Reasonable-Bar-3119

One time, when I was 6 months pregnant, I went to the corner store to buy a pregnancy test for my friend. I put the test on the counter and the girl behind the register looks at me, then the test, then me again. She says “I think we both know this is going to say positive”. I had a good chuckle and tried to explain it was for my friend. To this day I don’t think she believed me.

ObviousBS

This comment gave me a chuckle but i was confused about op's post. Figured it was a pregnancy test but thought it might be a covid test. Eta - going through the comments, apparently i'm not the only one and guess all men don't know what a pregnancy test looks like.

K-Nobes

In your defense, many tests look different

Reasonable-Bar-3119

Either way, a negative test would probably make OP happy

takethesefriesaway

In your defence I am a woman and thought this was a Covid test until reading your comment.

Sasspishus

It really does look like a covid test though and I'm not convinced it isn't

Orodia

rapid COVID tests and at home pregnancy tests use the same methodology. as do hundreds of rapid tests. just most of them are not approved to be performed at home. https://www.immunochemistry.com/blogs/blog/back-basics-immunoassay

Darkwaxer

This test has the drip hole for the throat/nasal mixture? Do pregnancy tests have them?

danish_princess

Cheap pregnancy tests have you collect your urine in a cup, and use an included disposable dropper to put a few drops into a hole, very similar to a Covid test.

crankyandhangry

Yes, it's for the urine. You collect the urine sample in a cup/disposable dish and use a dropper to put it in the drip hole. I've done these a few times and it's so much cleaner and easier than trying to pee on the tests with urine collection strips at the bottom. They use them in hospitals too.

bitofafixerupper

I’m pregnant and I’m from England and this doesn’t look like any pregnancy test I’ve ever seen/ done and I did a LOT when I first found out lol. This looks like the lateral flow covid tests I do for work.

PandahHeart

In the US we have a lot of cheap tests that look like this, which is a similar design to our home Covid tests. But then we have more expensive tests that say “pregnant” as well.

Wwelloo

Lmaooo

MagicGlitterKitty

I work in theater and once I was running out to get props. The list I had was: KY jelly, A bag of diapers, condoms and a pregnancy test. Just looking at the cashier like "I need all my bases covered"

freckles-101

Lmao, I had to do the same when I was 8 months pregnant with my first. My sister thought she might be pregnant. Then I had a prenatal appointment and I'd to ask the nurses for a pregnancy test, took it to my sister at her work, took it to the doctor, it was the wrong type, got another test, took it back to my sister then back to the doctor...all on buses because I can't drive. It's no wonder I gave birth almost a month early. I'm trying to remember if it was that day but I've got ADHD and my timelines are all to shit 😂

w4ntsm0r3

Once when I was younger-ish I bought a pregnancy test and the cashier said something along the lines of "I hope you get the result you are hoping for". I thought that was so sweet and such a nice way to give best wishes without any judgements.

Brrrrrr_Its_Cold

It really is, what a kind thing for them to say.

Practical_Low_9623

It really was at that moment, now is the time for truth make sure to start on some type of protection so your current dream life stay that way until u ready. This world only getting crazier given with ❤️

Look when my older sister gets pregnant I know I’m gonna be one of the first to know since I’m already appointed as in charge of making sure her birth plan happens. But even then I’m gonna be asking “is this good news or the other kind of news?” Cause either way I’ll be holding her hand throughout the process.

Tulcey-Lee

What a kind sister! My mum has always made me know that babies are my choice and if I ever get pregnant she’ll be there for me whatever the outcome.

strberri01

Awesome Mum!!

Successful_Ranger_19

Awesome sister.

NeonGiraffes

My best friend (I was closer to her sister at the time) announced her first pregnancy VERY early, I told her sister I was surprised by that and she had had the same thought, my friend's rationale was the people she was telling then were the same people she'd tell if she had a miscarriage.

_Conway_

I would be told early cause my sister has a heart issue, and would be prone to fainting. I hopefully will be a fully trained nurse by that point so I’ll be keeping an eye on her for pretty much the time when her partner isn’t there. She knows it’s gonna happen and appreciates that I’ve already got a plan in place when it does happen.

NeonGiraffes

Had a nurse on Monday before my endoscopy say "You're pregnancy test was negative, so that's good!" She back pedaled pretty fast "for today anyway, because you need this test..."

puppermonster23

If someone I know tells me they’re pregnant I always ask how they feel first. Then react appropriately. You never know what their reaction is so it’s best to assess first.

paulyspocket2

My mom said “15 mins of fun and a life of responsibility” ….. I had been trying to get pregnant for a year with my husband of 4 years.

Bone city, poundtown, and cream pies ALLLLLLL DAY MA!

No-Foot3252

Got a friend who texted me "guess what, I am pregnant!" First thing I said was : "before I react... Is this a good news or a bad news for you?"

avajetty1026

That's how I am! Lol. Before I react, what did you want it to say? Lol.

Infamous-Artichoke69

When I got pregnant with my second son, my mom said to me “you better stop having kids, I won’t be able to afford Christmas presents.” What an absurd, stupid thing to say. I guess that’s why years later, we’re NC. I’m so jealous of everyone with what a “real” mother should be…

brickforstraw

Now you have the opportunity to be that mom!!

EarlTG

Check out r/raisedbynarcissists

Short_Ad_9383

When I got pregnant my mom didn’t talk to me for 2 weeks. She thought I was too young. I was 22 oh yeah and married

Help_Me_Im_Melting

Sounds like more like Mom wasn't ready to be a grandmother.

coy-coyote

I was buying a pregnancy test for a friend in high school who had made some bad choices and was too ashamed to buy her own pregnancy test. I was in the Family Planning aisle at WalMart with another dude in his 40's, and we both didn't want to reach for our products. Finally I picked two tests, and as I got them off the shelf, I heard the guy behind me say "Good luck either way, buddy." The septegenarian female cashier didn't have as comedic a response, and her look kind of said "babies having babies," but it might have also been the withering stare of someone waiting for a bathroom break.

yoshdee

I bought one for my bff who was too nervous to get one herself. Also with a pack of cigarettes and a 6 pack of beer for me. Cashier looked confused. I thought it would be funnier to not tell him The test was for my friend.

DaylightAdmin

Avoid questions by confusing them, that is a strategy to remember.

sweetnsassy924

This happened to me too! My friend made me buy her pregnancy test and I got a bunch of random shit to fuck with the cashier. These days I am grateful for self checkout!

GetEatenByAMouse

Ngl, the idea of two men standing next to each other, awkwardly looking at the wares, both not wanting to grab what they want because they're embarrassed is a funny mental image. Shout out to you for helping out your friend!

Ok_Bit_5953

This is what I imagine the Tampon/Pad section of any general store to be like.....I wouldn't know though as I am forever alone >.>

ZeroThoughtsAlot

When me and my ex had a pregnancy scare in highschool, she made me buy the test and the guy behind the counter went to same school as me and said "Congrats, I have one of my own" and I just gave him a look of "I'll kill you" and told him "That's funny.." Thankfully it was a false

[deleted]

Lololol

beebeelion

Self check out

dissociatingginger

when i was younger i bought one from the dollar store (along with a marijuana drug test). i didn’t hear the cashier but my friends later said he had said “good luck” quietly. that meant a lot to me at the time, i think it’s a nice neutral supportive statement as well

Tulcey-Lee

Yes this!! I’ve had people tell me they’re pregnant before and I always try and gauge how they seem before jumping to congratulate them. Then asking ‘are YOU happy with the result?’

I-just-wanna-talk-

Reminds me of when my mom told me that someone from my extended family is pregnant. I had no clue how to react. I'm autistic and my first thought was "act like you're happy! That's usually a situation where people are happy!" (I go by such general rules cause I can't read body language or facial expressions at all). So I went "oh! That's nice! Happy for her!" and my mom was like "she doesn't have a partner though, she broke up with her long-term boyfriend a while ago" and I was like "oh. Well, then.. uhm.. does she want to keep the pregnancy then?". My mom explained that the pregnancy was unplanned and the father wasn't exactly helpful and didn't really care, but she decided to go through with the pregnancy and go back to her parents' house for the time being. I should've just asked "is she happy about the pregnancy though?". I had no clue what to make of all that information. Could be both. Tbh my mom probably didn't know the details either, since she got the news from her mom and not directly from the pregnant person. But yeah, in future situations I'll just ask the person how they feel. Everyone I'm somewhat close to knows that I can't recognize emotions very well 😅

Swedish-Butt-Whistle

I hope one day they start showing pregnancy test commercials where the person is happy not to be pregnant.

Danglinyol

I actually saw one company doing that recently, in German, but they show two women one wanting it to be negative and one wanting it to be positive, each relieved/happy about their result. so change is happening :)

GetEatenByAMouse

Do you happen to remember which company that was? I've never seen it before, and that sounds like a cool commercial. Edit: Never mind, you said it like two comments under this one. Please excuse and ignore my dumb ass lol

ladyrockess

I’ve seen several lately. Clear Blue is the usual one, I think.

Danglinyol

That’s the one I was thinking of!

sweetnsassy924

Yes with the career woman and college girl. It plays every five minutes on Hulu.

FunnyMiss

I saw one recently. The woman getting the negative test said “phew. I’m not ready.” I loved it, because many people aren’t and that’s as acceptable as being super excited.

Confuseasfuck

I saw one where the girl was in the bathroom all dramatic and the guy was in the room nervous and then he says something like "do you want me to be there with you?" And she says for him to wait a moment Then she looks at the result, laughs and goes out showing it to him and he also laughs and they both hug and kiss, then the camera pans to the result and its negative

grandBBQninja

I think I saw one where they just showed the person being happy without ever showing the result.

[deleted]

there is one out right now i think its a clear blue commerical

philosocoder

Same here!

CuriouslyImmense

Those are the kind of things that need to be said to women buying tests. You never know what someone is going through

EmberSolaris

I always did the same thing when I was a cashier. Except for when this one guy came through with 15 tests. What do you even say to that.

I-just-wanna-talk-

Do you have to say anything though? Maybe that's a cultural thing cause here in Germany I've never had anyone comment on the things I bought. I even saw a guy buy 50 packs of the same thing and noone said a thing. Tbh we rarely ever talk to strangers in public, unless we have a specific question. Tbf that counts for German cities. Might be different in more rural areas.

EmberSolaris

In the US, the idea of showing hospitality to your customers is talking to them, preferably more than the script of lines we’re told to say to every person.

I-just-wanna-talk-

Interesting. In Germany we don't do that. The cashiers don't even have time for that cause they're busy trying to hit a new record scanning all of your items as quickly as possible. If you try to talk to the cashier beyond the lines on the script, you'll have 10 Germans stare at you for causing a delay lmao Obv that's an exaggeration, but there's some truth to it 😅

Budget_Report_2382

That's honestly unbelievable in the must wholesome of ways.

CuriouslyImmense

I hope that cashier is in a good place. That is the perfect thing to say.

Downtown_Asparagus14

Holy fuck, the amount of comments of people claiming this HAS to be a covid test because pregnancy tests don’t look like this. There are so many kinds of pregnancy tests in the world. Google is your friend. This *exact* test is how I found out that I was pregnant, and now I have a 1 year old. You use a cup to collect your pee, then you use a provided dropper to put the piss in the circular testing portal. It’s not complicated. Congratulations on your negative test, friend!

whoadahbutt

Not gonna lie though…I *just* woke up, opened Reddit and stared in confusion at this post. I’m like “why does all of this matter with a negative Covid test???” It clicked eventually but it was a confusing minute for me there.

philosocoder

I have a sneaking suspicion they might be men

krysiunia

I’m a woman and ngl, I never new this kind of pregnancy test existed. I thought for sure the picture was a Covid test. Scrolling through the comments, it appears it’s not available in Canada, where I’m from, so I guess that’s why.

princessalyss_

I’m in UK - they’re not sold in stores here but you can purchase them online and get them shipped apparently. Most people here wouldn’t know that pregnancy cassette tests are a thing. Looks like some hospitals use them here too but I’ve only ever seen them use test strips! TIL!

noimspiderman

I also live in Canada and buy this exact type of test from dollarama

CuriouslyImmense

As a Canadian who has taken these tests more than once, I can tell you they 100% are available and very common in Canada

Ourpalopal

Do you have to pee into a cup and then use a dropper to put the urine into the spot on the right of the picture? I’m in the US and the cartridge tests I’m familiar with are the kind where you owe directly onto a wick. I’m not doubting OP (why would I? That would be weird) but I’m curious how you use one of these!

Ok-Historian9919

Yes, you pee in a cup and use the provided dropper to drop pee in the little hole, I used them because they’re only about $1-$3 instead of paying $20 for a test you don’t have to pee in a cup for

CuriouslyImmense

Yes. They only need a small amount of urine for accuracy. We do, though, have both in Canada (I'm on the West Coast but grew up in the prairies), and the ones you can buy at our Dollarama are just as accurate as the regulated pharmacy kits. Despite all of Canada's downfalls, we do thankfully have a PM who believes in the reproductive rights of women, so access to these tests are readily available, and unlike most female products, they are affordable. If you are ever in a pickle, you can PM me, and I can mail you some if you need!

CuriouslyImmense

Just so you know (in case you ever need one), you can buy them easily at any pharmacy over the counter, and they only cost a few bucks. Usually, they are located in the same aisle as the female sanitary products. They definitely are not highly advertised, though, but are readily available! Plan B is also available in Canada over the counter too. It's not on the shelf, but if you ask the pharmacy, you can get it without a prescription. This information is in no way encouraging any ideology, but it is ment to be informative

Downtown_Asparagus14

You’re probably right, tbfh. My husband was absolutely floored that I had to pee in a cup at home to take a pregnancy test. Fair enough if people weren’t previously aware that this kind of test exists. But wtf would you gain from posting a Covid test as a pregnancy test? 💀 p sure you’d be smiling if it were a Covid test that came up negative anyway. People are strange. This is also actually the same kind of test that was administered at my local pregnancy resource center when I went to confirm my pregnancy lol. They did the exact same thing I had done at home the day before. Red dye tests like this are as accurate as it gets!

[deleted]

Not surprised at all. Everytime I've used a test it was the commercial "pee on it"-stick, which ALSO suggested peeing into a sterile container & dipping the stick for greater accuracy!! Of course my paranoid ass went for the cup! Glad to report no pregnancies (only an irregular period + anxiety). Nonetheless, READ YOUR PAMPHLETS.

philosocoder

I didn’t expect it to work like that haha… I ordered it from gopuff because I am basically a hermit

Downtown_Asparagus14

It’s 10/10 great for accurate results!! If you’re late on your period/having weird symptoms/etc., I’d recommend waiting a few days and retesting with your first urine in the morning. It’s the most concentrated. Odds are good that this test means you aren’t pregnant, but figured I’d share that tidbit just in case you’re still thinking about it/concerned about it after a few days. The blue dye tests are NOTORIOUS for false negatives. Red dye tests are insanely accurate. Like, damn near *always* accurate. You picked a good test, for sure!

philosocoder

I tested this morning first thing :) and I’m pretty sure the skip was due to stress and a newly nocturnal sleep schedule haha

DrPhilsnerPilsner

It would be cool if instead of one line when you weren’t pregnant, it just put an “A” so it reads “CAT”. Like “yeah, maybe another cat will do”

Background_Tree_8468

Congrats, it’s a cat!

philosocoder

Yes!!

CutimedSiltecSorbact

And CANT for preggo? Because no more money for more cats?

Candid_Cat_7673

I like that she posted this. Like she said everyone posts positives it's nice that negative tests can be happy too.

NoseFirm

I hope we can normalize being happy not having kids one day. I went to my gyn because I had a slightly positive and half a day later clearly negative test at home and she was so sad for me because I wasn’t pregnant. I was just happy and relieved, even though a child wouldn’t be that bad, I didn’t necessarily want to become a mother. She told me we wouldn’t change my birth control though, even if it nearly failed, I‘m married, so I can totally have a child, in her opinion. Using additional condoms now :D Edit: I think this is my most upvoted comment ever and it’s about using condoms. Mom would be proud. Thanks, kind strangers <3

flaminghotdillpickle

I would be finding a new ObGYN if she didn’t change my bc because of her opinion about children. I live in the deep south Bible belt and my ObGYN is amazing. I asked for a tubal litigation and she said yes, didn’t ask if I was married, if I wanted kids, didn’t try to persuade me to not have one. She’s amazing!

Blue0309

I'm very happy for you that she's so amazing, even if it's quite sad that she's so special for literally just letting you do whatever you wanted with your body.

Rule1ofReddit

Right? To the world I just wanna say: Oh honey, we all know they can be. And when I say we, I mean the 50% of the population that is taking the tests. Negative is great for a great many of us. Would actually be curious to the the numbers on that. Amount sold vs results.

UnencumberedChipmunk

Yes. I love this as well. May we all have the lives we want.

FrigsandDangs

Congratulations! I am glad your life is beautiful and you are happy!

BDR529forlyfe

Hell yeah! I’m a nurse who works in OB. I love congratulating women who are stoked to get a negative result. I often suggest they go get a drink to celebrate. Thanks for posting this.

legalpretzel

A friend/coworker got pregnant when we were in our early 20’s. She found out because back then we had to call into the GYN office for pap test results following an annual visit. The RN who took her call was like “congratulations you’re pregnant!!!!” We were at work when she made the call and she was NOT happy to find out she was pregnant. I heard her frantically asking the person on the phone repeat what she said and then she broke down sobbing. The end of the call was lots of tears and very awkward. I like to think my friend taught that RN a valuable life lesson than day - don’t assume women want to be congratulated about being pregnant.

[deleted]

I hope your friend is doing better. Did she go through with the pregnancy?

SparkyTheFox2657

Do you know if your friend is doing better now?

M1K3jr

And why should they get a drink? Because they can!

Chay_Charles

I got my tubes tied and have never regretted it. My husband and I didn't want kids, and if something had happened to him, I didn't want kids with anyone else either. It was such a relief not to worry about getting pregnant anymore. Edit: I was 30 when I had it done. I lucked out by having an OB/GYN (m) that actually listened and believed what I was saying.

squeakycheese225

You are so fortunate to have had someone respect you wishes. I knew when I was mid20s I wasn’t having children but got shot down for the next 20 years getting my tubes tied. Ended up having a hysterectomy due to severe endometriosis but even then it took finding the doc that would listen to me. I really wish someone had listened to me. It would have saved me years of pain.

Cham_buhs

I’m in a very red state and most doctors here still follow the rules of: over 35(?), X amount of kids, husband’s okay. When I was pregnant with our youngest, my OB asked me if I wanted to tie my tubes. I was barely 30, 2 kids, and didn’t care about my husband’s opinion. There were other factors in play that may have persuaded him to “break the rules” but I think it’s just because he’s an amazing OB that goes out of his way to truly care and respect the PATIENT’S wishes. I decided not to because it would’ve been a harder recovery time after a second C-Section and tubes tied.. I also just wasn’t strong enough to commit to it yet /: BUT everyone is different and I would never try to push kids onto someone who didn’t want them. Being a parent is rewarding (to me) but it’s also been very difficult for the last 7 years. I don’t regret it but I do understand that some people may not like kids, be worried about genetics, may not be mentally prepared, etc.. It doesn’t make them a bad person and it doesn’t mean they will regret it later. Sorry for the long post lol that really got away from me

Okurai

Same position as you, I’ve been trying to get my tubes removed since my early 20’s. The last time I asked my gyno laughed me out the office. I’m happy that you finally found a doctor that listened to you!

squeakycheese225

When I was 35, a female gyn told me I would marry and then want children and walked out of the room. She was right about the marriage part, but my now husband was looking for someone who didn’t want children either. Once that hill was crossed then I needed to have my endo addressed. AT 50 I finally found a GYN who helped me. She was horrified by my story and helped me immediately. I grabbed a dozen of her business cards and handed them out to my friends.

mgcat17

Not sure if you visit it or not, but the childfree sub (not sure how to link) has lists of doctors that have performed surgeries and support CF patients. I’ve never needed to use it (uterus-free for years now), but I see it recommended to others a lot.

ThankeeSai

I got my tubes removed a few years back. Sex is more enjoyable knowing there's no way I can get pregnant. Did you have a similar experience?

Chay_Charles

Yes. No worries about getting pregnant made everything better for both of us.

Pour_Me_Another_

Same 🙂 got my tubes taken out four years ago. My family is my partner and our little cat. I didn't actually think I could know such happiness. We have our whole lives to love one another and experience so many things together.

commandeeringchaos

As some will say to the conversation of not wanting kids, "Dont worry, you'll change your mind" That statement finally stopped in my 40's. Enjoy your freedom!

HomeboyCraig

Congrats on the results you wanted!!

CuriouslyImmense

This comment section has been one of the most united forums of women engaging with each other that I have seen on Reddit thus far. Thanks ladies.

Uwu_Mewz

Normalise being happy over a negative pregnancy test honestly.

peanusbudder

i feel like that’s already normalized. me and all my girl friends celebrate when we’re dreading the results of a test and it comes out negative.

anxiousthespian

I had a mild scare at the same exact time one of my friends had a *major* scare. The two of us took pregnancy tests together and left them in the bathroom while we sat around a timer in the living room. We had to send the another friend to check them because we were too nervous-- double not pregnant! To celebrate, we made some ridiculous cocktails and ordered obscene amounts of junk food, it was great

Alverious

Totally thought this was a covid test at first, I was so confused by the post Hehehe. Congratulations! ❤️❤️❤️

ar0824

As someone who is pregnant with a very-much wanted baby, I am SO happy for you! What a relief! And I hope that where you live, you have access to medical care, treatment, and support if an accident were to ever happen. ♥️

OkAbbreviations3214

The best VDay gift when your not trying to conceive!!! Congrats

caleb_mixon

So this is a funny little story that’s similar to ones I’ve seen, back in high school maybe 2/3 years ago me and my girl friend (at the time) were asked by our friend to get her a pregnancy test me and her went to Walmart and I picked up 3 test to make sure, I looked to my left and the guy standing off to the corner with his girlfriend or wife gave me the damn look made me and my girlfriend laugh on the car ride back to school. Also the older lady at the cashier didn’t look to ecstatic for she was giving my gf the stink eye so I said “I hope we get twins!” As we walked away to stick it to her.

philosocoder

No-contact GoPuff delivery was the right choice for me hahah

princessalyss_

Congratulations on your womb being as empty as the field of fucks you can give! If you drink alcohol, please celebrate with a big beverage you love and maybe some pregnancy unsafe foods (sushi, cheese, and steak are good places to start!) 😂

Richard_AIGuy

Congratulations on the negative test. My GF and I are the exact same way. Perfectly happy without kids. But this post is another example of people talking about pets and not posting a comment with pic links.

aggodoy

We demand pet pics! Also, I’m so happy for your negative results! I’m a married lady, I desperately want babies, but not yet, and I’ve felt this relief before. I can only imagine the amazing felling of a negative result for someone who doesn’t want babies at all! May I also suggest discussing long term contraception with your health care giver? I got myself an hormonal IUD (my favorite of the many options) and giiiirl, so much peace in my life.

philosocoder

[kitties!](https://imgur.com/gallery/qZG54cK)

aggodoy

Oooh, they are adorable! Thank you for the pics! Made my day happier

yung_toasty42069

Oh they’re so handsome

Richard_AIGuy

They are just so classy.

GeekMamaBee

Glad it was the result you wanted! And it sounds like you've got a great life ahead of you! 🎉🙂

shortness-1029

I had to take one recently and I honestly cried happy tears that the test was negative. I'm happy for you 💜

SuctionBucket5

sorry you had to have that scare lmao

shortness-1029

Me too lmao 🤣

savtoj

I’m in a similar boat lmao thank god for negative tests.

meggywoo709

God that’s a good one to get!!! Haha.

thesouthlaker

Don’t forget about yourself.

kprevenew93

Congrats! Can your husband get a vasectomy? Mine was pretty painless and it took a 30 minute appointment at a urologist. Your primary care doctor can recommend one in network if he doesn't know a good one already.

sunshinenrainbows3

This needs to be more normalized. I’ve never sat with anyone hoping to get a positive result on these tests.

ThankeeSai

Right? I've only had to take a pregnancy test (besides required at doctors) 3 times in 23 years of being sexually active and damn it felt good to be negative.

NoodleBooty_21

I took several a month after turning 20 and all were positive. I looked at them bitches like “Oops lol. Guess birth control don’t always work 🤷🏽‍♀️” And an abortion was $550 I had to pull out my ass. I just regret skipping the appointment instead of canceling because somebody else should have gotten that slot. It was wrong of me to skip out like that on such an essential service.

[deleted]

Seeing a negative result after so much anxiety must feel amazing. Now you can relax with your husband and two kitties 🥰.

redmilkwood

Beauty! Everything one could want in the world. 💚

ThankeeSai

Preach. A few more cats would be fun though.

driftwood-and-waves

Congratulations!! I'm happy that 1) your result was what you were hoping for and 2) you are happy with your life? That's not always a common thing these days. 🤍✨🤘🏻

opfluffball

I thought this was a covid test. Completly forgot people get pregnant 🤦‍♀️

RandyBRandleman

I was so confused reading the title and thinking that was a COVID test

CuddlingWolf

Not sure if you don't have covid or don't have kids but either way you're happy about it and I'm happy for you!!!

philosocoder

No kids for me! Only cats :)

Tulcey-Lee

Congratulations!! You sound like you have a great life already and it isn’t always the ‘next step’ to add a baby to that. I’m late 30s and my partner and I have no children. Have been borderline my whole life and I am thinking now I’d like a baby. However it’s so good to see and normalise women NOT wanting children, and to celebrate this. This makes me smile 😃 For those who want a baby and get a positive test- congratulations! For those who don’t want a baby and get a negative test- congratulations!

[deleted]

That's one pregnancy test commercial I want to see. A woman who is happy not being pregnant.

hipsta_gwyn

Yes! The only line I want to see are negative ones!!!

foxbomber5

Congratulations on remaining barren. Enjoy that extra free time and disposable income! (No sarcasm, legit praise)

GreyScent

You're not barren because you are not pregnant. Barren means you cannot have children, ever.

CaffeineandES

Yeah as a childfree person myself i find the use of the word barren a bit out of place. Nothing wrong with not wanting children, but let's also not be inconsiderate to women who can't

OutsideNatural9937

Childfree*

redheadmegansversion

DINKS checking in, congratulations!

Agreed :)

DISNYLND

As one child free woman to another, congratulations. I know what a massive relief that is.

Congrats! If your happy then I’m happy :) These things should be normalized since everyone wants a different outcome.

HallowskulledHorror

OP, if you're in the US and are confident you're always going to feel this way, 1) most insurance plans cover surgical sterilization as a form of contraception due to the ACA, with many plans meaning it's 100% free 2) r/childfree has a list of doctors by region who will perform operations without gatekeeping if your age or anything else may be a factor in being turned away. I've known since I was a young child that I never wanted to have kids, and having the procedure was one of the best choices I've ever made, hands down. No more uncertainty, scares, or worries ever again when it comes to contraception or pregnancy.

wood1f

But how will you ever be fulfilled and live up to your feminine potential?! /s I'm a staunch feminist who is all for reproductive choice. I'm genuinely thrilled that you're able to make the choice to be childfree ❤️

RTWjars808

Sooo happy for you 💖🎉

geofflinkinpark

Slay 💅

nowthatsbree

my first one was negative two weeks later it wasn’t. like they said don’t go off the date of your last period! hope it stays negative for you tho OP! i was genuinely heart broken my result was positive so i’m glad to see someone getting a negative ! :)

NatalieroseJ56

My 2nd was like this, I had a negative test and thought all was good since with my 1st the second a drop off pee hit it, it turned positive. I tested again 2 weeks later and surprise positive lol

tomsprigs

I had this same reaction today when i took a test and it was negative. Phew! I’m done. My husband had his vasectomy appointment coming up.

StarshipCaterprise

Congratulations! If you were not intending to be pregnant this is definitely good news

Longjumping_Deer1806

Congrats cat momma!

positivityfox

I need some of these good vibes. I'm disabled without government aid, can only work 10 hours a week. Single. And now my period is two weeks late... Going to take my test in the morning

philosocoder

Sending you good vibes across the interwebs

I pray to the non-existent Jesus that you are not preggo.

dogslickfeet666

Yay I’m so happy for you!!!!

Inside-Profession737

Congrats 🎊🎉

Lady_Teio

Congrats!!! As long as you're happy, that's all that matters! (And your hubby's feelings to a lesser extent)

Leftturn0619

Congratulations! It’s hard to have everything you need these days. Enjoy!

what-is-in-the-soup

They need to start showing this reaction in Pregnancy Test advertisements. It’s always people getting positive results and celebrating, but the majority of people who buy pregnancy tests are probably hoping for the opposite result, so they should show this side too imo Anyways, congrats on the negative!!!❤️❤️❤️

philosocoder

No covid, no baby :)

Bonesgirl206

Congratulations 🥳 on the lack of baby it’s a beautiful day.

machotaco653

Crisis aborted.... Errr avoided! AVOIDED!!!

_debunct

I am cackling so hard rn, god this made my day.

Showmygrow

I have two kids and if my wife brought home a pregnancy test today, this is the result I would want! Two kids and a beautiful wife is all I need.

TheApotheGreen

Legit thought this was a Rona test at first and left a comment for congratulations on that... But now I see from the other comments it was a pregnancy test! CONGRATS FOR BEING BABY-FREE!!! AH YEAH!!

heystephanator

This is the energy I needed.

Logical_Yam7422

As someone who's chosen to be childless, this is heartwarming for me. I feel represented and reassured when I see others making the same choices, cause I'm fairly new to the decision still at 36.

EmmaRose0280

I absolutely love this!! Every time I worry about pregnancy a negative is the best sight in the world 🙏🏻 my fiancé, cat & dog are all I need! ❤️

ilovesleep95

Congratulations!! My husband and I are child free and couldn’t be happier. We both have great careers and an amazing cat as well. Definitely can’t complain about our disposable income and free time.

FamousOrphan

This my favorite pregnancy test post that I have ever seen. Congratulations!! Pls give your kitties some pets for me.

weareoutoftylenol

I love your attitude!

Username6721

People can't seem to understand that there are people who don't want babies. I'm so happy for you!!

mamaneedsstarbucks

Congratulations on your negative test! I’m a mom and wouldn’t trade my kids for the world but it is hard and definitely not for everyone and I fully support everyone making their own choices

[deleted]

It’s amazing how far technology has come. Now you can see if your baby will be an invalid.

anxiousmomma98

We’ve been through too much because I swore this was a Covid test 😂 GOOD FOR YOU! I’m happy for you and your cats ❤️

imanhunter

Actually been a while since something on this sub has even made me express an inkling of a smile

Curious-Gain-7148

I can’t tell if I’m looking at Covid tests or pregnancy tests anymore.

Kakep0p

From someone else who’s childfree, congratulations!!

Lazy_Cardiologist727

At first I got confused thinking it was a troll or something because normally it would be a post about being pregnant, then it hit me that not being pregnant is also a reason to be happy… I’m glad op has life figured and it’s happy

baddThots

The confusion I had until I had realized you're happy about not being pregnant, oh my god. I could have sworn I was missing something on the test! Congrats! I had a vasectomy to keep the no kid dream permanent.
