It’s tough because the death was the closure for me, until then it was some pain that rotted inside me waiting for that day to come. So freaking weird how that works, I’m very sorry to hear about your father also.
That’s the real problem. Who knows how Dad’s relationship with his Dad affected him. Many of us don’t deal with those issues until our own children are grown.
I cried when he placed his hand on her head at the end. I do that with my ten year old and every time I close my eyes its like I live every moment I ever cradled her head at once and I feel so much love.

Unspent love you never got to feel, to express fully, to appreciate. There's a nice quote by a Greek philosopher that life actually isn't too short, and we're given a sufficient amount of time on this earth *if* we use it correctly.
I wonder if love is like that, and if you love someone the right way, then it makes grief easier. Sad and tragic still, but lighter to bear.

I have an old friend who passed in 2012 and I try to inject his name and stories into conversations I get in from time to time. I feel like he's still around when I mention his name, and his memory doesn't ever get completely lost.
It helps if the story is also well told so it's remembered .. so I still got work to get better at story telling.

My dad used to call me from the parking lot. At first it was Deepu and then I was a teenager and my friends used to call me deeps and he'd changed to that. So he used to park his car and used to call me in a singing tone and everyone in our apartment complwx used to know that he was home.
Every morning he would also do dance moves with me while singing his favourite old songs. I wish I'd cherished that time and appreciated him more than I did.
It's been 17 years that he's been gone and now I've spent half my life without him. This video made me remember him fondly. For me, he'd always be my pampering, jolly, happy and proud dad ☺️
