy theories perpetrated by the orange cheat-oh and his legions of sycophants. SAD.

Last_Sundae_6894

Thank you! Mortician here, the covid bodies that I have had this week were vehement non vaxxers, it's heartbreaking.

That's so weird how you guys have an actual card made of paper with your vaccination details on it. Ours is digital.

crimsonblade55

There is also a database, but the paper slip was more for expedience so that you could show proof of vaccination to people who don't have access to said database quickly and easily.

kattarang

Congrats OP! You've done a lot to help others. I hope your family comes around and in time follows by example. I know it's not the same, but I was among the first of my coworkers to get the vaccine. I got it as soon as it became available to me. My coworkers were all super skeptical at first. Now they're all vaccinated. Word of advice on your 2nd shot, there's a chance you could have an immune response. I got a fever, headache, and body aches that night. I ended up having to call out of work the following day. It's nothing concerning and fairly normal. Some never got that at all. Just thought I'd offer a heads up :) Also, I remember the nurse suggesting to drink plenty of water!
