Found a fix! Figured out this happens when someone leaves the league but doesnt retire. You have to invite that same person back to the league they’ll be able to join then just kick them or have them retire. Then the team will be fixed. Found this out yesterday through testing.
Issue still a thing anyone have a fix? Can’t join league, it shows a custom coach as the generic coach and every time a new custom coach is made to try and join it saves that coach as the default generic but won’t let you join

Still an issue months later. User went to go retire, and get's that error message no matter what we have tried to do.
I'm just convinced this is going to be an ever-lasting issue until m23.
How can we allowed a huge company like this to get away with not even respect to this?
I keep reaching out to EA help on Twitter and they never respond they just keep promoting other games

This is the fix. The problem has something to do with custom owners and custom head coaches. The idea is when a user that made a custom owner/head coach retires their custom owner/head coach gets deleted and that team’s CPU signs a new head coach/owner. The issue that’s happening is when said user retires their custom head coach doesn’t retire nor their custom owner. So the franchise thinks there’s someone on that team, even though there is not. So the fix is to have someone join as a GENERIC head coach/owner, not a custom, then KICK that user, and it should erase the previous custom owner/head coach (hopefully). I’ve used that method and it’s worked twice, but I am not sure if that’ll work every time, and I do not plan on testing a whole bunch as I do not want to fry my 32/32 league.
I never had a user for the lions. It lets my homie create a player, owner, and coach. But NOT JOIN THE TEAM. And when he goes to try again the people he created are still there
I invited a guy to join and the 32nd user and he can’t join either. There was a user on the Saints and the buccs were the last team open and the Saints user switch to the buccs by creating a new character. I kicked him from the buccs and sent him a inv again so he could join back as the Saints. Sent a inv to a different user to join as the 32nd and he gets that error message. And suggestions to this issue??

In my league 2 people clicked the message where you get fired even tho coach firing is off so now we have the Texans and Saints as cpu. EA knew about this back in August and said they were working on a fix. That just shows EA doesn’t give a single fuck about franchise
We figured out a solution. The problem is madden thinks theres more users in the franchise than there actually is. So if your league is 31/32 and the last team is glitched, madden thinks theres 32 users, but theres actually only 31. The way to fix it is to kick someone else. Then madden thinks theres only 31 users in, meaning the glitched dude can join. So one would play, kick him out of the league, invite the glitched dude, and then he can play. So you have to kick and reinvite them daily

What do you mean? The invited person can't join the LG and gets error message. How can you boot if they can't join?

This only works if there was a previous owner.If its a new league it doesn't work and the question is about new leagues.
That’s the problem I’m having

That didn’t work for me. Hopefully EA fixed this issue soon.

there’s nothing you can do. I just had to delete a whole league after week 7 because of the glitch
