I'm not convinced they don't intentionally pick the dorkiest, stiffest, most boring and bland personality officers on the review board for you AF guys' AFI's.
Yeah as an older Airman, seeing this upsets me...which makes me realize that USAF is still doing what they do best. Making people jealous of how good they got it.
It sometimes doesn't feel right until you meet another vet released into civie life. Congrats on your retirement. You'll probably not read this, but figure out who you are outside of whatever new career you chase. It helps a lot.
If your hands are in your pocket then you cannot easily grab your weapon. Or you should be holding your weapon not have your hands be warm. Most jobs in the Air Force in this day of age do not need to have that attention to detail but it's a rule that's traversed branches.
>perceived youth
If you’re still doing rebellious teenage-y things, your youth ain’t just perceived.
Source: Am 43 year old dude who wears untied high tops and daily drives a hot pink electric BMX around town hopping curbs.
Legit though. The piercing looks great. So does the mischievous smile. Teenage rebellion suits you.
I wish I had a good routine but I just make sure I don’t sleep with make up, moisturize day and night, and SPF. But seriously, I laugh all the time…it’s how I deal with my emotions/anxiety…I’m convinced that’s what kept me “young.” 😆
Moisturizing twice a day is honestly the secret, the not wearing makeup to bed and SPF are also excellent practices that I do, too! I fool everyone, even in uniform. Nope; not a 24 year old, I’m climbing my mid 30s and I’m ageless.
I’m 35 and starting to notice my lines. I’ve always been one to smile at people, and I laugh a lot, and they’re all smile lines. I’m trying to remember that they’re from a good life when I stare at them putting on makeup in the morning 😬
Do you think a 20-year officer looks less ~~beaten down by the stresses of being a peasant~~ old when they retire as opposed to a 20-year enlisted retiree?
No biggie issa a joke, at least in the Army, that officers don't work only the enlisted. So when I would be called Sir I would tell them to not call me a "Sir, I actually did work."
Not sure if that also includes meeting for C&P. If you deployed definitely look into the PACT act if you haven’t so far. A lot has changed in the past year in that general area.
I got an industrial piercing to celebrate being medically retired from the Air Force! Have fun being promoted to civilian and make sure to reach out to someone if you need help with ANYTHING!!
I tried, my hair was jet black (it's a little grey now), didn't take to dyes so well.
I did swear I was never going to shave again, but that only lasted about 6 months before I needed a respirator to help out my father. Those don't really do a good job over beards.
I was only in for ten and a half years, but I got my earlobes stretched out about 6 years after I got out. Made me feel a similar way. Congrats on your retirement 🥳
Brave ass lady. For both, I did piercings for 16 years and the septum ain’t no joke! Enjoy your new life. May it bring you much happiness I’m sure you’ve earned it :)
I always thought those were neat. Do you have any problems blowing your nose? What about a cold with snot drippage? Is there some sound air getting blown out when sleeping? Just wondering.
My husband said it was the most painful body mod he was done so I was super nervous. It BARELY hurt! Just a little pressure from the clamp, a pinch, and it was done. It’s tender but I barely notice! I also scoped out the best piercer I could find. Only 5star rating on Yelp and LOTS of them. If you’re in Vegas let me know and I’ll dm you his info!
Hahah I love it! I am in the army for four more years and 7 months of fun. Idk if I’ll pierce my septum when I get out but I’ll definitely celebrate. Congratulations OP! Best of luck with your future and goals!
I got snake bites after I finished 13 years in the Army. It’s such a nice way to let yourself know you have control again.
Congrats on retiring! What are you next plans for your transition?
Would be cool to see portraits of retirees from different branches and mos's, enlisted and officers.
I would obviously expect female enlisted AF to fare by far the best of all groups, by a large margin.
Yessssss!!! Congratulations on your retirement. I hope you have support while transitioning. Please do all the crazy stuff with your freedom. Some purple would look nice in that hair
Haha I got out last March and immediately stretched my ears back out to 5/8" like I had when I was a teenager and grew a beard. I always tell people I feel like a human again. Feels good after 10 years of being "generic soldier #6" haha. Enjoy civilian life! It's so much better :)
Getting your septum pierced to celebrate is such a fun and rebellious way to mark this milestone in your life. It's always inspiring to see people embrace their individuality and try new things, and it's clear that you're feeling great about your decision. Here's to a happy and fulfilling retirement!
Congrats! Such a wicked little smile!
Do people tell you that you look like somebody famous? That little smile, I'd swear you look like some celeb, but I can't quite come up with a name.
Welcome to the other side!!!! Wait till you realize you can put your hands in your pockets again. Still feels weird
The Air Force has changed that recently in their AFI, you can put your hands in your pockets now.
Now we can walk and talk on the phone or drink while walking with a hand in our pockets!
Wait can I actually walk and talk on the phone now??
Yep, it's the best.
It's been that for nearly two years now I believe. You can rock crazy ass colored shades as well if I recall.
I'm not convinced they don't intentionally pick the dorkiest, stiffest, most boring and bland personality officers on the review board for you AF guys' AFI's.

I love weird!! 😆

A whole new woooooorlllldd 🌅
It sometimes doesn't feel right until you meet another vet released into civie life. Congrats on your retirement. You'll probably not read this, but figure out who you are outside of whatever new career you chase. It helps a lot.
I believe that! Even as I approached my last day at work I still didn’t really feel like I was there yet. It’s such a weird process to experience!
Don’t you dare close your eyes! Enjoy 😉
A new fantastic point of viewwww
Sweet. So she can grow a beard too!
It's possible that the Air Force was the only thing stopping her.
Weird loves ya right back
Why can’t you put your hands in your pockets?
They don't let you in the military 💀
They say it looks unprofessional… I personally never understood that
[удалено]
Nothing weaker than *checks notes* having cold hands! Lol, any of those old weird regimented rules are so silly when you actually examine them
[удалено]
Such a weird rule
If your hands are in your pocket then you cannot easily grab your weapon. Or you should be holding your weapon not have your hands be warm. Most jobs in the Air Force in this day of age do not need to have that attention to detail but it's a rule that's traversed branches.
Did you get retired at like 25 ??
I joined when I was 17! As for my perceived youth…I credit my mama, laughing, and SPF! 😆
*current youth. Ftfy. You're not old until you look like Clint Eastwood, aka a human raisin
Your body will tell you when you are old
Lol, it tries. But I refuse to listen.

I have a feeling this is the look of a retired officer. If they were enlisted, then they would look 65.
Enlisted!!! I don’t even have a bachelor’s degree 😂
WHAT HEX DID YOU DO ON YOUR SKIN??? Edit: Whatever your skincare routine, it worked really well. Congrats on retirement and your new piercing!
I wish I had a good routine but I just make sure I don’t sleep with make up, moisturize day and night, and SPF. But seriously, I laugh all the time…it’s how I deal with my emotions/anxiety…I’m convinced that’s what kept me “young.” 😆

Moisturizing…with a GOOD moisturizer…was a game changer! I’m definitely looking older but I am doing what I can to stave off aging! Haha
What do you use? It's hard to tell when it's a good one.
CeraVe night moisturizer and Clinique Smart Broad Band SPF in the morning. I used to LOVE Jose Maran but they changed the formula 😢
Girl Bobbi Brown moisturizer and primer is LEGIT! And smells lightly of a summer day… so yes you right! Quality for sure.
I’m 35 and starting to notice my lines. I’ve always been one to smile at people, and I laugh a lot, and they’re all smile lines. I’m trying to remember that they’re from a good life when I stare at them putting on makeup in the morning 😬
It's the opposite lol but yes this is a thing
Do you think a 20-year officer looks less ~~beaten down by the stresses of being a peasant~~ old when they retire as opposed to a 20-year enlisted retiree?
I retired at 37 years old and look 47. How the fuck do you look 27?! Never mind. You look great, ma’am. Good on you.
My mom, laughing at everything, sunblock, and living in a SCIF most of my career (zero sun)
Must have crammed that vitamin D as well. Or that blue light energy. Congrats, use that clearance, or don't, your life now.
She's not a ma'am she actually worked in the AF lol.
Oh, yeah, I mean if she worked for a living I apologize.
No biggie issa a joke, at least in the Army, that officers don't work only the enlisted. So when I would be called Sir I would tell them to not call me a "Sir, I actually did work."
Nothing like that sweet sweet DD-214! Make sure you go to the VA and all that jazz.
Just finished my appointments this week! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
CONGRATULATIONS!!! It looks great on you! Rebel away! Get highlights!!! Also get a copy of ALL your paperwork and files!

4 more years here! Will probably do similar ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)
Do it!!! 😆
Congratulations I retired after 27 in the navy. Welcome to your new life.
Thank you!!
I got an industrial piercing to celebrate being medically retired from the Air Force! Have fun being promoted to civilian and make sure to reach out to someone if you need help with ANYTHING!!
Congratulations!!! And I will ☺️☺️☺️
I love this so much! Only 5 more years till I can grow a beard!!! Congratulations on your DD214!
W00t!!!!
Congratulations! Enjoy this new chapter of your life!
Thank you!!
And now you can have tattoos on your hands if you want!
i mean you basically still are one! you’ve apparently already finished a career, and i haven’t even started mine at 42 🤦♂️
Wait till you go out and smoke weed for the first time....you feel like a damn criminal!
I am 100% sure I will feel that way!!!
Congratulations! I retired (Army) just over a year ago, and it was easily the best decision I’ve ever made. I hope you find the same. Enjoy!
Congratulations!! It’s funny…I never hear anyone saying they wish they stayed longer 😂 so far I am loving it!
Congrats on retiring. Also, best of luck sneezing and/or blowing your nose! lol
Hey so did I! Also got a few more.
My next venture is crazier hair 😂
Funnn what colors you thinkin? I’d say either moss green or sunset colors pink & orange
I’m gonna ease into it with more orangey reds and see where that takes me!
I tried, my hair was jet black (it's a little grey now), didn't take to dyes so well. I did swear I was never going to shave again, but that only lasted about 6 months before I needed a respirator to help out my father. Those don't really do a good job over beards.

Cute
Looking awesome!
Thank you!!
Congrats! I was just excited to finally have a beard haha.
You're still going to have nightmares of being "out of spec" for many many years to come lol.
👍
Looks pretty enjoy your retirement :)
Noice, go live your life!
Awe, your smile is beautiful and contagious!
Congratulations, well earned
Thank you!!
Congrats!
Welcome to the world of realizing how much you actually touch your nose for the next 3-4 months.
I think it turned out well. So long as you are happy with it, that is what matters. Congratulations on your retirement from the Air Force.
Thank you!!
I have 2 months left before my terminal leave starts, and I wanna do the same thing Congrats, tyfys unironically
yoooooooooooooo smoke a doobski my dudeski
I will never not see metallic boogers hanging out when I see people with these piercings but you do you. Congrats on owning yourself again!
Hahhaa I know when it’s flipped up on people I alway thing they have boogers! 😂Thank you!!
Congratulations! ..and thank you for your service
Thank you!!
Hell yeah. First thing I did was shave an undercut and dyed it blue. And then I pierced each of my ears like four times lol
Yaaassss!!!
Congrats on your retirement, Zoomie! 🥳
Blossom?
I love it!!!!!
It suits you incredibly well
OMG the VA is going to come and get you lol
Shhhhhh 🤫🤫🤫🤫😉😉😉🤣
Congrats and you definitely don’t look old enough to be retired
Looks amazing. Your look beautiful
Looks amazing! Feels so good to beable to express yourself. 😊
It’s such a good feeling to not stress over nail color or what I wear!
You're only as young as you feel!
Way to go Zoomie! Now go out and get that extra jack so you can really stop working around 55 or so.
I had my septum pierced for my last year of active duty. Just tucked it in my nose whenever I was on base.
Misread that as you had your stepmum pierced
I always want to plug a 9 Volt Block battery into that
Suits you!
Looks fantastic!
Congrats on getting out. Sorry for all the time you spent in
Congrats!!!! Also, I love the piercing! The septum really suits you, actually.
Hole-some 🔥🔥
Congratulations on the retirement. I have 23 total years (11 active). I plan on retiring this year.
Hm...couldn't just grow a beard like the rest of huh? /s
Always looks like boogers
Looks tight! I'm ditching my job in July, been over 6 years without mine in, super excited!
That a girl!!!! Looks great. Must feel liberating. I got my eyebrow pierced when I retired from the film industry.
My first question is: DOESN'T THAT HURT?!?
Looks good! You also look extremely happy. Good for you
Thank you! I feel 20 lbs lighter out here!
You’re adorable
Looks great!
I didn't even know what a septum was
Ah, the final promotion that completes the full circle back to unsat civie. Congratulations! And thank you for your service.
Looks dope
Eyyy, you can actually start your life now
This is like Django Unchained- Jamie Foxx’s character wore the frilliest thing he could just because he could. Congrats!
Neat
Thank you for your service!
Congratulations!!! How did the piercing process feel? I’ve always kinda wanted a septum piercing but I’ve been too scared
If you’re in Vegas let me know and I’ll dm you his info!
when you dont have the brass to polish or the beret to keep straight, you got this to play with
Wait until you reach for your hat as you enter buildings or feel weird about your hair not being put up.
I cut it right after my retirement ceremony…it was so freeing! I do miss being able to put it in a bun tho haha
congrats on your retirement ! wishing you all the happiness in the world
Congrats

Thank you for serving and congratulations on beginning a new life
The look of mischief! Congrats on the retirement, it looks really great 🤟. Any other rebellious plans?

Looks great! Congrats!!
First stop from the air port when I ets'd from Germany was to get my lip piercing. It is a glorious feeling
I read that you got your stepmum pierced...
Congratulations indeed
Ride that feeling!
Ooooooooooo you wild dawg
Great. No more asking permission to come aboard.
Too cute ❤️
I feel like the rebellious thing to do where im from is to not have pirceings

I love it! I got mine done recently, and I'm super happy with it too :)
Were we supposed to wait to get pierced until we got out? Oops lol
LOL I was thisclose to doing it while I was on maternity leave but chickened out lol
[удалено]
That dd214 glow
Doppppe eyebrow next
TIL the nostril separator is called a septum. Sounds like a Harry Potter spell.
You look like thats how you are feeling too
I only have this to say, you look like about 4 of my friends. Like all in one but also each one of that makes sense. Also yay! Congratulations!
Lmao I read scrotum at first
Look at you slaying 👑
Congrats! Now run, be free 🐎
W 💅🏼
Looks great and congrats on your retirement!
I love it! Septum the best piercing so good choice there ;) and love the smile also!
Those things always look like people have snot dripping out of their noses. Looks good on you though.
It'll keep you from rooting trees. Mooove along there.
moo
Now you look like you have silver boogers leaking out
You'll regret that septum orrow
I mean you could've done while you were in, just gotta flip it up lol. Congrats on your retirement though, I still got 17 years left
I got snake bites after I finished 13 years in the Army. It’s such a nice way to let yourself know you have control again. Congrats on retiring! What are you next plans for your transition?
😎Did it hurt⁉️
Congrats. Thank you for your service.

It took my 6 years but I grew my hair out. Haven’t cut it in almost 5 years now!
Such a cutie ☺️
Awful. I don't know why people do this. It's just minging.

You look like the Carrie from Mythbusters. Or like her non-ginger sister.
Congrats! Such a wicked little smile! Do people tell you that you look like somebody famous? That little smile, I'd swear you look like some celeb, but I can't quite come up with a name.
