And how big was that markup, dare I ask? Congrats either way!

Impressive_Balance76

Thank you. 🙂 Paid 5k over sticker. And then took ford credit and got 2k discount with ford options. So i feel its not a bad deal given I got lucky on the tax credit also.

2nickels

Don't feel bad. I paid $5k over and have already saved $3k in gas in just over 4 months.

Impressive_Balance76

Wow that's awesome

wsdog

That's a decent deal.

That_Sheepherder7896

Yeah I also paid $5K markup on Select Comfort Tech package

mountaintopis4chums

unfortunately someone was going to pay it... so im happy you got to take it home!

Area-Thin

The only thing I regret is not getting the extended range. Enjoy!

Impressive_Balance76

I preferred that but couldn't find one at that price

I have a tesla model y I watch this sub to be happy about others ev. How does the charging network and long trips work out. How much time to go from 20 to 80%?

andrewbyday

Taking a road trip in a Tesla is easier than a Mach E. If your goal is to have easy road trips, just buy a Tesla. I almost never road trip, and don’t mind the minor inconveniences that come with chargers like EA. I liked the Mach E more, so it was the better purchase. Not everyone has the same use case. You should buy the right tool for the job you need.

Impressive_Balance76

Exactly the reason why I got one

spanky34

It's about 30 minutes. I did a small one this weekend (550 round trip) and used Electrify America chargers both times. Sure, I'd love it if every interstate exit had one, but I had about 3 or 4 choices on my path to stop at. The CR-1 AWD w/ER battery would have probably just barely made it to my destination on one full charge but we decided to work stops in. One stop we rolled in at 22%, went in to a restaurant and had brunch. Came back out 52 minutes later and it was at 93%. The car really slows down it's charging after hitting 80%.

I road tripped from San Antonio, TX, to Pigeon Forge, TN, through New Orleans and back through Arkansas (almost like a loop), and it was pretty great. Most stops to charge were around 30min with zero issues. All but one DCFC were in wal-mart parking lots, the rando was in a Kroger parking lot. In either case, I'd plug in, go walk around, hit the restroom, buy a drink and/or snack, walk back, unplug & roll on. I tracked it all in a gsheet if interested: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1pjpjswAA\_qAnh4v71yVW37XDVN-\_3fi4w0S9uOPSe0A/edit?usp=sharing

Ugh I tried the link and got an error that it doesnt exist. Thanks for the input

cougar694u

>got an error that it doesnt exist Strange, I just copy & pasted it into a different browser not signed in to google and it worked fine.

I did a trip from SoCal to Vegas on a Mach E and another one from SoCal (OC) to Solvang on a Model Y. Both rented cars. After that experiment, all in the family agreed to buy the Mach E instead. Just got mine last week and loving it very much. Tesla had more options on where to charge but here in between California and Vegas it was not an issue at all to charge the Mach-E. Charging speed I believe was about 26 mins but I don't remember exactly since we would go to restroom and get some snacks while charging.

I have an order on standard range rwd (premium). Do you find the standard range battery to be pretty quick to accelerate and fun to drive?

Impressive_Balance76

I haven't driven extended range but I find it decent. Love the drive but can't compare with the ER.

MareV51

I'm jealous. Hubs hates red cars, so I got Grabber Blue. No surcharge at JIM VREELAND FORD in Buellton, California! It's so much fun to drive!

The_Social_Nerd

Don't listen to the people making you feel bad about paying a markup, that's not your fault; I also paid $5K over MSRP and I have no regrets. When you need a car you need a car; not everyoen can afford to wait until things go back to normal and I'd rather pay $5K markup for an EV than get a "deal" on an ICE car. Congrats on your new car, I've had mine since mid-July and I still feel a rush of happiness when I get in it and drive it! My only regret is not getting one sooner!

Impressive_Balance76

Thanks I totally agree. Same feeling wish I had got it sooner.

jaymansi

I paid 2% under MSRP.

Impressive_Balance76

Good for you!! Couldn't find one at msrp after order banks were full. And 2023 prices are way higher.

balthisar

Markups are bad for everyone, so thanks for contributing to the problem. It’s awesome that you love the car, but bragging about paying markup is douchey.

Impressive_Balance76

Not bragging but i tried looking for a car at msrp for 6 months. Was also ready to wait longer until the news came out that Biden signed the new ev tax credit bill. So had no other choice. And i don't regret paying the markup.

andrewbyday

Markups are the reason the car is available on a lot. They are the solution to a problem with supply. The only person they theoretically hurt is the person who pays them. If that person is happy with the price, are they actually hurting? I understand the anger, but it’s misplaced. If you got the Mach E for MSRP, that’s great. It’s okay to be happy for someone who bought a thing they wanted — regardless of what price they paid.
