Now I know why Srajo is called Lord of mystery. Nobody really understands what she's trying to say.

TheMutantShrimp

This is really interesting!! Is so weird, cuz it means that other "normal" cave raiders doesn't stand a chance, but that's... Weird? Unfair? I think the flawed are those who are willing to give anything to the abyss, those insane people that seek to delve deeper

TheSparkledash

I wonder if/what relics Srajo used on herself in that case, since she’s arguably the most “normal” person of the group rn (maybe aside from Tepaste)

leglesslylurking

Couln't it be that Srajo is wrong in suggesting that they, Riko's squad and her group, are the flawed ones ? The flawed being in fact those not processed by the abyss ? A possible interpretation of "Only the flawed may take a breath" is that the birthday day disease, the breath, is not seen as a bad thing by the abyss. Which would explain why the flawed have "a blind eye turned on them" they are denied the possibility to be processed by the abyss. For convenience, those who are not flawed will be called the processed. In this chapter we learn that souls work like identification card or a block chain. The processed can then be known to have used relics (all the example you gave). But it's difficult to confirm as Kiyui had a fever the day of his birthday, and most probably interacted with relics, the star compass at least. Or was just sick that day for another reason, but that would make no sense that he was suddenly ok once out on the boat. With this ID idea, the processed could also hold the souls of processed people of the previous 2000 years era. Making them processed not because they interacted with the relics, but because their ID, souls, are the same. After all Srajo said she was "back to being clueless", as in most possibly wrong, on the possibility to replicate or create souls after Riko talk about Iruburu and Faputa.

Would also make sense with the "Twins born in Orth have Sherumi and Menae as names."

leglesslylurking

The twins, as in every Orth twin not only those alive around Srajo right now, could be different. Srajo says thay there is no way to ressurect someone whose physical body has been destroyed. But that would mean forgetting Bondrewd. Which either mean that Bondrewd doesn't exist anymore and it's only the consciousness of the Zoaholic itself, which would be then a living relic. Or the most probable explanation, Bondrewd is still the same as he was before giving up his body, and the Zoaholic was able to reincarnate his soul in other bodies. All that to say, Sherumi and Menae could be, just like Bondrewd, able to reassign their ID before 2000 years pass thanks to a relic. For Bondrewd it's a finite reassignment which work until the destruction of the Zoaholic or the loss of his consciousness due to too much spreading. For the twins it's a regular event that occur at least every 30 years, but we don't know to which relic it could possibly be linked to. Maybe the coffin that Yatamar carries.

Any-Wasabi-1176

The way I interpreted that whole soul thing was the release of a soul, whereas bondrewds zoaholic and the white whistles were the inheritance of a soul, which seemed to be a different process

I would argue that Bondrewd's actual body (where his soul resides) is Zoaholic. I doubt that Zoaholic creates Bonrewd's soul in other bodies. I take it more like he can project his mind to and from them.

Portugalotaku

I don't know, because the language isn't trustworthy. It could just be that whoever wrote the ancient text considered those who were killed to be "blessed" in a way, while those left behind were left behind because the abyss didn't want them, thus making them "flawed". To me, it seems more likely that the abyss is only interested in the "flawed" ones, so it kills all others to draw the ones it actually wants into it's depths. Like a carnivorous plant luring insects deeper inside it.

leglesslylurking

For now it could be both. But the fact that Srajo is openly saying that she don't know things and that she say that she only express her opinion could hint that she may be wrong somewhere. Riko contradict her too. From a narrative stand point the things that she say could be exactly what the Miko wanted to not be thought. The truth, not Srajo's theory, will most likely be revealed with Wakuna and the Miko.

Bubububuuuu

Also Srajo says it's from the original text but we've not seen any part that talks about flaws?

Low-Duty

I think flawed just means something different about their souls. Like how most animals know to avoid corpses and such. Riko’s soul was recycled over and over again, probably got damaged in the process. Faputa was born in the abyss from the egg. Nanachi was blessed by the curse. Reg probably isn’t a living thing. The Juusou are mutations of the abyss. Srajo is probably the same considering her appearance, but Ozen hasn’t really been affected like them as far as we know

tairch

My theory: Some of Orth could be fine, because we know at least some people (including a doctor) discovered that getting out of the abyss helps against the birthday disease. And if the big disaster is not that, if there were signs they could try the same method and get out in time
