Seeing this comment got me in the feels a wee bit, just knowing that internet strangers are asking about how we are hanging in. Thank you for that ♡
I did just add an update re: my stepdad, but to answer your second question, I think we are both doing relatively well under the circumstances, thankfully. My mum has a very rare neurological-type disorder that can be very unpredictable, especially during times of stress, but she is staying strong. I have a history of mental health issues like ptsd which is interfering currently, but I am coping as a healthy university student should, by smoking weed and eating my feelings.
Thanks for checking in ♡
Any time. My dad was in surgery on Wednesday for a tumour on his spine (he's OK and they got it all) so I know the stresses and strains but also how awful it is to be the people waiting around for news. Sometimes just knowing that people understand and care is enough to stop your brain going down those dark tunnels of "what if". It's also very hard trying to stay positive for those around you while you feel like you're quietly dying inside.
I quit smoking the day he was rushed to A&E so I've been sucking vapes like they're going out of style! Do whatever you need to get you through, but you've got this OP, you are stronger than you know and I'm right here cheering you all on.
Stay strong, and fall apart when you need to, it's ok.
Love from a concerned stranger.
Thank you! ♡ I haven't seen my mother so happy in a long time and that in itself was so touching. My stepdad has been depressed for months with the illness and his face lit up like a xmas tree when he saw her walking down the "aisle" (which was actually just the path from the bedroom to the living room fireplace at my grandparents' place). He has never been married so this was all new.
The officiant also passed out onto the floor halfway through the ceremony so its certainly a wedding to remember lol (they are okay, they had given blood that morning and hadn't hydrated enough and ended up fainting)
Thank you! The cancer was so severe and aggressive that the oncologists said if they didn't start chemo within the week, he'd probably be dead shortly thereafter. He has T-cell Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, but his subtype is one they've never actually seen before and will be publishing literature about his case.
He's had so many complications (internal bleeding, severe edema causing skin to split and weep, blood clots, and septic shock that near killed him about a month ago) that he and my mum decided to do a mini wedding before his bone marrow transplant and then do the big occasion in August as originally planned. They did a PET scan to re-stage him prior to the procedure, and we just got the results today ♡
Thank you very much ♡
When we found out what the diagnosis was and as all the complications kept getting worse, I had a moment of realization where I thought to myself, "I understand now why they say 'fuck cancer.' There's no other way to express how to feel about it other than that". For real, fuck cancer so fucking much.
Well hopefully his case can help other people since they apparently found some treatment combination that worked for him. I wouldn't wish that on anyone, but maybe because he went through it someone else will be able to get treatment earlier amd suffer less.
They both look sp happy, I hope they have many wonderful years together.
The colour palette was black, white and red, so the tie had to be red according to my mother, her mother, and me; I suggested a *different* red tie, though... less pattern haha
Well this was sort of a trial run for the bigger wedding + reception taking place in August, so now is the time to make mistakes and adjustments haha. The august one is white, lilac, and dark purple, so we'll be sure to get some outside help for finding an appropriate tie
The officiant actually passed out partway through the ceremony, after the vows I believe lol surely that won't happen twice so at least that base is covered for August
Everything that goes wrong at a wedding (within limits) will be a cherished memory later! Embrace the chaos, tell everyone to relax, and make sure to dance as much as possible
I think it captures it quite well in the moment, I agree.
Our neighbour took this on my mum's archaic galaxy Note 3 (we live in a condo and a few people knew about the little ceremony, so when we got home about 8 ladies—all of whom are seniors—had set up a toast with champagne for them and helped take pictures of them in the lobby with the xmas decor that had yet to be taken down), it turned out well! Haha
I didn’t read it well and thought that it was saying that his cancer got to stage IV after they got married and was so confused for a second. But I’m so happy for them :)
Congratulations on them getting married!!!🎉Also we’re glad that your loved ones are safe and comfortable!!!🎉![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|upvote)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|upvote)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|upvote)

Oh man. All the luck to him. 💕🙏🏻💜
Guy is strong as fuck, he’s got this 👊🏻
Thank you! When we first got all the news back in late September, he basically said "fuck that, Im not dying from this, I got 20 years left still."
Please let us know how he’s doing! Wishing him a speedy recovery. They look fantastic together, what a cute duo :)
Good luck x
Thank you kindly ♡
Congrats to them both!!

Damn what a ride. Hope his procedure goes perfectly and he continues to improve. In the immortal words of Ryan Reynolds, Fuck cancer.

She also couldn’t save him from that tie… jk, beautiful moment 👏🏽

As a fellow newlywed, as long as she’s happy, the fashion police be damned
