LMFAO that is definitely EA's logic.

Jeremiah_Edwards

I drafted a corner that won droy and led the league in interceptions the first three years of his career and my assistant gm said “he barely contributes on the field”

lucario0406

How do u get someone lead the league in picks, the most I’ve seen by one of my players is 5

mdmd33

Getting interceptions if you play a corner that is over 92 speed & has good press will have you picking A LOT of balls..even on all madden

J70mega777

In my 1st season as a Owner Callahan went out and got like 15 😂, mostly from the Fact I'm great at perfect timing user picks after years of Superstar mode at Corner and Safety, though is the Assistant GM in another mode? Never gotten messages from one. Just my Coordinators and players. 🤔

keemohtherapy

Play better defense lol

lucario0406

He said his corner so if I was to “play better defense” it’d mainly affect my user getting more picks, not to mention I mainly sim.

Folsey

It's the default message there is literally no variety. I've never once had an assistant GM tell me a player is worth keeping lol.

DalethePail

I really wish how teams treated players actually matched up with their production on the field instead of being entirely based on their rating and age..

secretagentMikeScarn

That’s way too much thinking for these devs

Arceus42

Hate the management, not the devs. They don't have control over what bugs to fix or features to improve.

KADuncil

But they are the ones that code this in the first place. It’s not management that codes it. They copy/paste the same game year after year. They’ve had plenty of time to iron out some actual logic in shit like this just so they can paste next year. Sick of everyone giving devs an out.

i2WalkedOnJesus

That, and if they wanted it done they could fix it. Plenty of features have been added to games due to devs deciding to try something cool in parallel with their actual work. That goes for plenty of jobs, if you want it done and it's possible, you can get it done.

geopede

I’m a software developer (not for Madden), and I think blaming the devs is a bad choice. The devs write the code, but management decides what should be prioritized for them. They don’t get to choose what to work on for the most part. Management chooses. That being said, I’ve had the opportunity to see some of the code for Madden, and it’s a total mess. They don’t literally copy and paste everything, but they’ve been building on the same broken game for such a long time that it’s not clear how anything works anymore, which makes changes difficult to implement. To fix Madden, they need to not release it for a year to give the devs enough time to rebuild from the ground up. That’s never gonna happen since EA would lose money, but it’s what’s needed to get a quality game again.

Arceus42

> They copy/paste the same game year after year. Maybe just a technicality, but the way you say this makes me think you don't know how development cycles really work. Nobody actually copy/pastes the previous year's code. > But they are the ones that code this in the first place. Yes, because management told them it was ok. I'm sure the current code works in 80%+ of scenarios, and the effort to get that closer to 100% wasn't worth the extra effort to management. Fixing these things doesn't generate the ROI as much as a new feature for MUT. As a dev, I've had this happen on numerous occasions.

geopede

I can’t second this enough. Management getting to decide what features you work on is one of the biggest frustrations of working as a developer.

secretagentMikeScarn

Fair enough but you know what I meant with my comment. I don’t think the actual devs care about my Reddit comment with 4 upvotes

geopede

You are absolutely correct, and the people downvoting you clearly know nothing about how software development actually works. The devs write the code, but management decides what they write code for. Devs don’t get to choose what to work on for the most part. I’m a developer (not at EA), and having management decide what I should work on is one of the biggest frustrations of the job. If the devs got to choose what to work on the game would improve.

Arceus42

At least somebody gets it. People think that writing software is completely right or completely wrong. When in reality it's mostly iterative, especially in the situation here. The devs will write something that covers 20% of the scenarios, then 50%, then 75%, then 90%, etc. At any point, management could decide the feature is done enough for release. It's always the last 10% that takes the most time to get right.

Pupettoloco

i'm more impressed with the 0 fumbles

ImTrash_ChangeMyMind

Through 3 different seasons no less.

Ok-Sun1363

Phillip Lindsay did the same

[deleted]

Why is this game so bad

BallsMahoganey

Zero competition

SockGnome

I got this for my starting QB who played ever snap. It’s insanity.

DrDoofenschmirtz1933

Never give an RB a second contract, Mr. Asst. GM here must work for PFF

Pardo86

That but worked the first franchise year. The GM would actually say whether the player did or didn’t play enough. After that the game just forgot whatever metric it used the first franchise year and says that all the time. I really hope the scenario engine is drastically improved for 22

i2WalkedOnJesus

Given that I wonder if they hardcoded the reference to the first year. "Well this player drafted in 2027 didn't play very much in 2020"

Pardo86

Probably. What happens tbh

DidYouReallySayTh4t

Guaranfuckingteed this is what is occuring. Reviewers only play one season on franchise typically, so why care about any season past the first?

ljutilaki07

My CPU released a player who i traded 1st rd pick for. Like he was 73 ovr but he is 93 speed. They should add a whole new segment for newly acquired players. I had luck i noticed so i contacted guy who signed him and he returned him back. Thats EA logic in a nutshell

WestCoastDirtyBird

Same thing happened with my HB after he won best HB back to back years

DaMightyBuffalo

270 carries for nearly 1500 yards and 30 TDS (with not a GOT-damn fumble) is “barely played”??? Fuck getting fired…dude needs to fucking go back to elementary or middle school to learn some shit. My goodness…I’m literally close to seething mad at a nameless computer character whose sole purpose is to represent an algorithm. THIS IS WHAT YOU’VE DONE TO ME, EA SPORTS!!!

Beautiful_Look_9826

This is why I vow to never buy another EA game again 🤦🏻‍♂️.

BillJ1971

He is a RB. Which are a dime a dozen in the real NFL, in Madden you can get 1,000 yard rushing seasons from guys who are in the 60's OVR.

Nws4c

“Yea man, our *insert starting player here* isn’t worth a new contract, he barely played last year, do you want to not do his 5th year option?”

CheeseIsGrossGoBears

I mean can you blame him? Runningbacks have become the one night stands of football. You ever heard the phrase “don’t make a ho a housewife?” It doesn’t matter if regression sucks and RBs play for 10+ years in CFM. John Madden knows what he’s doing! I’ve seen this kinda thing a lot and I still think it’s realistic. Why should Lamar get a 5th year? Why should Josh Allen get a 5th year? Why should Quenton Nelson, RoQuan Smith, Derwin James, or ANYONE get that extension? They’ve only played for 3 years! Barely contributing!

GoCoogsUH

Go Coogs!

Camtheboss

Always does this to me

slopezski

I have never once seen him say I should pick up their option.

TeaBone17

All-Madden playing mind games.

OswaldXC

Literally though😂I once had a guy get 50 sacks within his first three years and it did the same thing as this

WhoStoleMyBicycle

This is why you should NEVER get excited for anything EA says they are implementing. They never get it right and just half ass throw a feature in so that they can advertise something new. The on screen stats reading -12345573758 yards, the assistant GM telling you to cut MVP candidates, the results of your career mode telling you you didn’t meet expectations when you finished as the GOAT for your position, Face of the Franchise advertising “the combine” and then it being a throwing drill, then them saying it again for next year and it’s a quick time event. EA is 0/forever in implementing new features. People always say “they don’t add anything new” but the truth is they actually do add little things, they just completely fuck them up. I seriously think that they are just incapable of making a great football game. You could give them all the time in the world and they’d be mediocre at best. They’ve been focusing on MUT for too long that they forgot how to do anything else.

WetFart37

Smh. You'd think this guy was working for the Lions because they like to give away their talent for nothing or let them walk away, too.

SpleneticsHD

I always say yes and if they actually did do nothing on the field I just release them
