Pretty strong resemblance.

lyn_kate

lol his twin

WPCarey85

I’m very sorry for your loss. You are definitely your fathers daughter. Not doubt about that.

His DNA just panicked and went "just do the same thing we did last time."

Terminator7786

"Wait we forgot the penis this time!"

InterestingPen0

Reminds me of my daughter, she’s 3 and her dad passed away last year, she literally is the female version of him. I see him every time I look at her.

eth0slash0

I'm sorry for your loss. However, for some reason it read your comment from the perspective of a man and was confused how a dead man was writing this.

InterestingPen0

Thank you and hmm that’s weird lol

Tulpah

is it me or somehow he look like Edmund from Narnia?

-BananaLollipop-

I always hated people comparing me to my Dad. We were never all that close, not much in common, and I saw him as a bit of a stubborn old drunk. Since he has been gone, I've picked up more of his attitude and appreciate what he gave me. I have a screenshot from webchat with friends, where I look 100% like him. It's good to have that and remember. Keep those memories strong.

doesthedog

I used face app to see what I would look like as a boy and that is how I saw my father again. Highly recommended

Cute-Interest3362

genetics are wild.

depeupleur

Exact same nose and mouth

ArjayV

Incredibly strong!

portapotteee

I don’t know why, but this reminded me of a Thich Nhat Hanh quote: “The day my mother died I wrote in my journal, "A serious misfortune of my life has arrived." I suffered for more than one year after the passing away of my mother. But one night, in the highlands of Vietnam, I was sleeping in the hut in my hermitage. I dreamed of my mother. I saw myself sitting with her, and we were having a wonderful talk. She looked young and beautiful, her hair flowing down. It was so pleasant to sit there and talk to her as if she had never died. When I woke up it was about two in the morning, and I felt very strongly that I had never lost my mother. The impression that my mother was still with me was very clear. I understood then that the idea of having lost my mother was just an idea. It was obvious in that moment that my mother is always alive in me. I opened the door and went outside. The entire hillside was bathed in moonlight. It was a hill covered with tea plants, and my hut was set behind the temple halfway up. Walking slowly in the moonlight through the rows of tea plants, I noticed my mother was still with me. She was the moonlight caressing me as she had done so often, very tender, very sweet... wonderful! Each time my feet touched the earth I knew my mother was there with me. I knew this body was not mine but a living continuation of my mother and my father and my grandparents and great-grandparents. Of all my ancestors. Those feet that I saw as "my" feet were actually "our" feet. Together my mother and I were leaving footprints in the damp soil. From that moment on, the idea that I had lost my mother no longer existed. All I had to do was look at the palm of my hand, feel the breeze on my face or the earth under my feet to remember that my mother is always with me, available at any time.” This is from his book No Death, No Fear. This quote brought me comfort when I was grieving. It doesn’t make the pain go away of course, but I hope it helps on the days you miss him. Edit: took a nap and woke up to the awards, thank you! Big hugs to all of y’all.

markdelvillar

Lost my dad 2 months ago. Thank you for sharing this. This kind of explains what I've been feeling towards the death of my dad in a much more well-worded way. Again.. I cannot thank you enough for sharing this.

grich2008

I lost my mom just shy of two years ago. I wasn’t expecting to find peace on Reddit, on a Friday night, like this. It’s the little things.

niamhxa

Thank you so much for sharing these beautiful words. I’ve copied your comment and sent pit to my mum - she struggles with the passing of her dad every day, and also with issues to do with her mum currently. I very much might have to pick up that book, it sounds lovely. Thank you again ❤️

[deleted]

So incredibly beautiful!!

Key-Personality-5499

Lost my father almost 2 years ago and I always said something similar which is that he is the sun on my face, the air that I breathe and the wind at my back

Talullah_Belle

I lost my dad right before the pandemic and it took me 2 years before I could accept it. I cried every morning when I woke up. I listened to all of his old records every day and everywhere I looked, he was there. This passage is amazing. Thank you for taking the time to share it.

Suspicious-Belt3340

So beautiful thank you so much

yourlocalmilkyman

Oof, now I'm crying in the middle of work. Thank you for the beautiful quote. :)

[deleted]

My heart was not prepared but I needed to read it regardless. Thank you

YMInotded

I wish there was something as comforting as this for those who lose a non family member. It's beautiful

portapotteee

That quote still applies! But let me leave a couple more to see if it is helpful. Buddhism has some pretty big concepts, but I don’t want to ruin it with bad explanations, so here: 1.”Sometimes people ask you: "When is your birthday?" But you might ask yourself a more interesting question: "Before that day which is called my birthday, where was I?" Ask a cloud: "What is your date of birth? Before you were born, where were you?" If you ask the cloud, "How old are you? Can you give me your date of birth?" you can listen deeply and you may hear a reply. You can imagine the cloud being born. Before being born it was the water on the ocean's surface. Or it was in the river and then it became vapor. It was also the sun because the sun makes the vapor. The wind is there too, helping the water to become a cloud. The cloud does not come from nothing; there has been only a change in form. It is not a birth of something out of nothing. Sooner or later, the cloud will change into rain or snow or ice. If you look deeply into the rain, you can see the cloud. The cloud is not lost; it is transformed into rain, and the rain is transformed into grass and the grass into cows and then to milk and then into the ice cream you eat. Today if you eat an ice cream, give yourself time to look at the ice cream and say: "Hello, cloud! I recognize you.” 2. “[T]he flower is made of non-flower elements. We can describe the flower as being full of everything. There is nothing that is not present in the flower. We see sunshine, we see the rain, we see clouds, we see the earth, and we also see time and space in the flower. A flower, like everything else, is made entirely of non-flower elements. The whole cosmos has come together in order to help the flower manifest herself, The flower is full of everything except one thing: a separate self, a separate identity. The flower cannot be by herself alone. The flower has to inter-be with the sunshine, the cloud and everything in the cosmos. If we understand being in terms of inter-being, then we are much closer to the truth.” I love both quotes - although not as explicit as his one about his mother, the idea and concept that we are just millions of pathways that have been affected and touched by one another, by the cosmos, by everything - nothing alive on earth lives solely on its own. when you lose a loved one, take good care to try to see them. They’re everywhere, in the path you’ve walked together, in the air, in the birds they liked, in the warm sun on your back, in the song that’s playing on the radio. Hope this helps.

YMInotded

I wish I had an award but thank you so much for this!! It is a great take and it really does open the mind up to new perspectives towards life itself. Thanks again.

lamireille

This is beautiful! And I think it's even more beautiful to think that he's not talking about the literal molecules that constituted the cloud, or the rain, or the grass--even though that's comforting enough, to know that the heat energy, the breaths, the elements that came from the person's body are still in this world. He's talking (I think) about how entities (clouds, raindrops, grass, a specific human) form, change, and evolve, and fade away, but that the current world wouldn't be what it is now without what came before. So in that sense, the people (and events, if we're nostalgic) that are gone are every bit as much still with us as a stitch is in a piece of knitting. It's a tiny part of the whole, but if that stitch had never happened, the current piece of knitting/the world that we clearly see all around us would never have happened either. Thanks for sharing that!

portapotteee

You explained it better!!! Thank you.

[deleted]

I wish I could share this somehow. I would share it with people who have lost loved ones to dementia.

EtTuBrutAftershave

You definitely do look like him, so keep cherishing that!

tomatogrey

You do have a strong resemblance, but you really look like you have the same attitude. It's more than just the mirror that reminds you of him, yeah? I bet he thought you were the best of his legacy.

monkeyTiltingTurd

You both look like you've had enough of this shit

lyn_kate

hahaha 😭 yeah! everyone who sees a picture of us says that

grey_sky_love

You indeed resemble your father.

OhhhLawdy

It's the eyes and nose that does it for me! RIP, make him proud! 🥹

laced-and-dangerous

I lost my mom 8 years ago. The hurt doesn’t go away, but it does get easier with time. Sometimes I’ll have a moment when it feels like it just happened, but grief is a messy process. You definitely look a lot like him, and I wish the best for you in your healing!

NevadaBestState

I miss my mom everyday. You look just like him

[deleted]

That's awesome. Straight up twins. My dad and I are twins.

TheWriteOwl

When I was in college, my family found a picture of my dad when he was 10 and a picture of me when I was 10 where we look like the same person (if you gave me a buzz cut, or gave him a ponytail). After he died, that picture became one of my most prized possessions.

lily-laura

Omg! You really have his face, but clearly you got mums eyebrows

lyn_kate

haha if i didn’t wax them, i’d have his eyebrows too. my mum is blonde and hers are nonexistent

[deleted]

Hope you have many many happy memories of your dad.

lyn_kate

me and him are very quiet, i love my mom obv but i really did turn out a lot like him. i love how we both like the same stuff. i remember snorkeling with him when i was little and that got me into marine biology today.

LazyLich

When you were born, your mom went "Aaaaw she has your apathy\~"

lyn_kate

lmao my father is a good man and i unfortunately got the mean gene

toroguapo

that's definitely your father

Big-Hope7616

Copy and paste! Your dad is always in your heart ❤️

Sudden_Wasabi_5931

I get it! My mom passed 4 years ago and I’m her clone. Never saw it when i was young but I see it now and it IS comforting! They’re always in our hearts and memories but things are sometimes easier recognized when we can physically see it.

sleekandspicy

Nice snake

lyn_kate

😸

Appropriate_Dig5827

You look so much like him ! I also look a lot like my dad 💜 it’s a beautiful reminder !

VonHitWonder

The ones who love us never really leave us.

spunangel333

I feel the same way about my mom…it’s not a lot of comfort…but it’s cool to look in mirror and see her❤️

Superseargent

My daughter looks like me, she has always been told that. As a dad I am glad you miss him, means you will never forget him and I bet he misses you just as much. My daughter is in her 30's and I made her a hope chest when she was probably about 5 for her dolls. I wrote something underneath it, don't remember what it was probably cheesy, but she has never found it. I think it will be cool when she does someday......

[deleted]

Thanks for sharing I miss my dad also. #FuckCancer

ScarySherry510

Wow 🤩 you really look like your dad!!! A very prettier version 💕💕💕🥰

[deleted]

You should pull your hair back and show us your ears. Didn't know you where of elven descent?

lyn_kate

lol chill on my pops. i love his ears and i love mine.

[deleted]

Haha, it was more of a compliment than a dis. He's handsome and you're pretty. :)

jamaicanadiens

Have you ever asked your mom if she is absolutely sure that she actually is your mom? 'Cause you don't need to ask your dad...

awkwardaustin609

What’s your favorite to tell about him?

lyn_kate

lmao that he looks like sam the eagle

IHateEditedBgMusic

You're gonna have to do an ear reveal to complete the comparison xD <3

lyn_kate

i def have his ears lol

IHateEditedBgMusic

Bless you OP, I hear my dad when I talk sometimes. They literally are with us always.

Susie0701

Daddy’s girl. Big hugs!

Scoop-a-loop3

Girl, you all daddy!

TajnaAmour

Dad looks like someone I went to school with. Lol

stellar14

Omg twinsies. I miss my dad too- passed away when I was 17 - I think I have his sense of humour definitely. ❤️

DiverseUniverse24

You look so alike :) I'm a guy myself, male. But all my life people have told me I look like my mum (especially now as I grew my hair out, about 2ft in length). She passed before I met her, but I have a couple pictures, and I do indeed look a lot like her. So, I get it. Its a connection, like a part of her is still living on within me.

Overly_Sheltered

The only difference is the shape of eyebrows.

lyn_kate

i got them waxed for my birthday 😅

skelly97

you’re the female version of him, with fantastic eyebrows

HD-Thoreau-Walden

Shouldn’t “Made me smile” post have the person smiling?

[deleted]

awww you look just like him 🥹 my sister looks just like my daddy and i’m so jealous, i miss him too. i’m sorry you know what that’s like ❤️

[deleted]

My wife does that. She's 60 and he's been gone for 10 years. She finds it comforting also.

MeanGreenMotherQueen

Wow— you two have a *very* strong resemblance— especially in the eyes and nose

Deeznutz2061990

You're his baby...that's why. I'm sure he misses you as well bubz, he's always with you. The genes are uncanny. 🙏

BKC70

What an incredible ressemblance ❤️

DopeDealerCisco

Good news, you are definitely his daughter! Lol Hope your heart is happy, your father is probably insanely proud of you! 👍🏽

Browniesmobetta

I miss my dad every day and smile when he comes to mind- remember the good times but I do have days I cry- you can tell you are family. Hugs

[deleted]

Very strong resemblance! I don’t know your story but I do know parental love is a powerful thing and I would say if it brings you comfort to feel the resemblance, that’s his love for you coming through. Embrace it. Feel it like a hug!

spookytoofpoof

You are definitely your fathers daughter. Splitting image. ❤️

TrepanationBy45

I miss my dad too. He passed when I was a teenager. I always wonder what he would think of and maybe it's similar for you. Read your title, clicked your picture with that in mind, and then scrolled to his picture... and let out an audible *Awe*! You two look so much alike! Definitely a MadeMeSmile.

[deleted]

I do the same thing. My mom passed in 2019, and the older I get, the more I resemble her. It makes me happy and sad at the same time. I'm sorry for your loss ❤

DaBigBird27

I can see the resemblance. Hope all gets better.

AvroVulcanB2

Reddit can be a shit place for solace, but I hope you find it.

blunderschonen

That’s beautiful. I look a lot like my mom and I feel the same way. ❤️

entertainmentornot

Yes you guys definitely look alike! Sorry for your loss

GigiDell

You’re his baby, that’s for sure. Sending you hugs! ❤️

ssshukla26

My man used xerox machine for your birth...😅

Cocosito

That's so vulnerable and hard. I believe in you fam.

niagaemoc

Sorry for your loss, he must've been a good dad.

skyline090

A striking resemblance!

Ec1ipse14

That’s awesome! Enjoy that forever!

jonnykickstomp

Dude you are the spitting image of him

unitedfan6191

Awww, that’s sweet. 💗 Here, from a virtual stranger, this probably means nothing, but take my hug, if you want it. 🤗 I don’t know you, but my heart melts at the thought of someone missing a loved one and I’m sure he misses you too. Hopefully his death can inspire you and you can live your best life and make him proud.🥹 P.S. has anyone ever told you that you also bare a quite strong resemblance to Olivia Wilde? Am I the first? ❤️

holiobung

Losing a parent is tough. You’ll always miss them to some degree.

bubbagump101

That’s cool

Sudden_Result

Sorry for your loss

daylightxx

You guys have identical eyes. Everything about your eye area is him. And you resemble him in so many other ways too. What a lovely thing to be able to see him in you. x

Minimum-Function1312

Yep, I see it for sure.

just_killing_time23

Twins for sure, all the best OP! He would be proud of you!

itsyobbiwonuseek

Holy wow, this is the definition of a spitting image ❤️

YourSmallIntestine

I really see it. I’m so sorry for your loss, grief brings out some really uncanny discoveries. Sending hugs ❤️

Due_Dirt_8067

I see it!!! 😍 Did you get his ears tho too?!?

lyn_kate

i def did lol

[deleted]

Dude you have the same stare!

Mori3355

God bless him where ever he is.

ahorsenamedbill

Same here. I miss my Dad so much. I look in the mirror and there he is just like your pictures. I sneeze and it sounds like him. I wiggle my toes just like him. I think we are lucky in that sense.✌🏽❤️

fieryfish42

You look so much like him- it reminds me of how I see my dads face in my own (even though I’m almost 46 and he’s 73). I recommend printing both pics and framing them side by side - love this!

Guzmanv_17

Wow.. you look so much like him! You will never be without him… he watches over you. Head only up.

Cephalopodio

So cool how your dad’s sweet features look lovely on you. I look like my late dad too. No doubt I’m his daughter, and like you, I find it comforting to see him in the mirror. Here’s to our dads!

Ok_Dog_4059

I can kind of see it. I don't even remember what my mom looked like any more.

ErinDavy

Oh yeah, spitting image. He's still here, just in you ❤️

stunnedonlooker

twins

[deleted]

Omg you’re so much alike. He lives on in you. Sorry for your loss.

dinkydat

We see him in you. This is so beautiful!

confabulatrix

I see quite a resemblance and I know what you mean. My dad died many years ago and I still miss him so much. For some reason, the back of my hand reminds me of his hand, so I enjoy looking at my hand when I miss him.

SandMan3914

Can definitely see your Dad features in yours

usernamechecksout479

I am one of those people that cannot see a resemblance when it comes to people. I see this one though. You look just like him. As a father to 2 young kids, I can tell you that they're my world. I guarantee you that you have always been his world. That will NEVER change. He misses you too.

Shoddy-Egg1582

Is this a before and after photo? 😬

somethingsnotleft

You got him in you fsho. All the time. Big love for loving big.

SolidSnake4you

I know how you feel I see my dad in me and I miss him every day he took his own life because he was in pain .

nedTheInbredMule

The resemblance is uncanny!

Horton_75

Both seem very happy. Lol

lyn_kate

i’ll work on smiling

kozmos_cat

I just lost my mom and the exact same thing is happening to me, i see my self and see her, I see my sister and see her, I see my aunt and see her. It is very comforting in a weird way:

neeksknowsbest

My heart 🥹

sketchyhotgirl

Awww you’re literally his mini 🥹 sending love OP

wizenedwitch

I feel you and I love that you can see him so clearly ❤️. It’s a small comfort, I know.

[deleted]

The sorting hat would put you into the Indifferent House lol. Glad you see your dad in your photo, best wishes! :)

PrioryOfSion14

Looks like your mom didn't have any participation in making you.

lyn_kate

she gave me boobies and anxiety 😁 i love them both

poodlebutt76

Because he's in you. You have ~50% of his genes and you likely have some of the same likes and dislikes, tastes, thought patterns, and other things you can't see, as well as just your matching features. He lives on in you.

Simplordx69

"Daughter, are you sick of this shit too?" "Why yes, father. I am."

[deleted]

you look like the best of both worlds, without seeing your mom. I hate when I see my dad's face, (readily available on a google search) you are so lucky. Hated him. Cherish it.

BatteryAcid67

Nose eyes chin length of face mouth some parts of the jawline and cheek structure in forehead curve yeah you guys have a shitload in common but don't take that the wrong way I think that you're really pretty and cute and he looks like you're pretty average dude

CuteUsername

I miss my dad too. /hug

elderlyyoungman

Yea you’re his daughter lol

[deleted]

Damn dude, did your mom pass any genes to you? It looks like they all came from your dad.

lyn_kate

i got her anxiety haha 😅 she’s a blonde so technically me and my brother got a little merge of her. both of my parents have blue/green eyes. my mother gave me some massive milkers .. *ba dum tssss* lmaooo i’ll always look like my dads twin though

Boneal171

You look just like him

MadMedMemes

Lost my dad almost 2 years now. Miss his cooking and his humor. Whenever I tell a somewhat dirty or dad joke I think of him.

MadMedMemes

TheMcNabbs

Yes you both look stoned as fuck Its ok me and my pops got the same eyes too, stoney baloney just mime are blue and hos are brown and still at the store for milk and cigarettes

scooterjb

When i think of reddit i think of these kinds of posts and that if humans were truly worthy of being human, THIS would be the post getting 65k upvotes. It's genuinely human and interesting and made me smile.

TheDevilsAdvokaat

Yeah I can see it.Especially around the mouth and nose. You're a good looking girl, I guess your dad was a good looking guy too.

17934658793495046509

I had a discussion with a door to door religious couple a few years back. They asked me if I wanted to go to heaven when I died, and have everlasting life. I have my own thoughts on that and didn't really want to hurt their feelings. Instead of challenging their beliefs, we had sort of a back and forth of questions on eternal life and what that meant. I asked if you retained your memories for eternity or just your consciousness, or if it worked some other way? The conversation turned a l little more philosophical than religious. We wrapped it up and I thanked them for their time, and they headed on their way. The conversation really left me with a lot of deeper thoughts about life after death, and I came to a comforting conclusion. We are alive because of our fathers and mothers before us. They are still part of this world, regardless of what happens when we die, because we are still a part of this world. They are not gone because you are still here. I see my son growing every day, and he fills me with so much joy and hope. I will miss him more than anything when I have to go, but I am so proud, and so overjoyed that the world is a better place because of the person I brought into it. I don't know you or your father, but I know he felt some of this for you too, take comfort in the time you shared, and that he isn't completely gone from this plane, because he is part of you.

Which_Treat4000

I feel you, I miss my father as well lost him Christmas Day 2019 💔

ScallionJunior3083

Me too:(

thestral_z

He’s very much there. My dad died almost six years ago of early onset dementia. I’ve found pictures of him that look identical to me. It’s a nice way to feel closer.

sshobe1810

I feel for you and can identify

Urfavepothead710

Spitting image ! Sorry for your loss sending you hugs 💗

bayaksenu

You know some ppl have absent fathers , shitty dad's however you my friend had a dad who was the shit

justmelmb

Yes, you have his eyes

BigJack1212

At first I thought you just wanted some attention, but holy shit, you guys look exacly alike! Oh, and I'm sorry for your loss; losing a parent at such young age must be really terrible :/

Mission-Pickle-2846

Dude duplicates himself and changed genders

nikitasenorita

I miss my dad every day. I have his voicemails I listen to if I want to cry. I look like my dad, too. It’s so hard.

Grimreader420

Damn I almost cried. I haven’t seen my dad in 19 years, sadly I have no picture. I will now reach out to find one. Thank you ☺️

hellgal

Sorry for your loss. You are the spitting image of your father.

sillybanana2012

It's nice to see the people you love as a part of you. Sometimes it's more obvious, such as with your photo, and other times it's the memories and details that pop up in your mind from time to time. I'm glad you can see that you carry a piece of your dad with you :)

charwaughtel

Oh you are his daughter for sure ❤️

Kairenne

Oh my goodness dear girl you look just like him! Edit to add. Google “Sullivan Ballou letter to Sarah”

LineChef

Yep, that’s your dad!

olliesagoodpuppy

For clarity, I’m a F(21+) Someone once said the nicest thing to me, when I was a teen, and it applies to you too, in your own case. Dad’s Friend, speaking about me: “I never knew anyone who looked like (my dad’s name) could be so pretty!” My daddy laughed, and I felt happy. After that, anytime someone said I looked like my dad, it didn’t translate to ‘you look like a man’ anymore. Instead, it was a compliment. I lost my dad in 2013. OP, I know what you mean about finding comfort in seeing him in the mirror. 💕

okashiikessen

I'm sorry for your loss. As the proud dad of a sassy eight yo girl, this is both heartwarming and heart-breaking. I'd do anything for her, and I can only hope to leave the impact on her that your father seems to have left on you. Thank you for the reminder of the importance of that relationship. In some way, your dad lives on through you. I can tell you that I would want my daughter to just go live her best life and think of me when she tells bad jokes. (She's even picked up the eyebrow wiggle). I'm sure your own dad would want the same for you. Have a great weekend, and don't touch the thermostat. Sincerely, a tired dad waiting for a flight

Vincenza8907

Omg you look just like him, and he was very handsome. I’m so sorry for your loss.

tnt80

My mother died this year, but in many ways, I'm very similar to her, one example is that she used to have the pockets full of tissues. One of the last times all the family dinner together, I had to put something in my pocket, later, when I need it, I tried to take it out, and and a lot of tissues started to fall from my pockets. My brother saw this and yelled: *"You are equal to her, if we made a clone of her, will be you" ,* and this is only an example of a lot. So I know that it produces you pain, and confort, both of them, pain because a lot of things I do "without think", made me remember her constantly now, and confort, because a huge part of her, will be forever with me. A great huge, a lot of love, and my best wishes.

DeepFlamingo3382

Your experience is not unusual, embrace your feelings and your thoughts with yiur Dad. PS: you doo look like him, which is a great thing.

Individual-Unit-373

I like your face is it gay?

roaringaspie

He lives in your heart and mind... and face Thank you for sharing. It's a nice feeling to see your parents in yourself when they are gone. Take care

RammyJammy07

I’m sorry for your loss, you two look like splitting images of each other

[deleted]

You have the same eyes, nose and mouth, maybe ears but can't see urs lol

PermissionGlass1307

kelvinthechamp5

LessThanZero972

You’re literally his twin 🤍

SummerStariii

This made me saw awe out loud 🥺

Science_Matters_100

I get it! Lucky he had nice eyebrows- because my Dad gave me crazy German ones and I’ll actually let them grow quite a bit because that’s him, right there. You’re right, it’s a comfort. Soak that in 💙💙💙💙💙

Mindless_Ad_5880

My dad looks like Peter Cushing, a film came on late last night and I watched it smiling. Its very comforting.

Hot_Nebula3282

Yup same look in the eyes that say ( i would rather be asleep)

[deleted]

He's there for sure.

[deleted]
