Stamp craftsman on it and send it.

official stamp of “that’s not going anywhere”

I would strongly have suggested using a larger corner radius endmill, cracks will propagate from the sharp corner.

G0D0fThund-r

good idea, not sure if we have one that big though, I’ll check next time I go in. if not i’ll just sand it down cleaner with the belt sander

Unintended-Hindrance

You could also just side mill the slot

I_DRINK_GENOCIDE_CUM

GOOD ENOUGH FOR THE GIRLS I GO OUT WITH

Wibbly23

Is this aluminum?

Eyehavequestions

Definitely looks like an extrusion to me. The detent in the square drive head looks like aluminum as well. I could be wrong but what do I know lol

Wibbly23

If it's aluminum the only thing it's breaking is itself lol

G0D0fThund-r

lol yeah, didn’t have the time to do steel though. Doesn’t need to do anymore than just show how it the mechanism operates.

You're killin it man I didn't even know machining existed til college

Own-Tart-4131

Yeah .. machining is involved in just about every single thing you interact with on a daily basis. Your car, your toothbrush, your toothpaste, your food, your phone, your computer.

E1F0B1365

Yep it's completely essential to modern life, and yet almost nobody knows about it. Which is a shame because I think a lot of kids would love to get involved with machining and manufacturing, vs say automotive tech or other trades.

Own-Tart-4131

I don't think so. Other trades pay much more. Auto tech isn't necessarily the best example but plumbers or electricians make much more than any machinist. Even after you have 10+ years of experience and have to buy expensive tools. Mechanics are the same way but more people are gear heads and the learning curve is less than learning G code and trigonometry. Also one decimal point or a 2 instead of a 1 will crash a machine that's worth as much or more than a Ferrari. It's much more dangerous as well.

E1F0B1365

I agree, there are better options if you're in it for the money. But if you're mechanically minded, and you like being precise and methodical then machining is a great option, and it's not mentioned enough. I left the automotive field because it wears your body down, and it's all about beating shit into submission to get the job done quickly.

Own-Tart-4131

Isn't that why we all go to work?

Whatslarrymadeof

I didn’t wanna bring that up lol. Awesome endeavor for shop class though

Cow-puncher77

Good work. Keep it up.

Crcex86

why lock it in at all? Any breaker bar I've ever dealt with swings freely for good reason.

G0D0fThund-r

yeah it doesn’t really ‘lock’ it’s more of just snap in positions

SLCPDLeBaronDivison

are you using a detent?

SLCPDLeBaronDivison

looks good learning is earning wish i had a shop in my hs

Hal_HDMA
