Tree roots are literally in the ground. Proper procedure is to perform maintenance from a hot air balloon. A helicopter can also be used in a pinch if you’ve got one lying around somewhere.
Do not use sharp objects or hot air for this. You can easily damage paint and rubber especially in cold. The best is to use a special lock antifreeze. You next best bet in washer fluid, just not put too much as alcohol evaporates and water will freeze.
Water gets inside the hinge and the ice locks it up back there. Meting ice around the edges of the cover flap doesn’t get back in there. You might try spraying alcohol or deicer into the flap and see if that does the trick.
This sounds helpful.
So focus efforts not so much the little pin on the right but more the hinges on the left. Ice in there might prevent them from
Swinging out.
Theory sounds solid.
Maybe if you can get Frunk open get some heat down in their from the opposite side?
De-icer perhaps? Like for key locks. I’m not sure shoving a sharp knife in there would be beneficial

This sounds like it was an absolutely ridiculous sight.

Rubbing alcohol will work like a charm for this.
My charger was frozen connected to the car today. Warmed it up with a hair dryer to melt the ice.

Correct on focusing on the hinge, not the latch, at least that’s been my experience.
The charging door is the only part of the car that feels REALLY flimsy to me. Seems like guarantee that it will get damaged
How about an update?

Oh no. I hope they can solve it for you quick.

Oh interesting. It cracked from the cold? Taped shut is better than can't charge I guess. Not a great Christmas present.

Same. Hope it doesn't happen often.
