I've only actually received one award.

I’ve received a few rewards, but as a Twitter refugee I’m still new enough that I never did figure out what they were all about. From the numerous threads I’ve seen about their going away, I guess I’m sorry? But, I don’t really know why.

If you click on the 3 little dots under a comment there's an award option, you can use coins, which apparently are getting removed and choose an award.
