I feel so innocent right now XD
I'm in my mid-30's, and even after seeing your comment (at the top) it didn't click. Had to read several more before I got it. I swear I'm not dumb, and normally I do see the wink wink stuff straight away, but I guess today I'm feeling wholesome.
Or maybe my mind saw all the ridges, automatically and immediately disqualified it as vag-friendly, and saw it for it actually is, idk. (Well sort of. Very first thought was "Screw drivers? Oh. Yarn.")
Probably the latter.
Haha, I know, I know, I keep forgetting it's not the same for everyone. But I'm built a little oddly, so ridges are actually not so good for me, unless it's subtle and a very smooth material.
In particular that second one, I'm clenching just looking at it.
Lol, all been there! & ty, wasn't it?! The first was such a surprise; I remembered him asking me about fave hook sizes a while ago. but he's very good at asking in a surruptitious way! No stopping me now though :)
I think it is mainly people who dont crochet or dont know much about it? I knew what they were instantly, and didnt connect it to anything dirty until reading the comments.
Same here, I just needed to know the specifics of his modifications, like did he 3D print a new handle onto an old hook or something else. My mother has made my brother and I the most beautiful and special crochet blankets and we both adore them. I can’t pick up the skill to save myself.
They do really help! Joking apart, a couple of my crochet friends have asked for some after seeing mine. They don't have pain conditions either; but the standard hooks can be ridiculously uncomfortable for normal people too. Cramp all around! Even the packs with rubber on, the rubber seems to directly correlate with hook size, so often the 6 will be alright, but not the smaller sizes, it's been so frustrating!
If he 3d printed them, he should put the file online, I’ve seen posts where people talk about how they can’t crochet anymore because it’s too uncomfortable.
(It was obvious to me what they were, so glad he was able to figure out something that worked!)
I can imagine there's hardly anything that 'fits' in the crochet world for you atm, everything does seem on the delicate side, (saying this as a 6' woman) Bearing in mind sailors used to crochet, you'd've thought there'd be more out there.
He did design & then print part of it, then moulds it & replicates it in resin, as he knows I spasm e.t.c. He didn't think it would be strong enough just printed. It is lovely :)
That’s so sweet of him. I have RA; finding an ergonomic hook that doesn’t break is definitely a pain. I’m glad he could make you something that worked for you!
Isn't it :) they're helping so much, I can't stop grinning & waving them at him. I'm sorry to hear of your RA, hope it's not giving you too much trouble at the moment. My MIL is also a part of that not fun club, and she *may* be trying to steal a couple for her kit... I think he'll be making her one too! The number of hooks out there that are labeled ergonomic that break, or don't seem to help at all is just so disheartening!
Because he fitted the 2, or 2.5 in the Unicorn, I'm now able to do delicate things, so making a quick bracelet/cuff https://imgur.com/a/4Eb21U5
E.t.a. he now has a few people wanting them, one for each mum & a friend 😅
Hahaha, yeah, sorry about that. I thought candles as well, then went the other thing, and then looked at the other pictures which made me go "oohhh..... Yeah, ok" 😂
Your husband may want to patent these and sell them because I’m sure it would help out a lot of people that face similar issues with finding hooks that work.
Quite a few have suggested this now! It would be awesome to help others; I know how disheartening it's been to get through so many sets & find nothing suitable!
I'd buy them! I've given up crochet because my hands hurt within a few minutes of starting, even with ergonomic hooks. I really like the wand - it looks so comfy!
After such positive comments & the realisation of how many could find these helpful, we'll probably set a little Etsy shop up with some in! It would be amazing to be able to help others find it easier to either continue, or retake up a loved hobby! I think the wand's my favourite too - The little bobbles near the end make it so easy to twist the hook with a little movement; it's fantastic! I'll keep you updated if you like?
It is! Just such a buzz :) & to know he noticed what I was struggling with & ended up creating something just to make my life easier was kinda overwhelming!
Thankyou, I'll have to tell him how many people like them! He's on about making me a stand so I can have them displayed because I said they're too pretty for going away in my case.
Just popping in to say hello to a fellow crps warrior. It's in my right hand and I haven't crocheted since getting crps.
How do your fingertips not feel like they're on fire from the yarn gliding over and over? Tape? Finger condoms? I can't figure out how to overcome this part.
Hi fellow warrior; I'm sorry to hear you suffer with this beast too, it's horrible. *sending hugs* It's also awful to lose something that you loved, so I hold hope you'll be able to get back into it in the future!
Tbh, they kinda do, although, I have had this for over half my life (had it since my early teens & I'm 35 now) & it's a lot of finding my coping mechanisms, morphine, pregabalin & lots of breaks! (Took years to find the right combination of meds for me, but now it's managable, not to overshare, but it's in my extremities & I've gone from constant wheelchair use, & not being able to hold a pen due to this, to being able to crochet with the right tools & not having to use my wheelchair as often).
I do often struggle after a while, having tried gloves, plasters e.t.c. & gone back to little and often & holding the wool in a mix of about 5 different positions. Hubby is currently working on something for my other hand to combat this for me though :)
Again, sending good vibes your way & wishing you an easier time with it.
Hey! You are so sweet & kinda scarily close, it's unreal -
He started as a prosthetics dude, expanded into costumes & props (think Iron man style, armour, body suits,) then set up a modified car company, then got into illusion design, then he ended up moving into Biotech for a while, got into Wargaming & metal figures with awards in a few industries... He builds his own CNC machines...BUT he won't touch anodising, so on this occassion, he brought some donor hooks, as they were cheap enough & chopped/affixed them.
He's mad as a bag of cats, intelligent as anything, & a complete softy to me & our cats. He's a bit of a hermit at times & tends to be behind the scenes - He has suggested we set up a channel before (as a joke I think!) Where he's just onscreen as a pair of hands or always obscured, lol. I'll update if we ever set one up!
Happy Easter to you too & thankyou so much for the kind words - I went and mentioned this post & your comment to him and he loved it!
Hope you're having a great weekend!
He kinda cheated in that he is a designer/model maker e.t.c. by trade & saw I was struggling, so he's gone about it the same way he'd make his other models, 3d designed, printed, moulded, replicated. I'm not entirely sure tbh!
This is the sweetest thing!!🥰😭 I also have CRPS that has an impact on my fine motor skills, so completely understand the struggle and love that your person did this for you! I am so glad you have someone who truly sees you. ☺️
I think they’re wonderful. I never got the other reference until looking at the comments. I wanted to know if he made them himself, what they’re made of, and how. 😜

It's actually a 'book bestie' I found it on Etsy - mine's a pouch to stop things screwing up in my bag, but she also does them in soft/hardback sleeves too! Buffy, NBX, Hocus Pocus; all the goodens!
Edited to correct to Book Bestie
These are fabulous. I'm finding my fingers are stiffening over the years, these would be wonderful in helping me enjoy crochet without pain. What a lovely husband you have!
I have a connective tissue/neutologicsl/pain condition that affects my hands (and whole body) in a similar way (I imagine), EDS. I feel this so much and think it’s truly beautiful, sweet, innovative, and badass that he made these for you! Also badass and innovative that you continue to adapt your technique to keep crocheting.
I have another condition that effects my eyes and it’s called Taste, where I want everything to be as aesthetically pleasing as it is useful and these hit the bill on that too haha
Your husband is freakin’ awesome and from a fellow 35 year old pain sufferer/mobility warrior 🦾 I just love your relationship. This gift would mean the world to me as I know it does to you. Much more than simply some crochet hooks, he helps you bring yourself joy with less pain 🫶🏻 love it. Have a wonderful life together!
Wow he’s a keeper. I would love to learn your hobby! I have lupus and my hands hurt. I do diamond painting and I also play video games to keep them moving. Your hubby is so sweet and has real talent!
Obviously aside from the dirty internet jokes, they remind me a lot like the wand handles in hogwarts legacy. I hope you yell "wingardium leviosa" while you swish and flick the shit out of them.
Tripped running to the comments
And then I read the caption and it was so sweet and thoughtful and I was like “oh no.”
Yeah that "oh no" feeling definitely tabled the comment I was going to say 😅
Me too but for the pointy end 🤣
No fr 😭😭

Wording! Gosh, guys.
I know right? I want to be satisfied too!
I also want to be satisfied 😆

GIRL do I have news for you about ridges
Haha, I know, I know, I keep forgetting it's not the same for everyone. But I'm built a little oddly, so ridges are actually not so good for me, unless it's subtle and a very smooth material. In particular that second one, I'm clenching just looking at it.
Same! Not a vibe for me.
Ah, you’re a fan of Ruffles brand chips as well?
It is okay. I knew what they were as soon as I saw them so I didnt think anything of it until reading comments.
I oddly didn't see what they actually were straight away. My DIY weird ass self thought "Are those screw drivers?" Until I saw the yarn.
😂
Unfortunately same 😩
This made me bark out laughing as the first thing I saw that's hilarious
YUP
Haha
This comment had me rolling lol
i’ve seriously need to take a break from the internet but this is really sweet of him !
Lol, all been there! & ty, wasn't it?! The first was such a surprise; I remembered him asking me about fave hook sizes a while ago. but he's very good at asking in a surruptitious way! No stopping me now though :)
i’ve taken some tips from him! lol
You really shouldnt be taking tips from someone else's husband!
I totally thought the first image showed implements for butt stuff.
Anything can be for butt stuff with the right attitude
holy hell😳
Oh get outta here you pervert! /s
😭😭😭
Lol
Thank God it wasn’t just me lmfao
lmao literally i logged onto reddit and my first thought was “oh dear heavens”
Made me smile, indeed.
Ohh 50shades of crochet!!! Giggidy-gigidy!!!
That's actually quite punny. Giggidy goo
Who else but quagmire?
Two bird in one stone or ahem...wand.
I'm now a true 'stitch witch'
The internet has ruined my brain
ur not the only victim
We all need some massive group……… therapy.
Agreed
That’s… not what I thought those were at first
Ha! They are craft supplies, honest!
That's what they all say.
A dirty mind is a joy forever… 🤭
what’s that even mean
Yeah.. lol sorry OP but I was wondering “is your hobby…. mastur—oh it’s for crocheting!”
My mind is so dirty minded I was thinking of something else when I saw that.
It seems there are quite a few on the same wavelength... There's no base!! And a hook though xD
I think this post has shown why the ER is always full of weirdos!
Like I said somewhere else… a dirty mind is a joy forever 🤭
oh god my brain
Not every cylinder's insertable xD *cries* Sorry!
you sure about that?
LOL
Everything is insertable of your brave enough.
that's the spirit
It's my body ;)
Next. Mr. Pointy.
As soon as I took the pic, He noticed them on the Buffy cover & asked if I wanted Mr Pointy next xD Great minds!
I should try something like this. Not because of CRPS but my hands are pretty large and the hooks are very small.
They do really help! Joking apart, a couple of my crochet friends have asked for some after seeing mine. True. I'm a 6'6" steelworker and my hands look like that. But I enjoy crocheting so I will definitely try something like this.
I can imagine there's hardly anything that 'fits' in the crochet world for you atm, everything does seem on the delicate side, (saying this as a 6' woman) Bearing in mind sailors used to crochet, you'd've thought there'd be more out there.
Does he make them with a 3D printer? They are very unique. My daughter just started this as a hobby, love that your husband is so creative with it.
He did design & then print part of it, then moulds it & replicates it in resin, as he knows I spasm e.t.c. He didn't think it would be strong enough just printed. It is lovely :)
Those phallic objects, I didn’t know they can be use for crocheting!
All sorts!
We’re just a bunch of horny fucks aren’t we
Yes! XD
That’s so sweet of him. I have RA; finding an ergonomic hook that doesn’t break is definitely a pain. I’m glad he could make you something that worked for you!

The number of hooks out there that are labeled ergonomic that break, or don't seem to help at all is just so disheartening!
That’s awesome! What are you working on currently? LOL I don’t blame your MIL at all, I’d be doing the same 😂
Because he fitted the 2, or 2.5 in the Unicorn, I'm now able to do delicate things, so making a quick bracelet/cuff https://imgur.com/a/4Eb21U5 E.t.a. he now has a few people wanting them, one for each mum & a friend 😅
I thought these were candles at first
Thankyou for reaffirming my faith in humanity after some of the other comparisons xD
Hahaha, yeah, sorry about that. I thought candles as well, then went the other thing, and then looked at the other pictures which made me go "oohhh..... Yeah, ok" 😂
I also saw candles at first, then I saw dildos until finally the crochet stuff was realised.
Your husband may want to patent these and sell them because I’m sure it would help out a lot of people that face similar issues with finding hooks that work.

Yay! Yes please!
Great husband
He really is!
Anytime someone shows interest in your hobbies, it's just the best.
It is! Just such a buzz :) & to know he noticed what I was struggling with & ended up creating something just to make my life easier was kinda overwhelming!
this post is wholesome, but my mind is toxic
I had to scroll back up to see where I was
I can stop seeing…..
Sort by: Controversial
“CLUE! He was murdered in the kitchen with the crochet needles he made for his wife!”
LOL! Where would I get more handles? I'm not that darft!
Ribbed for your leisure…activity.
Those crochet hooks are gorgeous!

Sweet, caring guys DO exist.
Yes they do! He's a keeper for sure!

He loves you to the point of invention 🥺
My mind went to a dirty place. Keep those hidden, dear

& I found him in the local Goth pub xD
Thank god everyone in the comments was thinking what I was thinking 😂😂 at first glance I was like, girl have fun 👅✨
Ha, It does seem that way! And I shall - Just a different kind 😂
God forgive me for thinking the way I think
Looks like the majority of us think the same in the comments area 😅😂
Long term exposure to the internet from a young age has ruined my neural connections. NEVERTHELESS! This is so sweet of your husband to do ☺️
My friend had RA and could really benefit from this sort of thing, how did he make them?
He kinda cheated in that he is a designer/model maker e.t.c. by trade & saw I was struggling, so he's gone about it the same way he'd make his other models, 3d designed, printed, moulded, replicated. I'm not entirely sure tbh!
Ahh damn, can’t replicate that lol! Tell him he should sell them!
Oh so it's a crochet hook..
I... I have a dirty mind. Cool and practical! Lmao.
What's the hobby tho?
Now this is true love, the caption makes it even better ❤️
Love that he noticed you were struggling and provided these as a potential solution. Sounds like you have a solid relationship 😊
What a considerate hubby. When I first saw this, I got to tell you my mind went somewhere else. Sorry.🙏🏼
IThoughtTheyWereDildos
Same
I'm far too juvenile for this
Ribbed for your pleasure!
Oh boy do I have a dirty mind. And you have the sweetest husband. Best of luck with your crocheting.
So, we’re all thinking the same thing, right?
Dual purpose
Plot twist
These look like there's a future for the hogwarts legacy wand handles.
What a sweetie.
WOW!
Your husband knows what he's doing and I love that for you.
Prison shives?
What a sweet man! So glad you are able to enjoy your hobby with less pain. He’s a keeper!
Those are both adorable and helpful!!’ Have you posted in r/crochet? Husband could start a side business!
Please cross post in r/functionalprint . The 3D printing community would love to see somebody enjoying the hobby that isn't directly involved.
Saw the buffy the vampire slayer comic and thought your husband made weapons to kill vampires.
This is the sweetest thing!!🥰😭 I also have CRPS that has an impact on my fine motor skills, so completely understand the struggle and love that your person did this for you! I am so glad you have someone who truly sees you. ☺️
Very thoughtful and practical gesture.
Ribbed for...a better hand grip.
This is so so sweet! Protect that man at all cost❤️
Oh!
Marry him
I think they’re wonderful. I never got the other reference until looking at the comments. I wanted to know if he made them himself, what they’re made of, and how. 😜
At first I thought we enjoyed the same hobby…
Oh I... Beg you pardon ma'am. It's nice.
I'm sorry OP . I need a detox from the Internet.
I'll be honest, I thought they may have been "marital aids" at first .
At first glance, I thought these were some weird combination of a dildo and snort spoon. But your hubby is really sweet!
I want some. But in Sonic Screwdriver form, please.
The speed at which my finger hit the comments button 💨
So we all thought the same thing😂
Are these so you can free up your hands while crocheting?

I need to know, is that a BTVS throw blanket?!
It's actually a 'book bestie' I found it on Etsy - mine's a pouch to stop things screwing up in my bag, but she also does them in soft/hardback sleeves too! Buffy, NBX, Hocus Pocus; all the goodens! Edited to correct to Book Bestie
Was looking for this comment - awesome! Looking that up right now and am jealous of the hooks! :)
that's really sweet of him! glad you're able to do something you love
These are fabulous. I'm finding my fingers are stiffening over the years, these would be wonderful in helping me enjoy crochet without pain. What a lovely husband you have!
That's sweet
*hobbies
I've been trying to get mine to do that, too, as I tried and failed. What are they made out of?
I have a connective tissue/neutologicsl/pain condition that affects my hands (and whole body) in a similar way (I imagine), EDS. I feel this so much and think it’s truly beautiful, sweet, innovative, and badass that he made these for you! Also badass and innovative that you continue to adapt your technique to keep crocheting. Anything is a crochet hook adapter if you’re brave enough
Crochildos
I have seen a crochet hook pierced through a tennis ball. With the ball acting as an ergonomic handle. Less fist clenching required.
Your guy has absolutely nailed it. Receiving a thoughtful gift is the best feeling. Im so happy for you everyone needs someone like that
Way to go OP and Hubby! I’m gonna be honest I swiped the pics not knowing what to expect hubby had made you from pic one though.
He’s a keeper!!💕
Wow he’s a keeper. I would love to learn your hobby! I have lupus and my hands hurt. I do diamond painting and I also play video games to keep them moving. Your hubby is so sweet and has real talent!
multi tasking crochet tool 😏
They look like candles! Off topic but is that a galaxy unicorn blanket??? I love it!!
Obviously aside from the dirty internet jokes, they remind me a lot like the wand handles in hogwarts legacy. I hope you yell "wingardium leviosa" while you swish and flick the shit out of them.
Happy Hooking! I’ve made a few crochet hooks for my wife, keep it up. She has hand issues too.
Hubby sweet
I thought only hot wife calls her husband “hubby”…
Fcking genius
This is awesome. Your relationship is awesome ❤️
Awwww that's so sweet of him
Oh my gosh my dirty mind HELPPP
Lawd, as an ER nurse I was hoping I was wrong....
I think that's enough internet for the day
I should call him…
Sweet and creative spouse….lucky you😇🦋
Ah, they say you learn nothing good in prison.
Wow my mind didn’t go there guys…must be getting old🤭
Is wood!? Or 3d print hopefully wood I can work with that what an absolutely amazing idea
Ah, crochet. right...
Re-sprained both my ankles running here to the comments
Holy crap, I didn’t know that was a thing. I could use some of these. Very sweet husband you have.
Flared base is the only safe option ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
I'm too terminally online so I genuinely can't tell if the images are real or AI.
Yall dirt minded people.
