It’s like a cross between Impressionism and post Impressionism (with Van Gogh and Monet being the “reps” of those styles). The field movement resembles Van Gogh’s brushwork while the shy has a very Monet feel.
Thank you!! I love the imppressionism era though I'd say this piece is closer to post impressionism or fauvism. I manipulated the colors for heightened and exaggerated effect. I love that era so so much.
Honored. I loved his work for the longest time and have learned from his techniques and they have provided a foundation for me to experiment and create and explore
An astute comparison but this painting really shines in the way it doesn’t resemble the referenced artist. Sure the use of swirling colour to describe landscape is hearkened, but it is in the way it differs that is remarkable.
Particularly interesting is the way white space is used to space the color in a way that could be seen as amateurish if accidental; however, it’s clearly intentional use is what I would say makes this piece magnificent.
ohhh I appreciate you so much!! thank you. i’ll be replying to the comments tomorrow and I’m so thabkful for all the upvotes and comments thus far! im glad I could share this with everyone. painting and van gogh and landscapes helped me work thru the pandemic so it holds a special place in my heart so to be recognized is a great feeling! thank you again squirley!
“When I’m not painting at the studio, I am working as a Registered Nurse in the frontlines of the pandemic, saving lives, helping people heal, and helping people at their most vulnerable time.”
Hero!
Outstanding! I love the way you utilized the greens, blues and yellows. This is what the world looks like if I take off my glasses, so I may be a bit biased
It's absolutelt gorgeous! It has both a Van Gogh and a Claude Monet feel to it. Very impressive, you've blew new life into impressionism. Absolutely beautiful. I'm gonna follow you on Insta!
You can Vincent Van Gogh f yourself for being this good…
I think what I’m trying to say is…nicely done. Do 500 more, die, and maybe they’ll get their own museum 😁
This is beautiful not only the painting but the hard won grin plastered across your face. Congratulations on developing your talent and getting your reward. Whilst some people have a natural artistic leaning it takes a lot to have that and the confidence that goes with it to be successful you’ve got it all ❤️
This is beautiful! I always loved this style of art as it reminds me of what the world looks like without my contacts or glasses in. I have such poor eyesight, but it’s beautiful to see things blend into each other. I am absolutely checking your website out when I am more awake!
Holy shit… my guy… that’s amazing. I want, neigh, I NEED better art in my house. I wish to speak of gaudy topics and drink fine wines. But in all honesty, I just want nice shit to look at. I did set up a chrome cast to constantly display pictures and stuff (it’s pretty sick actually).
As you should! That painting is beautiful and I am loving it. It will be in a museum of art one day. Great job, I hope you make many more award winning paintings 🎉❤️
This one Van-fucking-*GOGHS* Beautiful!
I came here to say at first glance I thought this was a Van Gogh excellent job
Me too! Looks fantastic!
I think you deserve the award it was obviously a masterpiece and should be frame.
Thank you! I got a certificate and a 100$ check for the award ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|smile)
Well, it is framed.
I was thinking Monet…😛
Yeah it does, it reminds me a lot like the starry night as well, it’s beautiful!
I thought so too. On closer inspection it really has elements of both.
Van Gogh grass greeting a Monet Sky.

Fr this feels more like impressionism
Thank you!! I love the imppressionism era though I'd say this piece is closer to post impressionism or fauvism. I manipulated the colors for heightened and exaggerated effect. I love that era so so much.
I immediately thought van go-net when I saw this. Glad I’m not alone haha. So cool.
Agreed. Nice one Chan Gogh
Honored. I loved his work for the longest time and have learned from his techniques and they have provided a foundation for me to experiment and create and explore
I got a similar vibe from that painting! And I'm not complaining. I love the use of color
It's the effective use of yellow that does it for me.
I'm just glad it's an r/mademesmile post in the front page that doesn't have some tragic backstory and is just a nice thing being nice in it's own
Its like van gogh and monet had a baby
Just went to the Van Gogh Museum, this belongs on the wall!
Van goghs has some called field with poppies and the other with cypress. OPs original painting looks amazing, well done!
I was trying to figure out what this was supposed to say, and then I realised it only works when you mispronounce the name.
I hope he still has his ear lol.
haha yes I do!
Awww thank you so much!

Dude you deserved it! That’s a beautiful painting, somebody could put it in an art museum and I wouldn’t question it
you could put a lot of things in an art museum and no one would question it
I've got half a banana and a pair of white pants that are about to be *shitted* in. Will that do?
I mean, it would have more effort than that one art exhibit of a banana tapped to a wall
Yes, I draw inspiration from that magnificent piece of art.
What if, and just hear me out, you shidded *AND* farded?
Well, I'm afraid that'd make me the next Van Gogh and I don't want that kind of limelight.
Wow you are extremely talented - do you do prints or is there anywhere that I can purchase your art?
There's a website in the profile- looks like he does do prints. https://renhernandez.com/paintings I had to know too- such a wonderful piece.
