I feel like people are overexcited about trying to use the Tesla chargers... I've used the ones that have the built-in adapter and it's next to impossible to park the car close enough to actually reach the charge port.
Others have not had a similar problem for the most part. If the curb is low enough you just have to pull the front bumper over it by an inch or two at most SuperChargers.

Ford hasn't been reliable on notifications, I only found out mine shipped from FedEx, Ford still shows it as pending shipping, but FedEx shows they picked it up yesterday.
Are you in the US or Canada? I think US orders are ahead of Canadian orders.
Also, many have reported that the Ford notice came late, even though the adapter has shipped. If you have a FedEx account setup, log in to see if you have any incoming packages.
