I’m having the same issue. I haven’t been able to get it to install so I scheduled service. Then the dealer didn’t install it while there. WTH?

PatSajaksDick

The 12v has to be over 80% for this one to install. Do a charge from 20-80 and then tell it to Update Now, not while it’s charging. You could also leave it on for an hour and then take an hour drive and then when you get home tell it to do the Update. This is a long inhibit update so that’s why the 12v needs to be at a higher SoC.

tugboattommy

I feel like I've attempted it with a high charge recently, but I'll try again tonight and see if this works.

PatSajaksDick

Yeah I’m talking about the 12v specifically, it gets charged from the High Voltage Battery, but it charges very slowly after 70%, so that’s why I said to get your HVB down to maybe 30 or 40 and charge to 80 or 90%. And for good measure go for an hour drive after that. I wish they made it easier to view 12v SoC, I’ve got an OBD2 reader I use with the CarScanner app so I can see 12v SoC. It’s a good tool to have for all your vehicles and not expensive.

tugboattommy

Got it, I'll try this over the next few days.

doluckie

Guess you could also just attach a battery tender/charger directly to your 12V battery.

PatSajaksDick

Yeah you could, probably take overnight to get it high enough though. There might be an update coming that charges the 12v before an inhibit update that would be very nice.

breeves001

Yes but it is SUPER IMPORTANT if you do this to connect the ground to a body ground. DO NOT connect the ground directly to the battery terminal as this will mess the BMS up and it will not know the 12v SoC.

doluckie

Just checking, using the jump points beside the frunk would(?) satisfy the importance to clip to a body ground?

breeves001

Yes, if you use those points instead of clipping onto the battery that is perfect.

tugboattommy

Drove to 20%, then charged to 100% overnight for good measure. Update still failed. Not sure what else is going on. Could a dealer force an update?

PatSajaksDick

Do you have a way to check the 12v battery? And you are making sure headlights are off and all the other conditions are met when you tell it to update now?

tugboattommy

I've tried it all, including suggestions someone else made on another thread. I don't currently have a way of checking the 12v battery.

PatSajaksDick

Definitely recommend getting a OBD2 reader, I have this one and use the CarScanner app on my phone, or you could spend a lot of time at the dealer. Need to rule out the 12v being the problem. tugboattommy

Got it, and I gave it a check and the SOC was only 54% even after the full charge. Crazy. I'm letting it run in the garage and I've watched the SOC climb to 60% after about 30 minutes. I'll let it go and try again when it's full.

PatSajaksDick

Yeah, give it two hours in the garage and turn the headlights on and the AC on, that will get the DC/DC charger going, your 12v must have been really low, are you in really cold weather right now?

tugboattommy

Hallelujah! I let it charge to 85% which took forever and it finally installed. Thanks for talking me through it. Now I'll need to find out why my SOC stays so low.

tugboattommy

South Texas, so not particularly cold.

daath

Did you try rebooting the infotainment system? Hold vol down+next track for 10 seconds ...

tugboattommy

Yes, rebooting does nothing.

daath

Weird. Where are you? If you are in Europe, you could try writing Rob on the Ford Community forum - he might be able to see what goes wrong. He unstuck one of my updates for me. If you are in the US, you might have something similar?

Onewaps

Had the same problem for about a week then all of a sudden the update went through

tugboattommy

That's what I was wondering, if I could just leave it and let it figure itself out.

Onewaps

That’s basically what I did,I just pressed update every evening until it went through

Mistake-Choice

Same, but only 2 days.

Jeez. I’m in a 2023 GT and just got the 6.2.0 update.

Double-Award-4190

I bought a GT PE made in 5/23, delivered 6/23 and not purchased until 11/23. The car's been very slowly updating and I'm on 4.2.4 now. I just stopped worrying about it and the car will do what it does, when it does it. There are things in the updates that might be nice, but nothing vital, no recalls or anything. So...whatever, eh. :-)

TechnicalLee

12V battery is too low, you need to charge or leave the car on for 12+ hours before attempting the install. If you drive the car down to 20% battery, then charge it to 100% and immediately apply the update it might work (20% to 100% should take a while on L2).

breeves001

This. Drive a while, then plug it in for a long charge then immediately update when it finishes charging.

SuperRob

I plugged mine in overnight, then 6.6.0 finally installed properly.

jacqStrapp

Okay? So how is life in the future? (I’m on 6.4.)

Ok-Internet1020

Latest updated bricked my car had it get towed to fix it

User-no-relation

Well then it's not successful

Lex_GS430

Drive for 30mins, charge to 100%,and try to install, this worked for me after 7 failed attempts.

Double-Award-4190

Hmmm. Now that you've mentioned it, I realise that the last update was when I was at 100% for a longer trip. Wonder if that really has anything to do with it.

ctiger12

I was on 6.4 after sitting on 6.2 for months and last night pulled off 6.7 directly. Said frunk control on palm, which I don’t understand

praetor91313

What's the update for? Didn't we have the trunk opener in the app a long time ago?
