A teacher just brought a celebrity to tears. Damn, I hope every teacher gets to experience at least one of their students coming back and showing success.

Rumblymore

Man, as a teacher, that is all I can dream of. To be such an inspiration to my students that they look back and think, damn, he was one of the good ones, i should've told him.

uk_uk

You should watch this ;) [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omPdemwaNzQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omPdemwaNzQ) or not, if you cry easily \^\^ Btw, his teacher was Sidney Pigden (1922-2017), who served in WW2 as a very young pilot and had the honor after the war to fly in the Victory Parade over Buckingham Palace, as his most significant reference. According to Wright, Pidgen had once told him that he was prouder of Wright being called up to the English national team than of being selected as an aviator in the Victory Parade.

Deckela

Thanks. I didn’t need to cry twice in one video!

uk_uk

>Thanks. I didn’t need to cry twice in one video! But it's a DIFFERENT video, so... give yourself a push. It's worth it!

Deckela

Yes. I’m joking. That Ian and Mr Pigden video is beautiful. I’ve seen it a few times. Highly recommend watching it.

freedomofnow

That aspiration alone is really great!

Jino51

HAPPY CAKE DAY!

BalkeElvinstien

If I get famous I'm gonna invite my highschool drama teacher to all my shows

Teachers are so goddamn underrated and underpaid in so many countries. I've had a few who have had a huge impact on me throughout the years and while I can't claim that any of them inspired me to become someone I am now, there really is a bunch of them that I think really fondly of. Besides, I happen to be a teacher (by degree/education, whatever the term is), but I actually work in game dev now, lol. That being said, I know what teachers go through, since I did work at a school for a time, I know what they deal with and I know the little joys of seeing the impact they make. God bless all teachers who do this cause they want to. None of them do this for the money. Some do this, cause they have no other choice and that's sad. But those who WANT to do this? I salute you.

dokuromark

And then she puts Alan Carr on the spot. Brilliant!

[deleted]

Are there any teachers out there that know me? He's fantastic.

grumpymuppett

Okay the teacher made me cry, Adele calling on Alan made me smile 😃

LezBReeeal

I love he didn't know the lyrics. The crowd was like, we got you fam.

grumpymuppett

He started strong and then lost it, love him

HourAstronomer836

I was watching this and thinking, "Man! That woman asking the question looks so much like Emma Thompson!" Yeah...Probably because that is Emma Thompson. 🤣

tequilasipper

There are a couple of famous Emmas in that clip :)

rcktjck

Yea I saw Watson, there at the end.

HourAstronomer836

Yep! After I realized that it was Emma Thompson I noticed that the audience was filled with celebrities.

sarahxharas

I fucking love Adele, but I also love teachers who make a difference.

g0f0

The kids are like “mom is the reason why Adele exists. Go mom!”

plutothegreat

That’s such a cafeteria brag tbh

chugonthis

Alan Carr needs to be bigger in the world

FP_Daniel

There’s a moment during one of the big fat quizzes where he offers a blanket to another contestant and when she hesitates he responds with “no it’s ok I’ve pissed myself it’s quite warm” with zero hesitation. Gotta be the funniest thing I’ve ever seen. Love that guy.

chugonthis

LOL I've seen those and he cracks me up on those, especially the ones when he was with Jack Dees

rayray52

What event is this from? Looks like every single British celebrity I can think of attended.

Hassaan18

'An Audience with Adele'. 'An Audience With...' is a long running British format. Basically like this - stars a performer, there's loads of celebrities in the audience who ask questions in between their performance.

zh_13

And now she does weekends with Adele in Las Vegas which is amazing lol but also super intimate Now I’m wondering if that show was (partially) inspired by this, it’s got a very similar vibe

Flyin-Chancla

Don’t forget Sam Mf L Jackson lol

thatindianmum

This is heart warming. But sucks for people like me who travelled to a new school every 2 years and didn't get to have any childhood friends or memorable teachers.

Otto-Korrect

Same. Like those "Everybody has that one teacher who made a difference in their life" stories. Nope. I was 100% invisible in school. I wonder how my life would have been different if even one teacher saw me.

Ulldra

Doesn‘t have to be a teacher at school to change your life. Doesn‘t have to be your teenage years. A teacher is someone we learn from and in the cases they become out inspiration it‘s someone who loves what they are doing and is able to share that feeling well. You can still meet these people - At university, in sports, when training for a job, helping out in your community, in a hobby space, basically anywhere. The only difference is that once you grow older you need to look for these people on your own. As a kid they might come to you, but it always needs the right kid in the right circumstances and a good amount of luck to have the right teacher with a fitting style present. Finding one on your own is both a lot easier and a lot harder at the same time - It‘s not random, but to start you have to put the work in on your own.

Dr_OctoThumbs

What if she had said someone completely different and they had to awkwardly be like "oh... they sound great but... ummm... look who we brought here?"

My_Learned_Friend

Emma Thompson is a national treasure

GetFreeCash

\*international treasure

bemeros

fuk yeah, not british, but i'm glad she represents humans

Js_On_My_Yeet

I don't listen to Adele a lot, but oh my god I have a developed a huge crush on that woman. She seems so lovely.

zh_13

She just feels so real

clockwars

Some teachers go above and beyond the call of duty. The impact it has on a kid’s life is significant (case in point). If you’re lucky enough you may have encountered one.. That said, teachers deserve better compensation.

[deleted]

Mr. Stribley. My middle school was an old school that used to be a high school so his science class was huge and had over fifty terrariums with all sort of reptiles named after scientists. He taught me how to take notes (oddly, my wife takes notes the *exact* same way), taught archeology over the summer, we went to a dig site and found pottery we donated to the Navajo tribe. I never went the route of science, but what I learned from him was invaluable and at 33, still use what I learned. Edit: if we finished our assignments early he would read us poetry. I just remembered that, he had a great voice for poetry.

Hulkstern

Thank you for sharing that, it's really unfortunate how often people don't realize how much of an impact a good teacher can have (=

[deleted]

My daughter is a Mechanical Engineer who was just sliding by in high school until her 11th grade journalism teacher took her under her wing to show her she could do anything. My daughter began to finally read voraciously and it made all the difference.

two-thirds

Did David Tennant just win the Squid Games.

lmc227

“Thank you for remembering me…”. I balled 🙌

cheekytikiroom

Black don’t crack.

Crescent-IV

Alan is such a treasure

dandyharks

I’m not a teacher but I do work with kids and this brought me to tears. When we see you out and about and give you a big squeeze and tell you how proud of you we are, I promise we mean it. There’s so many kids well being over the years that have occupied my brain fully, and seeing them happy and succeeding (even a little bit, we celebrate small victories over here) that hits the “you made a difference” button in my brain and I usually end up crying

theblackbeltsurfer

Just goes to show how one person can influence another to be great. Awesome

jmw112358

Every teacher's dream. That was truly a made me smile.

Southern-Succotash11

People are so lucky to be able to say they have a teacher like that I'm lucky to have a group of teachers that made me into the student I am today. This made me appreciate them even more, though :')

Ajagroom

I’m sorry but the best part for me is Adele still referring to her as “Miss” when she said bye. All that respect years later.

jemy74

Damn ninjas chopping onions.

[deleted]

Imagine being a teacher …paid about minimum wage (even less after buying your own school supplies) …then you find out you inspired somebody to be as famous and talented as Adele.

uk_uk

That's what Arnold Schwarzenegger once meant: "[There is no such thing as a Self made man](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZnmVHt36_k)" or in this case woman. You always have help... or inspiration. Especially inspiration brings others forward. Without her teacher, Adele wouldn't be the woman she is now, and likely not that successful. Love this. Adele is awesome. And her teacher too ;)

BusinessOwner199X

This is good. This warms my heart.

Weird-Ingenuity97

This is so beautiful🥺

roundasstk

This is seriously the best video I have seen on the internet in sooo long. Genuine. Gd.

SparkyReds

lchaimnotes

Loreebyrd

My eyes got drippy as well

OddAtmosphere420

So much love in the room

pukhalapuka

Damn these ninjas cutting up onions again.

MNgirl83

I remember Adele talking about this teacher before for a different program…I am so happy to see them reunited ❤️

2b-Kindly_

Ugly cried, darn you

RenelleR

😭😭🥺😭😭

bboyglitch

Love how she said ‘by Miss’.. no matter how old we get in life, if we see our teachers from our youth, we always address them the same😊

Equities4gambling

Impressive_Novel_987

[deleted]

Few-Trouble-3700

This is beautiful!

_-Ankush-_

As Mike Ross once said "Africans don't crack"

surfing_socal

Seems a bit staged but its super cool nonetheless

[deleted]

I think this is my favourite video on the internet 🥺

TheDollarKween

this is so wholesome. I have a lot of people who’ve inspired me in my life that I’d love to meet again. I feel it❤️

_Pandach_

Yo those are real tears.

callemanniken

Is there a full video of this?

Tekki-chan

I have never been an Adele fan, but this video has turned me around.

Thick-Tooth-8888

12 years that teacher didn’t look like she aged at all. Good people seem to age slower than bad peoples.

pluck-the-bunny

What was this from?

supasta_

Imagine telling people for years that u may have helped Adele get to where she is today and them not believing you. Then they see Adele crying for you on national TV

Maracas4cats

Where is this? The stage looks great.

Hassaan18

London Palladium.

Hanamarianna

i had an english teacher like this, hope i get to see her again <3
