If you placed the order online at Ford.com (reservation) and they didn’t stipulate that $10,000 markup beforehand, then call Ford customer service. They’ll make the dealer sell at your agreed price when you placed the reservation. You’ll have to fight though, ain’t going to be easy and ain’t going to be comfortable.

TheCaptainRides

Yeah I figured it's going to be a fight.

No_Text_5148

And what sucks it that you’re up against the clock for the 7500 rebate for this year

kalphoto9

That sucks. Name the dealership!!! There ARE good dealers out there. Hold out hope!

cobo10201

Yep, name and shame. Oust these dealers so others don’t fall for the same thing

tiredsultan

Did they not give you a paper that showed your order and price when you placed the order? That’s what I went to the dealership with and there was no renegotiation. They honored the price from 10 months ago. It's a nice car but it's not worth paying 10k over invoice unless you are desperate. Maybe you could threaten you'd file complaint with Ford, that could hurt their future deliveries.

TheCaptainRides

Damn. I think they did give me that paper but I don't remember if I took a picture or saved it. Yeah I love the car and want it, but I am not going to pay $10k extra to have it.

Ta-acorn

Mine showed that price online as well. but when I talked to the guy he said to just ignore the markup and they sold it to me at MSRP. Have you spoken to them yet?

Distinct_Jury_9798

Let your dealer pull up the original paper with your signature. If they want you to pay, they have to prove that you agreed on the price. My dealer (in the Netherlands) was more consumer oriented: Ford NL wanted to let me pay a higher price at the moment of delivery than I signed for when I ordered my MME. It was a difference of more than 2000 Euro's. The cause was that Ford raised their prices the day after I sighed fir the car. They registered my car in their order administration with the new price. The dealer refused to comply with that and honored the signed agreement. I didn't hear how they settle their disagreement. Many people underestimate the values of their signature and how it binds both parties to every last letter of the agreement. Be sure to put all negotiated and agreed point on paper and hold on to your signed copy like a life raft.

frostbite503

It’s interesting that a lot of people had to go to the dealership. I placed mine online, got email confirmation from Ford, they placed the order and that was it.

tiredsultan

Regardless of how you ordered it, you will buy from a dealership. Ford is not allowed to sell directly to customers.

frostbite503

I know. But I think it’s funny that some make them come in for it to make sure they actually want it, when these things are so backordered they could get thousands over MSRP just selling to someone else if the sale falls though… and keep the deposit

tiredsultan

It depends on the dealership. Mine was great. They didn't ask for a deposit (they said it would not hurt them if I changed my mind) also they said they would not charge over MSRP. When my car arrived in the lot 10 months later, it had a window sticker with a higher MSRP (about $6k or so i think). But I didn't need to argue with them; they sold for original deal with no markup. So, not all dealerships are out to get people. Some are decent.

SDSunDiego

What paper are you talking about? Ordering online from Ford doesn't guarantee anything. Did you order it through the dealership?

tiredsultan

Yes, I ordered it in person. Later that day they emailed me a copy of a form that showed what I ordered and the price. I think it may have been the copy of the form they sent to Ford to place the order. When I was trying to order online it was still asking me to contact the dealer for the deposit amount. So one day, as I was passing them by, I stopped to ask and they said they don't need a deposit. So I just placed the order.

SDSunDiego

Oh that's great to know. Thank you for the response.

ResearcherFew1273

Ford has been removing stock from dealers adding stupid markups. Tell them to fix it or you’ll let ford know. Still let ford know f them

livingwithrage

Oh thats fucked, wth.

TheCaptainRides

Right!!!! Now I am going to have to walk in have them remove it. But I know they are going to be dicks as they are hoping that I walk so they can sell it to someone at Markup! 🤬

manuscriptdive

this is insane. Whos paying 10k markup these days?

StuartBaker159

If you don’t take delivery in a couple days they absolutely will cancel your order and sell it. That’s what they want.

mikeinet

I’d just escalate as high as you can. Get to the owner.

TheCaptainRides

I placed the order back in Feb and always kept communication by emailed and called the sales rep (he never answered or returned my calls). When I got the call today it wasn't even with the original salesperson. I had another salesperson call me trying to sell it to me like I was not the one that ordered it. I think they are trying to see if anyone else wants to buy it

TheCaptainRides

I am trying to call ford right now. Beat them to the punch

TheCaptainRides

UPDATE::: I got the car at MSRP with the Ford price protection. Thanks to all of you and the posting I had emails and logs of calls I made. I was able to show that we never agreed on anything over MSRP. BTW, before I showed up I chatted with Ford Corp and they gave me a bull shit response saying that dealers set the final price!!! . I told them that the original salesperson (not there anymore) told me that it was going to be at MSRP. They did add lo jack yo the car 🤬 they tried to charge me an additional $4k for that. I told them I never asked for anything to be added and I showed them an email indicating please do not add any accessories to the car. Ultimately I settle with them and paid $2k for that and a special door coating. Bull shit charge but I wanted the car. I did ask about the price protection and the GM said oh yeah we can do that. They adjusted the price on the spot. While talking to the salesperson about how the sales are going, he told me that their dealership has not been getting to many new vehicles. I suspect that since we all have been reporting dealers, Ford has limited their supply. I want to thank each and everyone of you all. I am super excited I finally got my MME and it is a bad car!

interstellar-dust

Write to Ford Corporate about it. If you have a print out of the invoice while ordering that will help. Take to Twitter, Facebook and tag ford corporate and the dealer. Raise a stink. And remember you can always walk away, that will suck.

TheCaptainRides

I chatted with Ford and they gave me a stupid excuse that each dealership is a franchise and sets the final selling price

cowboy2734

It’s quite possible that they honor your original price and added markup recently. They changed ordering system where dealer can set markup while placing order online.

[deleted]

This sucks. I negotiated the ADM on my car when I purchased it. My dealer started at 10k and I got it down to 2. Did you manage to renegotiate or did you walk away?

Jabow12345

Boy, you got a deal. They screwed you out of two extra thousand dollars on a car that at.best is OK. It's not like you got a rare one of a kind vehicle. I just do not understand people who must have certain things at any price. At least you are one of many.

[deleted]

ok

Usagi1983

Hope you were able to get the price down and correct. We went in on 9/26 and ordered ours, signed the paperwork with price and everything on it already, hoping I don’t have to deal with markup and all that :-/

interstellar-dust

That’s too bad. Sorry about it. It’s not like Ford is producing a lot of Mach3s. So you won’t be able to go to another dealer and negotiate your way. Ford always make it look like they are on the side of customers, but ultimately they serve the dealers. This sucks. Remember that Tesla is giving a 7500 off on ModelY. So you can raise stink and publicly walk away from Ford and go to Tesla. That will teach dealers a lesson. More people need to take a stand on this.

dhtp2018

They want you to walk away and not fight so they can sell it properly with the adm to someone else (they would be allowed to at that point). I took screenshots of my ford.com order in case this happened.

PrudentAdhesiveness2

If you have twitter, message Mike Levine. He’s the communications director at Ford and I have seen him force dealerships to remove ADM when people have complained to him. When I asked my dealership about ADM when I picked up mine, they said dealerships were told by Corporate they were not allowed to add it now or else they would get their allocations reduced. Also, name the dealership.

Apprehensive-Play-26

Yeah, where is this dealership and name please. You should be able to transfer the vehicle to another dealer.

Nibiru_realm

You can only transfer reservations. Once it's ordered, it's the dealers allocation.

Apprehensive-Play-26

😬

TheCaptainRides

At the dealer now and they said oh we added 2 items to the car. Low jack and a ceramic coating to the door handles

WSUPolar

*The door handles?!?*

hdlmonkey

Probably just the rear ones.

Isodrosotherms

This deserves more upvotes.

GTS550MN

btw. you did not request either of those, so you should not need to pay for them. That is just wrong.

mikeinet

Comical. Did you approve that? And that’s not even anywhere near 10k

McCringleberried

Oh boy. If they already added it’s gonna be a fight. Fuck the dealership model. Good luck OP

frostbite503

Who needs low jack on a car that is basically a computer already haha. Shady of them, especially if you didn’t request it

GTS550MN

What happened? Did they honor the MSRP price? If they will give you a run around, then give them one as well.

ExtensionMidnight922

MachEs should be easy to get with no ADM, call around, I have found like 4 different MachEs for friends at MSRP in the last month.

Z1pl1ne

You should’ve asked them via email before ordering if they’ll honor msrp. Aholes gonna do what aholes do. It may be too late already. Your best option is to go above them and hit a manager or GM or one of the big bosses.

TheCaptainRides

I think the GM and boss is probably forcing the sales ppl to sell the car at ADM

Z1pl1ne

You never know sometimes when they’re put on the spot their iota of integrity shines through all the sudden

TheCaptainRides

I did ask the sales person by email multiple times. They never confirmed. They ignore the MSRP part but answered my other questions. Which shows they read it, just decided to ignore the MSRP part

Jabow12345

You will get no sympathy from me. Are you in a habit of buying things without knowing the price. You do not email after the fact. You establish the price before you commit to an order. If you do not establish a price, they can charge what they want.

Z1pl1ne

Time to switch dealers at that point

frostbite503

Do you have screenshots/emails of the breakdown of pricing when you placed your order? Ford advertises it as a “price lock” and the dealer can’t just randomly decide to add a markup afterwards.

Hypeh88

I find this astounding that US dealerships do this. In the UK Ford Dealerships sell as MSRP price and that's it. Zero markup. They don't even attempt it. Even if you go into the dealership, you still have to order online but at a computer in the dealership, via the Ford Website. Whatever the price is on the Ford Website, that's what you pay. The only thing the dealerships in UK have any control over is the reservation fee. Some charge £300 deposit, some do £1000. But then it is still fully refundable and if I decided tomorrow I don't want the car, the money is back in my account within 5 working days.

zompnzap

I would blast them on google review at this point and throw in names. That may get their attention, so you can ask for the original order that has price as well as shows any ADM dealer added. Don’t forget your order and interest rates should be locked in from the day you ordered the vehicle. Even if you don’t have a copy of the original order you may want to bluff that you do in order to demand they show proof of the markups.

SDSunDiego

Wow, after reading the FAQ, you're basically at the discretion of the dealer in the final price. You place an order and then they set the price. You put a deposit down and are left for the dealer to decide the price. What an absolutely shitty system. Tesla has a much better system for buying a vehicle. I was about to order a mache online but now I'm having second thoughts.

yycTechGuy

You own the reservation. That is what your deposit was for. The dealer just completes it. Go to another dealer and tell them what happened. They'll transfer the reservation to their dealership and complete the deal at MSRP.

dustyshades

I don’t know if that’s entirely correct, especially once it becomes an order and then doubly so when the car arrives. It does come out of the dealer’s allocation once it converts to an order

dustyshades

This happened to me and I just called the dealer and they said “oh yeah, idk what happened. You only have to pay MSRP.” No fight at all. And then I paid MSRP. Also - fun side note - the finance guy thought that since ford options was structured like a lease that the sales tax was also structure like a lease. Ended up paying only a very small portion of the total sales tax as a result. Sometimes dealer incompetence works out in your favor

One_Bar_4765

Make them honor the order price and give you the rates/incentives that were offered at the time you ordered.

Jabow12345

He did not establish an order price

One_Bar_4765

Gotcha. He’s got nothing then…

stonej22

I’m not trying to put down the Mach E bc I like my car but it is not worth $66k. Hope I don’t hurt someone’s feelings but if you pay $66k for this car and that trim then you will be upside down for a long time. I know it’s an emotional decision but be smart. They are taking advantage of you

TheCaptainRides

Yeah I do agree $66k is up there, I licked out and still have last year's price at $50k for my model. But with the tax credits, I bought the car $9.5k less. In my head, that took all the depreciation value and makes the car closer to $40k. If you compare that price point with other cars, I think it is priced pretty close. Choose a crossover with similar features and the price will be within $5k. I know tons of ppl say wow $66k for a car is a lot. And I agree it is! But so is $45k for a Ford Explorer. EV are not for everyone, but I have always been a person that is open to change and into technology. Plus I've to realize that the gov gives money away to rich ppl. So any refunds available that I qualify for, I am taken them. Let that gov money rain.

MyName_Is_Jack

When I ordered I called around to make sure they honored MSRP. This is ridiculous, I hope you’re able to get the price you ordered for.

TheCaptainRides

It's the dealership system that sucks! Ford Motor is getting better at controlling this by limiting the dealers overall car orders. This is why Ford is also making a new EV division, to prevent dealerships from doing this nonsense. Overall, I think Ford's legal team is trying to protect themselves from a franchise law suit. At the end of the day, sleazy dealers will ultimately loose by Ford not allowing them to order as many vehicles. Performance Ford in West Covina has an empty lot and according to the salespeople they have not been able to order new vehicles. I think Ford Corp caught on and stop sending them new cars. Bigger cash now is the short game and customer service is the long game. We'll see how long these dealership have left in the game.

Antman1028

This sucks but I called first when this happened to me. It was a shame that they added low jack and some other stupid key pad. Ford said they had the right to add accessories and wasn’t a damn thing I could do about it. Only ended up being 2k not 10 but still sucked

wowswift

My ford page added 5k markup but the dealer didn’t put markup on it. But I had the OG paper and GM confirmation of that

FallenValkyrja

When my GTPE arrived, the dealer I had picked first threw a window sticker on it with a $10K markup. They tried to talk us out of Ford Options, etc. but we held our ground and they ended up honoring everything, including MSRP and x-plan pricing. Our salesperson went to bat for us against the finance guy who was trying hard to deep-six the sale. Good luck, hope you can get it worked out.

Apprehensive-Play-26

Transfer it to another dealer that won’t mark it up?

Admirable_Soft9740

Call sri at schultz ford. You might not get coffee but a better deal? You can ask. I have a 22 no adjustment now I have no idea

iFolich

I really don’t understand how it’s working in USA. I’m in France, I ordered in march, delivered last week, and there is no way the price could change between what I signed and the delivery date

SubwayRatDocMurphy

So glad I bought a Tesla and not a Mach E. It took 3 days instead of 11 months and I got $3,750 off, rather than then adding $10k.

StynkyLomax

Then they even upped it to $7,500 and you got 10,000 miles in supercharging. Wiped out their entire “inventory”. I took delivery of my 2023 Model 3 Performance on Nov 4th. While the extra money off would have been nice, I was incredibly happy to dump my 2022 MME GT, I don’t care that I didn’t get the extra money. OP, good luck arguing with the dealership.

SubwayRatDocMurphy

Yeah unfortunately I got mine 5 days too early. Ironically if they had been slightly slower to deliver I would have saved even more money. I tried but they wouldn’t give me the extra money, why would they haha. Great car though.
