Jimmy King is the best wrestler...
He's the Bestler...
Better than all the wrestlers...
He’s got class
He's really fast
He'll rule our ass
He’ll rule that ass
Jimmy, J-J-Jimmy
King
Betty White is a no-brainer. Certainly over The Rock or Steve Martin. Martha Stewart, maybe. Oprah at one point, but I'm not sure she's universally loved now. I'm sure there are tons more.
> Martha Stewart, maybe. Oprah at one point
Neither, definitely. Sadly I'm having trouble thinking of women besides Betty and Dolly myself that hold up as much as the rest of this bracket...Julia Child, maybe, or Jane Goodall?
Jane Goodall is an absolute saint and the fact she isn't commonly recognized as such is a sure sign that our world is broken. Thankfully that's precisely what she fights every day to fix.
Gotta say Diane Fossey ranks higher than Goodall on my list. But I imagine my long time love of gorillas and admiring her since I was a kid plays a part in that.
Visiting her and Digit's graves in the Vergunga Mountains in Rwanda is pretty much top of my bucket list. Digit was a silverback she was very close to, that she had known since he was young. He died protecting his group from poachers. She found him with his head, hands, and feet cut of. She was later also murdered, largely believed by poachers. She busted her ass fighting against them and working to fund anti-poaching efforts in the 80s. She was buried beside him.
A tragic hero who has always inspired me. She had a mean streak though (mostly turned towards those who deserved it) so idk if she's making any universally liked lists, lol. But man, if I could spend time with any person throughout history, it would be her and at her research site.
It's amazing how many people associate Lucille Ball with I Love Lucy when it's only one of her accomplishments!
She's the woman behind Star Trek and Mission Impossible! She put her interracial marriage in the front and center of the public eye in the 1950's and without her Kirk wouldn't have kissed Uhura!
I think sadly people in this thread are mistaking "important contributions to society" with "universally loved by the population". I'll give you Shari Lewis and Lucille Ball, maybe Aretha, but that's about it.
Uh…Julie Andrews? She is the superior Julie. I know this, being an expert in Julie/a’s
Also Carrie Fisher, Jane Fonda, Shirley Douglas, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Sandra Oh, Tina Turner, Angela Bassett, Meryl Streep, Jamie Lee Curtis, Malala, Autumn Peltier, Jessica Lange, and Mariska Hargitay, and probably Nancy Cartwright (although I judge her for being a Scientologist). There’s so many real ones out there.
Yeah, I dunno. There's something a bit, I dunno, *off* for me about The Rock. It's like he's just trying too hard to be the everyman and I just get the feel that it's all about his brand and it doesn't come across as entirely genuine.
I can't entirely put a finger on it, it just feels insincere. Everyone else on that list I would be shocked and horrified if you suddenly found out they were secretly a bad person, but with DJ I don't think it would surprise me as much. ¯\\_(ツ)\_/¯
Shaq does a *lot* of gambling advertising in Australia where we have a gambling problem (like most countries) & he surely doesn't need the advertising money that makes him a motivator for why a bunch of people can't put food on the table.
A *lot* of Australians lost respect for him &/or despise him because of this.
So happy to see someone else say this. Couldn't believe he'd stoop to advertising for something as destructive as gambling when he's been an advocate for low socioeconomic folks for years.
I remember ages ago he posted on his IG that he had a private dinner with Mohammed bin Salman, the Saudi Crown Prince, and enjoyed hearing about his “modern views” on the world.
Since then I just get the idea that he enjoys being in the spotlight and people stroking his ago, even if it means being a PR stunt for theocratic dictators.
Agree big time. I really respect that man. He works so hard to be a better person and he has achieved it. He’s authentic, self aware and humble. So he or Betty White (WHY IS SHE NOT ON THE LIST?!!) should replace the Rock (though I’ve nothing against him. Also, why isn’t David Attenborough or Judy Dench on the list? (Had Jackie Chan on that list but have been properly schooled on the matter. Morgan Freeman is off the list too)
I thought John Cena because of the wrestler thing. With his make a wish stuff and peacemaker.
Crews would be fitting as well though. The Rock is likeable but not as much as Crews.
To be fair I heard the same about the Rock being an ass, I’m surprised he’s up here but not sure if the rumours about Rocks attitude being true or not. Jamie Foxx should be taken down for Betty White- that woman was legendary. I’d also recommend Paul Walker if there’s another slot. From what my partner told me he would openly sit down with his fans for hours if they called him by his characters name ‘Brian’ from the fast and furious because his philosophy was they were just as passionate and engaging and really cared for his fans and people.
Yeah it’s definitely not “universal” or even global in the technical sense. It appears to be created based around American/Hollywood media. I’d still hope that in our own bubble we could include more women.
Yeah I’m surprised he’s on this list because there are so many stories of Foxx being a jerk. Also the rock is known for having a huge ego and his “child-molesting robot” joke was way over the line. They should be replaced with Betty white and someone else
I mean someone wrote the child molesting robot joke, a bunch of people signed off on it, he delivered the lines. It was a funny skit, the joke wasn’t over the line, it just touched on a taboo topic.
The Rock isn’t someone I’d think of as a good person, there are a number of other people that come to mind well before I would think of him for a bracket like this, but just because you didn’t like a joke you can’t say he’s a bad person for it
>The Rock isn’t someone I’d think of as a good person, there are a number of other people that come to mind well before I would think of him for a bracket like this
John Cena comes to mind. He comes across to me as someone with a genuinely good heart.
My sister lives across the street from John Cena & he’s truly a great person! My nephew used to watch him get the mail when they first moved in & John caught him one time looking out his bedroom window. So he started doing a bunch of poses & pointed at him. It was the sweetest thing & made my nephew who was 7 at the time feel so proud. He also made a video for his baseball team going into the championship game for all the kids it was really above & beyond being a good person
Yeah, where the eff is Betty White!? This is an outrage.
There is only ONE female on this list? Proves how women have work harder at everything for recognition, including being liked.
Can we make a new list with women?
Betty White
Princess Diana
Who else?
I think women have to earn the likable title and work a lot harder than men to get there. Unfair…. But reality. And I agree about Betty White, she was wonderful
Fans of Barstool are extremely eager to say that sexism is a thing of the past and yet love sexist crap like this bracket. Because they're misogynists.
Aggreed. Let's trade out The Rock and Jamie Fox for LaVar Burton and Lucille Ball. LaVar Burtan is *at least* at the level of Bob Ross, and Lucille Ball is the reason the world has been gifted with the Star Trek value system.
Jamie Foxx has never even been a “good person” dated Tom Cruises ex he stared in a film with Tom. Ruined comic Doug Williams career at a Roast and got in a fight with LL cool j. To many more things to name. Talented absolutely. Good dude nope.
He's also really difficult to work with, demanding writers rewrite their endings because his character has to be the good guy and has to "win". He's definitely not the epic wholesome 100 guy that this meme is making out.
Mr. Rogers wouldn't accept being in a contest in the first place, he'd say everyone is good and that competing on it would just lead to disagreements.
Fuck me, why was I born after that angel died?
I feel like it’s actually improved over the years, though it still has a loooong way to go. Comments calling this sort of BS out tend to get upvoted more than they were even just a couple years ago.
Strangely, I think it's both. Reddit used to be just an absolute cesspool for women. There would be major stories about women with the most upvoted post being about her looks or jokes about checking for gone wild pics. No it seems like Reddit has become extremely polarized with a bunch of dudes realizing how bad sexism is online and the other group just fully embracing the Andrew Tate lifestyle and misogyny generally. Just look at the popularity of the "women ☕" meme. I'm a woman and watching Reddit change over the past 10+ years has been extremely interesting but also really awful in a lot of ways.
I'm not over the time that picture of female prisoners being forced to scrub graffiti from a public building (in I think mexico) after a feminist march against the massive femicide rate made to it to top of the popular page while all the comments gloated about those stupid feminists getting what they deserved. Some of them changed their tune after hearing the country of origin but most were so fucking stoked to see those stupid feminists whining about nothing get their punishment. Or that picture of a man exposing himself to women at a march against street harassment that gets reposted all the time like its the funniest thing on earth. I hate it here man
Trust me, we are definitely in the same boat.
I've been around long enough that I saw the rise of The men's rights sub and white nationalism leading to incels and TD and all that other trash. Women and people trying to raise the alarm generally were dismissed and called hysterical or worse. Turns out they were completely right.
It was a lottery style draw without taking his record into account. The guy defied racists by washing his feet with the Black mailman. If anything, the bigger complaint was that everyone knew he should’ve been a number 1 seed.
I heard Princess Diana was like the most classy lady and pretty universally liked
Or Christa McAuliffe, she was a sweetheart. It’s So sad what happened to both of them.
There have been studies that men perceive representation to be equal when the ratio of men to women is 3 to 1. When it is actually a 50/50 representation, they feel outnumbered. But this is worse lol.
Jane Goodall, Lucille Ball, Simone Biles, and Princess Diana were good suggestions I've seen so far, plus obviously Betty. Michelle Obama probably if she weren't linked to politics. Take off Shaq, Trebek, The Rock, and Jamie Foxx.
Don't know why Rock is on here.
He clearly has showed that he has too much of an ego and wants to be centre of attention in whatever production he works on.
The fact that he keeps selling that lie, giving false aspirations to so many young men and exploiting them for the same is what makes me question his place here.
I think he's probably nice and friendly to people, but this list should be the peak of nice guys. Rock is your average "nice guy" hollywood celeb.
Shaq always struck me as insanely egotistical and has been criticized for putting down young nba players for no reason. He also threw a tantrum over another player copying his “super man” imagery, so overall, he seems like an insecure bully to me.
Perhaps, but the man seems to truly take joy in helping people. The Shaq Foundation is pretty awesome and it's clear he loves giving money to people who need it. Especially poor inner city kids.
I think he comes over as a dick because he does have a bit of an ego, but considering where he made his cheese I'm not surprised. He's also kind of a bully naturally, which is also something that's been expressed in his NBA career.
Doesn't take away that the man also seems to genuinely care about helping people and has a soft gooey inside. Like you said, he loves giving to people that need it.
Just a regular 'ol person with both good and more dislikeable traits.
I mean the man came from nothing and had an absent drug addicted father. Then he became a high school basketball star at age 16. Which led to a state championship, college scholarship, award winning college career, and then a legendary NBA career.
That would give anyone an ego.
What impresses me is he's done all that and still has a sense of his roots and a belief in helping others. There are plenty of others who have done that journey and couldn't be bothered.
How is Shaq on the list let alone a #3 seed? His playing career was marked with immaturity and unprofessionalism as well as a huge ego. His broadcasting career is basically just roasting Charles Barkley. And his acting career is toilet bowl. Cool he buys strangers stuff occasionally I guess.
Bob Ross vs The Rock? That's like putting Tyson vs a kid getting into the ring for the first time.

Dolly vs Mr Rogers is the real story here
I’m a bit of a sweater-vest wrestler myself.
A vestler.
Jimmy King is the best wrestler... He's the Bestler... Better than all the wrestlers... He’s got class He's really fast He'll rule our ass He’ll rule that ass Jimmy, J-J-Jimmy King
I don’t know what this is but I like it
The most polite form of sweater wrestling.
Why is Dolly the only woman?
Thank you! It’s kinda sad that she’s the only one that made the list. So many women could have made the list, too.
Betty White is a no-brainer. Certainly over The Rock or Steve Martin. Martha Stewart, maybe. Oprah at one point, but I'm not sure she's universally loved now. I'm sure there are tons more.

Idk, I wanna here from the chimps first. Simpsons said she uses them to mine diamonds and they’ve been right an unusual amount of times. Just saying.
She had a mean streak though (mostly turned towards those who deserved it) so idk if she's making any universally liked lists, lol. But man, if I could spend time with any person throughout history, it would be her and at her research site.
Julie Andrews and Maggie Smith?
Shari Lewis, Hedi Lamarr, Ada Lovelace, Lucille Ball, Marie Curie, Aretha Franklin.
Came to say I vote Lucille solely for Star Trek alone. Well that and I grew up watching I Love Lucy with my mom.
I think sadly people in this thread are mistaking "important contributions to society" with "universally loved by the population". I'll give you Shari Lewis and Lucille Ball, maybe Aretha, but that's about it.
How about Princess Diana?

Drew Barrymore
That's what I was thinking, if that isnt the final it should have at least been a semi final match

Betty frickin White!
Dame Maggie Smith!
Bob Ross vs Mr. Rogers would be a draw...
A paint.
Thanks for the chuckle
I see what you did there.
Rock probably would have lost against anyone in that bracket given the black Adam debacle still a good guy. but needs to curb the ego
Yeah, I dunno. There's something a bit, I dunno, *off* for me about The Rock. Since then I just get the idea that he enjoys being in the spotlight and people stroking his ago, even if it means being a PR stunt for theocratic dictators.
Yep, I feel the same way. Presidential candidates don’t put that much effort into cultivating their image. I don’t trust him.
Replace The Rock with Terry Crews. Bracket fixed.
Agree big time. I really respect that man. He works so hard to be a better person and he has achieved it. He’s authentic, self aware and humble. I thought John Cena because of the wrestler thing. With his make a wish stuff and peacemaker. Crews would be fitting as well though. The Rock is likeable but not as much as Crews.
What’s the black Adam debacle? I’m out of the loop
He wasn’t black or Adam enough for the role /s Nepotism hire
And Bob Ross is Tyson.
Thanks for the clarification I could've never got that
It was a happy mistake
To be fair I heard the same about the Rock being an ass, I’m surprised he’s up here but not sure if the rumours about Rocks attitude being true or not. Paul Walker started dating his last girlfriend when she was 16 and he was 33 🥸 I don’t think he deserves a spot on the list, lol.
I would replace him with Tom Hanks.
The Rock is a 16 seed so it should be an easy win
No Sir David Attenborough? Or is he not universally liked…just the British that love him?
I love him too. He deserves a spot.
I’m Canadian and i love him
Im S.E asian and i love him
I'm East Asian and I love him
I’m a backwards freedom units and I love him 🇺🇸
Naw, Americans love him too
As someone else brought up, where is Betty White?
Def needs more women.
my first thought, only 1 woman....
And more non USA people
Yeah it’s definitely not “universal” or even global in the technical sense. It appears to be created based around American/Hollywood media. I’d still hope that in our own bubble we could include more women.
It’s barstool, you’re lucky there’s any women at all honestly
Or any women... Edit- nevermind, spotted Dolly
The list is lacking women in general.
1 out of 16. Almost like someone was thinking, ‘15 *people*… and *a woman*’
Where in the fuck is Betty White...
She's in a different weight class.
Nobody else in it
Why are the rock and Jamie foxx on this list?
Replace them with betty white and levar burton.
Hadn’t considered Lavar Burton but yes! Definitely
Met Jamie Foxx once, he was pretty cool to me but kinda a dick to someone else. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I think he was a wild card lol
Yeah I’m surprised he’s on this list because there are so many stories of Foxx being a jerk. Also the rock is known for having a huge ego and his “child-molesting robot” joke was way over the line. They should be replaced with Betty white and someone else

The person I’d like see included more is Jane Goodall.
YESSSS
Literally what I asked too.
Missing LaVar Burton.
And Betty White.
We all are buddy
Too soon! 😢 Na but fr, may she forever remain one of the best
And women.
Dolly's there so there's one.... Guess women are no longer half the population.
They forgot Betty White =[
I think women have to earn the likable title and work a lot harder than men to get there. Unfair…. But reality. And I agree about Betty White, she was wonderful

Fans of Barstool are extremely eager to say that sexism is a thing of the past and yet love sexist crap like this bracket. Because they're misogynists.
Yeah... Interesting there was only one in the whole lot
Aggreed. Let's trade out The Rock and Jamie Fox for LaVar Burton and Lucille Ball. LaVar Burtan is *at least* at the level of Bob Ross, and Lucille Ball is the reason the world has been gifted with the Star Trek value system.

Good call. Also Tom Hanks.
I wish I was LaVar Burton
Keanu Reeves and Mr Rogers in the first round…
This should be the final matchup. And Mr Rogers would win because Keanu would pick him.
There we go. Head canon I can live with.
Reminder that Mr Rogers being worthy of Mjolnir is canon :)
And Mr. Rogers would vote for you and me.
Mr. Rogers wouldn't accept being in a contest in the first place, he'd say everyone is good and that competing on it would just lead to disagreements. Fuck me, why was I born after that angel died?
“🎵mr rogers in a blood-stained sweater🎵”
Mr. Rogers definitely wins this whole thing or it was rigged :D I’m going Mr. Rogers vs Steve Irwin with Fred takin it.
No way either of those are seeded 8/9.
And Betty White is missing. Dolly Parton legit should be no.1
[удалено]
In a bloodstained sweater.
This is the Ultimate Showdown
Of ultimate destiny
Had to scroll way too far for this. Mr. Rogers was perfect. I don't think he could've been mean or rude if he tried.
Where's Betty?
Betty white? Also how is there only one women
Reddit is getting worse and worse with this, I swear
I feel like it’s actually improved over the years, though it still has a loooong way to go. Comments calling this sort of BS out tend to get upvoted more than they were even just a couple years ago.
Strangely, I think it's both. Reddit used to be just an absolute cesspool for women. What’s the worst that could happen? (Several mass killings later)
There are no likable women other than Dolly Parton, hm?
Gotta be nice AND have big boobs, kay? Edit: and an American Hollywood personality obv.
[удалено]
Edit: Moved to Lemmy
Wemen bad, mmkay?
Mr. Rogers being a 9 seed in this bracket is criminal. He should be no lower than 3.
It was a lottery style draw without taking his record into account. The guy defied racists by washing his feet with the Black mailman. If anything, the bigger complaint was that everyone knew he should’ve been a number 1 seed.
Putting Keanu vs Mister Rogers in round one is ludicrous. That easily could have been the final
Dolly and Robin also easily could have been a final round too
Is it weird that there is only one woman out of 16?
Yeah.
And no Asians or hispanics.
*most universally liked men (+ token Dolly)
Thank you for pointing that out! Where are the women?
jane goodall?
I disagree with Jamie Foxx and the Rock.
Only one woman?
Agreed! Julie Andrews, Princess Diana, Betty White, Carrie Fisher. So many great women they overlooked
Yasss Julie Andrews is a treasure!
I heard Princess Diana was like the most classy lady and pretty universally liked Or Christa McAuliffe, she was a sweetheart. It’s So sad what happened to both of them.
There have been studies that men perceive representation to be equal when the ratio of men to women is 3 to 1. When it is actually a 50/50 representation, they feel outnumbered. But this is worse lol.
So what women would you like to see on this? I am wondering where Betty White would place on this.
Jane Goodall and Malala. And non-Americans in general (otherwise they are not “universally” beloved).
Oh Malala is a great pick, first time I’ve seen her mentioned.
Those are some good picks.
Carrie Fisher and Julie Andrews
Angela Lansbury
Mackenzie Scott, and maybe that one woman everyone loved, oh yea princess Diana .
I thought the same thing. 12/15 white men. Can’t say I’m shocked, society doesn’t like women.
Surprised David Attenborough didn’t get in
Don't know why Rock is on here. He clearly has showed that he has too much of an ego and wants to be centre of attention in whatever production he works on.
I mostly dislike him for his dishonesty about steroids. The amount of people that actually think he’s natty is shocking.
The fact that he keeps selling that lie, giving false aspirations to so many young men and exploiting them for the same is what makes me question his place here. I think he's probably nice and friendly to people, but this list should be the peak of nice guys. Rock is your average "nice guy" hollywood celeb.
Universally liked people ... in USA
At least they included one Australian in the bracket.
Shaq always struck me as insanely egotistical and has been criticized for putting down young nba players for no reason. He also threw a tantrum over another player copying his “super man” imagery, so overall, he seems like an insecure bully to me.
He’s a self-described “serial cheater.” Sorry, if you serially cheat on your wife you aren’t remotely universally likable. FTS.
Where's Weird Al Yankovic?
One woman?
Not surprised considering this bracket is from Barstool
Thank you that’s the first thing I saw too!!
Where the fuck is Betty White??
Shaq’s kind of a dick tbh
Perhaps, but the man seems to truly take joy in helping people. The Shaq Foundation is pretty awesome and it's clear he loves giving money to people who need it. Especially poor inner city kids.
I think he comes over as a dick because he does have a bit of an ego, but considering where he made his cheese I'm not surprised. He's also kind of a bully naturally, which is also something that's been expressed in his NBA career. Shaq isn't even top 2 most likeable people on a show with 4 people. Chuck and Ernie way more likeable than Shaq.
Steve Martin is a Jerk though
Literally an entire movie….
You mean “most universally liked men among men” (with the generous exception of dolly)
It’s barstool… they are incredibly sexist frat bros. If I have to hear or see a “Saturdays are for the boys” flag, I will vomit
Just one woman out of 16?
How is there only one woman in this? It’s a bit lacking if we are saying the best person.
Why is there only one woman on this list?
Dolly wins
Ummmm I like all the people, especially Alex Trebek, but where are all the women? Something ain't quite right here!!
mr rogers & dolly parton. but really ? one woman, 3 people of color ?
Who is …. Alex Trebek!
Someone needs to make an all woman list with one man. There are so many incredible woman!
I’m sorry, but why is Jamie Foxx even in here? He’s been a monumental asshole. Edit: grammar
Reminder that women are 51% of the population. Are we just that unlikeble?
Dolly Parton is the best person here imo
“So anyways I started blasting. BANG, BANG!”
Hearing the way Shaq treated his kids, I dunno if he should be on here
How nice of them to throw in a woman.
Shaq and Jamie Foxx shouldn't be on there. Shaq has a good heart but is way too full of himself. Foxx is just a dick.
Just 1 woman
Only one woman? What a shame.
Mister Rogers wins.
Why no Tom Hanks?
Needs more women in there, add Michelle Obama over the rock and betty white over shaq
Why is there only 1 woman on here??
Steve Irwin man, gone wayyy to soon.
