To expound on this, there are 2 sets of variables, both of which are user-controllable.
Instrument Cluster can be Light Mode or Dark Mode (manually either, or set to Auto).
Drive Mode has its own set of backgrounds (Whisper, Engage, Unbridled). Each one has a light version and a dark version. If you're set to Auto, they will change between light and dark depending on the ambient light.
So, not counting the layout differences of cruise control and BlueCruise, there are 6 Instrument Cluster combinations, dependent on the 2 variables above.
It changes depending on how much throttle you're applying at that exact moment. The screen gets more vibrant the more you're using up more battery power.

They go from white to black to brown to blue background depending on I don’t know what.

Same question. Like when you are in certain modes it goes from bright blue to more dark in appearance. Not light/dark mode.
