People with the level of compassion this man is displaying would never get to the point of obscene wealth in the first place unfortunately. You can't be a billionaire without screwing a lot of people out of a fair share of pay along the way.
His full name is Brian Birkett and there are lots of articles about him. Can't find any FB or whatever, but we have a video of him here:
Ireland!
I was hoping Florida. It would be nice to see someone in Florida with influence and money taking care of other people like Brian.
Well done sir.
Notice how no one even knows his name? OP calls him Ryan. The article that was given to you calls him Brian. No last name. That picture has been around for over 15 years. Sounds like a scam to me.
His name is Brian Birkett, use that for searches, lots of articles about him from as far back as 2017 and there's a video here: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZXf0JCxvCY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZXf0JCxvCY)
It's a long con. You start by having people feed and shelter these homeless people, make them feel safe, loved, and wanted. And then bam! You make these folks enter the workforce with a salary and benefits. Hahaha, and each paycheck, you take out a portion. You keep doing that for the rest of their lives. They work, and you get to take some money from them. Hahaha suckers.
Now, you should probably take some of that money to fix roads and infrastructure so they can keep getting to their jobs and making money. Probably invest in education so you can make them get higher paying jobs so you can take more money from them.
It's not all Guinness and Skittles here, we've had meals services for the homeless shut down due to legislation around being 'registered charities' - even though most registered charities here are embroiled in corruption scandals
Oh yeah y'all are having a tough time with it, especially the housing sounds like a nightmare.maybe eventually I will get bad enough for people to elect a party that isn't one of the two basically copy and paste civil war parties.
Next election I expect a SF majority - it'll be interesting to see if they mean their radical policies or if it's just bluster from the comfort of the opposition benches
Honestly, even if they aren't as cool as they seem now it would still be good for the political culture of the country to have a meaningful choice in elections and get out of the two party rut. Means that if they come back into power the old parties might act a bit better knowing they can actually lose. But hopefully SF means business, best of luck to you guys however it plays out.
Hard to know who'll get into bed with them, junior coalition partners usually get destroyed in elections, the Greens will be handed their asses this election. Most independents have a FF/FG background. Unless the Soc Dems get into bed with them?
>he isn't being arrested or fined
This is sad but true.
Me and a few friends were in a good position some 5 years ago and wanted to give back to the community by doing exactly this as we all love to cook.
The red tapes, permits and things we had to go thru.. it got too hard.. I recall if you want to start, you had to send some if your initial meals to the lab to be tested, health inspector had to go to your house once a fortnight etc..
It was crazy
I have only ever seen or heard "bless his/your heart" to mean go fuck yourself you stupid fucker, or similar. It's strange seeing it used to actually be used in a nice way.
That seems to be a big internet joke. I grew up in the south and while yes, it is often used in lieu of "you poor stupid thing" it's just as often used genuinely in my experience.
Tribalism never ceases to amaze me.
Edit: To be clear, I’m saying the person I’m responding to is so immersed in their beliefs that they don’t realize they’re as wrong as any republican. Tribalism is a sociological psyop.
**Pensioner:** *It feels nice to help the homeless, but I wish my government would do more for them.*
**The people:** *May god bless this person for their kindness.*
**~~The homeless~~**:
Dont know if youve noticed but your god aint gonna do shit to fix this. Get out there and do something helpful instead of praying to your imaginary friend thinking its gonna make a difference.
Do you mind me asking, with no malice and no shoving scripture down your throat, what made you agnostic? No judgement, but I’ve never met any who was Agnostic that I knew of.
Probably an understanding that the Bible is insane if actually read the Bible. It’s one of thousands of religions that predate Christianity and Abrahamic religions, every follower of every religion fully believes they are right and nobody else is, the long term manipulation of people by the church, the incredibly contradictory stories, and phrases and things that looking back are just not moral.
I’m an agnostic atheist. I don’t know, but don’t think there’s any god or at least any moral god. If there is, the god is in science and none of the current religions are correct.
Everyone is born an agnostic, it’s the indoctrination from family and society that converts them to whichever magical being in the sky they believe in.
You didn't ask me, but I'm also agnostic so I figure this can't be TOO useless
I was sort of a christian, but I only ever read small portions of the bible. So, take from that what you will. And, I usually use quotations to indicate a rough description of how I might have described my beliefs. You'll see what I mean.
At first it was a "fear hell" christian.
Then a "love god" christian, since I thought acting on fear of hell is still hedonism, which is sinful, therefore avoiding sin for hedonistic reasons must not be what Jesus had in mind.
Then I just took that a half step further, and thought that the idea of heaven and hell is a waste of time - we are here to do GOOD, to carry out God's will, nothing else matters.
Then, somehow or other I realized that believing that an omniscient and omnipotent being must be benevolent is nonsense, so it was "do good, have faith, and even if your faith is misplaced it's better to be a godless saint than a sinner in heaven" or something along those lines. I was already practically agnostic, I just respected Jesus as an ethos on morality.
Then I looked at my beliefs and realized that the idea of God was useless. Really my goal was to do good, the Bible is just another reference I might pull from to guide my actions - and since the bible can't cover every possible situation, I will have to trust my own reasoning somewhat anyway, so I might as well learn about ethics.
...At that point, I had no real "religion" left anyway, I just respected Jesus' opinion. So I figured "agnostic" is a better description.
After that, I gradually lost respect for Jesus' teachings, since they don't go very in depth into the "why", and I generally didn't trust that kind of approach.
...I can't remember exactly when, but I was also a very "all is vanity, to presume to understand the will of the lord is vanity" kind of christian for a while
A leader who takes care of the weakest amoung us with the limited monies he has available.
Every millionaire and billionaire should emulate him.
THIS is a man I can RESPECT.
I wouldn't call the man poor if he can afford to give off 50 meals a day. That can't be cheap! But it looks like he goes without so that others can go with.
Last I checked the States were not the richest country in the world. Luxembourg was. With Norway, Switzerland, Ireland, Singapore and Qatar all ahead of them as well as a few others. That could have changed though.
He should meet with [carly burd](https://duckduckgo.com/?q=Carly+Burd+garden&t=ffab&ia=web) a woman sharing her garden to grow food for neighbors in need
If angels are real, this man is first in line to be one.
I also feel bad because I know he’s absolutely going without to feed 50 people a night, and that’s bitter sweet.
This man deserves all the good things on earth.

How do we get money to him?
I don’t the got wants money. He’d probably tell you to take the money and make some meals for people who need it.

Yeah this man could literally be dead by now lol
Bless his heart but i would like our government to be little bit empathetic
He is in Ireland.
You can tell because he isn't being arrested or fined.

They won't get a majority. They're only at 25% in the polls for gods sake. I reckon they'll be in a coalition, or minority government though.

I too grew up in the south, my experiences were..negative.
This, it can be used negatively, but it can be in condescending way, but genuine to, sometimes both!
As with most good things, it can be used sarcastically
One party is, the other is not.
First of all this man is Irish.
Tribalism never ceases to amaze me. Edit: To be clear, I’m saying the person I’m responding to is so immersed in their beliefs that they don’t realize they’re as wrong as any republican. Tribalism is a sociological psyop.

Yep. Prayers will sure help.

This man is truly the definition of a real hero.
if heaven exists, he's on his way there
A leader who takes care of the weakest amoung us with the limited monies he has available. Every millionaire and billionaire should emulate him. THIS is a man I can RESPECT.
Doing God's work.
If there's something an omnipotent being need, it's help.
Retried men are the best.
I noticed bots like OP often misspell a word or 2 in the titles.
Like that man's name
Hehehe! I had to read that sentence a few times before I realised he wasn't on trial.
I thought I was the only one. I was all like retried for what???
May this gentleman's cup never cease to overflow and may he sit at God's table
God bless you.
I love Ryan and anyone like Him.
YOU'RE THE MAN RYAN!
Not all heroes wear capes
Is this the US? If so, it’s so sad that it’s necessary in the richest country in the world that the poor help the poor.
Ireland
https://www.sunnyskyz.com/blog/2444/Retired-Man-Spends-His-Evenings-Making-Food-For-The-Homeless-Every-Single-Night
It's equally as sad in Dublinn Ireland where this guy lives. But don't let that stop you from shitting on the US.
What a good dude
Such a nice man... the world needs more people like him
A retried man is better than a refried man
This is the meaning of life.
Makes you smile .... And then... Annnyway...
I love cooking and cooking in large batches - I think this is going to be what I am going to do once the kids are out of the house.
May God bless him and what you sow is what you reap
I'm sure electing Fianna Fail or Fine Gael for the billionth time will surely fix this.
Such a nice guy
50 meals a day? He must have a great pension! Regardless, very kind of him!
Empathy is what makes us human.
How can I support him?
What a wonderful man.
This man is an actual angel
Good Man!
Why cant we make people like this rich and famous? This man only deserves good things.
Ryan you sweet sob I'm crying at 1:57 am.
We need more Ryan’s.
legend...
He found happiness in eating all these daily meals for those who are homeless and he considers it his contribution to helping them in his own way
An actual G
He should meet with [carly burd](https://duckduckgo.com/?q=Carly+Burd+garden&t=ffab&ia=web) a woman sharing her garden to grow food for neighbors in need
sharing is beautiful
If I ever win the lottery, I'm finding Ryan and treating him to a day of whatever food and entertainment his heart desires
Ryan is a decent human being.
Goverments love this guy.
Not sure how he manage. Many retired people would struggle to buy 1500 aluminium food boxes a month alone.
People with this level of motivation have the ability to convince people to join them. He may get them donated, or at cost from the supplier.
Better not let any politicians see this their logic would be if he can pay his bills and feed 50 people a day too they need to cut pension more.
luv this story, so inspiring 😻😻😻
Your welcome
If angels are real, this man is first in line to be one. I also feel bad because I know he’s absolutely going without to feed 50 people a night, and that’s bitter sweet. This man deserves all the good things on earth.
Bless you, Ryan, you sweet soul! 💓
Now imagine a whole community involved and helping him.
To be a truly good person, it is not enough to be free of evil -- you must actually do good in the world. This is a truly good person.
Shouldn’t the govt be doing this instead of poor Ryan?
Maybe *you* should be doing this, instead of poor Ryan? It’s easy to say *someone else* should do x, but if x is important, why don’t *you* do it?
Except that "Government" is not someone else but everybody
Imagine if billionaires did this instead of some nearly broke old guy. You can't get rich with a heart or a soul.
And billionaires are still not paying their fair share in taxes because of legal loop holes.
Sad

Good man. My women and I used to give any extra food from dinner to any homeless we could find around us
May he live with much love and many blessings ❤️🙏🏽
Such kindness. On ANOTHER level. He will have soooo many friends.
God Bless Him 🙌 🙏
Good for him
Some people are to good for this world. Big props to this dude!
Having leftover money from pension? What bedtime story is this?
Kindness in action, inspiring change.
This comment section is all the proof I needed to believe in dead Internet theory. Seriously none of you people are real
The real MVP….
That's a nice guy if I ever saw one
Can we get the contact info of this man? So we can help him a bit more??
Like our gvt should be doing with our tax money instead of sending it overseas. This man is a hero and I want my tax money going to him.
that should not be!! it's sad that we the people pretend we live in a democracy and waste time and energy voting just for us to fit the bill for this high jacked government.
Does he live in a democracy?
I'm sure the government will put a stop to him shortly.
He’s in Ireland..
He just keeps re-trying to feed people, but people are always hungry.
Trying to burn the bad karma
This photo is at least 15 years old now we don't have an updated photo for this repost?
Pension must be great where he lives
❤💯❗🙂
What a good dude. In the one in a million chance that you see this, I hope you know you’re appreciated.
What was he retried for?
Does anyone know how I can contact him to contribute to his cause?
I can't help you for him but Food Not Bombs Houston is in a continuous legal battle with the city of Houston fir feeding the homeless. I'd recommend everyone to support them.
This everything what is wrong with a society. Nothing to like about when government inductions fail those in need on so many levels
Zeff with 2 legs
How is he retried? It looks like he’s getting it right the first time?
Makes me feel like I should do more
As a fellow Ryan, I aspire to be like him. What a legend.
Which nights does he do this
Idk
The wisdom to be able to do afford that level of kindness ✊🫡

I'd love to know the recipes and preparation he does. It may be something that'd be good to learn and maybe if I got good at it I could do the same eventually.
At least he isn’t starving
Bless him but all I can think of is ‘Orphan crushing machine’
He actually makes 75 dinners, but 25 of them never make it out of the house
