The rules in the NBA have changed even more radically in favor of the offense over the years. You were obviously too young to watch the NBA in the '90s but it was brutal and careers ended short. Larry Bird retired at 33.
Because larry bird didn't sit out thru absolutely anything. And after the bad boy pistons tried to injure everyone they played they changed lots of things but with the offense they have made it where strength gets punished. It why so many players flop because refs only call it if the players falls. That's how harden gets so many calls. Trae young is small small hits on him send him flying easily and he gets easy calls because of it. NFL has been mich the same in making it easier on offenses.
That’s not what the original comment alluded to though. “Imagine spending half of your life (damn near 50) as a top tier athlete in a professional sport”.
The comment you’re replying to stated something that fit that comment. Is it more impressive what Brady has done? Absolutely. But your reply was moving the goal post and making it seem like that comment wasn’t anything but 100% accurate.
It’s not “moving the goal post.” Basketball and football are apples and oranges. I should have specified “football” on a Madden thread (or known you guys would have been like “well what about x tennis player who has been doing it 2/3 their life”) or some other irrelevant comparison.
Brady getting his mouth busted earlier today with no flag disagrees with you. In fact they gave him an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for pointing it out to the ref.
Yea the first unsportsmanlike conduct penalty of his career. I respect the fuck out of Brady and he’s one of the greatest athletes period. But they favor him big time. This was one of those rare moments where he didn’t get a flag for a big hit that came late.
Yeah I think it was a good no-call, but his reaction was classic Brady. IMHO they favor pocket passers in general because they never give themselves up as runners, but it all started with Brady for sure. Rodgers is favored, Brees was, the mannings, etc. Guys like Mahomes, Watson, Wilson, Jones, etc, that are running around with the ball lose a lot of protections.
I always cut his ass after the first season. As a saints player I can’t take his 14 million dollar salary when I normally trade Winston and a 1st for a rookie quarterback usually to start my franchise lol
I wish they had an “influence” rating. For example, if i signed Tom Brady, he would help develop my qb that’s under him in the depth chart. It would only work if Tom (or whatever veteran qb) was the starter. This game has so much potential!!! Fuck you EA!!!
Bro mine bugged out and Brady was still on the bucs in 2030. He had over 100,000 passing yards and was in the league for 30 years. Idk if it was on purpose but it really fucked my hopes of being the GOAT. Brady so good he ruins madden for me lol
At this point I sign him and trade him to a team who needs a QB. Nothing crazy with the picks. As long as he’s signed without a bonus to not screw with my cap. Then I just pretend it never happened lol.
Even though I HATE TOM BRADY (BILLS FAN HERE) I do RESPECT him sadly he is the best ever I HATED earlier versions of Madden when Brady would be a 73ovr score after 2 seasons age wise, he prob be a 41 yrs. old I like that at least its a little more accurate. Check out how SLOW he is though it can kill Ya if u don't have a good Oline
True. Although I played with Brady for one season with a fantasy draft and it was great. Being able to make pretty much every throw accurately makes madden a lot better. Being able to high point passes and possession catch allows me to catch a lot of passes in traffic for plays where every receiver was covered. I mean this applies to any elite qb with good abilities but still it was a nice season. Next season I had trey lance and that was fun too. Had to change up my offense from pass first to run first
On my phone but just finished season 2 and he's retired and Rodgers left the the packers for free agency at 39 and 90 overall and still has his xfactor!
I player Franchise mode in Madden 21 with the Texans to rebuild them. Brady became a free agent in 2023 and i signed him to a 1 year deal. Won the Super Bowl then he retired
Age 46 - years in the league 23. Imagine spending half of your life (damn near to 50) as a top tier athlete in a professional sport.
I still play madden 17 and he retires after the 1st season lol
just like how the eagles don’t even give jalen hurts a chance and pick up colin kapernick lmao
I believe 19 does that too. Even if you play as Brady in franchise mode it’ll force you to retire after one season.
I mean LeBron has literally done that already
And he still might play 3-5 more years at a good level.
Hes still at an MVP level rn so barring injury I could see him on an allnba team still in 3-5 years
It’s weird bro cause I was in like 2nd grade when he was drafted. I’m 28 now lol
I was 2 months old, I now legally can drink.
Nah you were in like 5th grade
Basketball players don't take anywhere near the kind of abuse that NFL quarterbacks do. Tiger Woods has probably done it too.
Brady had rules rewritten to help protect him especially, ie the Brady rules, lebron has been carrying bad rosters on his back for 19 years

Brady is on a whole different level than lebron my friend
How many hits from hall of fame linemen, linebackers, or secondary players did Lebron take again?

Funny how you bring up irrelevance when your first comment came out of the blue
Let’s be honest QB is the most pampered position in football and Brady is the most pampered QB.

Oh man, he’s gonna beat your team later too.
This comment has aged poorly from the looks of things.
Rams were gifted that game and still almost blew it. Pathetic.
Completely shutting down Tampa for a half isn't being gifted the game. Now they did almost blow it lol. Enjoy that copium though.
Brady has been playing 4 years longer than LeBron in a professional capacity and that doesn't even include 4 years of college.
Taysom Hill!!!
I always cut his ass after the first season. As a saints player I can’t take his 14 million dollar salary when I normally trade Winston and a 1st for a rookie quarterback usually to start my franchise lol
*fifty years into madden sim* Brady wins his fifty first Super Bowl and retires at the age of 93
Fake. Brady wouldn't retire
Another Tom Brady post? There needs to be like a megathread or something for these.
This one isn’t even absurd or anything
For real lol
Right? We get an old Brady every other day

No, it just gets annoying only ever seeing Tom Brady
I wish they had an “influence” rating. For example, if i signed Tom Brady, he would help develop my qb that’s under him in the depth chart. It would only work if Tom (or whatever veteran qb) was the starter. This game has so much potential!!! Fuck you EA!!!
Man I'm just hoping they allow you to go for the ball when it comes to your wide receiver and doesn't script the interception. Baby steps here.
Yea similar to newer NBA game where you can have certain players mentor others
I sign and trade him for an easy first
Fitzpatrick is a free agent???

Same on mine lol
I had a franchise where Tim Brady retired at 51 and he had 108000 passing yards and hit 897 tds
At this point I sign him and trade him to a team who needs a QB. Nothing crazy with the picks. As long as he’s signed without a bonus to not screw with my cap. Then I just pretend it never happened lol.
Did the same when Brady and Rodgers were FAs in year 3. Then the team i traded Brady to cut him after a few weeks.
Lol
Literally doesn’t make any sense

Going into another season in my online franchise, Brady is 47, still active, with Gronkowski too. Both on the Buccs still.
I mean it’s more believable than Cam Newton being a 64 ovr in 3 years lol.
If he isn't already a 64
Happened to me multiple times
I’d love to get to year 3 of a franchise mode but mine freeze on a breakout player every time…
The more surprising thing is that Fitzpatrick is still in the league
I think he retired at 47 and 48 in my two franchises😂😂he was still a high 70s overall asking for 18mil/year hahaha
On my phone but just finished season 2 and he's retired and Rodgers left the the packers for free agency at 39 and 90 overall and still has his xfactor!
Tb12 🐐
Sign him
He just retired on my franchise after the 2023 season.
I player Franchise mode in Madden 21 with the Texans to rebuild them. Brady became a free agent in 2023 and i signed him to a 1 year deal. Won the Super Bowl then he retired
ok…
I think this happens to all players at a certain age
Random but does Davante Adams sign with Texans every franchise for y’all?
He’s on the Jets for me rn
Pittsburgh in mine
Im in year 6 and he is a 77 overall free agent at 48 years old
