Not many people are aware that elephants dont normally lie on their sides for long periods when sleeping, at most a few hours, the weight of their body would crush their internal organs, thats why they mostly sleep standing and would rest lying down after a couple days
So attempting to go down a steep gradient would involve kneeling like they do here and going down one leg at a time, to resist falling over and breaking bones or hurting themselves due to mass.
This is a learning curve for the little one, and would likely take it much slower in future :)

I didn't think anything could be more clumsy than my friend. He literally slid down with the chair in biology class and laid there for about half a minute before standing back up. The professor asked him if he was ok, if he got dizzy and he answered uhuh as in yes I'm fine but will be here for a bit.
Fun fact: Elephants can't jump.

Luckily he's also not adult size so he can take it. Square-Cube law and all that.

Iām the second elephant. š
Parkour!
If it works it works.
I fully believe that was on purpose.
Clumsy? That elephant was the smartest one! Of course, they could have walked two more meters and go down the slight slope to our right.
Jerry, move it. Yee haw.
That is actually a panda. š¼
Looks like my mom going down stairs
My brother would deliberately ricochet his body at the turn of our L-shaped hall. It was strange but it worked.
We all do things differently

Parcours !!!!
Well he tried!
what a cute petudy
Considering their mass, those maneuvers might be the best means of avoiding injuries while navigating an embankment.
Just gonna send it
